Radiators Keep Your House Warm In The Winter

Radiators are heat switching devices that help keep an area warm during the cold winter. They heat up a given space by transferring thermal energy from one medium to another.

How Does Radiator Heating Work

In a radiator, electrically heated water travels through metal pipes placed within walls and ceilings. By the process of convection heating, this heated water in turn produces heat. Water is heated in a central boiler which is circulated through a building by pumps through a radiator.

Radiators may be of a single pipe type or a double pipe one. The single pipe ones work on steam while the double pipe ones work either on steam or water.

Types Of Radiators

Radiators have been around for quite some time. Over the years, various kinds have evolved bring in a variety of designs to suit modern homes.

* Compact radiators are perfect for small rooms. They come with factory fitted top grills and end panels.

* Steel panel convector heaters involve low maintenance and installation costs. They are compact in size and come with or without the top grill. They can be as small as 11 square inches. The electro zinc plating and powder coating build resistance against humid conditions.

* Towel radiators, better known as bathroom radiators, are electric driven and can be set up separate from the central heating system. They bring in the comfort of having warm towels in the bathroom. They come in various designs and often become an object of attraction.

* Low surface temperature radiators were initially designed to prevent burns. They were first introduced in health care centers. Nowadays, they have become quite popular for rooms of children and the elderly. The temperature in a low surface temperature radiator does not go beyond 1.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

* Storage radiators are excellent energy conserving radiators and prove to be cost effective. They store energy during the night time when electricity demand is low. The stored energy is then discharged during the day.

* Tubular radiators are sleek and stylish and designed for modern homes. They come in various colors and can match the décor of every interior. Buyers have the freedom to choose the shape, color and finish as per their house's design.

* Cast iron radiators may look bulky and can take up considerable amount of space. They, however, have their own set of advantages. These can be painted to suit the color of the rest of the home's design. Moreover, the paint helps to control the heat generated. Heat resistant paints are also available for this purpose. The cast iron radiators are driven by hot water or steam. Although electric versions exist, they may not be the best choice for large spaces.

When winter sets in, the chill can penetrate right into the bones. In such weather, the best cozy place that one can think of would be home, sweet home. Setting up an efficient radiator at home can make this all the more comfortable. It is not possible to have fireplaces in all homes now-a-days, but it is definitely possible to have radiators. Select the best one for your home and enjoy a warm and happy winter.

What's Your Decorating Style?

Everyone has their own decorating style, yours will be different from mine, and your sister's will be different from yours …

It is very important to truly understand your own decorating style, before you make any decisions regarding your hardwood floor purchase.

The best way to find out what your design style is, is to look around you. If you are just starting out in life and do not own any furniture; you are just out of collage and have no idea what you like … take a good look in your closet.

Your favorite pieces will tell a story, will guide you in the right direction. If you have been around for a while, and over a years had a chance to collect different furniture pieces, they will also tell you what you like and where to go from there.

You may have an eclectic style that started with some of your grandmother's pieces, you added to them over time to complement them and to, form your own decorating style. You may discover that you like the rustic feel of the wide plank pine floor, with it's own build in beauty, showcasing the deep, dark knots, that give it fabulous character.

Or you may love the stream-lined style of modern design, at home with spectacular, smooth maple floors, that look seamless and elegant.

Then there are the traditional, sophisticated and rich dark tones of majestic oak floor, with just the right amount of grain interwoven through each board. Here you may find gleaming dinning room tables and Persian area rugs, with tailor drapery framing the windows.

If you like the traditional style, but are a bit more boring in life, you may love hardwood similar to oak, but with a lot more grain and character, incredible beauty of ash will work with your style.

No matter what your own style is, you should know it, before you start making any decisions regarding your new hardwood flooring choices.

You see, the choice that you make here will become one of the major parts of your decorating scheme. If all your furniture are shaker style or traditional country, they will be out of place on a modern, seamless maple.

If you own high lacquered, sophisticated pieces it will be a mistake to showcase them on the wide plank, knotted pine. If you are sure of what your decorating style is, your choice of hardwood will work not only with the furniture that you already own, but also with those, that you will acquire in the future.

One other aspect of choosing your hardwood floor process that must be considered along with the decorating style is your lifestyle, or in other words, you need to look into your families, activities, their habits, and their favorite locations within the house.

Only then your decision will be the right one.

