The Cardinal Bird Feeder – What Works Best?

The intention of a cardinal bird feeder, of course, would be to attract the cardinal. This bird, of course, is probably the single most popular bird for backyard bird watchers. However, to the dismay of many, there really is no cardinal feeder per se. But, the bird certainly has both feeder and seed preferences. Let’s take a look!

First, what doesn’t work that well.

The tube feeder is quite popular. However, don’t make the mistake of thinking it a favorite of the cardinal. I’ve been watching birds for years and years and I can tell you with complete certainty that this is not your best choice for the cardinal. He has virtually no neck and is forced to turn his whole body sideways to eat from a tube. In addition, he’s just a smidgen too big for most perches.

Some people will advise you to add a tray to the bottom. Granted, you will see the bird more often if you do this. Just keep in mind that Droll Yankees trays fit Droll Yankees tube feeders; Aspects trays fit Aspects tube feeders; Bird Quest trays fit Bird Quest tube feeders.

Do you know which brand you have?

Also, keep in mind that trays attract lots of other birds like grackles and starlings. If these birds visit your tube feeder, you won’t see many cardinals (or any other birds for that matter). Keep in mind the purpose of a tube feeder is to provide for small birds like the tufted titmouse and Carolina chickadee.

Add a tray, in come the medium and large birds, away go the small birds-just like that, you’ve defeated the purpose of the tube.

So what does work?

A proper cardinal bird feeder is any feeder whose design accommodates the cardinal’s preference to “bend at the hip” or not at all when feeding. You want a feeder that doesn’t force the bird to turn its body. A basic hopper feeder is a great choice as a cardinal bird feeder. So is any fly-through bird feeder (a fly-through feeder is open on all sides and has ample space). Also, platform feeders on the ground are ideal cardinal feeders.

There are manufacturers of feeders who describe their product as “cardinal feeder.” The no-no is one such example. Though this feeder does accommodate the cardinal, be careful! Many bird feeders do not do what the manufacturer claims.

The Droll Yankees squirrel proof feeder called the whipper is designed to be a cardinal feeder. The curved perch is a fantastic innovation that accommodates the bird perfectly. The Brome Care “squirrel buster” squirrel proof feeder, with its detachable ring, also serves the bird, though the bird does not appear as comfortable on this feeder as he does on the whipper (make no mistake, though, the Brome Care Product is equal and even superior to the Droll Yankees product in many ways).

Seed

What seed should you feed the cardinal? Hands down, safflower. This is a bitter tasting seed that squirrels, grackles and starlings tend not to eat.

If you don’t have these pests floating around, any quality bird seed will do. Black oil sunflower seed and sunflower hearts (chips) are favorites of the cardinal. He’ll eat most blends, too but don’t use big box blends–they’re full of filler that birds don’t eat.

I’ve seen cardinals eat fruit–you’ll need a fruit feeder for this.

So, what is my favorite cardinal bird feeder?

You know, my advise to bird watchers desiring to attract cardinals to “get back to basics.” I recommend either a wooden hopper feeder or a fly-through platform feeder serve as their cardinal bird feeder.

If you follow this advise and are patient, I promise that you’ll be visited by this beautiful bird year round!

Ego Boundaries: What Are Ego Boundaries?

The purpose of ego boundaries is to protect the self. And through having these in place, one will know the difference between who they are and who someone else is. They allow for ones inner space to be protected and looked after.

These are not visible to the naked eye like a physical body is. And although everyone has a physical body, it does not mean that everyone has ego boundaries that are invisible.

As ego boundaries are what make one feel safe or unsafe and not the physical body itself; it shows how important they are.

Muscle Building

This may partly explain why so many men and even women have become obsessed with gaining muscle. To compensate for their lack of ego boundaries and the sense of safety that they bring, one looks to create this inner safety by strengthening and armouring their body. I will go deeper into this in a future article.

Benefits

There are many benefits to having ego boundaries. When one has them, they will feel safe to be who they are and on top of that – they will know who they are. This has got to be the primary reasons for having them.

Not only will one know who they are, but they will feel that it is safe enough for them to be themselves. Once this is the case, many other benefits will occur as a consequence.

The relationships that one has will also be a lot more fulfilling. For if one feels safe within and protected, the fear of losing oneself in another will not be there or it will have very little effect.

Opening up to the world and what the world has to offer will also be possible, without fearing that one’s personal space will be invaded. And if it is, one will have the personal strength to set appropriate limits.

Knowing what one wants, needs, desires and what their preferences are will also be normal to this person. And this is due to ego boundaries allowing one to be in tune with what is right for them. Instead of being caught up in what others want one to do or following others in order to feel safe within.

