Turbo Snake Reviews Show You a Fast, Easy Option for Unclogging Drains

Clogged drains are common in households, and they are especially easy to get if you or anyone in your family has medium-length or long hair. Most homes will get a clogged drain in the bathtub, but you can also find them pretty common in the bathroom sink, too. It can be really bothersome and even gross to have a clog that results in standing water while you shower, or even when you do something as brief as brushing your teeth. Some people will try to use harsh chemical unclogging products, but for many people, it will take several rounds of use with these expensive and harmful chemicals to get even mediocre results. If you read a few Turbo Snake reviews, however, you can learn an easier and faster way to clear the clogs from your drains.

Does It Work?

It sure does! The concept and design of the product is not complicated at all, so it is easy to see just from looking at the product that it will work. You simply feed a long, thin tube with a gripping feature at the end down your drain. By twisting the tube as you feed it down the drain, the gripping feature will grab hold of your clog. Then you pull out the clog fast and easy. The clog is not going to be pretty to look at it, and you probably will not want to touch it at all. The good news is that the snake is disposable, so you can toss the whole thing straight into the trash can!

Planning to Buy It?

After you read the Turbo Snake reviews and learn how fast and easy it is to clear your drain of those clogs that have been irritating you for weeks, you are probably ready to buy it right away. This is a popular and easily located product, available in local stores as well as on major e-retail websites like Amazon.com; however, you will get the best deal when you buy from the company's website directly. The company typically offers special deals, such as the current offer that gives you six snakes free when you buy one. You will also get a 30-day, money-back guarantee and the benefit of not paying sales tax (except for residents of New Jersey and California).

How to Make Money With Your Wood Turning Skills

As woodturning continues from beginner to more advanced levels for the enthusiast the question sometimes arises as to how to make money with these wood turning skills. For many hobbyists the dream is to make the enjoyment a money maker, perhaps to the point of it becoming a full time occupation. Here are few things to keep in mind.

First there is the reality of knowing the difference between making money and making a living. Woodturning is a very competitive business and most woodturners who are able to do so for a living have either a long experience at the trade with a great reputation, do a lot of teaching, or have a spouse with a great paying job. It is very difficult to turn full time and have a reasonable income.

On the other hand there are some great avenues for making money as a hobby turner. It is important to be faithful to the art and craft of woodturning and to realize that if you are going to sell what you make, you should price according to the value placed by full time competitors. They are trying to make a living and underselling them is not fair. Besides, if your work is not good enough to compete, it is not fair either to the art and craft to sell inferior work. If you are able to sell at a fair price, chances are the hobby will at least pay for itself and these days that is not bad at all.

Decide what products you are going to sell and ask yourself if you are willing to make them. If your enthusiasm is to turn one of a kind artistic items you will find it to be a high end market that competes with ceramics, painting, photographs and a host of other artistic work. Most woodturners who are able to make money at the craft do so by turning multiples of small items such as pens or kitchenware. Salad bowls by the carload may earn enough money to allow the turning of a few artistic items to keep the interest up.

Craft shows now abound and are a good place to sell woodturnings. If work is displayed professionally and you enjoy working with the public you can have a great time at a show and sell well. Make sure your turnings fit the show and decide to enjoy the experience.

Teaching is another way to expand the income from turning. It is one of the fastest growing area of woodworking today and people are looking for instruction. For a bit of experience show a friend or two something about your way to turn wood and determine if teaching is for you.

While some people do sell work on the internet it will probably be small items turned in multiples once again. Most artistic items will sell only if they are held and fondled first. Wood is a very tactile item in its turned form and folks want to touch before buying.

As in most cases, selling woodturnings is a case of the right price at the right time in the right place. However people have been selling turnings for a long time and it may be the right time for you to start.

How Do I Store My Trampoline Over Winter?

We have a surprising number of phone calls this year asking this exact question. Besides stating the obvious of just store it in your garage, there actually are a few more factors to consider. We’ll go through these various factors in this article, which in turn extends the lifespan of your trampoline.

1. Store Your Trampoline Using A Cover – This option has proven to be the most popular in recent years since cover prices crashed. A good quality trampoline cover will protect your trampoline from the worst of the frost during the peak of winter and keep the water out of the pads. Things to look out for are make sure the cover has a drainage hole to ensure no water pools in the middle of the bed, the weight of the water can cause extensive damage. Make sure the cover has decent ties to attach to the trampoline frame and preferably spend a little extra and get a PVC trampoline cover instead of EPE. This means that the trampoline is kept dry no all times which is when the most damage happens.

