Concerns When Building Your Own Solar Panels

UL Approval- If you build your own solar system and see visions of grander in your eyes; you might want to take a step back. Tying to the power company grid or called grid-tye, just will not happen without a UL label on each solar panel, plus the equipment associated with the panels. Obtaining a UL sticker is almost impossible unless you are God!

Structure of Solar Panels- How your panel is made is a real concern. If you are building your own panels then you need to make sure they will last. They should be made with strong aluminum frames using at least 1/4 inch tempered glass. In my experience, building solar panels with plywood is a big mistake. They just will not last in the weather elements.

Encapsulation of the cells- When you build a quality solar panel, you need to seal the cells by encapsulating them with a special sealer made especially for solar panels. If you look at a good commercial panel, you will see how they are sealed which allows cells to flex with temperature changes.

Electrical integrity- Make sure that all your solder joints are done properly so that there are no cold or loose electrical connections. If your charge controller does not have diodes then you will need one at each panel you build. The reason for the diode is to block the electrical current from trying to return back to the solar panel, thus draining your batteries.

Mounting of your solar panels- When you get ready to mount your solar panels you need to think about how you want to mount them. My concern here again is the longevity of your system. I know there are mounting systems that are available but being electrical construction minded I suggest using 1-5/8 inch uni-strut channel available at electrical supply houses as will has your local home supply store. It comes in either 10 or 20 foot lengths. Mounting the channel parallel allows you to mount your panels in straight rows. It also allows air flow below your system keeping your system at a lower temperature.

As you can see there are concerns about building your own solar panels. I must stress again that all these people who tell you that you can make your meter spin backwards, are not telling you the whole story. Like I told you before, tying to the electrical grid is not allowed unless your system has been UL approved and inspected by local authorities. One thing power companies do not want is power being fed back into there grid. All grid tie systems must be equipped with a automatic system that will disconnect your solar from feeding back during power outages.

Painting an Existing Wood Fence

If you have a wood fence it’s a beautiful thing but over time the elements wear it down and you may have even scratched it with a lawn mower or snow shovel. Either way eventually it needs to be repainted and as with most projects around the house this one is easy to do yourself and low cost.

Besides good weather, this is what you’ll need: paint, possibly primer, a good brush, a roller (choose the size depending on the fence), a roller extension, cleaning supplies (rubber gloves, a pale with soup and warm water, a couple of rags), sand paper, scraper, maybe a kneeling pad.

Now, before you start painting you have to make sure the fence is clean. Here are some suggestions:

• Remove any grass, shrubbery, seeds, and the like from the fence.

• Wash off dust, soil, or any other dirt like bird poop with warm water and a little detergent.

• If the fence touches any parts of the house you may want to separate the edges with painter’s tape.

• It’s a good idea to have some card board or thin sheets of wood handy to slip under the fence so you don’t get the brush dirty from the ground when painting the underneath. It will also help block any branches that may still be in the way.

While you are cleaning, inspect the fence for other problems:

• Is any paint chipping? If so you’ll need to do the following. Scrape off the old paint and sand the edges a little to smoothen them out. If the wood is bare you may need to add a little primer on the spot. If so, let the primer spots dry before moving on to the real paint.

• Loose planks? If you find parts of the fence are seriously beginning to wear you may need to nail them back or replace the piece.

• Termites: They show up when you least expect it. If you find signs of them replace those planks too.

Ok; you’ve made it to the real part of the job. Don’t worry if it took a while to get here. It’s better to have the fence ready and free of all other obstacles than have to stop painting in the middle because of one of the above issues.

1. Stir the paint to make sure its all one color and not clumpy

2. Pour your paint in the roller pan at the bottom.

3. Take your roller, dip it in the tray, and begin from the top down. Maybe use the brush for the top open grain. If you hit those spots first you can remove any dripping as you make your way down.

• NOTE: If your fence has a plank and then opening and then another plank (your standard white picket fence), it’s a good idea to do one plank at a time but do the fence in sections. For instant do a row of one frontal side with one edge and then come back and do the other when it’s dry. By doing this you prevent touching the opposite edge when the paint is still wet.

