Birth Control After Pregnancy – A Must For Your And Your Child’s Wellbeing

For you and your child’s wellbeing, you have to take an informed decision regarding birth control after pregnancy. There are many types of birth control methods available in the market today; however, only some of these methods will suit your body. It thus becomes imperative that you weigh the pros and cons of various birth control methods before you choose one.

After the pregnancy period is over your hormones will undergo dramatic changes. Some women will not show any interest in sex, while others will witness an increase in their sex drive. Physically most women are fit to have sex two weeks after giving birth, as the vagina typically takes two weeks to heal and the cervix also closes by this time.

If you are interested in sex after pregnancy, you should understand that there is a huge chance that you could get pregnant again even two weeks after giving birth. Therefore, you have to choose your contraception carefully. Ask your doctor if it is absolutely okay for you to have sex.

Lactational Amenorrhea Method

There are basically four types of birth control after pregnancy methods that women can choose from. Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM), also called the breastfeeding method, can be used by women who are nursing and have not had their menstrual cycle after pregnancy. For this method to be effective you need to breastfeed your baby from both breasts every four hours and in the night every six hours. This method of birth control while breastfeeding works for six months after the baby is born and then you would have to shift to contraception.

Barrier Methods

Barrier methods for birth control after pregnancy include condoms, female condoms, sponges, diaphragms, cervical caps, and shields. They would not cause any harm to your nursing infant.

Hormonal Methods

The hormonal methods for birth control after pregnancy should be taken after careful considerations. If you are nursing, you should not take combination hormone treatment that has estrogen or ethinyl estradiol in it. You can pass on the estrogen to your baby via the breast milk. Progestin-only methods of birth control, like mini-pills, Depo-Provera, etc. are often said to be safe for both you and your baby; however, some doctors claim that progestin can also be passed on to your baby.

IUD

Intra Uterine Devices, like Copper IUD, are safe and effective birth control devices. An IUD will not have any affect on your breast milk, so you can use it even while nursing.

Besides the above mentioned methods you can do what many other women do – keep track of your fertility cycle. Your doctor can help you learn about your fertility cycle. Then all you need to do is abstain from sex on your unsafe days.

Birth control will ensure that you do not get pregnant again soon after giving birth. This will give you time to properly look after yourself and your baby. Most importantly this will also give you time to get back into shape so that you look good after pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about birth control after pregnancy and decide accordingly.

Ever Thought Of Making Your Own Biodiesel Fuel?

Have you ever thought of making homemade biodiesel? Were you even aware that it was possible to make your own biodiesel? Well it is possible and there are many who are doing this very thing right in their own homes. If you are considering making your own biodiesel or if you are just interested in the whole idea, I have a story about where diesel got it's name.

In 1900 a new fuel source was introduced. The amazing thing about this fuel was that it was derived from peanut oil. Unfortunately, shortly after introducing this fuel, the gentleman died, his name was Rudolph Diesel. That is where the name diesel comes from even though the fuel name after him is not from peanut oil, it was a way for people to honor his inventiveness. In time his new fuel was forgotten until recently. And now homemade biodiesel is a process that farmers all over the country are using to help the environment and to save money.

Anyone who is considering making homemade biodiesel should be very careful when researching this procedure. Incorrectly made biodiesel can damage your vehicle by obstruction the fuel system, corroding parts of the engine and deposit debris in the injection pumps. All of these problems can be avoided if you are careful and learn the correct procedure.

You should be aware that after you learn how to make your own home diesel fuel you there may be another set of obstacles you will need to face and they come in the form of local and state governments. You see the government, of course, want to tax any fuel made at home. In other words you would be paying tax on your home biodiesel just as you pay tax on diesel at the pump. Personally, I think this is ludicrous. Do we get taxed on homemade bread, cookies, or any other type of food? No! You can even roll your own cigarettes at home and not get taxed, but when it comes to fuel, the government thinks that is a different story and it is one more way for them to get their hands in your pockets.

