Slow Cooker Tips – Hints to Better Crockpot Recipes

The crockpot – or slow cooker – is the perfect cooking appliance for a new cook. This handy kitchen appliance is a staple in many American kitchens. Cooking is easy with a crockpot; simply add all the ingredients and turn it on. Let the slow cooker do the rest! It is quite difficult to mess up a crockpot recipe, but here is a few tips to make your slow cooker experience flawless.

First off, make sure you buy a crockpot that has a removable crock, or liner. The crockpots that have the built in liners are very difficult to clean and you will find slow cooking much more enjoyable with an appliance that is easy to care for. There are many inexpensive models of crockpots available now. Try to buy a crockpot that holds what you feel will be little too much food. While this sounds silly now, in the long run you will have a slow cooker that will suit all your needs – and all your unexpected needs.

When preparing your favorite crockpot recipe, try to not over-fill the pot. While some say to keep the crock no more than half-way full, we have found it fine to keep it no more than two-thirds full. This will promote more even cooking and will also help avoid any excess mess when stirring or in the case of bubble-overs.

Many crockpot recipes call for some sort of meat. Some of the best pot roasts and chicken dishes I've had come from a crockpot! Just remember when slow cooking meat to trim off extra fat. For best results, trim as much of the extra fat off the pieces of meat prior to cooking. Due to the prolonged cooking in a slow cooker, that excess fat can really get cooked in giving your dish an odd taste. Also, healthy crockpot recipes mean less fat, anyway, so trim that fat!

It is tempting to open the lid of your crockpot through out the cooking process, but try to resist it. Each time you open the lid of that slow cooker, heat escapes, and the cooker will take longer to finish your meal. Crockpots cook fairly evenly. The ingredients at the bottom will cook faster than those on top, but it is not necessary to stir as often as you would a stove-top recipe. Keep that lid on except when it is absolutely necessary to stir your recipe.

As for cooking time as directed by recipes – keep in mind that one hour on high in a crockpot is equal to about 2 hours on low. If your slow cooker recipe calls for a four-hour cook time on high, but you want to eat in eight hours, cook your dish on low.

With these few basic tips, crockpot cooking will be a breeze. You will be a slow cooker master in no time!

How to Formulate a Realistic Plan to Work From Home

As rising gas prices loom on the horizon, working from home is becoming a popular alternative to commuting. The advent of the uber-convenient World Wide Web makes it possible to run a global business right from your living room. But remember that working from home also means living at work! Here are some tips for successfully joining the two.

Start by calculating your projected weekly income. Many work-from-home jobs are not paid by the hour – they're paid by volume of production. This makes budgeting tricky. A little simple math will help you come up with a time / money ratio you can use.

There are two ways to figure this out:

1) time your production to calculate your hourly wage, then multiply that by the number of hours you work per week, or
2) multiply your profit per piece by how many pieces you produce in a week. Compare this figure with your weekly or monthly expenses so you'll have a baseline of what you need to accomplish on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Be honest with yourself about what you can / will produce, and plan for a healthy balance of work and rest. Sure you could work 16 hours a day, but how would that affect your health and personal life? On the other hand, if you are frequently distracted, you may find it difficult to maintain your income goals. Organization and time management skills are key.

Be sure your home can provide for the demands of your business. Many work-at-home positions require a high-speed Internet connection, and a separate phone line with fax and voicemail service may also be desirable, especially if one does business in other time zones. Note that your home workspace must be dedicated exclusively to your business in order to claim it as a tax deduction.

Anticipate how bringing your work into your home will affect your family, neighbors, and clientele. Does it generate noise, odor, waste, traffic? Familiarize yourself with local zoning laws and noise ordinances, as well as any applicable terms of your lease if you rent. And be sure to check with your home owner's or renter's insurance carrier to be sure that your assets are covered!