4. Use the brush for any touch ups. Hopefully you won’t need a second coat but if you do just follow the same steps.

How a MLM Plan Can Make or Break Your Future in Network Marketing

A lot of people go online not to surf the Social Networks or meet new people but to actually earn some money. We all should have heard about a MLM plan or a networking idea from friends, strangers who SPAM your mailboxes and even some well known public figures. Most of these are companies that make a huge deal from advertising and claiming that they have the best compensation plan to date.

It is quite easy to get reeled in by their advertisements and people's statements that claim how much money you can make by joining the network. However, choosing the correct network marketing business opportunity on the sole basis of their MLM compensation plan is like counting your chicken before the eggs even hatched. Keep in mind that when it comes to learning the big bucks, you will only get paid if the product moves and you can only earn your residual income if the company has a long standing stability.

To choose which network marketing program suits you, you have to remember a couple of things. First, the simpler the company model is, the better. This is because network marketing should be a simple enough business to be accessible to everyone. There are some companies that have sophisticated and complicated plan packages that you might not understand.

To put it simply: If you can not understand the MLM plan, stay away from it, It might be a brilliant compensation plan and it might pay out more but if you can not understand what you are working for, it won 't be able to motivate you to persevere and we all know that in a networking business, people only succeed if they are determined and disciplined.

Most people who go out and jump in the network marketing bandwagon are mostly driven by hype. After at least 3 months, 95% of these people become inactive and drop out. That is why you need to pick a company with a good solid MLM plan and of course a good product which provides high value to everyone, most especially your target market and not to mention to yourself! After all, if you are promoting something that you do not believe in or can quickly make you doubt its effectiveness, you will most likely not adhere to it and so will the people you sell or share the products to.

Create and Edit Your Favorite Channels With DISH

Here I’ll explain what a favorites list is and how it’ll enhance your experience.

What are Favorites Lists?

These are lineups of your favorite channels. You can create and change the lists, adding and removing channels as you wish. Your channels can be grouped into up to four lists.

  • When using a Favorites List, the Program Guide and Browse Banner display only the channels in the Favorites List. When you use the remote control UP or DOWN ARROW to change channels, the receiver skips channels that are not listed.
  • The All Chan list contains all the channels including channels not in your current subscription. You cannot make any changes to the All Chan.
  • The All Sub list contains all the channels in your subscription. You cannot make any change to the All Sub, except by changing your subscription.
  • The All HD list contains all of the HD channels in your subscription, as well as over-the-air digital channels if your receiver is connected to an over-the-air antenna.
  • Each has a unique color in the Program Guide. You can also give each list a name. The four lists are named List 1, 2, 3, and 4, until you change the list name. The list are empty until you add channels to them.
  • If you choose a program using Themes or by entering a channel number using the remote controls, the receiver tunes to the channel for that program whether or not that channel is active.
  • You can include over-the-air channels in your List if an over-the-air antenna is connected to the receiver.

These hints will help enhance the user experience by allowing users to search find what he or she is looking for any time of the day.

The Journey Of Carpenters

Carpenters are employed throughout the country in almost every community and make up the largest building trades occupation. Carpenters have opportunities to work in residential, commercial, light industrial or heavy construction fields in the areas of new construction, renovations and maintenance.

There are journeyman carpenters, apprentice carpenters, lead certified painters, locksmiths, and carpet layer / tile setters. By 1400 English carpenters routinely applied Gothic arcation and Gothic ornament to the roofs and walls of quite humble buildings such as barns and peasant farmhouses, and to the facades of urban terraces, which Continental counterparts were by comparison 1 quite plain and functional. In the 12th century, several external pressures forced carpenters to modify this system.

During the 12th century English carpenters introduced the soulace, a brace between rafter and collar, to produce a polygonal 8 arch, as at Canon Pyon (Herefs. common-rafter roof in 15 the form of the cruck truss, at first apparently restricted to utilitarian structures, particularly farm buildings. As a result English carpenters developed systems which could be modified not only for houses of different classes, but also for other single- storied buildings, such as churches and barns.

