Review of Barrington Fiberglass Entry Doors by Masonite

Builders, remodelers and homeowners are constantly looking for the best construction materials to use in houses, with durability, attractiveness and longevity in mind. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you would hate for your residential sanctuary to fall apart faster than it took to come together. The front door, the first most noticeable part of a house, is also sadly one of the most overused and overexposed. This has been a sore point for wood, which is prone to rotting, warping, folding and splitting. Door makers are now playing cat and mouse over fiberglass and composite material, which can withstand shifting weather conditions and daily wear and tear. Barrington fiberglass entry doors, the premium product collection by a long-time door manufacturer, Masonite, are among top rated examples of smarter alternatives to wooden exterior doors.

Upon review, what is emerging as the most attractive quality of Barrington doors is that they emulate authentic wood doors. Wood had been favored as the surface material for doors, with good reason. It exhibits the kind of timeless craftsmanship that you have come to love about traditional doors. Barrington fiberglass entry doors have been given a wood grain surface made to resemble the real hardwood doors of old. In a choice of oak or mahogany texture, this variable-depth wood grain finish shows how present-day technology can closet itself in a neat classic package. A second stand-out quality of Barrington doors is their customized make. Fiberglass doors typically use generic glass inserts but the Barrington line uses proprietary decorative glass in an array of designs, which has been factory-glazed using custom glazing ingredients so that it is wider, with narrower stiles and rails. Custom glass frames have been designed to align correctly with the panel.

In this vein, composite material that resists rotting has been used for the bottom rail while hinge and lock stiles have been engineered with laminated lumber. A raised moulding has been integrated into the door facing to come as a singular piece, not like plant-on appliques break apart from the door. All Barrington doors have a square-edge design and a reinforced lock area to make a solid mounting surface.

While less meticulous door makers have been on fire for functional but none too fetching products, the Barrington brand has not neglected beauty. This is evident not only in the likeness to traditional hardwood doors but also in designs intended to cater creatively to the high-end market. The Sierra series of Barrington fiberglass doors coordinates with Southwest, Spanish or Mediterranean motifs. It features the first ever non-glazed, opaque finish on a Barrington door. It has a 2-panel camber top design and custom panel profile, with options of planks and matching full sideline panels. The Craftsman series is fashioned after mission or craftsman architecture. Three recessed panels and a one-lite glazing system are its other elements, with the option of a matching one-panel, one-lite sidelite panel.

Shoppers are quick to forget considering the company behind the brand, which especially matters when buying a product that is expected to work well or last long. In this case, Barrington fiberglass entry doors as well as interior doors and patio doors are backed by the trusted name of Masonite, based out of Tampa, Florida. For a bit of history, founder William Mason was a researcher, engineer and inventor who had innovated the use of wood for the creation of building materials in 1924. Masonite has since been manufacturing doors and building products for over 80 years, and has one of the largest research and development centers for steel, composite, fiberglass and wood doors.

Discover 3 Secret Tips For Learning to Kitesurf on a Surfboard

So you have reached the point in your kitesurfing where you want to learn to kite surf a surfboard in the waves? Kitesurfing in the waves is a thrilling way to take your kiteboarding to the next level. You will use a lot of the same skills as when kiteboarding on a twin-tip, but there are some subtle differences that I will point out. By following these 3 tips, you will learn to kiteboard on a surfboard in no time.

The first time you attempt to kite board on a surfboard, I recommend NOT doing it in the waves. You will feel that kite surfing on a surfboard is like learning to kiteboard all over again. The first few minutes, you will feel that the board is very bouncy and wants to move all over the place. This is why I recommend not heading immediately into the waves to kite surf. After a few sessions of kitesurfing on a directional board at your local kite beach, you will become comfortable with the feeling. From here you can head into the waves to start doing your basic kitesurfing turns and kitesurfing jibes or gybes.

The first tip involves the most common mistake kiteboarders make when first learning on a surfboard. This is to do a kiteboard waterstart with both feet in the foot-straps. But believe it or not, you only want your front foot in the strap and your back foot directly on the board in front of the rear strap. If you have both feet in the straps, you will have so much weight on the back of the board that you cannot generate enough power with the kite to do your water-start. In addition, as you ride with your back foot directly in front of the rear strap, you will kitesurf upwind much better. This is standard, but not intuitive advice for kiteboarders learning to kite surf on a directional kiteboard.