2. Store Your Trampoline In The Garage – This is the most effective way of extending the life of your trampoline. When storing your trampoline though ensure that you put the bed somewhere out of reach of rodents. The material is ideal for the rodents to use as nest padding and so is usually a target when in storage. The other tip is keep track of all the parts while dismantling the trampoline as this can be quite a pain to attain spare parts the next year. The trampoline pads are susceptible to moisture and so ideally they would need to be sealed in waterproof packaging during the period of storage.

3. Leave The Trampoline Frame Outside – Another option would be to leave the trampoline frame up outside and take the trampoline pads off along with the trampoline bed. This means that the materials that are damaged by the weather are stored and the frame is safe outside. Once again store the trampoline pads and trampoline bed in a dry, cool place away from any rodent access.

3 Door to Door Sales Tips For Better Selling

Door to door sales is a tough business involving a lot of walking, talking and what turns most people off; Rejection. Being rebuffed time after time after time can really make this type of selling very hard and if you are the kind of sales person that thrives on success they may be so few and far between that this becomes depressing and not worthwhile. There are many door to door sales tips and tricks used by great sales people but the real building blocks for success come from motivation, planning and persistence.

1. Motivation Tips

Staying motivated from street to street, door to door and day to day is an ongoing challenge. It is said this sort of sales is just a numbers game, the more you knock the more chances you have to get a sales and while this is true it is only a part of the truth. If you knock unsuccessfully for too long it can get to you and the next call you will not be as lively or persuasive, having high motivation and energy throughout the day is essential for being persuasive and making each call count. The first thing you must do is not take any rejection personally, you are in an industry where you are selling to people who are not actively looking for your product and do not know you are coming, the conversion rate of sales is very low and you must expect this. Just think that every unsuccessful call has enabled you to get to the next call that may be a winner quicker! Another way to stay motivated is to keep track of sales but do not keep track of unsuccessful calls, only focus on positives not negatives and you will find success comes more easily, celebrate each sale, revel in it and stay on top of your game!

2. Planning Tips

While this may be a numbers game not all calls are equal so the adage of more is better is somewhat false. Good planning and research can help you to find the most profitable calls to focus on instead of just calling on whatever doors come your way. That also being said too much planning and too little calling is also a recipe for disaster. Choose your locations well for your products, some areas simply will not generate the same sales as other due to demographics. Also the time of day you call is important, calling at the wrong time can lead to a wasted call. You must strike a balance between numbers and quality of calls for a good sales conversion rate.

3. Persistence Tips

Persistence can be a double edged sword; I was once told that the difference between a good sales person and a great sales person is persistence. However later I learned that the difference between a great sale person and an annoying harasser is but small degrees apart. While you must be persistent in sales there is also the danger of following dead end too far and wasting time. If there is no chance of a sale why continue to try to make them come around? If you are pressing too hard you simple put people off, the art of listening is more important in this situation or even just giving up. That right, persisting when the outcome will not change is not good! If you apply your persistence where it can get results you will go far but you must prioritise calls and customers quickly or be stuck in dead end avenues. Having more time for more calls can often yield better results than simply trying not to take no for an answer! Remember that door to door sales is about quality and quantity, sticking with a low quality call means you have no quality and you are missing out on more quantity!

There are heaps of other small tips you can use from your opening to your closing to overall door to door coverage. Keep in mind these overall concepts for running your territory and you will be able to increase your overall sales however and more door to door sales tips will come to you in the process of your work!

Canvas Painting Tips – How to Prime a Canvas

Beginner artists must learn how to prime a new canvas before even a drop of paint is applied. This process neutralizes the material’s natural tan hue so that it does not undesirably alter the overall coloring of the final painting. Priming also serves to create an even look to the final painting by making the surface smooth and non-porous. Here are simple instructions and tips for learning how to prime a canvas.

The Materials and Tools Needed For Priming a Canvas

1. Gesso – is a thick white liquid canvas primer that can be found at art supply stores. While there are other primers that are clear or color tinted, the white variety of Gesso, as described in this article, is the most common.

2. Paint Stirrer – used to thoroughly mix water or some other thinning agent with Gesso.

3. Plastic Container – this needs to be large enough to allow room to add a thinning agent if desired.

4. Gesso Application Brush – this brush has nylon bristles that can be easily washed with soap and water when finished.

5. Thinning agent and water are used to make the Gesso spread more easily and produce a smoother surface than would be possible using it straight out of the bottle.