Yet by the middle of the 14th century, and probably in the 1320s, West Midland carpenters had developed a new technique, the arch-braced collar-beam roof, which combined French principal 43 rafter construction with English wind bracing. Masons had of course introduced cusping in the traceried windows of the late 13th century, and some carpenters were quick to follow. On the Continent, Dutch and Flemish carpenters achieved a trefoiled barrel-vault by combining the wagon roof with base-shells, as at the Bijloke in Gent about 54 1300 (slide). However that may be, around the middle of the century carpenters developed king- post roofs, at first with elaborate cusping, like the Porch at 56 Wellington (Herefs. , (slide) as in the south wing of Middle Farm, Harwell, where in the west bay they form an arch over the former staircase entry.

Strong ties with the Nanaimo CHBA and other local contractors, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 527, City of Nanaimo building officials, and many other sub-trades and suppliers have replied in a close cooperative training partnership with the local building industry. Excellent opportunities exist for graduates of this program to obtain carpentry apprenticeships with professional building contractors or the Carpenters Unions. Graduates of this program have been successful in procuring employment in positions such as apprentice carpenters, concrete formers, wood framers, finishing carpenters' helpers, cabinet installers, and home renovators.

There is now some evidence of similar structures in northern France, and the techniques used in them may have inspired French carpenters to invent the wagon or cradle roof, a modification of the earlier English soulaced roof. In 21 the 14th century English carpenters modified the form, thickening up some of the rafters to form principals, and adding at 22 first one purling below, and later several.

IPv4 Vs IPv6 (Advantages and Disadvantages)

We can see the rapid growth of internet users in last few years and this increase also create challenges for internet management groups, stake holders and service providers. Day by day infrastructure of internet is expanding and we can even enjoy the service of internet in villages and remote areas. Increased of usage also increase online devices. In start internet protocol addressing (a specific IP addressing for each online entity) was designed on 32 bit and this scheme IP version called IPv4.IPv4 addressing is like decimal is used to make the IPv4 addresses more palatable for humans and a 32-bit address becomes 4 decimal numbers separated by the period (.) character. If we calculate these decimal values and we can get the total number of devices can be participate on this protocol (256x256x256x256) = allows for 4,294,967,296 addresses. It is about 4 billion of addresses and in early days of internet no one can think, 4 billion slot will be full. here we shall discus some disadvantages of IPv4 as we have seen addressing capability problem and after that we shall go through the solution which will replace IPv4 and addressing structure of the new addressing scheme. we shall go through some disadvantages of IPv4 and new features of IPv6.

Rapid Growth of the Internet and the Exhaustion of the IPv4 Addressing

IPv4 allows for 4,294,967,296 addresses which is about 4 billion and IP allocation limits the public IP addresses to a few hundred million. Cause of this limitation companies using NAT (Network Address Translator) to map single public IP to multiple private IP addresses.

IPv4 Security at IP Level

When we communicate at public medium we need to encrypt data to maintain security and privacy. After a passage of time we have now security for IPv4 packets. This security knows as internet protocol security or IPSec but this is an optional for IPv4.

Internet Backbone Maintaining Large Routing Tables

In IPv4 network IDs allocation is very critical and currently more than 87000 routes in the routing tables of internet backbone routers today. The routing infrastructure is based on flat and hierarchical routing.

Quality of Service Concern in IPv4

Now a days internet users are not only limited with browsing and searching data. Current users are well aware of text and voice and video chat and video conferences and online video libraries. This kind of communication need real time data transfer for quality of service. Normally for these kind of services we use UDP (User Data-gram Protocol) or TCP (Transmission Control Protocol).IPv4 TOS field has limited functionality and, over time, has been redefined and locally interpreted. Additionally, payload identification that uses a TCP or UDP port is not possible when the IPv4 packet payload is encrypted.