The second tip for learning to kite surf on a surfboard is to use a slightly smaller kite than you would normally kiteboard with. This is because surfboards have more volume, thus float more. On your first few days you will be so heavily focused on controlling the surfboard, that you do not want to have to worry about being overpowered.

The third tip involves how to turn. Before trying to turn on a surfboard, I recommend riding out as normal. Stopping, switching the board around, and riding back to the beach. Once you do this a few times, you will be able to determine which leg you are most strong with as your front leg. After you establish which direction will be your normal stance and which will be your toe-side stance, you can think about jibing. Jibing just takes practice. The easiest kite surf gybe is to go from toe-side back to your normal stance.

After you kitesurf jibe, simply take your back foot out of the strap and place almost near your front foot. From here, remove your front foot and place it near the back strap. When you are starting to do this, its best to have the kite at 11 o’clock or 1 o’clock. This is so you still have some forward power, yet the kite is always pulling you up out of the water.

Once you have mastered your kitesurf water starts and turns on a surfboard, you will probably want to start thinking about taking some kitesurfing holidays to find some waves to satisfy your new kitesurfing skill.

Retractable Screen Doors – Roll Them Up When You Don’t Need Them

Old fashioned screen doors are handy when it gets too warm but you’d rather not turn on the air conditioning. They let fresh air in and keep bugs and wildlife out. However they’re also in the way when coming and going especially if they’re not currently in use. They can bang loudly if you don’t close them carefully and mechanisms can stick. Ever tried to move a big piece of furniture in through a propped open screen door? It’s a pain, especially when the door won’t open all the way.

A retractable screen door is the answer to all your screen door problems. They operate using the same kind of technology that roll up window blinds function on. When you’re not using them, they roll neatly away until you need them. This takes up less space than a regular screen door and keeps them out of the way. Oddly enough, although these doors have been around for decades, most people still haven’t heard of them. There are four major manufacturers of these doors, and lots of different brands. In general, however, they’re easy to install and take only a few tools. You can put them in yourself, or have them installed by the dealer for a small price.

One place that retractable screen doors are really useful is in areas where you wouldn’t be able to install a screen door normally. For instance, doors that open both inward and outward can’t use a conventional screen door. You also can’t install a regular screen on sliding glass patio doors (unless it’s a specialty patio screen), double French doors, or doors where there’s not enough clearance. A retractable screen can offer you the ability to screen all these types of door, making it a lot easier to let fresh air in without inviting the whole world.

Retractable screen doors aren’t just for the outside of the house, though. They can also be used on interior doors when you’d like to make a light barrier without closing off a space. Use them between the garage and the main part of the house, to block off a screen porch, or to keep kids and pets in a room while you keep an eye on them. They have plenty of uses, and can be installed in spaces where you could fit an ordinary screen.

If you’re tired of dealing with a regular screen door, or would like to have screens in a location that’s not suited for conventional doors, look into your retractable options. A retractable screen door is easy to have installed or to install yourself, reliable, and convenient to use. Check one out today.

10 Ways to Treat Endometriosis Naturally

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a painful condition in which endometrial tissue, which lines the uterus, can appear in the pelvic cavity and elsewhere in the body where it doesn’t belong. Endometriosis is one of the most frequent diseases in gyneacology, affecting 15-20% of women in their reproductive life, contributing to 5% cases of infertility. Scientists do not know exactly how the tissue ends up where it doesn’t belong but there are a number of theories which I mention below.

Regardless of where it is located this endometrial tissue will behave in the same way as the uterus lining by responding to monthly cycling of hormones and bleeds during menstruation. In the case of Endometriosis, because the shed endometrial tissue and blood in other parts of the body can not leave the body through the vagina as the menstrual blood can, it forms scar tissue and painful adhesions. Endometrial growths are most commonly found in the pelvic cavity and can grow on ovaries, pelvic ligaments, tubes, bowel and bladder.