As you can imagine, this is causing a lot of hard feelings with farmers. You see farmers feel they have a right to use what they have grown on their own farms to make their own biodiesel. And who can blame them? This is one of those issues that will be evolving over time and should be very interesting to watch.

The bottom line is that homemade biodiesel is possible, is much better for the environment and can save you a lot of money. But, do your homework before trying anything like this and it is even better if you can go a take a class on homemade biodiesel fuel before setting out on your own.

Why Your Diet Does Not Work and How to Fix it

Many people who diet and exercise still have trouble losing weight. What most people do not realize is that their diet, though low in calories, will not create significant weight loss. The problem is that most diets, even the diet pyramid developed by the US Department of Agriculture, tend to be low in fat but high in carbs. Unfortunately as we age, our body becomes more resistant to high carbs and stores them as fat.

Keep in mind that there are two types of carbs. The first is simple carbs, which should always be avoided. Simple carbs comes in the form of sugar, white, bleach or refined flour and other assorted junk foods.

Complex carbs are known as good carbs and come in the form of vegetables, fruits, beans, brown rice, oats and whole grain. These foods are good for us because they are nutritious, high in fiber, and reduce cholesterol, so all carbs are not bad.

The problems with most diets are three fold:

1. Too much hidden sugar.

2. Breads, pasta, noodles and packaged foods which usually come in form of bleach or refined flour and do not be fooled by wheat bread. The label must specify whole grain.

3. Too many Complex carbs (the good carbs).

Complex carbs are a great energy source because it gradually raises blood sugar instead of the sudden peak and crash that happens with simple carbs. Complex carbs feed muscle and brain cells and are necessary as part of the body's nutritional need.

However, as we get older, our body tend to store fat more efficiently. This is probably because of poor dietary habits over a life-time. Most people eat too many carbs and the body learns to store it as excess energy better know as FAT.

Many people over 35 are "carb sensitive" and can not even lose weight on a 1300 calorie a day diet. So the way to defeat the body's inclation to store fat is to give it less carbs towards the late afternoon and increase the intake of lean protein.

You can easily lose weight on 2100 daily calories of reduce carbs and higher protein and NOT LOSE a pound on a 1200 calorie low fat, high carb diet.

So what is the bottom line if you're one of those "carb sensitive" people who can not lose weight on a typical low calorie, high carb diet? Here's the secret.

1. The only carb you should eat after 4 pm is from non-starch vegetables. In other words, reduce your overall carb intake after 4 pm to 20 grams or less.

2. Reduce your total carb intake to 100 grams or less, eating most of your carbs in the morning and early afternoon where you typically need more energy.

3. Other than vegetables, avoid eating carbs in the evening because your body will turn those excess carbs, into stored energy or fat as you prepare for bed. Energy demands are not usually very high in the evening and sleeping hours.

4. The bulk of your carbohydrates consumption should come from complex carbohydrates such as:

* Oats

* Brown rice

* Wild rice

* Barley

* Sweet potatoes

* Legumes

5. Eat frequent, small meals to maintain stable blood sugar which promotes increase fat burn. Plan to eat every 3 hours. You can have small between meal snacks such as nuts, protein shakes, beans mixed with ground turkey or lean beef, salads, chicken breast.

6. Lunch and dinner should consist of lean protein with 2 vegetables. Sweet potato is an excellent early mid day vegetable along with a lean protein such as chicken breast, turkey, roast pork loins, lean pork chops, lean turkey or beef patty with no bread. Avoid sweet potato or any starchy vegetable after 4 pm.

7. Never skip breakfast. Start the day with oatmeal or with a whole grain cereal. Egg whites or egg substitute make a good protein source in the morning.

8. If you have to snack in the late evening, snack on a protein source which does not convert to sugar as easily as carb sources. Deli lunch meat, protein shake, At Atkins protein bar or even sugar free jello (no carbs) makes a good late night snack if you get the urge.

9. Get started today by writing down your meal plan or go to reputable websites like the Diet Forum to get a good plan.

Keep in mind that bodybuilders do not have trouble losing body fat and it's not because they work out all the time. Their secret is diet. Months before a contest, they reduce carbs take but still eat plenty of protein to build muscle. Bodybuilders also eat the majority of their carbs before mid afternoon. They avoid bread, pasta, sugar products and white flour like the plague and can lose 20 to 30 pounds of unwanted fat in less than 12 weeks.