Approval

As one feels safe within to follow their own purpose and all that that means to them, there will not be a strong need to gain the approval of others. This will naturally make one feel free within. Having an inner centre will also be possible and this means that a sense of wellbeing will have a greater chance of being experienced.

No Ego Boundaries

For the person with no ego boundaries, it can create feelings of being: invisible, nonexistent, vulnerable, empty, and wide open to the world. This means that one will not feel safe to be who they are or that they are protected.

There are obviously extremes to this. Even though this could relate to someone who is shy or unconfident for example, it could also relate to someone who is overbearing, overconfident and loud.

However, being taken advantage of and compromised are often consequences for people who have no ego boundaries. This person may find it easy to say yes, but extremely difficult to say no. Through being wide open to the world, one is unlikely to feel safe enough to say no, for the fear of what may happen.

Knowing what their needs, wants, preferences and desires are will be difficult; it will be hard for them to know the difference between what’s theirs and what’s other peoples. And so this means that they are likely to need more approval than people who have strong ego boundaries; simply because they don’t have the same sense of inner safety and protection.

Relationships

For the person who have weak or nonexistent ego boundaries, relationships are unlikely to be rewarding or fulfilling. Here, one may end up becoming either enmeshed to others or avoid them all together.

So if they become enmeshed they will lose the identity that they do have and take on whatever identity they feel will please others. And if they avoid relationships for the fear of losing themselves, then it is only going to lead to pain and suffering.

These two options don’t give one much to work with and very little to feel empowered about.

Two Experiences

People who have strong ego boundaries are having a completely different experience to people who have them. Having no ego boundaries is the recipe for leading a life that is without fulfilment, true happiness, real success or fulfilling relationships. One can feel like a doormat and that there presence on this earth is irrelevant.

When one has boundaries, it can only lead to a more fulfilling existence. Knowing what one wants, experiencing richer relationships, feeling safe to be oneself and protected are just a few benefits

If we were to take two people, one with strong ego boundaries and another with no ego boundaries we would see that they are both human beings. So why are they so different from each other?

Childhood

As a baby one has no ego boundaries, it is when one starts to develop into a child that they should develop. This is because as a baby one doesn’t know the difference between themselves and the caregiver. Through the mother’s empathic care, which is made up of mirroring, validating and attuning to the baby’s needs, it begins to form a sense of individuality.

The baby will sense that it is safe to have needs and that its needs are different to the mothers needs. And this will enable the baby to internalise this model; creating associations of safety and of being protected.

If the one has a caregiver that is unempathic as a baby it will lead to the opposite things happening. The baby’s needs will largely be ignored and covered up with the mothers needs. And through this, the baby will have no connection to its needs. What it will learn is to tune into the needs of others.

What this will result in is not only the loss of ones needs being taken care of, but the loss of a self being created. It is through the mirroring and validating of one’s needs as a baby and then as a child, that allows one to form a self.

The association is, if my needs are ignored then I can’t exist either. Having a caregiver that forces their needs onto the baby and denies the bays needs, is a result of the caregiver having boundaries problems. Perhaps their childhood was the same and carried out the same behaviour.

This means that through their own lack of boundaries they are unlikely to recognise the baby’s personal space. So situations where the caregiver overwhelms, smothers, abandons and rejects the baby are going to be common.

Awareness

What I have described above is just a general guideline and this means that there could be other variations or causes.

These early experiences created the ego minds associations and these associations then become how one perceives others and themselves. They are not the truth; they are simply what have become familiar to the ego mind.

And what is classed as familiar to the ego mind is what is interpreted as safe. This means that as these associations change, one will begin to develop ego boundaries.

How long this process takes will depend on numerous factors. Finding the appropriate support will make a big difference. A good therapist may be needed, for others a supportive friend or book may do.

What Are the Benefits of Solar Lighting?

In the 20th century, the main energy resources as petroleum, natural gas, coal etc. are facing the danger of exhaustion. And at the same time, under the increasing pressure of environmental protection, energy saving and environmental protection have become the development trend in various industries. As inexhaustible clean energy, solar energy will be the most ideal green energy in the 21st century. The effective method to convert solar energy into electrical energy is by solar photovoltaic power generation technologies. LED Emitting Diode is a kind of component which can transform electricity into visible light. With its characteristics of pollution-free, it has already been applied to lighting in many fields. Therefore, as owning the integrated advantage of the solar and LED solid-state lighting — LED solar street light and solar LED lighting system is the perfect combination of new energy and new light source.

And the solar street light series is designed to be powered by solar energy too. The main principle is that solar panel generates the sunlight in daytime and store the transferred electricity in battery, and during night it releases the power to LED lamp for working. Our star product-solar street light has characteristics of uncomplicated and costly pipe laying, the safe and energy-saving, pollution-free, stable and reliable operation, maintenance-free. And our solar street light also can be designed according to the customer's request.