Are you tech-savvy? You do not have to be an MIT grad – you can hire folks to do the hard stuff for you – but a working knowledge will save you a lot, in more ways than one: headaches, time, and money. If you will be working with any kind of sensitive information, it's crucial to keep it secure, for your clients' well-being as well as your own.

The key to success in working from home is taking responsibility for yourself. You must be able to come up with a plan and stick to it. Be accountable to yourself and you'll be great at being your own boss!

Does Circumcision Decrease the Fertility of Sperm in the Male?

Is it possible that circumcision (removal of the foreskin) can cause a decrease in a man’s fertility over a man who has never been circumcised, all other factors being the same? Especially when one’s sperm comes from the testicles and not the penis. Is some degree of infertility connected to circumcision?

The research on circumcision on sperm quality and quantity has been under debate for some time. It appears that the medical community that profits from circumcision feels it won’t affect male fertility. Some in the medical community, researchers, and everyday people believe that it does. It appears that the verdict is split.

However, birth rates are much higher in countries where the men are predominantly uncircumcised. How is it possible that circumcision could affect fertility in the male?

The testicles hang outside of the body because sperm are very temperature sensitive. They have to be cooler than normal body temperature to survive. It is known that men have a higher quantity and quality of sperm in the colder months than in the warmer months. So men are most potent in the colder months. It is believed that in the hotter months, the sperm are damaged due to hot temperatures building up in a man’s underwear and, basically, cooking some of the sperm. This is why boxers are preferred over conventional underwear for sperm health. With tight underwear, the testicles are forced closer to the body. This damages the sperm from the elevated temperature of being up against the body.

So we understand that sperm are very temperature sensitive.

Now here’s where it gets interesting:

Circumcised men have a significantly higher resting temperature of their penises then men who are uncircumcised. Men who are uncircumcised have cooler penises than men who are circumcised. When either group becomes aroused, their penis temperatures rise to the same temperature.

There is no question that an uncircumcised man has a cooler penis than a circumcised man in the flaccid state. For some reason, removal of the foreskin is the reason for this. There seems to be some sort of temperature sensor in the foreskin that may control penile temperature. Removing the foreskin gets rid of this sensor.

It only takes a few temperature degrees of difference to damage sperm. As the penis is in close proximity to the testicles, it’s quite likely that a cooler penis would help keep the testicles cooler (Remember that men are more potent in the colder months of the year). Under these condition, if the testicles got too cold, they can always be retracted closer to the body.

But if the circumcised man has such a (relative) hot penis, what happens when this hot penis is bunched up in your underwear against your testicles? That’s correct… It will make the testicles hotter. So when the cremasteric muscles relax to allow the testicles to drop down as far as possible to get away from this heat… What happens? It doesn’t make any difference, as they are resting next to this “hot” penis.

Remember, it only takes a few degrees in temperature change to damage sperm.

The foreskin has many functions and this is one of them. Mother Nature gifted man with a foreskin for numerous reasons. One of those reasons keeps the penis cooler, there is no denying that. Could foreskin removal affect a man’s fertility? It certain seems feasible.

Now consider this: Circumcised and uncircumcised men have the same penis temperature on full erection, as we stated earlier in this article. So, clearly, there is a specific reason why a natural-uncircumcised penis remains at a cooler temperature during the flaccid state. When the penis is erect it is no longer in close proximity with the testicles, so penile temperature should not affect the testicular temperature at this phase (be the penis circumcised or uncircumcised).

Upon orgasm, the penis tends to retract more into the pelvis (at least with my experience). Due to the friction and increased blood flow that occurred during the sexual act, it makes sense that the penis will have an increase in temperature in a flaccid state post-sex than in a flaccid state previous to the sexual act. Could this retraction be another mechanism for the “heated” penis to steer clear of the testicles?

Perhaps one day we will have the knowledge to know how the foreskin is related to penile temperature.

Semen Volume Pills

The fact is that every man wants to perform like a porn star. The truth is that those film stars use products to help them achieve that. One of the most common products used is a semen volume enhancer. There are a couple of different products available, but the most popular one right now is simply called Volume Pills.