There are a few theories as to how the tissue manages to migrate. Some suggesting retrograde flow of menstrual blood and seeding or attaching to other tissues, while others suggest endometrial cells being laid down in the wrong places during the embryologic development of the foetus. This theory emerged as it could not be explained how endometrial tissue reached the brain though the retrograde flow of menstrual blood? Many women experience retrograde flow into the abdominal cavity via the fallopian tubes, but this is usually picked up by the immune system and cleaned up by macrophages. Yet another theory suggests that endometrial growths start from stem cells and are caused by a combination of factors. Endometriosis can cause heavy and painful periods, abnormal bleeding and infertility.

As endometriosis has been associated with the presence of auto-antibodies and the presence of other autoimmune diseases, scientists are now suggesting that endometriosis is an autoimmune disease.

Although genetic predisposition, environmental factors and altered immune and endocrine function are believed to play a significant role in endometriosis, the true cause still remains unclear.

How does endometriosis lead to infertility?

If the endometrial tissue grows within the fallopian tubes it can block them. Due to inflammation there are a high number of macrophages in the area which can destroy the sperm and interfere with implantation. Ovulation may or may not occur, and even if it does occur there may not be enough progesterone to support the implantation. The risk of ectopic pregnancy is higher than usual. Anti-endometrial antibodies may be responsible for the high incidence of miscarriages and poor implantation often associated with this condition.

Here are 8 ways you can treat endometriosis – naturally

Endometriosis is viewed as an estrogen dependent condition and the endometrial implants have been shown to reduce in size when estrogen levels in the body normalize or drop. Studies have found that inflammation resulting from bleeding of the endometrial implants each month actually increases estrogen activity. Another contributing factor is low progesterone which can lead to anovulatory cycles.

1. Eat organically grown food and avoid exposure to commercial insect repellents. Studies have found that exposure to chlorinated hydrocarbons (e.g., DDT, PCB, pentachlorophenol, hexachlorocyclohexane) has been associated with an increase in rates of miscarriage and endometriosis.

2. Avoid soft plastics. This includes drinking out of plastic water bottles, storing your food in plastic food wrappers, wearing surgical gloves, buying products in food wrap and touching printing ink with your hands. What do all these have in common? They contain Phthalates and PVC. Known endocrine disruptors and estrogen mimickers, linked to asthma, negative developmental and birth defects, immune system dysfunction, endometriosis and infertility.

3. Reduce your intake of animal products. The first line of natural treatment for endometriosis is to minimize intake of animal products due to the high content of hormones, pesticides and herbicides which are known endocrine disruptors.

4. Eat bitter foods to support clearance of estrogen via the liver. They are grapefruit, lemons, limes, rocket, endive, romaine lettuce, artichokes. To the same end drink dandelion and St. Mary’s thistle tea.

5. Avoid allergens and take immune system supplements. As you’ve seen the immune system plays a role in endometriosis. As such you want to make sure you provide your immune system with all the key elements required for optimal function. They are vitamin C, vitamin E, betacarotene, zinc and selenium and probiotics. In addition have an IgG 90 foods intolerance test. This will show you what foods you are intolerant to. These need to be avoided to help balance the immune system.

6. Exercise regularly to improve circulation, toxin and waste removal. Exercise also boosts your metabolism (which is good for your endocrine function) and immune system. Both of which are crucial in treatment of endometriosis.

7. Include foods that promote circulation and waste removal. The following foods and spices promote circulation and waste removal cayenne, basil, chives, eggplant, garlic, ginger, kohlrabi, leek, nutmeg, pepper, rice, rosemary, scallion, spearmint, turmeric, cinnamon, lemons, zest of lemon, seaweed.

8. Increase your fibre intake to improve estrogen clearance from your intestines, including: adzuki beans, psylium husks, apples, other legumes, nuts and seeds.

9. Take a high quality fish oil (make sure the one you choose is tested for mercury and stabilized with vitamin E (to protect it from oxidation)). Fish oil reduces inflammation associated with endometriosis, minimizing associated pain and improving the odds of healthy implantation. I recommend Krill oil (the plankton whales and other fish eat) as it’s less likely to be contaminated. Ideally you want to have 1000mg three times a day with food. Store it in the fridge. To see which supplement I recommend go to the site below.

10. Take an iodine supplement there is an established link between hypothyroidism and endometriosis and so taking an iodine supplement can correct underactive thyroid function.