As we can see we have some basic problems in practice of IPv4 now we will check some new features of IPv6. here I like to describe the some of basic features of IPv6. Deployment of IPv6 is a big challenge for internet management groups, stake holders and service providers. It is difficult but not impossible. We can see benefits of IPv6 here. Biggest upgrade jump from IPv4 32 bit to IPv6 128 bit.

IPv6 Header Format

New header is designed to minimize header overhead. by moving both nonessential and optional fields to extension headers that are placed after the IPv6 header. IPv6 header is more efficiently processed at intermediate routers and that generates efficiency. IPv6 is 4 time larger than IPv4 and its header size is twice than older version.

IPv6 Large Addressing Space

In IPv6 source and destination addresses is based on 128 bit. 128 bit addressing can produce over 3.4 x 1038 possible combinations. Currently we can say this is enough but who know about future may be it also face same problem like IPv4 after some decades. 128 bit addressing allow us multiple levels of sub-netting and address allocation. So we can say that we have plenty of address for use in future.

Addressing and Routing Infrastructure Efficiency in IPv6

IPv6 designed to create an efficient, hierarchical, and summarize able routing infrastructure that is based on the common occurrence of multiple levels of Internet Service Providers. It reduce the size of routing table of backbone routers. Which is can cause of efficient internet experience.

Security features is now built-in

IPv6 has been design to support IPsec (AH and ESP header support required) also support mobility version Mobile IPv6. IPSec based on two types of extension headers and a protocol to negotiate security settings. The Authentication header (AH) provides data integrity, data authentication, and replay protection for the entire IPv6 packet. It is better form developers who built-in security features in development of IPv6 rather we bolt on later.

Quality of Service (QoS) of IPv6

As we have already seen about the UDP and TCP protocols for streaming and other multimedia services on internet. Cause the usage of these services are increasing day by day IPv6 have a flow level field in its header which make better and special handling for packets from source to destination. Data traffic is identified in the IPv6 header, support for QoS can be achieved even when the packet payload is encrypted with IPSec and ESP.

The Power of Integrity and the Sacred "I"

The sacred "I" is essential to our personal power. It's where our integral selves align with the Divine and the collective unconsciousness.

The sacred "I" is a place with no right or wrong. It's a place of decisions and actions. Often, they can move us harmlessly forward. At other times, they keep us where we are or add distance to the journey.

Living in the sacred "I" is to live in truth, each and every moment. It's accepting that truth changes.

Genuine integrity must be based on truth that is mutable and always open for questioning.

Many things happen as the self evolves. Perceptions, belief systems and externally-driven versions of the world … all dissolve. Truth gifts.

Truth symbiotically creates growth. In turn, growth recreates some truths while discovering new ones.

At times, this can result in a temporary, internal shutdown. It can be similar to the blue screen of death, while the individual reboots reality.

Therefore the sacred "I" – of and in Integrity – is the willingness to live the truth of the moment. We must live them actively, in the moment, as honestly and forthrightly as possible.

Some truths seem to not change. They become like bricks and create a foundation for our reality. With that stability, we can launch ourselves into greater, deeper and more complex truths. This is good.

However, now and then, we must question each of the bricks. Its truth must be retested within our ever-changing reality. We must always be willing to exchange old truths, if necessary, for truths that fit better with the person we have each become.

Truths – and selves – are mutable and must change to evolve.

By contrast, integrity is immutable and never changes. Genuine integrity is the action of living, expressing and being in our truth in every moment.

The power of integrity lies in the simplicity of "what you see is what you get." What you get is who the person is at that moment. With that knowledge, we can accept and place a person in an agreed-upon role within our life. Or, we can reject the person.

Either way, a person of integrity brings what he or she says.

Whether we agree or disagree with it, that person serves as a catalyst in every interaction with the world around them.

That's the double-edged sword of welcoming these individuals into our lives.

The power of what they bring is the illumination that comes with all truth. It helps us to better see who we are. It shows each of us what our own truths are in any given moment.

A person who lives in integrity helps others. He or she gives us the support and strength that we need to live in integrity ourselves.

By discovering the sacred "I" and living within that truth, we choose our paths and how quickly we progress along them. Affirming our own integrity, we recover our personal power.