The key for perfect combination of solar and LED lighting lies in that they both use DC low voltage and can match with each other. Their combination does not need to inverter which is used to convert direct current to alternating current. So this function has increased solar street light system efficiency greatly. Meanwhile based on technology of PV grid system, all advantages are more obvious.

Green energy resources and the sustainable development is the important task in 21st century. Nowadays, government pays much attention to the development of new energy, sufficient and reasonable utilization of existing energy. Currently, the solar energy technology and semiconductor lighting industry has stepped to commercialization phase. Relative product has been applied to road lighting, traffic signal lighting, night illumination and courtyard decoration. Through the analysis of the feasibility and technical characteristics, we believe solar system of solar street light will be developed with an unprecedented speed, leading us into a new era of green energy.

LED Solar light is proven to be more suitable when used to street light in last few years: most of its rectangle spot is used within the valid road lighting scope. In the same condition, LED Street light saves 50% -60% power than traditional HPS lamp, still with higher CRI (> 75), which is more suitable for night time lighting.

ShenZhen Spark Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., As a professional solar LED light manufacture and sales, researches and develops continuously, pushing out intelligent LED street light to fit international market. Its intelligent function is mainly realized by light control, time control, temperature control.

You will not need a bulky, ugly electric bread making machine because Agas are renowned worldwide for turning out mouth-wateringly fragrant hand baked breads and cakes. Your tumble drier becomes redundant and there's no more need for radiators in your kitchen … or in the surrounding rooms.

How many miles does an Aga travel? The Aga cooker is made right here in the UK so although it's heavy, it does not have to travel far. As well as employing a whole load of highly skilled people in awkward sleepy Shropshire, the company has sheled out a grand £ 7 million so far to ensure carbon and other emissions from the foundry are cut to the bone. In fact it's so important to the local area and the nation's industrial history that the Aga cookers factory has been named a UN World Heritage site!

The Bidet: Japanese Super Toilet

Toilets in Japan came into their own after the Second World War, when the Japanese were influenced by the American toilets and created their own flush toilets. Prior to that, the Japanese homes and public places had what were called “squat toilets.” Prior to that, they had the toilet built over a trench similar to an outhouse.

Since then, the Japanese toilet industry has come a long way. Although the squat toilets can still be found in some homes and in all public places, some seventy two percent of the Japanese homes are equipped with a modern toilet and bidet. The Japanese that are still holding onto their squat toilets do so in the belief that the squat toilet is healthier because squatting can make your legs stronger, proper elimination will halt colon cancer, elimination is more complete, and more.

Japan’s modern toilet a.k.a the washlet, is the most advanced in the world and has been so noted in the Guinness World Records. The model referred to was built in 1997 and is now considered almost obsolete with the onset of a modern toilet and bidet combination. When you first see the toilet, it looks very much like a Western style toilet but it has many features. Some of the features are: a dryer, heated seat, various options for massage, adjustments for the water jet, the lid opens automatically, it flushes automatically, and it has a wireless panel to control room heating as well as air conditioning. The control panel is either mounted on a wall close to the toilet or attached to the seat.

The combination toilet/bidet has a nozzle, which is the most basic part of the toilet. It is about the size of a pencil and it protrudes from under the toilet seat. This nozzle sends water for cleaning. It can be set to clean the anal area or the genital area. Because of the Japanese concern for hygiene, this nozzle does not touch any part of the person’s body. This nozzle also cleans itself both before it is used and after it is used.

To use the nozzle, one has to find the correct button on the control panel and the nozzle adjusts itself. The same nozzle is used for all operations, but it adjusts itself to different positions and uses different openings to send the water to the right area. In order to avoid being sprayed, the toilet seat is equipped with a sensor that only allows the use of the nozzle when the toilet is being used. The feature that allows for heating the seat is common and is found on toilets that do not have the bidet. The Japanese homes do not have central heating therefore, the bathroom temperature, in cold climates is generally only a few degrees more above freezing where the water is.

These toilets are high tech and will allow you to adjust the pressure of the water and the temperature of the water. The nozzle position can also be adjusted manually and gives you the option of having a pulsating or vibrating water jet. The newest and more advanced toilet will allow you to mix your water with soap. This combination toilet/bidet eliminates toilet paper. A dryer is used to dry the washed area.

Revolving Vs Fixed Credit Card Payment Plans

Let’s assume you have a credit card with an “APR” of 19.8% and a balance of $3,000.00. That shouldn’t be too hard to imagine. However, the sad fact is that most people would probably wish that they only had $3,000.00 worth of credit card debt. Furthermore, credit card interest rates in the mid to upper 20’s that are rivaling 30 percent are not too uncommon these days. But, for this example, let’s just stick with the numbers I mentioned above.

