Planning School Assemblies to Meet State Standards

I love National Public Radio! Listening to NPR on my way to the office in the morning I often hear about things that are fascinating and about which I knew nothing before.

This morning there was a piece on a new astronomical event. Appropriately, in 1979, a star was observed exploding into a Super Nova. But this was no ordinary event. It seemed the explosion was large enough that it may have produced a black hole. And evidence suggests that this hole has, in the last thirty years, consumed an amount of mass equal to that of our planet planet, which, as these things go, is a lot! And this seems to be the very first time astronomers have been able to witness a black hole being born in a normal Super Nova. Way cool!

And this got me to thinking about, of course, school assemblies. Kids love this stuff. They love the stars, and astronomy. And aspects of astronomy and earth science are all through the state standards in most states. And yet there is often a disconnect between the innate curiosity of kids in this regard, and the teaching of the subject in school.

Not long ago I was out an a Boy Scout out with my son's scout troop and we had with us a young scout from an inner city neighborhood. That light, after all the young guys had turned in, but when the adults were still up chatting around a small fire, this young man got up to see what was going on. It was a clear night and by chance he looked up and was instantly transfixed by the sheer number and brilliance of the stars that were visible that night. Growing up in the city, he had had no idea of the number of stars to be seen on a clear dark night outside the lights of the city. He must have stood there for a good 45 minutes just lost in wonder.

It was a great teachable moment and we used it to point out a few of the better known constellations. It was a great moment!

But many young people never get that opportunity, and the context within a classroom is often so disconnected as to leave the students struggling to find the passion.

Yet they need to learn about the universe as this area is directly specified in the educational standards of most states. Almost every state has sections of their state standards throughout elementary and middle school that relate directly to our solar system, astronomy and the stars.

A field trip to a planetarium is great for this. However, many schools are not near a permanent facility, and often the transportation costs involved in a field trip are prohibitive. This is where school assembly programs can be of immense value to a school. Various companies provide schools the alternative of hosting a visit from a traveling planetarium. In these cases the dome is usually inflatable and sets up in the gymnasium for the day. Far from a simple entertaining distraction, programs such as these cater directly to educational standards, and do so in a fascinating, kid-friendly manner that encourages excitation and a desire to learn more.

There are various options available in this area. In some cases the program is a simple rental of equipment where the school must provide a trained operator, usually a teacher who knows how to use the equipment. Sometimes the unit provides a taped narrative which functions automatically once the program begins, like watching a movie. However, the best option is when the company sends a live professional presenter along with the planetarium so the presentation is live, adaptable and thoroughly polished, and can answer questions from students as the program proceeds.

There are also different options in capacity. Inflatable planetariums come in different sizes, and this is important because it affects how many presentations it will take to get all of your students through. Some units are small and will only handle a class at a time. If you wish to include your entire school, try to look for a company with a dome large enough that it will hold 80-100 students at a time. That way you will be able to get an average school of 300-500 through in just one day. Otherwise you will unduly be faced with hosting the program for multiple days which is not only expensive, but can be very disruptive to the schedule of a school.

Finally, look for up to date technology. Older star projectors were analogue and basically comprised of a canister of film over a light bulb. While serviceable at the time, such systems are primitive and can actually be accepted now in some toy stores. Newer digital systems provide a vastly superior program and feature advanced computer generated graphics.

Whichever way you go, your students will benefit, and their test scores should rise correspondingly. And one day, should one of the students happen to be traveling in a car with an NPR addicted Dad, and should they happen to hear the same report this Dad heard this morning, it may well be the student who says "Hey, Dad, turn that up. That's the thing we heard about in school "And that that is cool!

The Advantages Of GPS Marine Navigation

Everything You Need To Know About GPS Marine Navigation

Nautical GPS systems have come along away since they first came onto the market, and you do not need to be an expert of the ocean to be able to use one. Each year the technology in GPS marine navigation systems just keeps getting better and better, giving them many more features and much more power!

But does all this technology make them a more practical navigation tool when in the middle of the ocean faced with sun, salt and spray?