6. Fine Sandpaper and a soft cloth – this is to be used to sand a dry, hardened layer of primer on the canvas before applying the next layer. The dampened soft cloth is used to remove the sanding dust before applying another layer of primer.

Instructions For Priming a Canvas

Tip: It is important to note that the Gesso formula commonly used today behaves in a similar way to fast drying water soluble acrylic paint. When Gesso dries it is no longer water soluble. This means that you need to keep your brush damp with water to prevent the primer from sticking to the brush as it dries. Also do not dump excess primer down the sink drain because when it dries in the trap it can produce a serious clog. Paint fast and clean your brush immediately after and you should not have much trouble.

Dilute the Gesso – For a relatively rough texture apply only one coat of undiluted Gesso right out of the bottle. For a smoother finish apply two thin coats of slightly diluted primer to the canvas.

Water is usually used to thin the primer. The ideal ratio of Gesso to water mix should be indicated on the bottle label. Too much water can cause the primer to crack on the canvas when dry. It is possible to use a 3-way mixture of water, Gesso and a special medium that prevents cracking. Ask at a local art store for recommendations.

Tip: To prevent contamination, never dilute the Gesso in its original bottle or pour unused primer back in the bottle. For the same reason do not dip the paint brush directly into the Gesso factory container. Instead pour only what you will need for one canvas into a separate plastic mixing container. Throw away what you do not use instead of returning it to the bottle.

Brush Pattern: The first coat should be painted with left to right parallel brush strokes. The second coat should be brushed from top to bottom.

Sand after the first coat: sand the canvas with very fine sandpaper after the first coat of Gesso has dried for an hour or so. This is then followed by wiping off the fine sanding dust with a slightly damp soft cloth before applying the next coat.

Drying Time: Depending on the humidity levels in the studio, let the first coat dry at least an hour or two. The second or final coat should be allowed to dry for 24 hours before beginning the painting. Always let the canvas dry while laying flat to prevent the wet Gesso from running.

Preparing a canvas to last for many years requires special priming techniques like adding a dilute formaldehyde solution to the back of the canvas to prevent bacterial decay. It is interesting to note that some of the old Masters would actually let a primed canvas stabilize for 6 months to a year before adding paint. However, these advanced techniques for learning to prime a new canvas are beyond the scope of this article.

Decorative Concrete – Functional To Fashionable

If you never thought that dull and boring concrete could be innovative and fun, companies providing Minnesota construction services might just have some surprises for you. Chances are that most of the developed surfaces you see use some type of concrete, wood, carpets, or tiles.

While many buildings are made of concrete, it is not necessary to keep this sturdy building material grey and uninteresting. Minnesota building contractors use contemporary ideas and technology to transform utility into decoration. To embellish the concrete, the commercial construction industry uses a variety of materials that can either be used during the pouring process or after the concrete has been cured.

Types of Concrete and Decorative Procedures Used by Minnesota Building Contractors:

Stamped Concrete is adding texture and color to the concrete to make it resemble natural products like wood, shells, stone, brick, and the like. This material has almost limitless possibilities, and its great durability combined with low costs makes stamped concrete very popular in new constructions and renovations.

Acid Staining is a coloring process involving a chemical reaction. The application of water, salts, and acid react with the existing minerals in the concrete to create new colors. This technique is more effective on indoor surfaces. A protective coating gives enhanced durability.

Water-Based staining this is not a reaction but more of a coating that bonds with the concrete surface. This is a nontoxic process.

Scoring is cutting shallow lines directly into the concrete. If done before the staining it gives a uniform color; if done afterwards, it exposes the natural color of the concrete. Each produces different effects.

Epoxy Paints come in a wide range of colors and offer durable and chemical spill-resistant advantages. These are applied over acid stained and/or overlays; also available in water-based forms.

Polished Concrete started as an answer to industrial floor problems and is now a very popular decorative concrete application. Here, mechanical grinders and diamond pads give a hard-glossy finish to the surface. Acid stains and concrete dyes can be used to increase options.

Overlays a cement layer is poured over the existing worn layer. Polymer cement overlays have greatly improved this process’s performance and are more resistant to corrosion from salt, petrochemicals, traffic, UV, and harsh weather conditions.