UAE Shipping

Apart from trade with other worldwide countries even the imports and exports the Middle East countries have led to a phenomenal growth and expansion of the transport and logistics industry . To cope up with the intense market demand and also to provide support for the growth of the U.A.E logistics industry, the U.A.E shipping industry is gearing up to cover important transport and logistics industry services like U.A.E cargo, freight transport, ports management and materials handling etc.

As per a recent industry survey almost 25% of logistic operators from the region agree in unison that the Middle East has the potential to offer more growth facilities than North or South America particularly for the logistics and transport industry and is great news for the U.A.E shipping industry. Most of these operators are formulating their business expansion strategies based on the development of their trade routes and infrastructure in the region.

Worldwide industry leaders feel that the Middle East is developing rapidly and that too threefold- locally, regionally and globally, particularly in the transport and logistics sector. Moreover with the increase in global and regional trade between Europe and Asia has further triggered unexpected business opportunities and the U.A.E has the means to capitalize on this situation. Its strength lies in its strategic geographic location and convenient accessibility.

The Middle-East region is the link between East-West intercontinental trades as most of the strategic trade routes pass through this region. The U.A.E shipping sector is growing at a rapid rate due to the increase in oil revenues and opening up of regional economies to worldwide countries.

Sensing this phenomenal growth the regional ports of the Middle-East are being expanded with expansion plans planned up to the next five years. Industry experts feel that the current growth rate which is very rapid at the moment will continue. This growth is prompting foreign businesses to shift their facilities to the U.A.E. All this has turned the U.A.E shipping industry into a worldwide shipping hub.

If you are into shipping then you can very well avail various shipping services in the U.A.E like import and export of goods, ship repairing and refueling etc. You would be amazed to know that almost 50% of the international trading fleet passes through the shores of U.A.E and that too twice a year.

Gradually the U.A.E shipping industry has become an all encompassing as well as complex industry. Almost about half a billion dollars is being spent annually for procuring ship/vessel building, repairing and servicing materials. On the other hand the U.A.E-based Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (H.F.Z.A), Sharjah, is on the verge of establishing a new maritime city here for the benefit of marine and maritime-related industries.

In fact the maritime service sector looks very promising and this venture is expected to have solid infrastructure as well as excellent facilities.

Using BR111 Flooring in Your Home

Exotic species are the latest trend in hardwood flooring. Exotic full and engineered hardwood flooring has become more affordable in recent years, and, as a result, the consumer looking to do something different to the interior of his or her home goes for it. Brazilian cherry and tigerwood are two of the more common species, as both offer a palette of colors not typically found in domestic species. Brazilian cherry, for example, has a deep red patina, while the contrasting grain of tigerwood is unusual. BR111 has become one of the more well-known manufacturers of exotic hardwood flooring, as their product line focuses exclusively on exotic species.

Exotic hardwood flooring is more often than not from South America, although Australian and African species can be found, as well. Exotic hardwoods are known to be stronger than oak, one of the more common domestic species, and come in solid and engineered varieties. The latter aspect is particularly important. Not all homes can add exotic hardwoods, and manufacturers like BR111 offer nearly all species in engineered and solid options. Engineered hardwood allows the homeowner to add wood flooring over a radiating heat source or over concrete.

What are typical species of exotic hardwood flooring? The selection of BR111 includes various South American species. Amendoim is the most popular and, in addition to Brazilian Cherry and tigerwood, Brazilian walnut, Santos mahogany, angico, Brazilian oak, Brazilian teak, macchiato pecan, and Brazilian hickory are all possibilities. Flooring by BR111 comes in finished and unfinished options for engineered and solid hardwood.

Deciding on which type of BR111 flooring is best for your home comes down to both practicality and tastes. On the practical front, are you replacing an entire or part of a floor? For the former, pre-finished hardwood allows you to get the job done quicker. Additionally, if your home has a radiating heat source, going with an engineered exotic hardwood will make your flooring last longer.

What You Need to Do Now To Lower Your Healthcare Costs

We often think of medical expenses at a time when we are least capable of coping with them – when we're sick. With healthcare costs increasing as we age, the sooner we plan for our health, the sooner we'll start planning a healthier life. So what do we do as we face medical bills looming over us threatening to wipe out our retirement nest egg in our golden years?

According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute a man who retires at 65 can expect to live until 83. He will need to have around $ 65k to $ 109k in those years to cover insurance premiums and out of pocket expenses. That works out to $ 270 to $ 450 a month.