Before you spend your hard earned money on the next best GPS marine navigation system, it is best to get an understanding of what they are, what they do and why you might need one.

What Are GPS Marine Navigation Systems?

GPS stands for global positioning system and a marine GPS is designed specifically for the marine environment. These devices are strongly recommended due to the increased safety they bring to navigators of the open waters. In fact, sailing courses now include the use of GPS systems within their training courses.

The most basic of the GPS marine navigation systems are usually handheld, you can then get chartplotter devices, and computers connected to a GPS

They use satellites to determine the speed and direction of the ship which is then shown on the screen of the instrument. With a chartplotter device it also allows for the ships course to be plotted electronically.

If you are out on the ocean and are experiencing difficulties or are in danger, you can use the GPS to signal the ships position to rescuers so they know where to go. This may not be an available option on older models, but current ones most likely have this feature.

GPS marine navigation systems usually have built in alarms that sound if you were to go off course or if your anchor is dragging. These alarms are not usually very loud and as the ocean can be noisy in rough waters, you may want to find a unit that can be connected to an external alarm on the boat.

So let’s take a look at the different types of devices available to you in more detail.

· Handheld- Although these are the cheapest of the devices they are usually just as accurate. As it is handheld it can be used in other situations such as hiking or in the car! It can get a bit difficult using the often small buttons on the device, especially if you’re are in rough waters, although most of the handheld units come with a mounting bracket. Sometimes the signal can become weak on these devices so it may be a good idea to purchase one that allows an external antenna to be used.

· Chartplotters- Compared to the handhelds the chartplotters are a big improvement. This type of GPS marine navigation displays the information overlaid on nautical charts. This will be the primary navigation tool and whilst not a complete replacement for paper charts, it has a large screen, and the buttons are a lot larger than the handheld devices. The chartplotter needs to be mounted to a fixed surface and they usually all come with external antennas, so placement shouldn’t be an issue. The screen sizes vary from between 5-10 inches and you will have to pay more if you want a colour screen. Most chartplotters are integrated with the GPS receiver, meaning that they are both included in one unit.

· Computer Connected To GPS- A computer can be used with different types of GPS: Sensor, chartplotter or standard GPS receiver. The computers are usually only used below deck as the screens are hard to see in direct sunlight. One advantage of using GPS marine navigation with a computer is that the planning and navigation is all done on one unit. The computer is more powerful than a chartplotter and this means that there are more software choices and also 3D display applications can also be run. There are even computers and laptops especially made for the marine environment!

These are your three main options if you are thinking of purchasing a GPS marine navigation device, but it will come down to your budget and also what features you personally want. Don’t pay over the top for features that you don’t think you will need.

Lift Your Mood – 3 Things You Can Do to Help Your Mental Well Being

There are a lot of internal and external pressures that can alter the way we feel mentally. Today's hectic and demanding lifestyles can gradually wear us down without us even realizing it. If you are one of those people who feel weary, tired and mentally fatigued, here are 3 things that can help.

Change your diet – If you indulge in fast food then try and replace it with fresh fruit and vegetables. A recent study showed that school children that ate a healthy well balanced diet were much calmer and more attentive compared to those who ate highly processed food. Also try to drink more water as this will help to flush out toxins from the body and brain.

Get some exercise – This will enable the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters in the brain that help to combat the feelings of stress. Even if you just take up gentle exercise like walking it will help you to feel more relaxed. Just getting moving will also help rid your system of harmful toxins.

Quit drinking and smoking – If you drink and smoke as a quick fix to release stress then you are unfortunately compounding the problem in the long run. These are 2 things that will really make a difference if you can cut them out. Easier said than done and if you have a hard time stopping then at least try to cut back.

Small changes in lifestyle now can have an amazingly positive effect over the long term. Being mentally fit will help you overcome the hurdles that we all encounter in life.