Volume Pills can have a dramatic effect on the amount of semen that you ejaculate at climax. Men tend to associate the amount of semen ejected with their manhood. The more sperm he releases, the better he feels about himself sexually. Hence, the use of semen volume enhancers is becoming commonplace.

How Volume Pills work

Volume Pills contain a proven herbal mixture. These same natural materials have been used for centuries to produce heightened desire, more stamina and larger ejaculations. Because the ingredients are herbal, Volume Pills are completely safe and work in a number of areas to provide the user with satisfying results including:

1)Increased blood flow for harder, longer lasting erections.

2)Increased sex drive and libido.

3)Confidence that stems from satisfying sexual encounters for your partner or partners.

4)An increase in the volume, or amount, of semen that you produce. This results in longer, more satisfying climaxes for you and your partner.

Volume Pills are now medically endorsed by notable physicians around the world. This makes Volume Pills the most widely accepted semen volume enhancer available today. These doctors say that their patients report better performance and enhanced self image as a result of using Volume Pills.

Not only is the psychological aspect positive, but the ingredients used have been individually used for centuries to produce heightened desire, stamina and larger ejaculations. This product even minimizes the occurrences of premature ejaculation.

How fast will you see results

Each person will have different results. Some will see more results, some will see a little less. The truth, though, is that you will have results. You may see some effects immediately as your body gets accustomed to the formula. Noticeable effects can be seen in as little as 10 days to 2 weeks. Some men have reported faster results. For the maximum effect to be achieved, the recommended use is 90 to 120 days.

Why should I try to increase my semen volume?

For centuries, men have equated their manliness to the amount of ejaculate they produce. While this can build self confidence in men, women want a man who is “potent”, especially if they are trying to start a family. The larger the amount of your ejaculate, the better chance of producing a child quicker.

For these reasons, men and women have a desire for larger volumes of sperm to be produced and ejected at male climax. You’ll feel better about yourself and your partner will have more desire for you sexually.

All these are valid reasons to try Volume Pills. Do it for yourself. Do it for your mate. Do it for increased confidence and manliness.

Mainly, try Volume Pills to see yourself in a better light.

Rare PEZ Dispensers – Is Yours Worth Anything?

Did you know that there are actually rare PEZ dispensers that are worth a lot of money? There are hundreds of PEZ dispensers that have been produced, including ones for popular cartoons and even movies. Take into account the vast number of PEZ candy dispensers out there, with the different variations of each one, and you can easily see how finding out which ones are valuable may be a tough task. If you want to know if your PEZ dispenser is worth anything, here are a few tips to help you figure it out. Of course, you could also use these tips to find rare PEZ dispensers worth investing in. Lots of people are actually avid collectors!

1. Does it have feet? One of the ways you can tell if you have one of the rare PEZ dispensers is to look and see if there are “feet”. At the bottom of your dispenser, is there a part that helps it stand up right? If not, it was probably made before 1987. Rare dispensers that are older like that are worth more.

2. How it is packaged (if at all) will also play a role in how valuable it is. MOMC stands for Mint on Mint Card. This is the most valuable, as it has the card and has not been scratched, bent or damaged in any way. Next valuable is MOC, which stands for Mint on Card. This means it’s on cardboard and is covered with a plastic blister. After that is MIB, which means Mint in Bag. MIB means your PEZ

dispenser is in a cellophane bag. The least valuable is a one that is not packaged at all.

