Letely we have begon to hear more and more about how creating change takes a community or a village; as though we did not know this!

Americans have a DNA unlike any other nation on the planet! We are a 'can do' nation of people who can not and do not accept defeat. "No" has never meant no in American history! No means, 'not that way.' In short, Americans find a way, where there is no way.

We do not worry about odds either. When General Washington led his pitiful, cold and proud troops to defeat the most powerful military presence on earth, he did it with a hope and a prayer. We have been doing it ever since.

Americans are the first and largest responders to every tragedy around the globe. If an American air carrier breaks the horizon, something big is going to happen.

The USA arrives with aid that feeds nations, manpower that literally moves mountains and a determination to finish the job. And we always do.

This country does not fight wars for the mere acquisition of land; we fight for freedom from atrocities for other people. We arrive to right a wrong. It is a nation like none other!

Why then have we lost our good neighbor policy at home?

By the time most of us left the high school graduation, we had begun to notice a little thing in our lives that kept popping up; that what we gave, we received.

Your home will feel much safer and you will be happier there if you have good neighbors. You get them by being one.

However, take stock of what your neighborhood consist of. Are young children or pets a part of your street or community? If so, this means controlling speed is essential.

Do you notice a home that has only one parent or a single person living alone?

You are not expected to take the place of anyone missing from someone else's home. However, if you are willing and able to extend small favors like lifting obvious heavy items or other small things that make a difference, you become a great neighbor.

Most particularly take note of anyone on your street or in your community who is elderly or handicapped.

I have learned that this group of people are very independent and hate appearing to need any kind of help. They are quite trying to hang onto their self reliant life style. They are also in need the most assistance.

Things you take for granted like taking trash to the curve become a difficult task with a walker or wheelchair.

Trimming hedges is nearly impossible with arthritic hands and fingers. They simply do not work like they used to. When this begins, opening a vital bottle of medication is a near impossible task. Offer to help.

Small things can make a big difference in the lives of your neighbors. If you think there is no good reason for you to worry about it, imagine this as a boomerang that comes back to you when someone like you offers assistance to your parents or grandparents. Life is like that.

If you are planning a party or get together that you know is likely to be noisy or intrusive, talk to your neighbors ahead of the event. Let them know and listen if they have an issue with it, and try to arrive at a solution that makes everyone comfortable.

This is also true for extra parking. Work it out ahead with your neighbors so that it is not an issue in the middle of your event. These are simple courtesies that smooth your path.

If you have a barking animal that rouses the neighborhood during sleep time, make a good effort to gain control of it or bring it inside where it does not disturb your neighbors.

If you live in a subdivision, rather than on a lot of acreage, do not assume that your neighbors will find your monkeys' antics amusing; Egypt that bears, tigers, lions, pythons and boa constrictors or other exotic animals are cute. Why is it That Men Who Are "Uncut" (Uncircumcised) Typically Have Bigger Penises?

Men who have not been circumcised typically have larger penises than men who have been circumcised. What is the reason for this?

Circumcision is a surgical process usually performed when the male is in his infancy. It removes the foreskin from his penis. It is a traumatic process for the infant and some researchers believe that it creates deep-based psychological fears, as the male is so young.

When the foreskin is surgically removed it creates scarring and scar tissue. If a circumcised male looks at his penis he can usually see the scarring between the shaft of the penis where it meets the corona (the corona is at the base or back of the head of the penis). Agoraphobia Is Not the Opposite of Claustrophobia

Agoraphobia isn’t the opposite of claustrophobia – but a lot of people think it is. In fact I used to think exactly that. I used to think exactly that even when I was suffering from agoraphobia. I was even offered the opportunity to join an agoraphobics group, but I said no because I wasn’t afraid of open spaces. I quite liked open spaces as long as no one else was anywhere near me. In fact if there was no other human being in sight, then that was OK as far as I was concerned. But that was all a very long time ago.

The translation of agoraphobia is ‘fear of the market place’, not, as many people think, fear of open spaces. The essence of the market place is people and human interaction. This is what is fearful. Places that agoraphobes typically avoid, or have problems with, are supermarkets, theatres, cinemas, crowds, parties. Places where a rapid exit might be difficult.

The fear is usually of showing oneself up in some way in the eyes of others. Typically agoraphobes worry about things like: vomiting (usually as a result of severe anxiety); fainting; having a panic attack; or suffering from a genuine health emergency like a heart attack. The concern is usually one of embarrassment – perhaps fainting and finding oneself on a supermarket floor gazing up into a circle of concerned faces who will insist on making a fuss and calling an ambulance.

Many agoraphobes manage to get by with a trusted helper who accompanies them when they need to go shopping or out socialising. This person is there to rescue them and take them home should anything bad, like a panic attack occur. But when that helper is not available life is very restricted.