Minneapolis Construction Industry Uses Decorative Concrete Applications in:

Theme Parks Stamped concrete is gaining steady popularity in flatwork and pedestrian areas. This process lends itself wonderfully to variety.

Interior Flooring Stained concrete floors are popular with big retailers due to their cost effectiveness. Polished concrete is preferred in educational and medical buildings because of the reflective, attractive, and easy maintenance surface.

Green Building As the water-based applications are environmentally friendly and the high reflective surface reduces energy demands, decorative concrete is the preferred choice in green buildings.

Nowadays people expect more than the basic function of concrete. With improved techniques and materials, concrete offers value engineering not only through low costs and maintenance, but also superior finish and colors, designs, and textures to suit all tastes. Companies providing Minnesota construction services can offer all this and more.

Should I Use a Cast, a Boot, a Splint Or a Brace For My Injury?

After fracturing my foot, patients and family members asked me how it was being treated. Was surgery required? Did you need it casted? What is the best way to treat this type of fracture? As I thought of these issues, I felt it was necessary to explain the differences of the various available treatments and when one is better than another. I, however, placed my broken foot in a walking boot for reasons I will explain later.

Cast: For years the standard treatment for fractures was plaster casts (now fiberglass), and was designed to protect the area and stabilize the fracture location. These are still utilized regularly, but may not be required.

Advantages:

– Solid construct that provides protection for the area that was injured.

– Due to the firmness of the cast, it stabilizes the fracture during healing.

– Inability to remove. In some patients this is a necessity, because fractures get worse without protection and if the “protection” is being regularly removed it won’t heal correctly.

Disadvantages:

– Can’t get cast wet, making bathing more difficult.

– Itching and possible irritation from wearing a cast for 6-8 weeks during healing.

– May be painful if placed too early and the foot swells. (Especially important if an airplane trip is planned, as a cast will get painful.)

Walking Boot: This treatment is becoming much more common, because of the convenience and ease of application. The boot can be a great option for many fractures where stabilization of the ankle joint is required to stabilize the fracture.

Advantages:

– Ability to remove for shower or to let foot and leg breath.

– Due to the firmness of the boot, it stabilizes the fracture during healing.

– Soft lining and construct for increased comfort and allowance for swelling.

Disadvantages:

– Often has portions of boot that a soft, reducing the protection areas.

– Easily removed, increasing the ability to walk without the boot (increasing the risk of further injury).

Due to the associated comfort, the ease of dressing (since it can be removed) and the ability to shower without the boot, I chose this option for my foot. I do, however, wear it 24 hours a day, except when changing clothes or showering.

Post-op Shoe: For some fractures of the foot, a post-op shoe may provide enough stability to allow healing.

Advantages:

– Ability to remove for shower or to let foot and leg breath.

– Due to the firmness of the boot, it stabilizes the fracture during healing.

– Soft lining and construct for increased comfort and allowance for swelling.

Disadvantages:

– Only sole of shoe is rigid, providing no protection to top of foot.

– No stability to ankle or joints of foot nearest the ankle.

– Easily removed, increasing the ability to walk without the shoe (increasing the risk of further injury).

Splint: Stability of the cast with room for swelling. Usually not protective to the top of the foot, and doesn’t allow walking.

Brace: Should primarily be used for sprains and stable stress fractures that require reduced motion of the foot.

How should you treat your fracture? I recommend (and am doing it on my fracture) that you get good stability to the fracture including the joint above and below the area of injury. Typically this will require a walking boot or a cast.

Screen Printing – Exposure Time For Photo Emulsion Coated Screens

Exposing a screen printing screen is like exposing a photograph. For the best results, you need to expose it for the optimum amount of time. If you expect it a little less, or a little more, you will still probably be okay. But the farther you get away from the optimum time, the more results will suffer. The variables for figuring out the correct time are brightness of the light source, and distance from the screen.

You need to decide on a light source. I currently use a 250 watt halogen work light with the UV filter glass, and safety cage removed (you assume all risks if you remove your glass and / or cage from your halogen light). In the past, I have used a 75 watt incandescent bulb in a reflector with a clamp. Whatever you use, make sure you have some way of clamping it, or mounting it above the frame for an extended period of time.

You need to place the light far enough away from the screen, so that the whole screen is being evenly lighted. If the center of the screen is significantly brighter then the corners, than the light is too close. The bigger the screen, the farther you are likely to have to place the light source. The farther away the light source is, the longer the exposure time will be. Measure the distances, and record it, so you will be able to reproduce the results in the future.