Sometimes, whether it's comfortable or not, you will attract these vital catalysts into your life.

At other times, you're that individual in someone else's life.

Each is a sacred role, and supports the evolution of the self.

Garden Lighting – Choose What Suit You

Gardens are the important parts of your home that you need to have a keen eye on. They are the natural beauty of a house that adds a sense of belong to nature. Gardens also present the opportunity to showcase your skills and talent in a way that would engage you in some productive activity. Garden lighting, hence, is much more than just the light that you get in your landscape that you love – it is an ideal way to beautify your homes and enjoy the ambience that a well lit garden could create. has now evolved into a serious market, which is evident from the numerous options available in light your garden to perfection and to your satisfaction. Whether it is about solar lights that require no electricity to brighten up your night, or about a whole range of wall lights, decking and patio lights or lanterns, you have an inspiring range for you to choose your garden light from.

Consider the garden zone mini flood light, for instance. This mini flood light is made of bronze and is perfect for a compact garden that is to be lit bright. You could mount this mini light on a spike that could be attached to the ground using the accessories that come with it, or you could mount it on to a fence. with bronze lights come with the dual advantages of power as well as evoking memories of the good old days in terms of quality, relability, style and outlook. A garden could also be made vibrant with submerged, tiltable spotlights with adjustable lenses, which are used extensively to highlight certain aspects of your landscape.

If you are looking for brightness as a preliminary consideration, you should do well to choose a Roma Solar garden, which would be many times brighter than standard solar lamps, working with lithium ion batteries that are not only powerful but are also eco-friendly. You could bring about a romantic feel to your garden by choosing lamp posts as your preferred partners, structures that are aesthetically made with lantern panels made of separate glass pieces. There could be no better way to garden light than choosing the Victorian style lamp posts that would give your garden looks and lighting. Garden lighting could also be drive way lighting or path lighting for low level plants or paths, equipped with reflective shields to reduce glare. With garden lighting, you have the choice.

Power Of Belief

What is belief, after all? It's the mental acceptance of an idea to be true beyond doubt. You accept an idea as a belief because you trust the source and the authority it comes from. May be the idea is based on so called research, or statistics, from your peers or from religion or culture. Once you accept an idea to be a belief, it starts impacting you.

Does Belief really have power? Yes, of course. It is the most powerful force driving the human race. It is one of the major reasons for events in life like achievement, richness, cure of illness, failure, poverty and even death. In fact belief is one of the strongest forces that compel you to take action on some issues and makes you not to act on some others.

Napoleon Hill in his classic book "Think and Grow Rich" mentioned that what ever a mind of human being can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

Have you heard the story of Roger Banister who ran a mile in four minutes? It was believed for years that it is humanly impossible to run a distance of 1 mile in less than four minutes and true enough, nobody did it, in spite of their best efforts. Many people tried but failed in the attempt as it was believed that its not possible.

In 1954, Roger Banister proved it wrong. Not only he ran a distance of 1 mile in 4 minutes, but he also broke the mental barrier. The mental barrier was the belief many people were subscribing to. What happened after that is interesting. The very first year after Roger Banister proved it wrong, there were 37 others who did break the four minute- mile barrier. And the next year there were about 300 people who did the same.

What has changed? Was it the kind of training? Was it, that people born after 1954, were natural fast runners? Or was it that the actual measure of a mile reduced?

NO. What has changed is just the belief people had. Once Roger Banister did it, people were given a new belief, that, it's really possible to run a mile in four minutes.

Have you heard of the Placebo effect? People are told by the doctors that a particular drug will have a particular effect while they were actually given a mere sugar pill. Because the patients place a belief in the doctor and the drug, the actual results show up. Is the pill working? No. What is working is the belief that the pill works.

What's the moral of the above examples mentioned above? Belief makes you act in certain ways. Be very clear about what you believe. Because what you believe can ever become true.

Since you now know that "whatever you believe will ever come true", then why do not you think positive and see that the power of belief works to your advantage.