3. The older ones are usually more valuable. Check the patent number on your PEZ dispenser. There will be a lot of numbers, but just go by the first two. For example 2,604,331 would be shortened to just 2.6 There are five different “groups” it could fall in:

• 2.6 – If it falls in this group, then it is from 1952

• 3.4 – If it falls in this group, then it is from 1968

• 3.9 – If it falls in this group, then it is from 1976

• 4.9 – If it falls in this group, then it is from 1990

Of course, if you’re serious about finding the most valuable ones you could invest in a price guide. They are very helpful, because it can be a challenge to figure out if your dispenser is worth a lot of money. There are different variations of dispensers. For instance, a Batman dispenser could sell for over $175… but not just any Batman one. It has to be the right one. The one that sells for that has a gray base and a soft head. It is also one of those ones with no feet like we talked about earlier. So if your Batman PEZ dispenser has feet, a black base and head and is MOC – you’re actually only going to get a few bucks for it. PEZ dispenser price guides will be able to help you identify each one’s worth much easier.

The Bavaria Cruiser 55 Experience

When I first saw her in Biograd, Croatia at the charter base I was very impressed. She is massive and definitely draws a lot of attention. The first thing that you recognize really is the bathing platform, which you can easily host a couple of people for sun-downers (we did that and its awesome). I am 6 ft tall and standing on that platform just allowed me to peek in the cockpit. A couple of steps lead up into the cockpit. I can’t compare the size of this cockpit to anything I have seen so far. Its huge, a single huge entertainment area. Helming area and social area are separated, but I never had the feeling to be just at the helm. This separation helps a lot when single-handing though. You can handle the lines and everything, while your guests can hang out and enjoy whatever they want to enjoy in the other section of the cockpit. At any time you are part of the group… which is kind of nice. There are a lot of nice features on deck and all around the cockpit. I don’t want to point them all out, but some of the stuff they came up with is really useful.

A lot has been written about this boat, so please go to the respective sites. One thing though drove me crazy. The position of the engine controls. Neatly hidden below a “flap”. Pretty cool when you don’t need them, but in order to use them you have to open that thing up and as soon as you are berthing the boat, its nearly impossible to handle the landlines from the starboard quarter. I saw another 55 in a marina, which had that solved with a foldable cover.

If the 55 caught your interest already you might have noticed that her deck-space is incredible. Single-handed berthing (stern-to) is quite a challenge… not because it can’t be done, but purely to the fact that it takes a while going from bow to stern and the other way around. Well, you get used to it. I have done it a couple of times now and its absolutely do-able. Even though she is really big, you can handle her pretty good in close quarters. She is responsive like a small 36 ft Jeanneau (or equivalent). Pretty amazing.

Sailing: We had a standard roller mainsail (horrible) and a 110% headsail. That’s it. Understandable for a charter boat. To cut a long story short: She sails like a dream. You can point her high, she is not healing too much (but can be done:-)) and you can helm her with the famous one finger. In 15 knots of wind with the mainsail eased (guests on board) she did an amazing 9 knots and sometimes more. Trimmed as best as I could trim her – again in 15- 16 knots of wind – the display showed 10,3 SOG. The only thing I don’t like about modern production boats are their close-hauled qualities. Perfect without waves. However, one day after a night passage we had to point her very high in the wind in order to reach a headland and we had 20 knots of wind with rather steep and short waves (maybe 6 ft high). Not the best experience. She slammed-down into every other wave, which caused her to drop her speed significantly. Basically 7 knots in almost perfect wind conditions and after the slamming the display showed 3 or less. Not to speak from the noise the slamming caused. Anyways, this would be a wet and uncomfortable ride on any other boat as well.

Now here comes what I didn’t like: Below deck. Nicely appointed, lots of space, great cooking and the usual Bavaria-style crap in one or the other place. What is it with them not being able to put proper door handles on a boat. Every second day I had to pull out the allen wrench. The hatches and everything else you can possibly open feels like plastic and not very solid. Water proof – nope. We did not have bad weather, but I could see some moisture coming in there. Half of the fittings to leave a hatch open were broken. And it goes on and on. The worst thing though? Its a dark boat. No light comes through. The other thing. No ventilation. The only two hatches which would open bow-facing are those in the two bow cabins. All other hatches (apart from being too small) are opening up sideways.?!?!? How would you survive 35 degrees Celsius (and 25 during the night) without a little breeze going through the salon? Now the absolutely worst thing. Size of the berths. Our 55 had 4 doubles and a two bunk beds in one cabin, which we used as storage room for bags and the like. The aft cabins for this size of a boat are way to small. I didn’t measure but the usable space to use must have been less than 1,20 meters. It must have been less because at home my bed has 1,40 meters. Here is my question to Bavaria and BMW design group (or however the call themselves): How can you design a 55 ft sailing boat with 4 double cabins which barley can sleep two people? This still drives me crazy today and I wonder if one of their designers ever set one foot on that boat?