I would like to make one more assumption – let’s also assume that no new debt is going to be added to your credit card’s current balance of $3,000.00 (at least not until after you have paid off your current debt). If you are unable to pay off the full amount at one time, you may want to consider your options by looking at and comparing a few different payment plans. Let’s look at the differences in the payment plans below:

Plan A: A minimum payment of 2.5% of the balance, or $15.00 (whichever is greater) is paid each month until the balance is zero.

By choosing Plan A, it would take 21 years to pay off the original $3,000.00 and the total interest paid during that time would be $5,100.00.

Plan B: A minimum payment of 2.0% of the balance, or $15.00 (whichever is greater) is paid each month until the balance is zero.

By choosing Plan B, it would take 39 years to pay off the original $3,000.00 and the total interest paid during that time would be $10,538.00! So, by lowering the minimum payment by just 0.5% it would cost you an extra 18 years and over $5,000.00 more in the way of interest.

Plan C: A fixed payment of 2.5% of the beginning balance of $3,000.00 (or $75.00 fixed) is paid each month until the balance is zero.

By choosing Plan C, it would take 5.5 years an only cost $1,944.00 extra in interest payments.

The Bottom Line

Plans A and B are what is called “Revolving” payment plans. Revolving payments amounts are always changing – when the balance on the card changes, the payment amount changes. It would be my recommendation that you do not ever get lulled into paying the minimum payment on a credit card bill. I know how enticing it is to pay the lower amount, and that is exactly what the credit card company wants you to do, however, “there is no free lunch” and you will definitely be paying dearly for your indiscretions in the end! I write many posts on the positive power of compound interest with many investing examples; however, a revolving payment plan is a great way to demonstrate compound interest’s negative power as well – negative for you, but positive for the credit card company!

When eliminating debt it is best to stay clear of revolving payment plans. Besides actually paying off the full amount of the debt, the next best option is to make fixed affordable payments similar to that described in Plan C. Of course, if you happen to have extra money to put towards your debt, by all means add that on top of your fixed payment, however, don’t get into the habit of lowering your fixed payment because you want the compound interest to work for you – not against you!

Pest Management: Questions to Ask Before You Choose

If you are tired of pests getting into your house, you might be ready to hire a pest management company to take care of the issue for you. This has many benefits over doing it yourself, including saving you time and ensuring that it gets done the right way. Before you hire a company to do this job, know what information you should find out first.

One of the first questions to ask is what kind of pests the business in question gets rid of. Some only take care of the most common issues, such as ants, roaches, spiders, and mice. Others also include pests that are more difficult to eliminate, such as termites, scorpions, or any other animal or insect that cannot be killed as simply as some. Of course, if you only need to get rid of common problems like ants, you will find that nearly any company can help you, but you may need to look a little harder to find companies that can take care of more complex infestations.

You should also make sure that the chemicals used by pest management services are pet-friendly if you have cats, dogs, or any other pets that roam free in or around the house. Pet-friendly chemicals are usually not harmful to domesticated animals once they are dry, which means that you should still separate your pets from the substances used while they are wet. The business you choose should educate you on what steps to take to keep your pets safe.

It is best to find out policies before you hire anyone. For example, find out if the pest management business you are considering sprays both inside and outside the house, and what their reasoning is. Get to know where they concentrate most of the chemicals, and why that is. Many pest management businesses have different philosophies on this job, and you should know them to help you decide whether you agree with their policies and principles.

Choosing a company to get rid of insects and other pests is usually easy, but finding a good one can take some research. You need to make sure that you understand and agree with the practices, and know how to shield your pets from harm during the procedure. If you want the best results while also knowing that the domesticated animals in your house are safe, you should find out the answers to these questions before choosing a local business to get rid of household pests.

How to Use Hair Inhibitors

Hair inhibitors are one of the lesser known methods for removing hair but they can also be one of the most effective methods when used regularly. One of the reasons why inhibitors are not often considered as regularly as waxing or shaving is the fact that inhibitors are a combined treatment method- you utilize them in conjunction with other, more direct removal methods. Let's take a minute to examine what inhibitors are, how they work and whether they're worth the additional investment on top of no hair removal reviews' recomendations.

Like many forms of hair removal inhibitors are all natural and composed entirely of safe & healthy ingredients. In general they are composed from a proprietary blend of plant enzymes and they not only are safe to apply to your skin but they often effectively cause improved softness and skin health, like moisturizers or other beneficial creams & lotions. The plant enzyme blends within inhibitors work at a molecular level and transform the hair follicle from thick and coarse to thin and very soft. Over time inhibitors cause the hair to basically fade into nothing. Inhibitors work deeply and often prevails hair from growing back altogether.