You do not have to be a bodybuilder to lose weight but you should think like one. Follow the suggestions above and watch the fat melt from your body.

The Art of Power Washing Siding

Some of the most common mistakes to avoid made by homeowners and contractors are:

Trying to remove the powdery coating called oxidation on aluminum siding. Removing this coating can cause discoloration and in some cases cause the siding to look like a completely different color.
Using too much pressure can also force water up behind the siding where it will cause mildew behind the siding or in some cases, blow the siding off the house!

Washing the house from the top down or letting chemicals dry on the house, which may leave streaks on the siding.

Using a ladder to clean the upper areas of a house can result in serious injuries and death from slipping off the ladder.
These are the types of mishaps that many people have when trying to do a quick power washing of their home. If you decide to use a power washer on your home, here are some general guidelines to use.

Make sure the machine your using puts out a minimum of 4 gallons of water per minute and less than 1000 PSI.

Most homeowners will buy a machine from a hardware store that puts out 1,000 PSI but only uses 2 gallons per minute of water. While this machine may work, it will triple the amount of time to do the job properly.
Be careful if your making your own washing chemicals. For example, mixing bleach and ammonia can create a poisonous gas.

We suggest that home owners buy a siding wash that's available in most hardware stores and follow the manufactures guidelines for the product. Leave the stronger agents to the pro's or you may end up removing the paint along with the dirt!

The best way to clean siding is by using a power washer that has a chemical injector built into the machine. Using a chemical injector will allow you to pull the soap from the container, mixing it in the machine with water and spray it onto the house using low pressure starting from the bottom up. Make sure when using a power washer that you do not shoot water or chemicals up under the siding, this can cause significant mold problems behind your siding.

Allow the chemical to dwell on the siding, then using low pressure, rinse the product from the siding. Make sure when your rinsing the product off the siding that you start at one end of the siding all the way to the end. Do not stop or vary your distance from the siding, or it will cause the surface to be cleaned un-evenly.

If your siding has small black dots that do not come off during cleaning but can be scraped off using your finger nail. You probably have artillery fungus on your siding. This can not be removed from the siding without causing damage. For more information on Artillery fungus, see the Artillery fungus page.

If you decide this project is more than you want to handle on your own, we would be happy to tell you how to do the job safely and correctly or to find a reputable and experienced company. Just give us a call.

Business Will Be Booming With The IoT

The internet of things (IoT) started out as a simple concept: allow individual objects to communicate directly with each other without the need for human interaction. On its surface that might seem to be cutting humans out of the picture, but that is far from the truth. Not only can this amazing application of technology help to make our lives easier, it also promises to open up a whole new world of business opportunities as it takes hold across the globe.

There are several key areas in which this innovative technology is expected to have a major impact, including the media, the environment, infrastructure, manufacturing and energy management. In each of these areas, there are many business examples where technology will be more integral than ever and again the need for qualified IT professionals will also be more prominent.

In terms of the media, the internet of things will allow for a much greater ability to track consumer needs and target advertising towards a specific audience. By gleaning information directly from a person's refrigerator, for example, you can learn what brands of food they use and send advertisements for those products directly to their phones.

Environmental applications can include everything from air and water monitoring to tracking the movements of wildlife to predicting weather patterns more accurately and issuing warnings quicker. Infrastructure management can help cities keep on top of bridge and road maintenance and public transportation use to help maintain safety. These are just a few business examples, showing how the deployment of smart wireless devices can have a tremendous impact.

The use of the internet of things in manufacturing will be more humble, but it is likely to have an impact on how equipment is used and manufacturing processes are controlled. Large industrial plants can now be connected via the new technology and have the ability to run more smoothly and efficiently. Likewise, the smart systems can be used to improve the function of the power grid, with applications ranging from monitoring personal use to overseeing the use of an entire city in order to maximize efficiency.