Here is a solution to the problem. Get rid of the dinghy garage, make the aft cabins bigger and only sell the boat as owner version with the huge owners area in the bows. This boat has such a huge deckspace, I wouldn’t need a garage for my dinghy. It can be easily stored on deck. And with two huge aft cabins, the bunk cabin and big owners area (bow) this makes a really good boat. Well… and a couple of bigger hatches to have more light in the boat.

Here you have it. My first review of a boat. Not really professionally written, but very honest and based on a three weeks cruising experience…. at anchor, in marinas, on night trips and from calm to 25 knots of wind. Please don’t take this as a reference or official test of the 55… its only my humble opinion.

Modern Day Housewife

The older I get, the more I look up to my mother. How did she do it? She had a husband, two daughters, and two jobs. She kept our house clean, made sure we had three meals a day, kept her weight down, and was a manager at one of her jobs. And, throughout my childhood, I never noticed if she was stressed. Now me, on the other hand, sometimes between my two sons and housework and running my online business I feel as if I’m drowning with no life preserver in site. (Can’t somebody please throw me a rope?!) But I keep treading water, wondering if it’ll ever get any easier. (What am I doing wrong here?)

Women these days are expected to do everything. There once was a time when men went to work and women stayed home and maintained the home and children, every now and then throwing dinner parties and playing the perfect hostess to guests. Now, we are expected to have a job and do all I just mentioned. How is this possible? Are there even enough hours in the day? When do we sleep? And unless we have spent our whole childhood preparing to be a mother and a wife, (I wanted to be a rock singer. I had all the moves down pat by age nine.) How do we not lose ourselves in the process?

I believe the secret is to slow down. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect (even if you believe your mother did it that way). Don’t stress over the little things. I mean, what would really happen if you can’t cook the perfect turkey for Thanksgiving? Would all of your friends and family leave? Will your husband hate you? If they do, let them walk. You’d rather order take-out from that nice little French restaurant downtown. (Who really likes turkey?) And, if he hates you? You don’t need that a-hole anyway. You deserve better than that… But, most likely, they will stay because they’re your friends and they adore you. And, he will love you anyway. There’s a reason you married him in the first place. So, stop trying to be perfect.

And, we can’t forget to spend some time doing the things we love. For some of you, it may be baking cupcakes for all of your child’s classmates. For me, it’s a good book, bubble bath, and a glass of wine. We can’t forget to treat ourselves right. Remember? We used to be people, before we became wives and mothers.

I say these things jokingly, to get my point across that we should not forget ourselves in the daily scheme of things. Those pair of earrings that he didn’t buy, even after all the hints you sent all of December? Buy them for yourself. You deserve it. (And sometimes, men are just oblivious. God love ’em.)

And, I think one of the best things to remember, while your are trying to figure out this whole “family” thing, is to not forget your girlfriends. We women on this earth have a special bond. No one else truly understands us, better than another woman. We are not the enemy. We are forever sisters, humans. Lean on each other. When we learn to truly love ourselves, we will be able to truly love the others in our lives. Good luck, and many blessings to all of you.

Molescum – Molluscum Contagiosum

Molescum – also known as Molluscum Contagiosum, or simply Mollescum – is a viral infection of the skin. Molescum is actually pretty much harmless but poses a significant inconvenience for anybody who becomes infected with the virus. Molluscum Contagiosum in children is where it is most commonly seen. However, adults can and do become infected. Persons with compromised immune systems are most likely to be easily infected. Even healthy persons, however, are vulnerable to molescum because it is such a highly contagious virus.