While all of this probably sounds pretty technical quite the process of applying inhibitors is not any different then applying any other type of lotion after you shave or wax. First you're going to use one of those more traditional methods of removing your hair so that your skin is smooth and clear. Then you're going to apply your inhibitors and rub them into your skin so they penetrate deeply. Often you're going to need to apply your inhibitors multiple times in intervals after your primary hair removal method to really saturate your hair follicles. Because inhibitors need to really get at the root of your follicles they work best combined with root-removal methods like waxing and threading.

Also, because they're all natural you do not need to worry about inhibitors causing damage to your skin, even though they're going to be affecting it on a deep level. There is not any part of your body you can not use them on and you do not need training to apply them, making inhibitors some of the most versatile and useful hair removal methods out there. You do, however, have to use them in conjunction with other methods for a significant amount of time. Most people do not start to see real results for at least a month of treatment, but it can take many months to slow your hair growth down to the point where you barely need to even shave or wax anymore. Inhibitors basically induce the process of balding in the treated area, and balding is a gradual process.

In general inhibitors do not produce permanent hair loss but they can slow down re-growth to the point where hair loss is nearly permanent. Similarly it's important to note that not everyone benefits from inhibitors, some people use them and do not see any results, even after months of diligent applications. The only risks when it comes to inhibitors involve time and money, and if you're willing to take a chance with those then inhibitors are worth trying out.

Enhance Your Room Design With Dynamic Lighting

As an interior designer, I often use lighting to create drama when my client’s decorating budget is tight. By simply adjusting ceiling lights, using inexpensive table lamps, or strategically-placing accent lighting, I’m able to increase a room’s impact at a lower cost.

Lighting has come a long way in the last 10 years. You can now easily find a sophisticated lamp or chandelier within your budget that will help you create beautiful dimension for your interiors.

Before you shop for your ideal lamp or lighting, though, you might want to take a trip to your local art gallery or museum to see how they use lighting to enhance the artwork.

You can also get a lot of great lighting ideas by visiting your local shopping center. You will find a large variety of light fixtures and applications throughout the mall.

Once you’ve gotten ideas, you will want to visit a lighting store to make your purchases. Don’t be intimidated by the huge selection of lighting possibilities. There’s a lighting solution for every need.

Below is a simple guide to lamps and shades.

Lamps

  • Accent lamps: You can use these lamps in bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, entrances and any spot that may need extra lighting. They’re generally under 20″ tall and provide just the right amount of accent lighting.
  • Table lamps: These are usually from 25″ to 32″ tall. You can use table lamps for general purpose lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and family rooms.
  • Desk lamps: These are usually 12″ to 20″ high. You can use them to light a specific work area.
  • Floor lamps: You can use these lamps in dark corners or areas that regular lighting may not reach.

Shades

  • Shade size: There are three dimensions to shade sizes: top diameter, bottom diameter, and height.
  • Shade material: Shades can be made of almost any material. The most common are silk, cotton, linen, plastic/vinyl and paper.
  • Shade height: Generally, the height of the shade should be equal to the measurement taken from the base of the lamp to the bottom of the bulb socket.
  • Shade width: Shades should be at least as wide as the widest point of the lamp body. Many people prefer the lamp shade to be several inches wider than the lamp.
  • Shade length: At eye level, the bottom of the shade should cover the bottom of the socket.

No matter which lamp or shade you select, you’re sure to greatly enhance your room design.

Vegetable Garden Stakes As Garden Gifts

Suppose you or someone you know has finished a backyard vegetable garden. And now, you decide that a gardening gift is a fitting reward for all of the hard work that was devoted to complete the vegetable garden project.

Most gardening gifts are small inexpensive items like gloves, shovels, spading fork, hoe, compost, and soil testers just to name a few. Instead of giving a tool as a gift, why not consider a garden decor item like unique handmade redwood vegetable garden stakes.

Vegetable garden stakes make the perfect garden accessory as well as garden decor gift that any backyard vegetable gardener will truly appreciate. Moreover, they make great gardening collectibles.

There is nothing more appealing than gardening at a cultured vegetable garden where all the vegetables are identified with redwood stakes. It is not only eye-catching; it is sure to be a big hit. Keep in mind, the more unique and stunning the garden stakes are, the more they will be appreciated. Although metal garden stakes are somewhat popular, there is nothing more striking than a garden marked off with handmade redwood vegetable garden stakes.

The redwood stakes should be made from two pieces, a redwood block and a REPLACEABLE round 1/4-inch birch wood dowel (used for the stick).

The block is made from high quality finished redwood and it is sanded to a smooth finish. The redwood block measures: 1-3 / 8-inches wide x 4-inches long x 3/8-inches thick.

A colorful image of the vegetable along with the vegetable name is transferred to the redwood block. The block is then treated with several layers of varnish to protect it from the sun and weather. For example, the block for the carrot garden stake has a beautiful image of a bunch of carrots, along with the vegetable name of CARROTS.