Facts You Should Know About Baby Shower Etiquette

Whether you’re hosting a baby shower for the first time or not, chances are you’ve got some questions regarding the right baby shower etiquette. You want to create a truly special time for the guest of honor without any unintended faux pas. This guide was specially created to help you do exactly that.

The real basics

  • Take the wishes of the mom-to-be into account at every stage. That includes the games, food, invitation list and all other aspects of the baby shower.
  • You can have baby showers either before or after the baby is born. Generally, they’re held 1 or 2 months before due date. But they’re also held after baby arrives because of medical or other reasons.
  • These days, it is perfectly OK for a close relative or even the couple themselves to host a shower. Those “rules” about only non-relatives hosting a baby shower are quite dated now.
  • Before deciding on the kind of baby shower you plan to have — girls-only or coed, theme or no theme and so on — consult mom-to-be and find out what she prefers.
  • Who can be invited? Generally, anyone the mom-to-be feels she should call. She’s the best guide here.
  • Do you always need to send written baby shower invitations? It is usually the better choice. With a written invitation, guests have all details at their fingertips and need not rely on memory. Plus, you can (and usually should) include directions on how to get there.
  • At the same time, it is fine to just inform people on the phone. Do tell them well in advance, though. So they have enough time to buy gifts, arrange for a baby sitter, etc. And leave your contact numbers with them so they can reach you easily if they need any clarifications.
  • Can you hold a surprise shower? Sure. It can be a wonderful feeling for the expectant mother. But do consult someone close to her (mother, sister, etc) to know about her likely preferences in all areas.

The devil is in the details

Here’s additional information on baby shower etiquette that’ll help you host a truly great party.

  • Send out shower invitations at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance. Send them even earlier for out-of-town guests. Request an RSVP by a date 2 weeks before the baby shower.
  • If you’re having a coed shower, you might turn the guys off if you send frilly baby pink invites full of baby talk. Stick to attractive, stylish invitations.
  • If you’re planning a formal baby shower, avoid totally goofy games. At coed parties (or even at all-girl events), be wary of playing shower games that focus on expectant mom’s tummy — she may not be comfortable with them. Check with her about choices of games and ice-breaker activities.
  • Greet all guests at the door as they walk in, provide them with name tags (if there are many guests) and introduce them to others to get conversations going.
  • Lots of women have very different food preferences when they’re pregnant as opposed to at other times. So do check with the guest of honor while finalizing the menu — yes, every single item! She may have some ideas of her own about what baby shower food she prefers. Avoid foods are not recommended during pregnancy.
  • It’s a real hassle for guests to eat a meal balancing their plate on their lap. Good shower etiquette demands that you provide sufficient tables so everyone can enjoy their meals. That way they don’t have to worry about whether they’re about to spill food on the floor!
  • Don’t skimp on quantities of food. Sometimes a lot more may get consumed than you had bargained for! Same holds for baby shower favors, drinks, ice, etc — having a little extra buys you peace of mind.
  • Register for gifts at only one place. Even if there are reasons like another store being closer to some guests. Else mom-to-be may end up with duplicate gifts she may have to return. And guests will be disappointed if they find that someone else has chosen the same gift they have.
  • While giving gift suggestions, include items at a variety of price points, not just high-ticket items. And do suggest that guests can get together to purchase higher priced items.
  • If there are older siblings, make sure they receive a gift each. They may already be feeling somewhat left out with a new baby on the way, so this is a great idea.
  • Irrespective of whether it’s a coed baby shower or not, buy a gift specially for dad. He should feel that he was remembered too.
  • Record who gave each gift. Essential information when the time comes to send thank you cards! Sending thank you cards is essential baby shower etiquette.
  • Hand gifts to mom-to-be for her to open and take it from her once she’s done with it. This will save her the hassle of continually getting up and moving about to pick up gifts.
  • Sometimes, some guests may need to leave early. They’ll appreciate it if mom-to-be will open presents while everyone is eating.
  • Start the baby shower on time and keep it fairly short. Don’t get bogged down in any one segment like games. Be sensitive to mom-to-be’s energy level and any signs of fatigue she may show. End the party if she’s beginning to feel run down. Walk guests to the door as they leave and be sure to thank them for coming.
  • Don’t expect perfection. No party ever is perfect. There’s always the unforeseen — power goes off just as gifts are being opened, you forgot to dust one corner of the room, the pack of baby shower favors you opened just before the party turns out to be a different color than you ordered and so on. You can’t control it all.