With all of these far reaching applications, the business examples afforded by this technology are almost mind-boggling and that is true now more than in the information technology field. As a result, IT professionals will have many more opportunities to put their skills to use to help all sorts of businesses take advantage of this exciting new technology.

Rather than dwindling the participation of humans, the Internet of things will only increase the possibilities and this means opening doors for everyone. In order to get this object-to-object communication process working properly, skilled workers will be needed more than ever. It's not the end of human interaction; it's the beginning of a whole new kind of interaction that could lead to many potentially profitable business opportunities.

Philosophy of a Governing Economy

In contrast to the US economic policies China uses much more decisively economic tools when a situation arises. In many cases when either Global economic crises was on its ways as it happened in 2008-2009 or now when Chinese economy shows overheating the Chinese government does not hesitate to act and to act promptly and decisively. When Real Estate bust in the US provoked rambling effect over the entire Global Marketplace in China a curbing on speculation and targeted low housing preceded similar to what happened to US and EU effect in there.

When in 2009 stimulus packages were needed to add monetary supplies and keep the economy from falling as a result of decreasing export elsewhere and particularly in the US as a main trade Chinese partner, a "flexible" usage of raising Chinese internal demand and expanding trade relations Elsewhere and particularly with South Asian markets suppress Chinese economy in relatively strong growth of over 9%. In the First Quarter China the world's fastest-growing major economy expanded 11.9 percent in comparison to the last year and now Chinese government takes prompt action again:

China's Rules to Curb Property 'Madness' Will Take Effect Now

"The market is having its" last madness "and speculation may dissipate in a year or 18 months on extra action by local authorities and an increased supply of low-price, so-called policy homes, Li said.

Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd., the Hong Kong developer controlled by billionaire Li Ka-shing, said yesterday that efforts to cool the Chinese property market are "timely."

"You want to take action before the market gets too hot," Justin Chiu, executive director of Cheung Kong, said in a Bloomberg Television interview. "Prices have gone up really quite a lot; people buying for their own use should do it within their means.

Chinese government is not persuaded by lobbyists of falling stocks prices "The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.1 percent yesterday" to moderate or change their policies, they are acting indiscrimately using the available "tools" of economics for prevention or stimulus when needed.

In comparison to China, here in US a partly pro political and ideologically motivated system of the ways of economics is used by the government for prevention of economic crisis or stimulating the economy when needed.

President Obama spent years to promote the Health Reform in fierce fight over details sometimes quite irrelevant when the Health Reform is a purely economic "tool" for expanding economic activities and overall for so much needed wealth distribution and redistribution in US. This constant talk of US deficit and constantly rising National Debt also handicaps the Government to take decent prompt action when situation arise.

The economic "tools" are more considered ideological prerogatives for political gains and economics is more considered as a believe in something could be the Right "trickle-down" Capitalism could be the Left more business involved Government, when Economics is a Science by which any "tools" of economics should be used indiscriminitely under different arousing economic conditions, any economic tool should be on the table: curbing speculations, financial regulation, enhancing personal liability of risk management of corporate structures, social policies, infrastructure expenses, health expanses, SME tax breaks and low interest financing, subsidies and etc.

In time in ever globalizing market and rising productivity, industrial production of the production based economies is not going to maintain conditions for many countries all over the world to keep up with their Fiscal expanses. When countries like China are building industrial production to new heights in combination with Japan, Germany and US, these may well build capacities filling the Global supply for such industrial production. Here in context the exhausting Earth resources, the Global pollution and deteriorating environment should be taken in account, too: showing limitations to a constant Global Industrial Growth for all countries so these countries could keep their Fiscal expenses under control.

Industrial production adds the most to any country's GDP at the moment, therefore under the current production based economies for a country to not be industrialized means either this country is very much underdeveloped like Bulgaria or it runs high deficit like Greece and Portugal. For US the effect of decreasing industrial production has a very similar effect to the Bulgaria and Greece: when in some areas like Detroit poverty roars just like it does in Bulgaria high quality is becoming imminent. Thus the policies President Obama is implementing of "artificially" promoting health, SME and tax breaks to the low income are the only economic policies possible under the circumstances, although there should be some better ways for sustained economic growth in which private enterprenuarship is not complicated and freedom of business is not overtaken by governments, because what all learn from the last Great Recession was that Governments could take over businesses, financial institution in a very quickly, and as a conclusion when future recessions hit Governments will go even farther.