Does Your Fireplace Make Your House Warmer Or Colder

When you see the picture of the perfect American living room in a home, there’s a cozy room with a couch, recliner and a fireplace burning beautifully. People love to sit by the fireplace watching the flames encircling the logs. Not only does the fireplace add warmth but it adds atmosphere. Unfortunately a fireplace in a home is not perfect. There are many issues that make a fireplace very inefficient.

When a fireplace is burning, it radiates warmth into the air around it. But it also creates a current that actually pulls that air out of your room and up through the chimney. So basically warm air is escaping and your fireplace has to work even harder to warm your room. Yes, there is a damper on a chimney that supposedly keeps the inside air from escaping and the outside air from coming in. But most are not constructed very well and the seal around the edges of the damper still allows air to escape.

There are some things you can do to fix this problem. There is a damper that you can buy which is installed at the top of the chimney. This damper acts like a storm door and has a seal so that the air cannot sneak around it. You can get such a product online and you can install it yourself if you’re comfortable going on top of your roof.

Another option you have is to change your wood burning fireplace into a gas fireplace. You can get a gas fireplace insert which can look just like a regular wood burning fireplace. These heaters have artificial logs that look just like they’re burning. Depending on your home construction and budget, you have several options on how to install and vent the fireplace. Most gas fireplaces use propane or natural gas sources. Many homeowners go with this type of change because they get tired of having to keep cut wood around and disposing of the ashes. A gas fireplace eliminates that need.

You can also replace your fireplace with an electric heater. There are portable electric heaters that look just like fireplaces. You can get an electric fireplace heater that has a fan which can very efficiently heat a whole room quickly. Electric heaters are very efficient in the way that they heat a room. 100% of the electricity that is used is turned into heat and put back out into the room.

Another inconvenience is that the fireplace is usually in the room with the thermostat. The room with the fireplace becomes very warm and the thermostat turns off the heat. This makes rooms in the rest of the home cooler because the fireplace is not heating them. This may cause you to look into getting a portable space heater for other rooms in your home.

Hotel Ambiance – What is Essential is Invisible to the Eye

We define ambiance as the mood or the atmosphere that we encounter in a particular place at a particular instance of time. Ambiance, in this context, is a very important aspect of the hotel experience. It’s not really something guests see, but rather something that is felt, something that is experienced.

Without ambiance, hotels will simply be buildings with a bunch of rooms for lodging-and nothing more. Ambiance helps transform the hotel from a building with accommodations to a home away from home, an establishment where guests can be alive and well. Ambiance is the hotel’s character, important both for the hotel’s own mark as well as for the enjoyment of its many patrons.

Take the Gravetye Manor Hotel, for example. It is perhaps one of the most ambiance-filled hotels ever. This garden hotel located in England may not be the most flamboyant and spectacular hotels in the world, but it is filled with an inherent beauty and character afforded by the garden, the hotel’s stone construction, and a remarkable view of the surrounding English countryside. Its unchanging composition makes travelers come back for more.

Another excellent example is the roof of the Lebua at State Tower, located at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. With its breathtaking perspective overlooking the sprawling Bangkok cityscape, it’s no wonder many voted it one of the most ambient hotels in Asia.

See, the thing about ambiance is that one hotel doesn’t have to be located anywhere in particular just to simulate an atmosphere. Sure, being surrounded by lush groves and a rustic setting helps create a particularly relaxing mood, but it takes more than location to pull it off.

When it comes to creating that perfect atmosphere, well-appointed rooms that complement the hotel’s desired theme or character are always a big plus. Every tiny little detail should be able to work with every other detail as well as the environment, in order to create a unified mood that meshes together perfectly to achieve the desired result.

Sometimes it’s all about getting all things perfectly matched. From the food to the furnishings to the music played in the dining hall, these details all help create a unique ambiance. Lighting, of course, has a big effect on the ambiance. Even the decorations on the doors and the intricate tapestries adorning the walls play a significant role in establishing a mood inside the hotel.

People look for ambiance practically everywhere, from where they will be sitting at lunchtime to where they will be drinking their venti caramel frappuccino when the night comes. Atmosphere is everything-well, maybe not everything, but it sure is a very big something-especially when it comes to choosing hotels. Getting that particular mood just right helps establish the character of the hotel, and it is this defining characteristic that will help make guests book at the hotel more than once. Great ambiance translates to happy clients, and having that down pat means the hotel is well on its way to success.