Special situations

You might have a friend or relative who just lost a baby, or is infertile despite all treatments. Should you call her for your baby shower? Attending may be a challenge for her. Being confronted with another’s pregnancy may be difficult for her to bear.

The rule in such situations is — ask. Check with her and find out if she is up to attending the baby shower. Don’t just send an invitation in the mail. On the other hand, don’t presume that she can’t come and not call her at all. If she’s close to the mom-to-be, she may well want to come. Or at least, she may send her good wishes and a gift.

But if she tells you that she can’t make it, accept the situation with grace. Never hold it against her in any manner. Even if she said she would come and later backed out. Remember, it is probably one of the most difficult times she’s ever had, so be generous and supportive.

Once you’ve understood these simple baby shower etiquette guidelines, you’ll be far more confident about hosting a baby shower. Have fun, and create a special time that will live on in everyone’s memories!

Induction Cooking It's A Kind Of Magic

It could just be that when you speak to a person and tell that you do all your cooking on an induction stove you will be asked the question what an induction stove is. A lot of people may have heard of it but probably have never cooked on one and may even not understand the principle behind it. We can put cooking stoves in to 2 major categories sometimes gas and electric. There used to be 3 but coal / wood these days are only use for barbecues or some other type of outdoor cooking but for day to day cooking we use either gas or electricity.

Electric stoves can be divided in 3 sub classes, they are:

. The classic and still popular stoves with coil elements

. The halogen heaters

. The induction stoves

With a halogen or coil element stove they produce the heat that gets transferred to the pot, pan, cooker etc. etc. and then to the contents of those, with induction it the other way around. When your cooking on an induction stove the pot or pan is the one generating the heat. When you hear this for the first time it might be a bit confusing to you but it is not that hard to understand. Ones you understand the principle behind induction cooking and you get your first experience with this type of stove you will probably never want to cook on anything else again.

The principles behind induction cooking

An electric stove with a coil or halogen works in such a way that once you turn the stove on the element (the coil or halogen) will start to heat up. It does not matter if there is a pot or pan on that element or not it will heat up either way. That heat is then, like we said before, transferred to the pot or pan and then to the food. When you take the pot or pan of the element it will remain hot until you turn it off, then it will slowly start to cool but this will take some time. With induction cooking the element will start to produce a high frequency electromagnetic field which passes right through the pot or pan. The pot or pan must be made out of magnetic material. This electric (magnetic) current that circulates is what generates the heat. This is the big difference between induction cooking and the other two types of electric cooking.

Now that the pot or pan is heating up that same heat is transferred to the food or liquid that is inside it. The moment you take the pot or pan from the stove (element) the magnetic field that was circulating is broken and stopped and immediately the generation of heat stops as well. With a coil or halogen element you have to turn the element of to stop the heat generation, with induction cooking there is no heat as long as there is no electromagnetic field circulation. The only heat you will feel when you take the pot or pan from the stove is the heat that was transferred from the pot or pan into the surface of the stove, not the element it myself because that never produced the heat.

There is one thing that you have to keep in mind when you would like to start cooking on an induction stove. You can only use steel or iron pots because the material needs to be magnetic in nature. So all your aluminum, copper or pyrex cookware would have made obsolese once you start cooking on an induction stove.

But if you are used to cooking electric then you will find that once you cook with induction you will probably not go back to that halogen or coil element.

Common Sense Rules to Minimize Email Stress

E-mail has become the scapegoat for worker stress and lost
productivity. Is the criticism fair?