China's handling of the last Recession is a good example of how such crisis should be handled but when a well balanced economies is combined with personal freedom of the US the results could be much higher, but to reserve this freedom we should adjust currently used economics to the arousing developments of the New Century.

The Importance Of Fishing Nets

Whether you’re primarily a wade fisherman like me, or a boat or even bank fisherman, your fishing net can be a very important piece of fishing gear. When you fish with light line (like I do) being able to net a fish when you get it close to you can be a huge advantage to landing the fish. Many wade fishermen carry their nets on their back and simply reach behind them and grab the net whenever it’s needed. Then, when the net isn’t in use, it simple hangs of the way on the anglers back. These nets are great for trout and small mouth bass, but the nets are quite small, so aren’t very effective on really large fish.

Bank fishermen can employ nets quite effectively as well. Bank fishermen normally use larger nets than wade fishermen and these nets are equipped with long handles. This way as the fish gets close to the bank, the net can be used to net the fish rather than trying to kick the fish onto dry land or using your hands to grab the fish. Either of these techniques results in fish getting away about 25% of the time. Using a long handled net while bank fishing will result in more fish making it into the cooler, there’s no question about that. I’ve seen handles on bank fisherman’s’ nets that were easily in excess of eight feet! The length of the handle will depend on your fishing situation.

Boat fishermen use nets to avoid having to “hoist” the fish into the boat. Many times, having to do this will result in lost fish. Netting a fish instead of hoisting the fish into the boat is a way to avoid losing said fish. Not to mention the fact that many of the fish caught while fishing in boats are too big to “hoist” and have to bet netted in order to be lifted into the boat. Boat nets usually have handles long enough to reach from the boat to the water comfortably.

The bottom line is that fishing nets can be quite important to catching fish. Even if you’re a catch and release fisherman, netting a fish means that you handle said fish less, which is always a good thing. Remember these less stress we can put on the fish the better, and fishing nets help relieve the stress on the fish.

Seven Ways to Gain Energy

Have you ever found yourself feeling the weight of the world upon your eyelids and wishing you could just take a nap for only a few minutes (or hours)? When this becomes an everyday thing and you realize your productivity and focus is slowly fading away into darkness, it really is vital that you find some ways to gain energy. Here is a list of various ways to gain energy back.

1. Drink lots of water. Most of us have read about the "8 by 8" rule, eight 8 oz. glasses of water each day. This rule is just about right, but it bought to be referred to as the "at least 8 by 8" rule. It is actually recommended for males to take about 12 cups of fluids and females to take 9 cups of fluids. Water is fundamental for our bodies to perform properly and is a massive factor when it comes to getting the vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants our body requires. Water is necessary for our bodies to absorb food, which in turn releases vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants, and often water is used to process these nutrients. Without water, the energy gained through nutrition would be incomplete. If drinking more water is the only thing you do on this list, you still will see a huge energy increase.

2. Get fit. Engage in activity that makes you sweat. When your body increases in lean muscle and decreases in fat, you will gain more energy. Out of all the ways to gain energy, this way will improve as time passes. The more body fat you lose the more energy you gain. Try doing some high intensity interval training (HIIT). This exercise involves spouts of intestine cardio mixed with moderate intensity in 30 second and 90 second intervals accordingly. Do 30 seconds of high intensity cardio (running, swimming, elliptical training, etc.) and 90 seconds of moderate intensity of the same type for 20 minutes.

3. Fuel your body with healthy foods. Good nutrition is critical, everyone knows this, but when it comes to ways to gain energy the right diet becomes a necessity. Eating the right foods will not only help you get fit, but it will fuel your body with the nutrients needed to power your muscles, mind, and spirit. Consume nutrient packed meals. Eat sensibly by building a colorful plate focusing on portion control. This will certainly keep your energy levels high. Eating foods like muffins and cakes may sound good, but in the end it will weigh you down, literally.