Now you are ready to run a test to find the best exposure time. Here are some base times to start with (based on a 150 clear incandescent bulb):

12 inches above the screen, 45 minutes

15 inches above the screen, 74 minutes

17 inches above the screen, 92 minutes

The higher the bulb is above the screen, the longer the exposure needs to be. If the wattage of the bulb is lower, you need to lengthen the exposure time. If the wattage is higher, then you need to shorten the exposure time. If you use a different kind of bulb, the time may vary.

Here is how to test for the best exposure time:
Coat a screen with photo emulsion the usual way. Print a transparency with numbers from 10 to 90 in increments of 5. If you are using a low wattage bulb, you should use higher numbers in increments of 10. With the light set up, place the covered screen under the light to be exposed. Use a clock or stop watch to keep track of the time. After 5 minutes, cover the 5 with an opaque piece of paper or cardboard. After 10 minutes, cover the 10. Do this until all of the numbers are covered. Then wash out the screen. The lowest numbers that are distinct on the screen will give you the optimum exposure time.

Working With an Acetylene Torch: The Basics

Acetylene welding, also referred to as “oxy-acetylene” welding, is not only a commonly-used method for welding, but also for cutting. Acetylene gas is created by mixing calcium carbide with water. Calcium carbide is a mixture of lime and coal derivatives that are formed within an industrial furnace at temperatures of approximately 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. When acetylene and oxygen are mixed, a flame over 6,000 F is created hot enough to weld or cut just about any type of metal.

Acetylene welding equipment is much more universal than electric welding equipment. It is portable, versatile and less expensive. For those unfamiliar with the operation of an acetylene torch – such as what the proper mixture of acetylene and oxygen should be – it is necessary for someone with experience to instruct them. Working with a welding torch can be very dangerous for those who don’t know what they’re doing. But learning to weld using an oxy-acetylene torch is not difficult.

Basic Equipment

  • Safety gear: Goggles or a face shield as well as a pair of flame-retardant welding gloves are essential before welding.
  • Pressure vessels: Two cylinders are needed: One filled with pressurized acetylene gas and the other with pressurized oxygen.
  • Hoses: Flame and oil resistant rubber hoses rated for a working pressure of 200 pounds per square inch (PSI) are needed. Hoses are usually green in color for oxygen and red for acetylene.
  • Gas pressure regulators: These usually consist of two gauges; one for measuring high pressure – the gas in the cylinder – and the other for measuring low pressure, which is the gas emitted into the hose. The pressure in each cylinder is usually measured by PSI with the pressure flow adjusted using these regulators.
  • Flashback arrestors: Connected between the regulator outlet and the hose, arrestors can also be connected between the hose and the torch. A flashback occurs when a flame rapidly burns within the torch and can then pass back through the hose. This usually happens when the gases are not at the proper flow rates and are slower than the flame speed. Loose connections or leaks can also lead to flashbacks. A flashback arrestor will cut off gas flow should a flashback occur; thus preventing damage to the torch or its operator.
  • Torch: Consists of a handle, mixing chamber and valves to control the flow of oxygen and acetylene. The welding or cutting tip is attached to the end of the torch handle.
  • Striker: This is a metal instrument containing a piece of flint that ignites your torch by creating a spark when manually activated.
  • OperationAlways carefully inspect the equipment before using. Make sure all components are connected correctly and that there are no loose couplings or leaks. Also make sure flashback arrestors are in place and the proper hoses and gauges are connected to the proper gas cylinders.

Make sure the acetylene tank is kept at a constant pressure of 5 PSI. US regulations suggest to not allow the pressure to exceed 15 PSI and that you keep the oxygen pressure at 10 PSI.

Please remember to NEVER operate a welding torch without proper hands-on training from a professional.

Once the equipment has been checked and the proper nozzle for cutting or welding has been attached, you are ready to start your job. The last step is opening up the acetylene and the oxygen valves, located on the tank and handle of the torch.

Hold Your Breath, Here Comes a Bridge – History of the Fastener Industry

Ever hold your breath while you were crossing a bridge. If you have, you’re not alone. Either when you were a kid or now watching your own children – seeing if you could hold your breath all the way across the span of a bridge is a common challenge. However, if it weren’t for the fastener industry, we might all be holding our breath for a different reason – fear – and not fun. The same holds true for taking a plane to Grandma’s house, or tossing the car keys to your daughter. The excellence of fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws, rivets, etc.), used in manufacturing today, allow us to take much for granted.