I commented on new research just released in a London Times
story about stress. While reading the story (and being asked to
comment on it during an interview), I could not help but think
that I heard this story before. In the late 1980s and 1990s,
voice mail was the catalyst for all things wrong in the
workplace. Employees and managers alike would complain about
spending an hour or more checking for messages and beginning a
game of phone tag with the caller. Many callers even described
the experience as entering "voice mail hell."

But is technology the culprit or just the cover-up for another
case of communication being used badly. Before email, we had
voice mail and fax machines and just the plain old spoken word.
How much has been written over time about workers wasting time
around the water cooler? And in meetings? And on the phone?
How much time is lost every day listening to people who talk too
much …. or too fast ….. or too loud ….. or about everything but
business?

What it all comes down to is this: communication. To be more
exact, it's the misuse and ineffective use of the tools we use
to communicate with one another. Like every other form of
communication, email can be a magnificent tool when used
properly. When used improperly, it can become a dangerous
weapon.

One thought occurred to me reading the Times story: how many
people are stressed out by other people checking their email.
For a significant segment of the population, email may in fact
be a de-stressor. Admittedly, it is disruptive and bad manners
to be checking email sitting in a business meeting, at the
dinner table, or in the theater. But is it checking email
that's the problem or is it your partners, co-workers or even
the guests at the next table who are stressing because YOU are
checking emails.

Here are a few common sense rules to help minimize email stress:

1. Tell others how you prefer to communicate – by email or phone
– and when you will respond. If you only check emails and voice
mails in the morning or at noon or the end of the day, let the
caller know. Let them know how they might reach you in an
emergency.

2. Ask others how they prefer to receive and respond to
messages. If someone sends an email but you respond by phone,
the sender may not check his voice mail regularly or may not
have access to it. Likewise, the e-mail sender may be traveling
and not be able to respond easily or in a timely manner.

3. Use spam filters or use spam filtering software to cut down
on the number of emails you receive. But be careful to avoid
setting the filters so high that you block important messages.
Check your junk email folder periodically for good emails that
might have been blocked.

4. Set up a special private email account. Give it out to only
those contacts who can reach when an immediate response is
necessary. You can also use text messaging for this purpose too.

Training Like a Manual Laborer

Being a laborer for over 30 years and training for the same amount of time I have a different outlook on training. For years I earned and still do earn a living with my physical and mental toughness. I have to keep myself in shape to continue to feed my family. In 30 plus years doing manual labor I have never hurt my back or ever missed work because of injury on the job.

I don’t always lift with my legs, and never look or worry about form I just do my job. I bend, I twist, I climb, I lift and carry all day long.

It is rare for someone to go and work as many years I have and throw in years of training and not have the body already broke down. One thing is I take care of myself, I eat well and I have a different mindset then most men doing labor work.

I hear it all the time on sites about bad backs, and I’m getting old ( Most are younger than me) I can’t lift things like that anymore. Why is it these guys continue to do a job they physically struggle to do?

The reason is because for years they have heard from others just like them that when you get older you can’t do the same things you once did. Bullshit! At some point you will probably have a decline but these guys just listen to all before them. I have heard it for years, wait til your my age and I have been hearing this since I was 18 I don’t hear it much anymore because of my age.

I get tired of people who will chime in tell you how “They know a guy” or ” My Dad” or My Grand dad” there will always be exceptions but don’t include me in the general labor population, because I do not follow the standards of the basic man.

I decide how things will go, not history. People hate that I act like this and can care less and I am living proof so until someone can prove me wrong I will continue to train like I always have. Training to win in life, training for honor, training for survival is the reason I continue to push my mind and body. The minute we decide we no longer need an advantage is when we will start to lose our edge. Once you feel it no longer matters you are right, you have already lost the edge!

Make a Mortgage Switch Fast Before Rates Go Up Faster

If you want to clear your debts once and for all hightail it to the nearest reputable lender to get a mortgage switch before rates soar to agonizing heights. In the mortgage carousel, it's smart to get on when the rates are low to maximize your mortgage loan.