4. Power snack. When it comes to snacking make sure to find snacks that contain power boosting nutrients or anti-oxidants. Some good snack ideas that contribute to ways to gain energy are almonds (be careful not to eat too many, they are packed with calories), yogurt, apples with peanut butter, all types of berries, or trail mix.

5. Minimize caffeine. Caffeine can work temporarily, however, if caffeine is used on a daily basis dependency can form and it can have a negative effect on your energy. Occasionally, your body will NEED caffeine for you to only feel a little energy. A mug of coffee in the morning is alright, but do not overdo it. Make sure not to drink caffeine in the evening so that you can avoid insomnia.

6. Stay organized. This may, initially, not seem like it should be on a list about ways to gain energy, but this may in fact bring peace into your life that may significantly bring productivity and focus back. Staying organized will cause less energy to be expelled on chaos (or just trying to find that paperwork you laid God knows where). If you know where everything is and know exactly how your day should be planned out, you spend less than that precious energy on unnecessary circumstances.

7. Stand up and stretch. Start out by stretching your arms over your head and stretching your back, legs, abs, and neck. Take a deep breath and slowly rejuvenate each muscle. After you sit back down or get back to work you should feel a sense of relief and readiness to restore the focus on whatever you were doing.

These ways to gain energy can work independently, but for maximum results incorporated each one of these ways to gain energy into your life.

"Energy is the power that drives every human being. – Germaine Greer

Vauxhall Part Man – Part Machine

The title of the post may be confusing, well it's in reference to the new Vauxhall Signum, an executive car costing around £ 28,000. The reason the title says 'vauxhall part man, part machine' is because essentially it is a machine (a car) but it is stuffed full of boys toys that it feels like it was designed for a man and the car itself is a man wanting to show off his toys (in my opinion anyway)

The Signum was launched in 2003 and was marketed as a premium car for work, family and play wrapped up into one with lots of space and style due to its unique vauxhall parts. The car looks as if its based on the Vauxhall Vectra but longer and combines the best vauxhall parts and features from other cars such the storage ability of an estate, flexibility of a larger multiple personnel vehicle and comfort of a hatchback.

To reveal why the Vauxhall Signum is becoming the most popular Vauxhall estate car you have to examine its car parts. Firstly the very impressive 3 liter V6 engine is a powerful engine which can outperform a Ferrari 360 (according to Total Vauxhall magazine). Normally for this type of car engine in this type of car you would expect to pay no less than 35,000 GBP, but the Signum under cuts this budget and still crams in more Vauxhall parts to make the car unique. Of course you can have different version with the most models using the 2.2 Direct ECOTEC car engine (uses petrol direct injection), still excellent value for the money.

With sport models you can get all the trimming from sporty suspension to 19 inch allow wheels and electric door mirror wipers. It would not be a Signum if it did not have the extras such as chrome door handles and carbon-fiber door trims.

On basic models some nifty car parts are introduced including a IDS (Interactive Driving System) which is advanced which combines many functions such as traction control, corner brake control, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution etc and the inclusion of vauxhall parts such as driver and passenger airbags and side airbag curtains, adjustable child seat clips, rear passenger safety cell etc all ensure the Signum is at the high end of safety.

To accommodate the family and the working man the Signum offers some nice vauxhall parts, including FlexSpace which allows users to choose maximum leg room or more space to put things. Several seats can be moved to reveal more space and can handle long items such as planks of wood or ladders. Other basic features and vauxhall parts adding to its ease are features such as cruise control, rain sensitive windscreen wipers, door lighting etc

You also get some nice navigation car parts such as SatNav and audio and visual controls on the steering wheel for all electronic devices in the vehicle.

To accommodate the family comfort was maintained is several car parts such as support seats, Travel Assistant (enterprises of several things from storage area, armrests, cool box, bin, power sockets, portable DVD player etc). Most models come with air conditioning, front cup holders and door bins. Actually it has more storage than my 2 bedroom apartment.