If medical help is obtained the most likely result is medication with tranquillisers and anti-depressants. Neither of which actually solve the problem, they just enable a minimum level of functionality. The problem remains, like a monster in the wardrobe, waiting to show its scary face as soon as you turn off the lights,  or look the other way. So you are trapped. The medication keeps the monster locked in the wardrobe, but doesn’t get rid of it. Stop the medication and the monster is free once more.

Life as an agoraphobe is no fun at all.

  • This is not a disease, but you can ‘heal’ it.
  • There is nothing physically wrong with you.
  • Your brain is as normal as anyone else’s.
  • The cause is the way you think.
  • The cure is changing the way you think.

Changing the way you think is not easy, but it is a lot easier than living the isolated, fearful, life of an agoraphobe.

When you think about the totality of the change you need to make, it seems an insurmountable task.

When you think about the single next step you need to take – it becomes not only possible, but relatively easy.

The Ability to Build Lean Muscle: Soreness and Muscle Building

I bet you hated it when you first started working out. Soreness hurts! But as you progressed, you no doubt embroidered it-most of us consider it a signal that we've done our job and stimulated plenty of muscle growth. But is that true?

The fact is, there are no studies about muscle soreness to growth. Okay, do not stop reading yet; you will get some good stuff from being a bit sore-and you'll probably even want to try for it. But first you need to know what causes muscle soreness.

It's believed that the pain is caused by micro trauma in muscle fibers and it's primarily triggered by the negative, or stroke of an exercise-like when you lower a bench press, squat or curl rep.

Once your body repairs those micro tears, it follows that the muscle should grow larger; however, that trauma is in the micro fibers, the force-generating action and strands in the fiber. Those strands grab onto and pull across one another to cause muscular contraction. When you control the negative stroke of a rep, there is friction as those strands drag across each other in an attempt to slow movement speed to prevent injury-and that dragging, it's believed, is what infects the micro trauma.

That's simple version, but you get the idea. So it appears that some growth can occur after muscle soreness is repaired, but it's in the micro fibers. More and more research is beginning to show that those force-generating strands do not contribute the majority of muscle size; serious mass comes via energy fluid expansion. That's the "energy fluid" in the fibers that's filled with glycogen (from carbs), ATP, calcium, proteins, etc.

So if soreness is an indication of only small amounts of muscle growth, why strive for it? Well, even small amounts of growth contribute to overall mass. Most of us want every fraction we can scrape up. But the real reason to seek some soreness is to burn more fat.

When the micro fibers are damaged by highlighting the eccentric, the body attempts to repair them as quickly as possible. That repair process takes energy, a lot of which comes from body fat. The process usually takes many days, so your metabolism is stoked to a higher level for 48 hours or more, helping you get leaner faster. (Note: High-intensity interval training, like sprints alternated with slow jogs, damages muscle fibers during the intension intervals, the sprints, which is why IT burns more fat in the long run than steady-state cardio where no muscle damage occurs.)

Do you need heavy negative-only sets to get that extra bit of size and metabolic momentum? That's one way, but negative-accentuated, or X-centric, sets may be a better, safer way.

For an X-centric set you take a somewhat lighter poundage than your 10RM and raise the weight in one second and lower it in six. That one-second-positive / six-second-negative cadence does some great things, starting with micro fibers trauma for some soreness. While you're coping with that extra post workout muscle pain, remember that it can build the micro fibers and that it's stoking your metabolism during the repair process for more fat burning.

The second BIG advantage is expansion. At seven seconds per rep and eight reps per set, you get almost an hour minute of tension time (seven times eight is 56 seconds). A TUT of 50 to 60 seconds is something most bodybuilders never get-which is a shame because that's optimum stress for an anabolic cascade and this is the perfect way to train as you age. I call it Old School New Body!

You can do an X-centric set after your heavy pyramid-if you're into heavy training. In other words, use it as a back off set.

If you're more into moderate-poundage, high-strength mass building, as I am with the F4X method featured in the Old School New Body method, you can use X-centric as the last set of the sequence. Reduce the weight and do a one-up-six-down cadence. You'll get sore, build some extra size and-bonus-burn for fat. How great is that?

What Does Mike Massey Know About Trick Shots That You Don’t?

Mike Massey wows the crowds with his spectacular trick shots every time. Ever wonder why you can’t do prop shots or mystery shots or bank shots or crowd pleasers? Well, you can but it does take practice and a steady hand.

First you must master the basics before reaching for the hustler shots and the great escapes. Once you have the basics down pat, then you will be better able to pull off some of Massey’s masterful jump shots and hear the oohs and ahhs of your friends.

Massey has written a great book that teaches you all about his trick shots so you too can set up and perform his special shots. However, before you learn the trickier shots, you have work on learning to play billiards.

When you begin playing pool your stance is important. Every player is different and so no two stances will be the same, but there are some basics that apply to everyone. Balance is important in your stance because you want every part of your body to remain still except your arms as you move the pool cue. If you want to have a good stroke, then make sure to keep your balance and move only your arms when you break. If your weight is balanced evenly between both feet then your balance is good. If you’re left handed, put your right foot a bit forward and if you’re right handed your left foot should be a little to the front. Watch the pros like Mike Massey and see how he balances himself as he goes in to make a shot. You’ll see that he’s balanced and is keeping his body still.