The Mortgage Switch

An open mortgage presents a nice picture these days but can catch you off guard anytime should soar anew. If the present rates of a closed mortgage are a bit higher than an ARM, at least you know how much you are going to be paying during the lifetime of the mortgage. By totaling your expenses you can regularly keep away the amount you have to pay monthly; should you go short for a month, you can still hold on to your home. A mortgage switch therefore is a ready option.

If you are currently having trouble keeping up with monthly bills or want to pay off all your debts, you can make a mortgage switch and still have enough money to go around. Your bright is understandable because because existing homeowners in your neighborhood are facing the same problem but see the light at the end of a tunnel by switching their mortgage with the same lender or a new lender.

But face it, not all lenders have the same idea about renewing loans. Some lenders have toughened up their requirements in view of the rising defaults and the threat of losses. If you have a good credit standing with your lender, you can easily cinch a lower interest rate with your lender or bank. But if you have been remiss with your payments your application for a mortgage switch might be disapproved OR you have to contend with higher interest rates than what is generally given to good payers.

The current going rates for a fixed rate term for a 10 year mortgage hovers now at 5.200%. If you are paying more than this on your current mortgage and you want a lower interest rate, the mortgage switch will work for you. But make it fast before the figures increase.

The Process

The switch is plainly a new loan or a refinancing scheme. There's no mystery to it – it is still a loan that has to be paid on the dot regularly. Failing to pay the loan on time once or twice in a row can damage your credit rating but here's good news to homeowners with bad credit record – they can use the new loan to clean up their credit record by paying the mortgage bills on time and build equity on their homes, making them eligible for an equity line of credit in the future.

When applying for a mortgage switch, borrowers are asked to fill out lots of paperwork and are hit with stringent lending criteria. These days, with default payments piling up, lenders have lengthened the life loan of a new loan. Instead of looking at ten years to pay off the new mortgage homeowners are saddled with additional years between between 11 and 20 years, depending on the amount of the mortgage switch.

There are also fees to pay but knowing that what you have been through with the first mortgage, you can get better deals by cutting corners. If you are using the same lender for your mortgage switch, there may be some fees that will not be charged. Ask your lender about this or if you are using a mortgage broker to do the dirty work, let him find ways to avoid some fees. He will know what to do.

Our Universal Address-the Solar System

Where do you live? That’s a common question and the common answer is such-and-such Street. We may live apart in terms of street, city, and even nation, but we all have a common address, the Solar System!

How did the solar system come into existence? It is generally believed that it emerged from a gaseous cloud several billion years ago and planets, an important component of the system, were formed out of this gaseous cloud and its dust.

Till last year we all knew that there were nine planets in the Solar System, but now Pluto is officially an outcast! This is because Pluto does not fit the International Astronomical Union’s (IAU) definition of a planet. It is now a dwarf planet.

The chief member of our solar system is the Sun, and its keeps planets in order by its gravitational pull. The Sun is a bright star and exudes heat and light through nuclear fusion. Apart from the Sun, our solar system contains planets, natural satellites, dwarf planets, and small solar system bodies.

A planet, according to the IAU, is a spherical object that orbits the Sun. It must have no small objects near it. Today, there are eight recognized planets in the solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Mercury and Venus have no natural satellite unlike the other six. The Earth’s natural satellite is the Moon.

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars are known as the inner planets, while Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are the outer planets. The former are rocky, have minerals and metals, have few or no natural satellites, and don’t have rings. The latter are known as gas giants and have rings.

Dwarf planets are also spherical objects orbiting the Sun, but unlike planets their surroundings don’t have to be clear of smaller celestial bodies. Pluto, Ceres, and Eris are the dwarf planets in the solar system.

Small solar system bodies include asteroids and comets. Trans-Neptunian objects and other small celestial objects also come under this category. Asteroids are mainly found in the region between Mars and Jupiter. They are rocky objects that could span several hundred kilometers or be small like dust. Ceres is the largest asteroid. Comets are mainly made of ice, and when they come near the Sun this ice melts to form a comma like shape. Comets that have orbits less than 200 years, such as, Halley’s Comet are known as short-period comets, while those with orbits spanning thousands of years are known as long period comets. Small solar system bodies that lie in the region beyond Neptune are known as Trans-Neptunian objects.