The replaceable 1/4-inch round wood dowels are available at most home hardware centers and they usually come in lengths of three and four feet. This allows you to cut the dowels to the exact length that you want. The most popular lengths for the dowel-stakes are between twelve and eighteen inches.

You can use a hand-held pencil sharpener to slightly bevel the ends of the 1/4-inch dowel. The beveled ends make it much easier to insert the dowel into the redwood block and your garden.

So, when you are looking to give a garden gift that will be treasured for years to come, consider giving a unique handmade redwood vegetable garden stakes. These stakes are not only attractive, they will give the recipient many years of enjoyment when they gaze out over their garden.

8 Secrets of Improving Physical Fitness at Home

Improving physical fitness at home is an excellent idea that can be achieved through exercise only. Regular exercise can extend your life expectancy to a certain degree and keep you fit and evergreen throughout your life.

Improving fitness is not that hard if you maintain a healthy lifestyle. A disciplined lifestyle can throw away most diseases and ailments. It improves your endurance and boost energy level. No matter how physically fit you are, you can start to follow a disciplined life. Depending on your ability start exercising on a regular basis. But to do so, you must have to fix your goal. Here I unveiled eight secrets to be looked smart and fit.

Inspiration and Motivation Can Change You

Most of us feel lethargic throughout the day, especially when asked to do some hard work this is because of lack of physical activity and motivation that slow down our metabolic rate. Have you noticed that sportsmen look so smart and energetic than average people? I suggest you to select an iconic power sport personal and admire his or her talent. The concept of staying fit and fine doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to regularly visit the gym. Practically there are hundreds of ways to stay evergreen like a sport man.

Walk Like an Ostrich

Twenty first century surprised us offering big tummy and polished hairless head. No matter how huge you are, wake up in the morning and start walking as far as you can. Do not forget to use a pedometer that can count your steps and can say the distance you covered. Please do not move like a tortoise chatting with your friends. Walk as fast as possible until you feel a big drop of sweat hanging on the edge of your nose. But if you already developed any sort of cardiac disease, do not walk too fast, maintain a moderate speed.

You Are a Great Runner!

Experience your athletic endurance. Running regularly for at least two kilometers is good for the heart. It’s a great cardio exercise that increases our heart rate to an extreme level and burn out more fats than any other form of exercise. If you don’t have any cardiac problem you are free to run, but if you are suffering from cardiac disease like hypertension, then avoid running to stay fit, because there are many other ways I will tell you latter through which you can have the similar effect without putting extra stress on the heart.

Tales of Gym Addicts

Mentally you may be fitter than a gym goer, but in reality you never felt that. Doing intensive cardio exercise at the gym may help you to get a tummy-less trimmed physique. The good news for you that you can perform cardio exercises at home also, in that case you can use a gym cycle and treadmill. I recommend you to drink some engineered energy drink that can improve your performance for a long period of time. After practicing vigorously (if you don’t have cardiovascular disease) fold your treadmill and keep it aside. Cardiac patients should not run on the treadmill without doctor’s advice.

Yoga Can Stretch Your Mind

This is probably the easiest way to stay fit at home because most of us have almost no time to spend over wellness of mind and body at a health club or on the field. Physical fitness doesn’t necessarily mean huge biceps and eight pack abdomen muscle. Today’s biggest problem is indigestion, acidity and light headedness. Yoga is very helpful to regain your lost energy. This is a powerful method to improve concentration and physical ability and vigor. Yoga can cure most diseases and gives you an evergreen look. But practicing yoga at home may be sometimes difficult, but not impossible though. As a beginner, you can take a lesson from a yoga guru. The power of yoga can essentially boost your sex drive and keep you looking younger than average people.

Quit Smoking

Treadmill Deck Info: Treadmill Decks Materials and Warranty

Treadmill deck is the material that forms the hard surface on which you run. In other words it’s the supportive surface. This article distinguishes the decking from the tread belt which is the belt that moves across the decking.

Important

Treadmill manufacturers don’t provide a great deal of information about the actual construction materials of their decks. These days most treadmills, especially if priced above $1,000 are constructed with decently strong tread decks (usually medium density fibreboard with a duo phenolic coating – all discussed in detail below).

However, strength isn’t the be all and end all. If strength were most important, more treadmill manufacturers would use metal. Metal is used, but not extensively.

What are decking construction objectives?

Like I said above, if strength was the only objective, metal or steel decks would rule the day. But strength isn’t the only objective. Quality decking should:

  • Be strong
  • Be durable
  • Have some elasticity (i.e. slightly flexible, but not bouncy)
  • Minimize noise (i.e. muffle noise if possible)
  • Have a smooth surface to minimize tread belt friction

What materials are used?