The Signum is quickly becoming a car to accessories and previous modulations include speaker systems, free view on a small LCD TV, spoilers etc, although the Signum does come with a lot of cool features such as folding out tables, active vision lighting, etc.

So with a nice price tag for the specifications, lots of boy's toys, easily upgradeable and up to a powerful 3 liter v6 engine who can blame people for buying the Vauxhall Signum.

Identifying and Meeting Customer Needs

It is not enough to have business goals and strategies related to providing an excellent customer service experience. It isn’t even enough to have a philosophy of service excellence. While these are foundations, service is about interactions and execution. Every employee is responsible for how they manage interactions with customers (both internal and external) and this includes identifying needs.

Identifying a customer’s need occurs through active listening and effective communication.

ACTIVE LISTENING

Active listening is “listening with all three ears”. To be effective, you need to hear what is being said AND understand emotions. Emotion is interpreted through tone, voice inflection, body language and your own intuition (gut feeling). Active listening contains three concepts: words, tone of voice and body language (55% of communication comes from our body language).

Here are some examples of using active listening to identify needs…

A customer seems to be confused about your service options (i.e., membership options, banking options, etc.) (need = help, identified through body language)

You have been dealing with an upset customer over the phone. The customer seemed happy but after hanging up you feel like they may not be 100% satisfied (need = further follow up, identified through your intuition)

A regular customer always wants to talk. He is always cheerful, uses open gestures, smiles yet needs nothing specifically. He asks you a lot of questions and is eager to share personally relevant information about himself (need = value as a person, identified by the body language, tone of voice AND words)

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

The key to communication is simple, clear, positive and enthusiastic. Customers choose to use your business because they have needs (I.e., they need an answer, information, support or advice, someone to talk to, a way of increasing their physical activity, a pass or membership, financial security, etc.). You find out what a customer needs by asking and then actively listening to their response. Your goal is to understand three things:

What they want

When they want it

How they plan to use it

Customers are not always able to articulate what they need. By asking key questions and probing for more information you can define their need.

Remember, ALL customers need to feel valued.

CHALLENGES

1. WHAT GETS IN THE WAY OF YOUR ABILITY TO ACTIVELY LISTEN? IDENTIFY ONE COMMON BARRIER AND CREATE AN ACTION STRATEGY TO ELIMINATE OR REDUCE IT.

2. HOW CAN YOU SHOW VALUE?

Once you have accurately assessed a customer’s needs, your next step in the process of engagement is to efficiently and effectively MEET their needs. This means doing it right AND doing the right thing. This includes:

Knowledge of your products and services. This requires knowledge beyond your department to focus on identifying what your business products or services are (features) and how the product or service will assist the customer in enjoying value (benefits). Knowledge is key to recognizing and seizing opportunities to cross sell additional programs/services or value-sell related programs/services, both techniques to add increased value to your customer. Remember, the goal is to meet the customer’s need. When we engage in cross selling and value selling techniques we are trying to suggest additional or complementary products/services that the customer will want or need. We are not pushing products. When done effectively, both the customer and the business win.

Problem solving and decision-making. Customers desire their need to be addressed as quickly as possible. The more people or time it takes, the greater chance of dissatisfaction. Do you have the skills, desire, knowledge and opportunity to solve problems and make decisions at the first point of contact with the customer? If the answer is “no”, consider the following questions and strategies within your department:

Do you require additional training and understanding of the products and services your business offers? What can you do to make this happen?

Do you want to solve problems and make decisions on the spot?

Do you require support in understanding policies and guidelines and the kinds of creative alternatives you have to choose from?

AT ALL POINTS OF CONTACT WITH CUSTOMERS WE NEED A WHAT CAN I DO ATTITUDE

Dealing effectively with customer complaints. Complaints are opportunities for us to learn what our customers expect from us (their perceptions), what is not working with our products/services/processes, etc. Those who complain are likely telling us what many may have experienced but never verbalized. We meet needs that come to us in the form of complaints by actively listening, identifying what we can do to resolve their problem (if we ask them we can assure our resolution actually provides value) and following up on what we promise. Take this one step further and share your learning – what was the problem and why was it a problem? If we don’t know about problems we can’t make proactive changes.