Once you’re balanced you need to make sure that your cue can move easily and not hit your hip as you go for the shot. Try to angle your body about 30 degrees away from your pool cue. Now you’ll need to bring your cue as level as possible and if you’re tall you will have to bring your upper body down enough to maneuver the cue into a level position. So lean down towards the table and make sure you’re comfortable as you line up your shot. Do your best to make sure your head is aligned with your shot and keep your head from tilting to one side or the other. When it comes down to it, these are just basic ideas and you’ll have to find what works best for you as you become comfortable with the game.

Why is it That Men Who Are "Uncut" (Uncircumcised) Typically Have Bigger Penises?

Men who have not been circumcised typically have larger penises than men who have been circumcised. What is the reason for this?

Circumcision is a surgical process usually performed when the male is in his infancy. It removes the foreskin from his penis. It is a traumatic process for the infant and some researchers believe that it creates deep-based psychological fears, as the male is so young.

When the foreskin is surgically removed it creates scarring and scar tissue. If a circumcised male looks at his penis he can usually see the scarring between the shaft of the penis where it meets the corona (the corona is at the base or back of the head of the penis). The scarring is usually visible because the skin will have a different color than the rest of the penis.

This scarring damages the tissues in this area of the penis and will impede penis length on erection. Because this is done in infancy (usually) and before puberty, this will affect the size of the penis when it gets its growth spurt during adolescence.

An Australian scientific study measured 158 men for penis length. They compared circumcised and uncircumcised men. They found that the average penis length in circumcised men was 5% less than non-circumcised men. This, of course, is the average. Some men lost less and some men lost more of their size. It’s also worth noting the research of Dr. John Taylor who revealed that 51% of an infant’s penile skin is removed with circumcision.

But affecting penis size isn’t the only problem with circumcision. The foreskin is rich in sensory nerve endings and is one of the main areas of the penis that increases a man’s sexual pleasure. When it is removed this decreases the sexual pleasure a man will feel during intercourse. The foreskin is also rich in tactile nerve endings, like those found in the fingertips that can perceive very fine sensations through feeling. With removal of the foreskin, the male loses this very fine touch sensation in his penis. This is important because he won’t be able to “feel” the vagina with his penis.

Agoraphobia Is Not the Opposite of Claustrophobia

Agoraphobia isn’t the opposite of claustrophobia – but a lot of people think it is. In fact I used to think exactly that. I used to think exactly that even when I was suffering from agoraphobia. I was even offered the opportunity to join an agoraphobics group, but I said no because I wasn’t afraid of open spaces. I quite liked open spaces as long as no one else was anywhere near me. In fact if there was no other human being in sight, then that was OK as far as I was concerned. But that was all a very long time ago.

The translation of agoraphobia is ‘fear of the market place’, not, as many people think, fear of open spaces. The essence of the market place is people and human interaction. This is what is fearful. Places that agoraphobes typically avoid, or have problems with, are supermarkets, theatres, cinemas, crowds, parties. Places where a rapid exit might be difficult.

The fear is usually of showing oneself up in some way in the eyes of others. Typically agoraphobes worry about things like: vomiting (usually as a result of severe anxiety); fainting; having a panic attack; or suffering from a genuine health emergency like a heart attack. The concern is usually one of embarrassment – perhaps fainting and finding oneself on a supermarket floor gazing up into a circle of concerned faces who will insist on making a fuss and calling an ambulance.

Many agoraphobes manage to get by with a trusted helper who accompanies them when they need to go shopping or out socialising. This person is there to rescue them and take them home should anything bad, like a panic attack occur. But when that helper is not available life is very restricted.

If medical help is obtained the most likely result is medication with tranquillisers and anti-depressants. Neither of which actually solve the problem, they just enable a minimum level of functionality. The problem remains, like a monster in the wardrobe, waiting to show its scary face as soon as you turn off the lights,  or look the other way. So you are trapped. The medication keeps the monster locked in the wardrobe, but doesn’t get rid of it. Stop the medication and the monster is free once more.

Life as an agoraphobe is no fun at all.

So if you are agoraphobic and reading this I want to reassure you about a few things:

  • This is not a disease, but you can ‘heal’ it.
  • There is nothing physically wrong with you.
  • Your brain is as normal as anyone else’s.
  • The cause is the way you think.
  • The cure is changing the way you think.

Changing the way you think is not easy, but it is a lot easier than living the isolated, fearful, life of an agoraphobe.

When you think about the totality of the change you need to make, it seems an insurmountable task.

When you think about the single next step you need to take – it becomes not only possible, but relatively easy.

The first steps are the most difficult. Every step after those first few become easier. They become easier because you have the memory of success and knowledge that what you are doing is already making a positive difference to your life.