Often you’ll see reference to solid wood, medium density fibreboard (MDF), and metal as materials used for treadmill decks. For coating you’ll usually read about phenolic coating. The article explains these different materials.

Materials

1. Medium density fibreboard (MDF)

MDF is created by breaking down wood into fibres (sawdust) and then forming the fibres into a solid treadmill deck with wax and resin. The usual thickness is 3/4″ to 1″. You can read more about MDF here.

MDF is the predominant material used for treadmill decks.

2. Solid wood

The deck is made out of 3/4″ to 1″ solid wood. The trouble with solid wood is it’s hard to find a piece of wood that is perfect. MDF, although not perfect either, ensures a consistency that’s hard to find with solid wood.

Particle board: Particle board is no the same as MDF. Particle board is not fibre-based. It’s a solid wood composite product. The result is that particle board is much weaker than MDF. MDF is denser and stronger.

Avoid treadmills with decks using particle board. You’ll be lucky to get a year out of it.

3. Metal

Metal decks are not nearly as prevalent as solid wood or MDF decks. It’s heavier and doesn’t create as “soft” of a surface as wood or MDF. Running on metal or steel simply isn’t as enjoyable as on solid wood or MDF.

What material do I recommend?

MDF deck that is duo or triple coated with phenolic resin coating.

The coating

Some treadmills are coated on both sides (duo-coating, sometimes also referred to as triple-coating), while lower-quality treadmills coat only 1 side of a treadmill deck. The better deck is coated on both sides which helps reduce warping. It’s also better for reducing friction with the tread deck along the entire surface area on which the tread belt moves.

Best material used for coating:

Phenolic: This is the best coating material. You’ll pay more for phenolic coating, but it’s worth it.

What is phenolic resin coating?

Phenolic resin coating is a plastic resin. When a treadmill deck is coated with phenolic resin, wax the wood deck is unnecessary.

Can you build your own if your original deck breaks?

Yes, but it’s not advisable unless you really know what you’re doing. Simply slamming in a sheet of plywood or MDF isn’t going to do it. There’s properly coating the deck and ensuring it securely attaches to the treadmill.

The last thing you want is your deck to break apart when running or walking.

This is why having a lifetime warranty on your treadmill deck is important. Decks often break or crack (especially with lower-priced treadmills).

Decking Considerations

Replacement frequency

The range in the number of hours of use treadmill decks are good for is astounding. Some lower-end treadmill decks are designed for 500 hours, while other warranty their decks for life. Naturally the intensity of use and weight of users will impact the duration of a treadmill deck.

Is it reversible?

Some treadmill manufacturers make reversible tread decks so that you can get more mileage out of them.

Is reversible good?

It depends. Some manufacturers make treadmill decks that are warrantied for a lifetime without having to reverse them. Others don’t come with a lifetime warranty and can’t be reversed. These may have the shortest lifespan. Then there are treadmills with reversible decks which in theory doubles the lifespan of the treadmill deck.

The warranty

Ideally, the treadmill you buy will have a lifetime warranty on the deck. This is indicative the manufacturer stands behind the deck and in the event the deck fails, you get a replacement.

Cushioning technology

Cushioning technology is pretty cool these days. Treadmill cushioning technology includes the amount of, type of, and quality of the treadmill cushioning.

Breastfeeding and Mom’s Diet

Nutrition is the utmost priority in maintaining a good lifestyle. Your breast milk contains lots of nutrients that your child needs. What the mother takes in, the child takes in as well. Thus, breastfeeding and mom’s diet should not be taken for granted.

It is well known that breastfeeding is good from birth up to six months and may even be better for some who breast feed up to three years old or seven years old.

Your diet and the diet that was prescribed to you while you were still pregnant should be the same diet that you must follow.

As breast milk is composed of nutrients that are essential for baby’s growth, mothers should always keep in mind that taking in medications must be supervised by a health care provider as some of these medications may be teratogenic. Teratogenic medications can harm your baby’s health since these are being passed from your breast milk to your baby during feedings. It is known to disrupt your baby’s normal physical and psychological developments.

It is not advisable to take in alcohol as this too can be affect your baby. Take note of the flavors of the food you eat. Alcohol and strong-flavored foods can alter the taste of normal breast milk to something else. Aside from making your baby dislike your milk, it can also do harm to your baby’s body.

You should always take in iron supplements and eat nutritious foods like whole grains and cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables. Also include foods that provide plenty of protein, calcium, and iron since they are proven to be beneficial to you as well as your child. Such food groups can also help boost your immune system as your body’s needs would also be sufficed.

Taking in iodine rich foods can decrease the risk of your baby certain diseases and low intelligence. Sea foods like shrimps, crabs, lobsters and the likes are good sources of iodine.