Finally, we need to recognize that customers have both tangible and intangible needs. It is our ability to recognize and meet the INTANGIBLE need, which creates real value for the customer. Think of intangible needs as customer motives. We are all humans and desire engagement at the human, versus business, level. Here are some examples of intangible needs:

Staff who are understanding, knowledgeable and helpful

Feeling safe

Feeling important (personally valued)

Social opportunities and interaction

Self-esteem

Acknowledgment of urgency

CHALLENGE:

HOW CAN YOU CREATE VALUE WHEN MEETING NEEDS?

Buying a Safe For Securing Your Valuables

Buying a safe is a really good choice for those who own goods that are easily transportable, like jewelry, a collection of coins, furs luxury or digital camcorders, as they are easy to take for thieves. Experienced thieves know where to look to find these objects, so it's a safe bet to say that your favorite hiding place might not be as safe as you think. A bank safe is certainly the most secure place where you can put your valuables, but they tend to be too small and are only capable of containing small objects.

Personal safes are another option. Before buying a safe, make sure you understand the different levels of protection. In Europe the standard used is the European standard anti-theft EN 1143-1. This standard determinates the resistance of a safe from the fire, and the amount normally covered by insurance in case of theft or damage:

– Class 0: Insurance 8 000 EUR
– Class 1: Insurance of 25 000 EUR
– Class 2: Insurance of 35 000 EUR
– Class 3: Insurance 55 000 EUR
– Class 4: Insurance 110 000 EUR
– Class 5: Insurance 200 000 EUR
– Class 6: Insurance 300 000 EUR

The higher a class is and the more the walls and the system locks are secure. These amounts for reimbursements of insurance depends on your contract and are indicative.

Typically, the class 1 to 3 are sufficient to effectively protect irreplaceable documents. There are very specialized safes to protect digital storage media or computer hard drives. A good safe will also protect against the collapse of a building.

Safes are usually firmly attached to the structure of your house. They are typically a lot smaller than conventional safes, but they are also a lot more expensive. Because they are small, they can potentially be dropped from a thin wall and removed by a thief so that he can force him later. Therefore, if you are considering buying a safe mounting, you should take one that can be secured by embedding in a wall or a floor of masonry.

Safes combination, which are often shown on television, are popular choices. These safes are made in two parts: a sturdy safe jewel within an equally strong fireproof safe. They have a thick metal door and walls of the same ilk, with a combination lock. They can be locked to the ground or embedded, to be sure that a thief can not prevail.

Some of the Best Horror Films of the Past Decade

When it comes to scary movies, there has been something of a revival in Hollywood in recent years. Horror movies are cheap to make and tend to do well at the box office. Most of these films are not very good, however. But there have been some great ones in recent years.

Here are some of my favorite horror films in recent years.

While most of the Saw movies have been lackluster and the franchise has become a cash cow, the original Saw is definitely worth seeing. Aside from the fact that it is scary and cringe inducing, it has a great plot and twists that would surprise any movie fan.

The Ring is another movie that has a brilliant plot. If you do not like horror movies, do not see The Ring. If you are looking for a good scary movie to watch, however, The Ring will not disappoint. It does not hurt that Naomi Watts is in it either.

A film that may not have gotten great reviews (as few horror movies do) but I still found very scary and had me thinking was "Quarantine." Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter plays the lead in this one and does a great job of making the viewer believe that she is terrified.

Of course, an instant classic horror movie was The Blair Witch Project. I remember seeing this film in the theaters a few days before going on a camping trip, which was a big, big mistake. This movie was revolutionary for its first-person camera angle, and the whole thing was shot on a video camera.

A more recent horror film that was excellent is "Let The Right One In" which chronicles a vampire girl who befriends a normal boy. The boy is often bullied, but all that changes when he meets his vampire neighbor Eli, who takes care of business.

These are just some of the great horror films to be released recently. More to come soon.