Technological advances in the form of telescope and spacecraft have helped scientists to obtain a lot of information about the solar system. It’s not a static situation out there, and as new technologies develop here, new and exciting facts about the solar system are uncovered. And you are wrong if you thought only astronomers and scientists looked through the telescope, it’s a hobby for thousands of people!

  • The first thing you need to do is to estimate the number of tiles you will be using. When purchasing the tiles be sure to add about 10% more tiles to allow for breakage.
  • The next step is to prepare the base floor. Remove the toilet but make sure that all water outlets are shut off. A damp rag stuffed on the hole would stop the emission of sewer gas.
  • The next step now is to remove the old flooring material. Linoleum is easy to remove but you need to pry off old tiles. You can lay the tiles without adhesive so that you will have an idea how the finished project will look. This is most important if you are going to use tiles with designs.
  • If you think the floor is all prep up you can spread the thin-set mortar. A double edged trowel will be needed to spread the mortar. The plain edge side will be used to spread the mortar evenly to the floor. Drag the notched edge over the mortar to create furrows. Lay the tiles on the floor and gently press it to the floor to make the mortar stick. To keep the tiles uniformly spaced, use a vinyl spacer.
  • The next step is to cut the tiles to fit the hole for the toilet. Use a template to accurately get the shape of the hole. Then cut the tile using a wet saw or a tile nipper. After all the tiles are set, apply the grout.
  • Use a rubber grout float to force the grout into the spaces between the tiles. Scrape off the excess grout and use a damp sponge to wipe the surface clean. Allow the tiles and the grout to set for a few days. After which you can now apply the sealer.
  • This is the last step on how to tile a bathroom floor. The grout sealer away from enhancing the look of the bathroom floor will prevent dirt and stains from sticking to the grout.

The Lean Hollywood Look – Why it Appeals to Women

The "lean Hollywood look" in men is the one most inspired by women. Gone are the days when heavily-muscled guys were popular. Checkout any poll in a women's magazine, or listen to discussion on a women's talk show, and they always come back to desiring men who have similar builds to the guys they see on TV and in the movies. The good thing is, though, you can put in some time and effort and achieve this same look.

Physical Traits That Appeal to Women

  • By far, # 1 is a lean, flat torso. They are completely turned-off to flabby abs, beer bellies, and sloppy love handles.
  • Broad defined shoulders that taper naturally to a trim waist.
  • A chest that is lean and has some depth.
  • Arms that have a muscular shape. They do not have to be extremely big or covered in veins.
  • Legs that look like they are strong enough to run easily. Chicks do NOT like guys with flabby thighs.

Armed with this kind of ammunition, you can start working out to achieve this kind of build. It is much easier to drop body fat and build lean muscle mass than it is to put on slabs of dense, bulky muscle without the accompanying fat.

Why Women Find the Lean Hollywood Look Desirable in a Man

  • A guy who is lean and muscular looks fit and self-disciplined.
  • A man who is fit and tight looks like he has far more sexual energy than a flabby soft guy.
  • A guy who is lean and moves with energy gives off vibrations that he is goal-oriented and has ambition.
  • And my all-time favorite: They think guys with lean builds look good in clothes. (Who wudda thunk it?)

You can easily start making some changes in your lifestyle to get the lean Hollywood look that women want in a man.

Just getting rid of things like pop, pizza, fast food meals, beer, bread, sugar cereals, and pastries / desserts from your diet will cut off fat storage on your abs. Working out regularly and consistently with weights will help you start building lean muscle mass. Including interval training in your cardio a few times each week will accelerate fat loss as well as build lean muscle.

Women are adamantly telling us what they want physically in a man. Gearing your diet and training to get the lean Hollywood look will give you an advantage over the competition when it comes time to take off your shirt at a cookout by the lake or a party at the beach.