From the Industrial Revolution to 2 World Wars: It was a long and bumpy road to the levels of standardization and quality that we enjoy today. The Industrial Revolution saw the end of the crude fasteners that had been around since early civilizations when they were employed in carts and agricultural equipment. After hundreds of years of fairly static technological improvement preceding the Industrial Revolution, this new era saw large numbers of screws and bolts produced in a relatively short amount of time, with more consistency, and more precision. By the mid 1700’s, the Wyatt brothers in England were manufacturing 150,000 wooden screws a week. By the late 1700’s, across the pond in America, companies were also making fasteners.

However, expansion of the industry was difficult due to a lack of standards. Size, thread density, and other factors varied greatly among businesses. Two Connecticut firms established in the 1840’s – The Rugg & Barnes Company and the A.P. Plant Company – were the first large American manufacturers to focus solely on making fasteners. Then, as often happens, a large historical event motivated growth and innovation – such an event was the American Civil War. It brought with it a huge demand for machinery – machinery held together by screws, nuts, and bolts. With it came the need for developing an American thread standard. William Sellers entered the picture in 1864. He proposed a uniform system of screw threads which differed from the British (Whitworth) standard in that the tops and bottoms of the threads were rounded rather than flattened. Ultimately, this standard proved to be a superior one, as rounded threads better withstood stress and resisted cracking and breaking compared to the flattened threads of the Whitworth standard. Standards are not always adopted quickly, though, and it would be another twenty years before his system was accepted as the American standard.

Differing American and British standards did cause some problems during the world wars of the 20th century. Field repairs were made difficult by the inconsistencies, but cooperation and temporary measures saw them through. In 1964 the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), announced two universal thread systems: ISO Inch and ISO Metric. The United States is the only country still tied to the inch system.

The center of the industry – American moves west: As the country expanded toward the west, so did the center for fastener manufacturing. Cleveland, Ohio, which was close to the expanding railroads and steel and iron production, became the capital of the fastener industry in America. The industry saw steady growth throughout the 20th century. By 1969 there were 450 companies, 600 plants, and more than 50,000 people employed in fastener production. Nuts, bolts, screws and rivets put meat and potatoes on the dinner tables of many a family. However, the next twenty years would bring steady decline. The increasing availability of less expensive product from overseas cut into demand for American product.

“Bogus Bolts”: In 1985, a controversy surfaced with reports of equipment failure and even the loss of life due to faulty, substandard bolts. A U.S. House subcommittee spent 18 months on an investigation and ultimately determined that the faulty and counterfeit bolts were largely foreign-made. This led to the passage in 1990 of the FQA – Fastener Quality Act. This reignited demand for American made fasteners. By 2007, the fastener industry in the U.S. was a $14 billion part of the economy. Competition from foreign manufacturers continues, however, the U.S. maintains its leadership by responding to the need for technologically sophisticated products. The aerospace industry, the medical and food industries, energy producers, and the semiconductor industry all have a requirement for special materials such as A286, Inconel 718, PVDF, or MP35N, as well as for uncompromising quality and strength. The U.S. fastener industry continues to respond to these needs with unsurpassed excellence.

Cricket Batting Troubleshoot – Being Bowled Through the Gate

All cricket batsman, at one time or another, have been bowled through the gate. Where the ball sneaks between your cricket bat and pad and you hear the sickening sound of your stumps being knocked over. This can happen when defend or when you are on the attack trying to drive through the cover.

There are quite a few things that can cause this to happen, but here are a few of the major reasons you might struggle with this problem when you bat.

Poor Foot Movement

Your front foot has to try and get to the pitch of the ball. All your weight has to be transferred onto the front foot taking your whole body to the line of the ball.

Bad Timing

You might have great foot movement and get to the pitch of the ball. And you even have the bat and pad close together leaving no gap for the ball to pass through – yet it did. It is because your timing is off. Your bat reaches your pad when the ball has already passed through the gap.

So, just because our bat and pad is close together does not mean you got the gap covered. You must make sure you have the timing correct as well.

Moving Too Early

If you move too early with your feet you might plant your front foot in the wrong position. What happens then is you find yourself playing away from the body and leaving a wide gap between bat and pad. The key is too spot the ball early and move as late as possible. Only move after you sure you have picked up the line of the ball. Obviously that happens in a split second -therefore you must practise to move late to make it second nature.