Start believing in your ability to achieve things in life your goals, your talents, and very soon you will start seeing positive things happening in your life! "Believe it!"

Safeguarding Tax and Financial Records

The IRS recently published a newswire urging people to safeguard their records. IRS Acting Commissioner, Kevin M. Brown stated, "With forecasts calling for an active Atlantic hurricane season, the IRS encourages taxpayers to protect tax and financial documents that can be hard to replace." (Newswire dated June 1, 2007)

Actually wherever or not you live in a hurricane area, there are many things that can happen to destroy important records. We all think about big natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. But there are other disasters that can affect anyone no matter where you live. They include such things as fires, flooded basements, theft, incidentally throwing things away, etc.

If you happen to get audited, the IRS does not particularly care why you no longer have your records and they will go off the records they can gather. The IRS can provide you with W-2 information, income from interest, dividends, stock sales, 1099 information, interest paid on government student loans, and how much mortgage interest you paid to a financial institution. They do not have records of business payments, contributions, dependents, alimony paid, daycare expenses, medical expenses, etc.

There are several ways you can choose to keep your records safe.

1. Paperless Record keeping: With the wide use of computers, internet bank records, W-2 forms, and other documents can easily be downloaded to your computer. Other documents can be scanned in. This can then be saved onto a USB drive as a back up which can be stored in a safety deposit box and / or sent to a relative in another city.

2. CD or DVD: Records can be scanned into the computer and burned onto a CD or DVD. Several copies can be made inexpensively and stored in several places.

3. Record Keeping Companies: There are companies that will copy and keep your records in their vaults so that in the case of a disaster they can provide you with a copy.

4. Protective Boxes and Safes: You can purchase fire proof and water proof boxes and small safes to keep valuable records in. They can work well if you do not live in a place were place where a natural disaster will likely take down the entire house.

Other items you may want to document and keep safe are personal records such as birth certificates, social security cards, passports, insurance documents, home closing documents, and investment documents. In large disasters, it is important to be able to prove who you are and that your children belong to you. If your home is destroyed you may need to prove ownership.

There once was a family of eight. One evening the whole family went to the local pool for an evening of swimming and fun. They were gone about two hours and when they arrived home, their home was on fire. The fire department was there and the neighbors had all been frantically trying to find them. The plug on their toaster had shorted out and started the fire. It was a small fire that was quickly contained, but the fire department would not let the family go in until they were sure everything was safe, which took a day. They stood there with nothing but their swimsuits and towels as neighbors ran to their homes to find clothing and diapers so the family could at least get dressed.

When they were finally able to enter their home, the smoke had damaged everything. They spent a week in a hotel until the insurance could make arrangements to find temporary housing, then came the task of listing all the things that had been destroyed and working with the insurance company to fix their home and replace the contents.

This was a relatively small disaster as opponents go. But it could happen to anyone. In any disaster it is good to have a record of your personal belongings, especially items of greater value. Photographing or video taping the contents of your home can be a great help when filing an insurance claim after a disaster.

Also, if you do not have insurance to cover losses, they can be deducted on your tax returns. Recording what you have, when you purchased it and what you paid for it can also expedite claims. The IRS has a free disaster loss workbook that can help individuals and businesses compile a detailed list of blessings. The IRS publication 584 is for individuals and the publication 584B is for businesses.

Nothing can take away the pain and trauma of a disaster, but being prepared can make the recovery process much easier. Review your emergency plan annually. Make sure records that have been saved are current and up to date. Being prepared takes much of the worry out of life.

What Types of Ceiling Fans Can You Get For Your Home?

Are you looking for ceiling fans for your home, but you are not sure what types are available? There are many types that you can get. You need to spend some time looking at all of your options before you choose the fans that you want to add to your home. This article is going to tell you what some of the different types are that you can get.

One: Ceiling fans for the inside of your home are very popular with many people. Not only do they make the room you place them in look a little nicer, but they also give you some much needed air flow if the weather is hot.

Two: Most people do not realize that you can also get these products for the outdoors. These types of fans can be used in a gazebo, covered porch or somewhere else that has a ceiling you can hang it from.