For women, the EBRI says retiring at 65 and living until 85 will mean she'll need $ 88k to $ 146k for insurance premiums and out of pocket expenses which works out to $ 366 to $ 608 a month. Both men and women will need these amounts on hand to provide a 50% chance of having enough to cover these expenses. If you're getting $ 1000 a month from Social Security these costs will eat up about 25% to 60% of those payments alone.

If you have managed to secure a considerable nest egg, good for you. If you have not, it might be time get some part time work. Beside, retirement is boring. You know, all that rest and relaxation gets old pretty quick.

Here's a novel idea that can save you money on healthcare costs. According to the National Foundation for anti-aging, "most aging is premature." Poor posture, low energy, brittle bones are not aging, but a disease. Sitting around, also known as the Disuse Syndrome causes fatigue, frailness and aging at a much faster rate. You can stay out of the health care merry-go-round much better with some good habits. And just how do you do that? Start an exercise program geared towards your needs, abilities or limits. That means if you have limited mobility, seek seated exercise programs. If your knees are gone, ride a bike or do some gentle exercise programs. If you have asthma, do not take up hiking in the mountains. Start slow and take walks around the neighborhood. It's important to find something you enjoy because you're more likely to do it. The more you do it the healthier you get. If you have arthritis, do an exercise program especially for arthritis and limber up your joints and muscles.

You need not strive to be an athlete. If you are just getting started, exercise will make you healthy. You'll have stronger muscles to lift things, denser bones to absorb shock from falls and a stronger heart to pump more blood and oxygen to all the organs in your body which makes them all work better. Pills, sometimes necessary, are not always easy fix and can cause many undesirable side effects and mask the symptoms. Exercise can get to the root of the problem and eliminate the cause. There are countless examples of people who were taking a dozen pills a day that went down to 2, 3 or none a day because of regular exercise.

The healthier you are, the less likely it is you will have to employ the skills and costs of doctors, nurses, physical or occupational therapists and pharmacists for whatever ails you. They worked long and hard to acquire those skills and they can not afford to work cheap. You worked long and hard for your retirement and you can not afford to lose it all to Twinkies and watching TV. Plan for your health now instead of being a patient for your health care plan.

Firepits Gain Popularity

One of the most popular home upgrades today is the addition of a backyard fireplace. There's something special about sitting around the glow of a fire that makes people feel good. That's one reason many people go camping, for the simple joy of sitting by a crackling campfire, but an increasing number of homeowners are taking advantage of recent improvements in technology to have that same experience without having to leave home.

If that sounds appealing to you, you'll have a number of options to choose from, depending upon your own personal taste and budget. At the high end of the scale, you could get a propane type of unit that comes in a terra cotta vase-like container. Those types of outdoor fireplaces come in a variety of styles and sizes, but a popular one is marketed by PR Imports, weighing about 75 pounds, standing at about four feet tall, and featuring a layer of fire rock at the bottom of the unit. The unit is attractive and would look good on any patio, yet has the added advantage of requiring virtually no cleanup, since you would not be burning any solid matter.

If you like the look of an indoor freestanding fireplace, a company called Tiverton markets a black steel version that's designed to be used outside. It comes with a log rack and a poker, just like an indoor fireplace, and has an ash drawer that allows for easy cleaning. It stands about six feet tall and it's appearance is rustic enough to make it at home with most outdoor furniture. It's also about two and a half feet deep, so it can accomodate fairly sizable pieces of wood.

If you prefer the even more rustic appeal of a firepit, you'll still have a number of choices, including one that features a copper cauldron. It's like putting your campfire in a large hand-hammered copper pot, measuring about three feet across and two feet deep. It's large enough to become the focal point of a significant gathering. You'll have to start your fire just like you've got to on a camping trip, but that's part of the unit's appeal for many folks, and cleanup is solely simple. All you have to do is dump out the ashes by turning the bowl upside down.

There's also a propane version of that type of firepit available, if you're so inclined, with molded logs that appear to be burning. That version also features the same easy cleanup as the propane-powered terra cotta unit, since no solid material is actually burned.