Molescum spreads easily through skin to skin contact, contact with infected materials such as towels and clothing and often through sexual contact. The actual condition Molescum causes is a patch of Molluscum Contagiosum warts that are nothing more than pimples to the eye. They don’t hurt or itch but they can take very long to go away. In fact, Molescum resolves itself naturally in a healthy human but the amount of time it takes (up to a year!) causes many people to seek treatment.

Molluscum contagiosum treatment usually involves topical creams, surgical extraction of the molluscum lesions and even something as far-out as using the juice from a particular type of beetle to dissipate the warts. Surgical removal is generally quick and easy and if done well, leaves no scarring. This is a fantastic option because while creams can work in time, molescum spreads very easily to healthy skin on the same person. Molescum spreads especially well on wet skin. The main reason to get rid of Molescum is to prevent spreading it to others and also for cosmetic reasons. The molluscum warts are rather unsightly, particularly if they occur around or on the face or genitals.

Another treatment option for molescum sufferers is to have their molluscum warts frozen off. This process is only slightly painful and sees decent results. Children, in particular, should be treated as soon as a molescum diagnosis is confirmed because of their gregarious nature. Spreading mollescum to others is almost guaranteed among kids! For individual molluscum warts, you can remove them yourself at home. All you need to do is sterilize a needle and pierce the skin on top of the pimple.

Then you will need to widen the opening and squeeze out the little white ball. The white ball is actually the virus, which is hidden in this ball in such an ingenious way, that it takes the human immune system such a long time to indentify and combat it. Once you’ve removed the virus ball, apply antiseptic to the small wound and allow it to heal. Voila!

For more involved cases of molescum consulting with a dermatologist is wise.

The Difference Between a Casio Baby-G and a Casio G Shock Watch

Are you looking for the perfect watch that can stand up to your tough lifestyle? There are two that come to mind: the Casio Baby-G and the Casio G shock. These two watches are remarkably similar. They are both tough and durable. They can withstand large falls and impacts that other watches would crumble under. They can both be used in water, and they both have sleek designs that set them apart from other watches.

Their similarities make sense, though. After all, the Baby-G is just a smaller version of the G shock. Despite their similarities, however, there are a few unique differences you should consider before you decide to make a purchase.

Analyzing the Differences

  • Men vs. Women – One of the biggest differences between these two watches is that the G shock is made for men, and the Baby-G is made for women. The sizes of the straps and the watch’s face are different because of this. The Baby-G’s face is generally about the same in length, but it is usually not as deep as the men’s version of the watch.
  • Water Resistance – A G shock watch is generally (although not always) water resistant for up to 200 meters. While some Baby-G’s are as well, many are only resistant for up to 100 meters. Unless your favourite activity is snorkelling or deep sea diving, however, this should not be a problem.
  • Colour – The men’s version of this watch generally comes in very few colours, like black, red, silver, gray, and white. The women’s version, however, is much more colourful. You can find these watches in red, pink, green, white, purple, black, blue, and silver. This allows women to pick and choose different and vibrant colours to match any outfit they put on.

What do These Watches Have in Common?

Aside from their sleek look and unmatchable durability, these two watch styles have several features in common, including:

  • Temperature resistance – Some of the watches can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
  • Electro-luminescent backlight – The backlight on these two types of watches allows you to enjoy them anytime- no matter what time of day it is.
  • Auto-Calendar – These Casio watches are programmed so you will not only know the time, but the date as well. While the number of years the auto-calendar is programmed until will vary, depending on the exact version you purchase, some are programmed all the way until 2099.
  • Long Battery Life – The Casio G shock and Baby-G both come with long-lasting batteries. You can use these watches for up to two years before you need to replace them.
  • Stopwatch – Are you in training or simply trying to lose weight? These watches can help with one hour countdown timers, complete with an auto-repeat option, and a one hour stopwatch.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you are going to enjoy all of the unique features available to you from Casio’s line of G shock watches. If you are a woman, you can enjoy the traditional G shock gives a masculine flair and has all the bells and whistles you need, and if you are a woman, you can enjoy all the same great features, but with a more feminine and colourful accessory.