Three: Kids designs are also one of the popular types of fans because kids like to have air flow also. However, they do not just want any fan in their room; instead, they want to get one that they like, which is very important to children.

These are just a few of the types of fans that you can get to add to your home, inside or outside. Just make sure you take the time to look at all of the ceiling fans you can before you choose the ones that you want in your home. This will ensure that you get the exact ones that you want, instead of just settling for the first ones that you find.

DIY Flooring – Matching Flooring With the Room

One of the most important things you should consider when choosing your DIY flooring is the room you will be installing the flooring in. Different types of flooring are more suited to certain rooms than others. This article will help guide you in choosing the right flooring with your room.

Kitchens kits are often high traffic areas. It is important to purchase flooring that is easy to clean and durable. You may also want to consider purchasing flooring with a non-skid surface to prevent falls on a wet floor. Vinyl flooring is the most popular in kitchens, although ceramic tile is on the rise. Laminated wood flooring is also a good choice as it is more durable than hardwood flooring and easier to clean.

Bathroom The most important feature of bathroom flooring is that it is waterproof. If water is able to see below the flooring it can cause mildew, mold and rot damage. Like in the kitchen, bathroom flooring should be easy to clean and non-skid. Good choices are vinyl and ceramic tile.

Living Room Your options for living room flooring are wide open. You can use carpeting, wood flooring, laminate or just about any other flooring type. The important thing is to match the function and decor of the room. For a more formal living room, hardwood flooring or tile may work. For a family room, carpeting is a good choice.

Dining Room The important thing to keep in mind for the dining room is stain resistance. Light colored carpeting is probably not a good choice due to the possibility of food spillage. Wood, laminate, and tile are good options.

Bedroom Carpeting is a very popular choice for bedrooms. They tend to receive little traffic or wear. It is a good idea to use neutral colors so as not to overwhelm the other aspects of the bedroom and leave flexibility in the design of the room.

Hallways & Stairs These areas tend to be very high traffic areas. You want to make sure that you choose a flooring that is easy to clean and durable. Laminate, vinyl, and wood flooring are good choices. Ceramic tiles are also a popular choice for entry ways as they are easy to clean and provide an eye-appealing first impression to your home.

Remember that the most important thing in choosing flooring for your DIY flooring project is to choose something that you like and will match the decor in your home. But if you keep the above recommendations in mind, you can also choose a flooring that will last for a long time and does not require a large amount of maintenance.

Pumping Up Your Persuasion Muscle

If you do not know it by now, I'm a changed man. My life and health have become drastically improved in the last few years by way of shedding 140+ pounds of fat, adopting a healthy relationship to food and learning to love the gym and exercise.

At my largest I was 425-diabetic, near death and certainly near here being able to bench press anything or hop on a treadmill for sixty minutes. Now I spend at least an hour a day at the gym and I'm feeling incredible with the results improving every aspect of my life.

So why the big pat on the back here? Well, I want to talk to you about patience, perseverance and viewing your persuasion skills as a muscle which you need to exercise daily in order to perform at you best.

One day of exercise a week is not going to do it just as one study session of three hours is much, much less beneficial than twenty minutes a day, every day. In this way the brain muscle works exactly like every other muscle in the body. Researchers have proven that frequent short periods of exercise are significantly more beneficial than a three hour stretch performed less frequently.

Even putting the research away, how easy is it to section off ten or fifteen minutes a couple of times a day as opposed to carving out a huge chunk of time to "cram" the information in?

For some of us patience is a four letter word. We're movers, shakers, doers, persuaders. We get things done because we do not take no for an answer. And here comes the but. . . But, I implore you to be patient with yourself. Some things come easier to some people, some things come slower. Persuasion is so multidimensional, such a layered and rich body of knowledge that there's very little possibility of learning it and utilizing it all at once.

With that said, I do everything in my power to streamline the process and have made significant advances towards this end. And still, it takes time. It's an ongoing education. We're at the edge of the persuasion frontier and that is thrilling. We are at the edge of the persuasion frontier and that is awe-inspiring. And we are the pioneers so we learn from each day, each session, each exercise, each seminar.