There are a number of actual firepit rings available that can be customized any way you want, again depending only upon your imagination and budget. Typically, a custom firepit should be about 18 inches tall, to prevent sparks from escaping – and possibly ending up in your guest's lap. A diameter of 30 inches offers plenty of room for a nice-sized fire. Stone or concrete blocks are generally used to surround the firepit, though you could dress up the pit by using a more decorative stone, such as slate.

If you like the look of an outdoor fire, you'll be able to find a firepit to suit your taste, since it's a growing trend among landscape designers. Then you can sit around at night and dream of romantic adventures as the shadows dance all around you.

How to Set Up A Network Printer For a Home Or Small Office

Adding a network printer to your home or small office can seem like a daunting task, especially if it is an older printer, or one that is angled towards office or home office use. This usually includes many laser printers, and larger printing stations. The task itself is usually pretty far from intimidating, and we will cover the basics of installing a wired or wireless network printer on one, or multiple computers in 3 simple steps.

Note – If your printer comes with an install disk, please use the install disk and disregard these instructions unless the disk install fails. There may be needed software on the disk that can cause a manual install to not work properly.

Step 1: Connect your printer to the network:

If your printer connects to the network with a standard cable, plug one end into the printer, and the other into your router… Wasn’t that easy?

If your printer connection wireless is, use the control panel, or configuration options of your printer to connect to the wireless network. This is usually done by going to settings, scrolling to network settings, and then choosing to turn WLAN on. After that, use the utility to search for the network you want, and enter the security key using the printers built in method.

If the printer does not have an option to configure a wireless connection internally, you will need to download software from the manufacturers website, and use a temporary USB connection to configure the wireless information.

Step 2: Configure the relevant IP addresses.

Most small networks operate fully on DHCP, and the downside of this is that if your router is rebooted, there is a chance that the new IP address will be assigned differently, and this can cause issues with the next step. The easiest way to do this is to set up a DHCP reservation for the printer, so that it is always assigned the same address.

First, print a network configuration page from the printer. You will need it’s information. Then log into your router’s control panel. This is almost always done by opening a web browser, and going to one of two possible addresses (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) If a password window pops up, you are in the right place. Consult your routers documentation for the default passwords if you do not know them.

You may need to consult your specific router’s documentation for creating a DHCP reservation, but the general process on many routers goes something like this: Click on the status tab, and then look for an option that says something like “connected devices.” In this menu, look for a button labled “DHCP clinets information” Click that, and then reference the configuration page you printed out earlier. Look for the ip address of your printer in the clients list, and choose add a DCHP reservation under the appropriate IP. Fill in the fields, and you are all set!

Step 3: Install the printer on computer(s)

The steps for this are very similar across many versions of windows. Once the network is configured, open control panel, and choose Devices and Printers (just Printers for XP). In this window, click add a new printer.

A window will pop up asking if you want to add a local printer, or a network printer… Here is the trick. You choose add a local printer, and then uncheck the box that says “automatically look for my plug and play printer.” (if the box is not there, ignore this.) The next step is to choose to create a new standard TCP/IP port, so select create a new port, and use the TCP/IP port option. When it asks for port information, input the ip address of the printer, and then click next.

A window may pop up asking about network cards and servers. Unless you are using a print server (not covered in this article) then simply click next.

A list of manufacturers and devices will then come up, and all you need to do is locate your printer to install the drivers. If your printer is not on the list, you will need to download the drivers from the manufacturer, and then use the “Have Disk” button to locate the appropriate driver. Once the driver is selected, click next and choose the options you would like in the subsequent menus. When the sharing and miscellaneous items have been completed, click finish, and if everything is set up right, aa test page should print.

If that works, you are done!

If not… Check to make sure you have the right driver file, and then check to make sure your IP information is properly set.

Three Tips for a Do It Yourself Paint Project

One of the easiest and fastest renovation projects you can do is changing the paint color of a room. It is reliably inexpensive, but has a drastic effect on the overall 'look' of any room in your home.

Painting is also one of the most popular do-it-yourself projects, but many people make some simple mistakes which can cause the finished job to look like it was a do-it-yourself job.

To create a professional paint job, there are three simple tips which will have a huge effect on your painting.

1. Always prime before you paint. A while ago a friend of mine phoned in complete frustration. After painting a wall four times, he could still see an old stain. He explained how after the first two coats looked good, then a few days later the stain was visible. And after his fourth coat and a gallon of paint he did not know what to do.