Categories of Ethical Dilemmas in Business

First published in Exchange, the magazine of the Brigham Young University School of Business, the following twelve categories were developed to cover the root or cause of most ethical business dilemmas that one might encounter in their jobs. I have summarized them to keep them short and simple.

1. Taking Things That Don’t Belong To You

Everything from taking highlighters from the storage room, to sending personal mail through the mailroom, to downloading unauthorized games to play on your work computer fall into this category. A CFO of a major corporation took a cab from the airport to his home in the city. When he asked the cabbie for receipt, he was handed a full book of blank receipts. Apparently this dilemma of accurately reporting business expenses involves more than just one employee.

2. Saying Things That You Know Are Not True

When a car salesperson insists to a customer that a used car has not been in a previous accident, when it has, an ethical breach has occurred. When a clerk in a store assures a customer that a product has a money-back guarantee, when only trade-ins are allowed, another ethical violation occurred (and perhaps a violation of the law).

3. Giving Or Allowing False Impressions

There is an urban legend in which 2 CD’s were being sold on a TV infomercial that claimed that that all the hits of the 1980’s were on the CDs. The infomercial emphasized over and over again that all songs were performed by the original artists. When they received the CDs, upon closer inspection, they found that all songs had been covered by a band called The Original Artists. While technically true, the impression given by the infomercial was false.

4. Buying Influence or Engaging in Conflict of Interest

When a company awards a construction contract to an organization owned by the brother of the attorney general, or when a county committee who is charged with choosing a new road construction company is traveling around the state looking at roads at the expense of one of the bidders, a conflict of interest arises which might affect the results of that choice.

5. Hiding or Divulging Information

Failing to divulge information from the results of a study on the safety of a new product, or choosing to take your companies proprietary product information to a new job are examples that fall into this category.

6. Taking Unfair Advantage

Have you ever wondered why there seem to be so many product safety rules and procedures? It is primarily the result of laws passed by government institutions to protect the consumer from companies that previously took unfair advantage of them because of their lack of knowledge or through complex contractual obligations.

7. Committing Acts of Personal Decadence

Over time, it has become increasing clear that the acts of employees outside of work can have a negative effect on a businesses image. This is one of the primary reasons companies are minimizing social interactions or events, outside of the office, so that drug or alcohol related events can not be tracked back to the company.

8. Perpetuating Interpersonal Abuse

At the heart of this category of ethical misbehavior is the abuse of employees through sexual harassment, verbal lashing, or public humiliation by a company leader.

9. Permitting Organizational Abuse

When an organization chooses to operate in another country, it sometimes butts up against social culture in which child labor, demeaning work environments or excessive hours are required. It is at this point that the leaders of the company have a choice…whether to perpetuate that abuse or alleviate it.

10. Violating Rules

In some cases, people or organizations violate rules to expedite a process or decision. In many of these cases, the results would have been the same regardless, but by violating the rules or required procedures for that outcome, they can potentially scar the reputation of the organization they work for.

11. Condoning Unethical Actions

Suppose you are at work one day and you notice that a colleague of yours is using petty cash for personal purchases and fail to report it. Perhaps you know that a new product in development has safety issues, but you don’t speak out. In these examples, failing to do right creates a wrong.

12. Balancing Ethical Dilemmas

What about a situation that would be considered neither right, nor wrong? What should be done here? Should Google or Microsoft do business in China when human rights violations are committed daily? Sometimes an organization must balance the need to do business with any ethical dilemmas that might arise from doing business.