That's a lot to digest. (Back to the food metaphors!)

With our intentions set, with our paths illuminated, we set out to add layer upon layer of persuasion muscle to our work lives, our personal lives and our public lives. Slowly, but surely we will build our persuasion arsenal into tight, toned, compact, (or bulky, depending on your taste), versatile, strong, and powerful tools. I can not tell you how much it thrills me to be your persuasion personal trainer.

Do You Know What Lean Manufacturing Is?

Lean Manufacturing is a very good process for Managing Directors to implement through their businesses. This process takes into account all of the waste caused by the carrying out of procedures. The aim is to then minimize the quantity of waste produced without affecting the quality of the end product.

Dating back

The term lean manufacturing has a history that dates back many years. Lean comes from the thinking that in business waste is not a luxury anyone can afford and then the philosophy of producing in a 'lean' way emerged. The basic principles of lean manufacturing can be found in very old documents including those written by Ben Franklin such as 'The Way to Wealth', who in turn greatly influenced Henry Ford a huge advocate for Just In Time production. A method which involves only buying the materials you immediately need, rather than building up a large amount of raw stock which needs constant inventories.

Henry Ford was the Founder of the Ford Motor Company and implemented many 'modern' techniques to ensure that his factory was extremely efficient and economic.

In the work place

Waste in the work place does not necessarily mean a waste of materials such as plastic, metal etc. At the end of the day we do not all work in factories! But it can also mean a waste in people's time, effort and attention.

If you wish to bring lean manufacturing into the work place then all your processes will be scrutinized to find out exactly where waste is being produced and just how it can be eliminated.

Ten Tips to Ensure That You Choose the Right Carpet For Your Home or Office

Buying a new carpet for your home or business is a decision that should not be taken lightly.

The right choices will ensure that your chosen carpet not only looks great but also proves to be a wise investment.

The wrong choices however can be costly in terms of money and time wasted.

The following ten tips should give you a head start when it comes to buying the best carpet for your home or office.

Top Ten Buying Tips

1) Suitability – Ensure that your carpet supplier understands how the carpet will be used in terms of location and potential for wear and tear. Carpeting for your stairs for example may well need to be different from that used for your bedroom. Ensure that you discuss how your chosen flooring will cope with the demands placed upon it with your carpet retailer.

2) Decoration – Your carpet should be a fundamental element of any interior decorating scheme and as such chose your carpet before you start decorating and install it after all the decorating has finished!

3) Style and Design – Carpet offers great versatility in terms of styling, colours and design. Ensure that you have really exhausted all options in terms of colour, style and design before finally picking your chosen carpet.

4) Longevity – What are your expectations of how long your carpet is expected to last? Different carpets will have differing levels of resilience to wear and tear so ensure that you have fully explored all of the options if your carpet is to match your expectations.

5) Budget – Budget is key. Buying a carpet involves additional costs such as getting it fitted, laying underlay and perhaps paying for furniture and other items to be moved or stored. Don’t forget to factor all of these elements into your financial plans.

6) Professionally Measurement – Buying a new carpet is a big investment and as such having your home or office professionally measured will ensure that firstly you buy the correct amount of carpet and secondly that the carpet purchased is suited to the role that it is being asked to perform. Good carpet retailers will offer this service for free!

7) Get a Sample – Samples allow you to judge how your carpet will fit into your home or office and should be viewed in natural and artificial light at differing times of the day. Again good carpet retailers will offer samples for free and ensure that you have the sample to hand when the carpet arrives and is being fitted to ensure that it is exactly what you have ordered!

8) Buy New Underlay – New underlay will extend the life of your carpet by up to 40%. For any size project, fitting new underlay will return the cost invested into it, many times over.

9) Employ a Professional Carpet Fitter – Fitting carpets is a skilled craft and offers of “free fitting” may well come back to haunt you. A well fitted carpet should be seamless and tightly stretched and only professional carpet fitters will achieve the maximum potential from your carpeting investment.