My response. "Did you prime the walls?" Of course his response was no. I went on to explain to him that especially with stains, you need to use a sealing primer to stop a stain from coming through your new paint.

Paint provides durability and color, but not bonding and stain blocking.

Save yourself time, frustration, and money. Prime before you paint, it gives you a nicer, smoother finish and seals any impurities from 'boring' through the paint.

2. Choose the correct finish. There is nothing worse than spending hours painting to create your new room, and in the first week someone puts a dirty hand print on your wall. You grab your damp rag and wipe it off, to discover you wiped off paint at the same time. Now your fresh wall has a different color splotch.

When you are choosing paint, ensure you are getting the right finish as well as the color you want. You do not want to put a flat finish in a high traffic area because flat paint can not be washed.

In the same instance you do not want a high gloss finish in a room with a lot of natural light, as they will literally sparkle and show every flow or discipline in your wall.

Think in terms of traffic, light, and room use as you choose both your paint color and finish.

3. Let the paint work. You spend a lot of time prepping the walls or doors, carefully sanding and priming so you will have the perfect finish. As you start to paint you realize there are horrible brush marks everywhere. All your prep work is for nothing if your paint brush leaves lines everywhere.

When you are painting with a brush, do not overwork the paint. Brush it on and let the paint flow to fill the brush marks. By pressing too hard or not using enough paint on your brush, you will not get rid of those brush marks.

If you do get brush marks, let it dry, sand with 220 grit sand paper to rough up the surface, and repaint allowing the paint to fill in the lines, not you.

This is not the type of workout to put forth any half effort! If you really want the increase in performance by increasing your athletic explosive ability to improve your vertical jump then this is just for you! The kettleblell is a great tool for applying great total-body tension which is the key ingredient for building strength and power. Different parts of the body can be more emphasized than other parts, but the bell is the master of generating that total-body strength and conditioning.

1. The Overhead Snatch: If you are not familiar with this particular lift then you need to do your homework! This particular lift is the kettlebell version of the Olympic snatch lift. For the purpose of this article I am referring to executing a single arm overhead snatch. This lift is explosive and promotes serious shoulder stability, core strength, hip strength, and overall explosive vertical mobility! This lift trains your body in a highly effective manner by stimulating the nervous system causing your body to develop that athletic explosiveness that is necessary for increasing your vertical jump. You can perform this lift by doing intense weight working more on training your power, or by testing your endurance and doing a high volume of repetitions.

2. The Jerk: Just like the traditional barbell Olympic lift the same lift can be executed with the kettlebells. This is a slightly different variation because you are dealing with having to stabilize a kettlebell in each arm. Each side has to be more independently stabilized to optimally execute the lift. As you clean the bells to your chest from the floor you have to then explosively utilize the hips to drive forward getting the bells vertical and locked out above your head. This is another great lift to improve you vertical jumping ability.

Aqua Aerobics

If you were looking to change up your aerobic routine, I would suggest you try water aerobics. Also known as aqua aerobics or aqua-fit. Water aerobics is similar to any other kind of cardio exercise. You run, do jumping jacks, perform arm movements and kicks, except you are in the water.

Benefits of Aqua Aerobics Include:

-Resistance from the water

-Easy on joints

-Easy on muscles

-Allows a greater range of motion (ROM)

-Prevents overheating during exercise

-Increased cardio endurance

-Increased flexibility

-Increased muscle tone

-Privacy if you are uncomfortable jumping around in a room full of people

-Water massages the muscles. You will finish your workout feeling great and also, sweat free!

Water aerobics is perfect for older adults who deal with muscles and joint conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and recent surgeries. The movements are much slower than land aerobics and the social atmosphere is wonderful for making new friends. Many facilities cater classes to the OA population by regularly introducing classes designed to help along the healing of hip and knee replacements, as well as stretch classes.

Aqua aerobics is also incredibly beneficial to people recovering, and with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, joint problems, soft-tissue injury, cardiac patients, pregnancy and obesity.

You can find aqua aerobic classes at fitness facilities that have a pool, or your local community centre. There are multiple classes out there for all ages and skill levels, including water-boxing, aqua step, boot camps and ab classes.