The above mentioned information will make breastfeeding and mom’s diet [http://breastfeeding-problems-solution.blogspot.com/2007/09/breastfeeding-facts-and-tips.html] complement each other well.

Basic Kitchen Lighting Guidelines

Kitchens are constantly evolving at an unbelievable pace. Modern day kitchens have turned dramatically from a room wherein we prepare our meals to the core of modern family activities.

With the multitude of activities going on in our kitchens, we do need the right lighting for performing each and every task, right? The right lighting may help provide us comfort, ease and aids in highlighting designer pieces or other interesting focal points.

But do you know what kind of lighting you need? Not all lights are created equal! There are just about as many types of lighting required for every area around our kitchen to help us perform our tasks better.

We carry out many different activities in our counters, sinks and stove area. This is the area we use to prepare the ingredients for our sumptuous dinner, wash the dishes and cook our food. Sadly, however, these areas are also the ones which are generally in shadows. So that you can choose the most appropriate lighting for every nook in your kitchen, here are some basic tips which may help you.

. Task lighting may be needed to be installed in the counter, sink and stove areas to facilitate ease and comfort of doing our tasks. Lighting fixtures should preferably be fitted under the cabinets. The light source should be enclosed close to the front part of the cabinets and should up to two thirds of the length of the counter. This should give us ample light.

. If there are no cabinets directly above the counter, pendant fixtures can be considered as the best way to go. A general recommendation is to provide a 60 to 75 watt bulb for every 20 inches of counter space. That will provide you with enough illumination for the task at hand!

. You may also want to consider installing recessed or surface mounted lights. These are ideally placed 16 to 24 inches apart. Just remember that there should be a constant flow of air around the fixture enclosure to prevent overheating.

. To illuminate the stove area, you can use a 60 watt bulb for the built-in hood light. If the stove has no hood, you can opt to install a recessed or surface mounted lighting unit over the center of the stove (approximately 15 to 18 inches apart). Either of these options will provide you sufficient lighting for your cooking needs!

. For the sink area, a pendant lighting centered at about 30 inches above the area can provide the correct lighting requirements.

Let's go a step ahead of the basics. To add character to our kitchens, here are some ideas which may stir the creative artist in you!

. If you have it, flaunt it! Arrange fine china and other eye-catching display items or unique collections in glass-fronted shelves. Highlight these by backing the cabinets in an outer window to use the natural light of the sun in highlighting the items or by directing surface mounted halogen lights towards them. Voila! Drama is played wonderfully in your kitchen area!

. Add focal interest to your eating area. Consider hanging pendant lights on the ceiling above a breakfast nook or dining table.

. Down light, anyone? If you use the dining table for other purposes such as getting paper works done, having bills organized or as a study area for the kids, you may want to consider installing a down light. It can certainly cater to these varied needs!

. Mix and match it! If you use the kitchen as a family gathering place, a place to entertain guests or for such other purposes, you can elect to mix different kinds of lighting fixtures. Standing lamps and table lamps may be great to provide ample lighting for sitting and reading areas around the kitchen.

Trailer Awnings

Trailer awnings are usually stand alone type lightweight aluminum alloy units, with fabric or canvas roof. The awning may either be fixed or retractable type. Properly designed mobile home awnings will stay taut and strong in all weather conditions. Supporting ribs provide extra strength to the structure and prevent the roof and sides from collecting water and sagging.

A trailer is a small motorized van, in which people can live and travel simultaneously. In the US, travel trailers have had a long and diverse history that can be traced as far back as the 1920s. Those early trailers were little better than tin cans and were called exactly that. Trailers later became more comfortable and were called? House Trailers ?. During the 1950s and 1960s, the industry evolved into two separate industries, rarely recreational vehicle industry and the mobile home industry.

Smaller sized trailers generally are less than 18? long and contain only basic amenities. By design, they are lightweight, weighing less than 3000 lbs and are easy to set up for camping or to prepare for travel. Due to their compact design and light weight, they are usually towed with a large car. Mid-range travel trails are spacious and contain more amenities. They are 18? to 25? long, can weigh in excess of 5000 lbs, and generally have to be towed with a powerful pick up truck or an SUV. Large sized travel trailers are designed for the seasonal or full-time user. These are between 25? and 40? long and contain all the comforts of a luxury condominium such as multiple TVs, washing machine, a dishwasher, refrigerators and air conditioners as well as an in house power generator.

When mobile home awnings act as canopies, they provide shade to a small porch, patio, or deck to enable people to enjoy the outdoors without the fear of sun burns. Some awnings even come with wiring fixed into the skeleton, so the travelers can connect the power supply and stay outside at night. Small and medium trailer owners may choose manually retractable mobile home awnings, while large trailer owners may find the deluxe motorized versions more suitable.