However, you don’t need an organized class to enjoy exercising in the water. Swimming is one of the best cardio exercises and if you already participate, or want to build your endurance up to the point where you can swim, add your own routine to the beginning or end of your swim.

Exercises to try:

-Run as fast as you can forward, backwards and side steps

-Kick forward, backwards and to the side

-Bend your elbows slightly and move your arms in front of yourself and then behind, in a circular motion.

-Squats and lunges

-Somersaults

-Dancing

-Grab a floatation device to do leg raises and planks

-Hang on the the side of the pool for flutter kicks

It’s always fun to try new things and it’s also crucial to seeing results that you do! So grab your swimsuit and head out to your nearest pool. See for yourself how fabulous water aerobics can actually be!

Try It Out!

To begin, a credit card debit settlement letter is as the title suggests, a letter that you write to your creditors in which you negotiate for or request that they settle your reduce the balance of what you owe. The credit card company then responds with an offer of settlement, in which they will agree to a payment plan or to forgive a portion of what you owe, this will be their counter offer.

The negotiation for the settlement of your debt will continue until you reach an agreement with your lender. It is common for the card company to settle a half to two thirds of your debt in order to settle the account. The lenders, for accounting purposes would rather walk in most cases than to continue to hound you for any delinquent accounts.

Avoid negotiating over the phone with your credit, but if you do, make sure that they fax any offer directly to you so you have documentation.

  • Begin your debt negotiation very low, do not worry about being outrageous, they will counter your offer and you never know, they might accept.
  • Make it very clear to your creditor that you intend and wish to pay your debt, but are unable to, detail your hardship, and communicate with them as they are more willing to help than you might expect.
  • Check your debt settlement letter for spelling and grammar errors, and write as clearly as possible.
  • There is no need to sound 'legal,' it is OK to sound like an average person and not a lawyer, just clearly state your purpose with the letter.

There are services that can help you with your credit card debt settlement letter if you do not wish to do it yourself. Attorneys can help and they are knowledgeable and it can be beneficial to consult an attorney, but they are expensive, and for smaller debts it is not necessary.

Eight Reasons Why You Can Call Yourself a Nurse Detective

Like a good mystery? Love to see a detective put together clues to solve a crime? You may not realize it, but being a nurse is like being a detective. I compared what you need to be a detective with what you need to be a nurse and found these eight ways the two careers are similar:

1. Both must be knowledgeable

Detectives know their territory. They figure out how to get around, what type of soil is found where and when it rained. They can look at a person’s shoes or car tires and know where he has been.

Nurses’ territory is their patient. They must find out: Why is he here? What signs and symptoms do I need to watch for to prevent complications from his illness? What goals must he and I meet for him to get better?

2. Both need to cultivate an eye for detail

Detectives observe their surroundings carefully, even when they think there is nothing special to observe, because they never know what might end up being important to solve their case. Nurses observe even the littlest thing about a patient because they know every bit of information may make a difference in that patient’s care or recovery.

3. Both must learn to read people’s faces.

Detectives and Nurses watch body language and notice whether it seems natural and agrees with their words. Criminals might be lying to avoid incrimination. Patients might be hiding the truth because of embarrassment, lack of understanding or cultural beliefs. A patient may say he’s not in pain, but have facial grimacing.

4. Both get good at searching for information.

Detectives and nurses must know what they don’t know and know where to find it. Detectives go to the public record. Nurses go to the patient’s chart.

5. Both skillfully ask questions.

Detectives and Nurses get to the heart of a matter without putting somebody on their guard or making them unnecessarily uncomfortable.

6. Both document well

Detectives keep careful notes of what they find. Nurses know if they didn’t document what they did, as far as the world is concerned, they did not do it.

7. Both become techno-savvy

Detectives and Nurses know how to use a computer and find information via the internet.

8. Both value their team

Detectives and Nurses have trustworthy teams to back them up and help get the job done. Colleagues are important to solve the crime and give high quality care to patients. Neither profession can do it alone!

Both Nurses and Detectives must possess good observational and critical thinking skills to gather evidence, sort through facts and examine details to come to conclusions. Detectives solve crimes to get criminals off the streets. Nurses solve problems to prevent illness and to assist people recover from illness. So if you are a LPN or RN, feel free to start calling yourself a Nurse Detective.