Nursing School Requirements for Prospective Nursing Students

Nurses, at every level, are in higher-demand than ever before. In fact, by 2018, there will be a need for more than a half a million new nurses. Interacting with and caring for patients in a hospital, nursing home or doctor’s office setting is both a fulfilling and lucrative career choice. Are you interested in a nursing career, but don’t know where to start? Let’s take a look at nursing school requirements, from the LPN to MSN degree level, and the credentials you need to succeed in the nursing field.

LPNs or licensed practical nurses care for patients in a variety of healthcare settings. LPNs often work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and residence facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living homes. Primary responsibilities include: measuring and recording vital signs, preparing and administering medication, and monitoring and maintaining patient records.

Nursing school requirements for LPNs are typically one to two-year programs. LPNs have the option of earning licensure through a state-approved one year program. These training programs are offered through technical schools or community colleges. One year LPN training programs are also offered through many hospitals and colleges or universities. Many LPNS choose to earn their Associate’s of Science in Nursing. The ASN degree is a two-year program that prepares prospective nursing candidates for a career as a LPN.

Whether you choose to pursue licensure through a one or two-year tract, all LPN program graduates are required to take a national nursing licensure test, commonly referred to as the NCLEX-PN. After successfully passing the NCLEX-PN (practical nurse), program graduates can begin their career as a LPN.

RN’s or registered nurses are a step above LPNs in the nursing ladder and are generally given a greater range of clinical responsibilities. The responsibilities of RNs are broad and varied and often include: treating and educating patients and families, administering medication and treatments, and assisting with patient follow-up and necessary rehabilitation.

The two most common ways for students to become registered nurses are through an Associates of Science in nursing or Bachelor of Science in nursing degree program. The ASN degree typically takes students 2 years to complete while the BSN is a 4-year program. The ASN and BSN degree programs prepare nursing candidates to take the state licensure exam or the NCLEX-RN (registered nurse). LPNs and RNs who have already completed their ASN degree often enroll in BSN programs in order to obtain a higher level credential and be eligible for the NCLEX-RN exam. Earning an RN designation qualifies nurses for a higher salary.

Nurses who earn an MSN degree are at the highest tier of the nursing ladder. Both LPNs and RNs are eligible to earn an MSN degree. LPNs and RNs who have earned their ASN degree may enroll in an accelerated ASN to MSN degree program. This degree program typically takes 3 to 4 years to complete and graduates are awarded both a BSN and MSN degree. RNs who have earned their BSN degree may enroll in the BSN to MSN degree program. This program typically takes 1 and a half to 2 years to complete. Upon completion, RN’s will be awarded with an MSN degree.

Earning an MSN degree gives nurses the opportunities to not only specialize, but also to earn a substantially larger salary. Nurses who have earned the MSN degree are eligible to work as acute or critical care clinical specialist, family nurse practitioners, and in various other nursing specialties.

Nursing school requirements are different for every level of nursing. Earning your LPN licensure or an Associates of Science in nursing degree is a great way to start your nursing career. Earning a BSN or graduating from an accelerated MSN program will give you enhanced credentials and the chance to earn a higher salary. If you’ve always been interested in a nursing career, check out the nursing school requirements for your state, and get started on the path towards a rewarding career in nursing.

Are Contractors Crooks

To bring this into the light of scrutiny without over-dramatizing it, we need to first understand the general business model. We sell an item or a service and anything above our expenses is called “profit”.

The profit or loss margin on a tangible item is much easier to calculate than on a service performed. We all know that if we go to a store and a bottle of soda costs us three dollars, we’re getting ripped off. However, if we get a bid from a contractor to replace a floor, for example, most of us have no idea what a fair price is.

Contractors rely on this ignorance and they constantly overcharge homeowners on labor performed. As a matter of fact, they are setting new standards for labor costs just by being dishonest. As consumers, we pay a certain amount for things, but if a product rises sharply in price, we notice and complain about it. If that product stays at a high price long enough, the consumers gradually accept it and stop complaining about it.

This is true not only in the housing industry, but in all industries as well. Think about how much we pay for insurance. An insurance agent has a profit margin that depends entirely on overcharging customers. As in all businesses, this is a very undefined area, so business people just charge according to how much people will pay. Many business owners believe that if a customer will willingly pay the price, then it’s a fair price.

In our modern world of easy finance, consumers are so quick to buy homes, that they aren’t paying any attention to rising labor costs that are ridiculous. They only see a monthly payment amount that they can or cannot comfortably pay.

So, in response to the question, “are contractors crooks?” The answer is absolutely. On average most contractors overcharge their clients. But this is true in almost every aspect of the business world.

The way we can make sure we aren’t getting overcharged from contractors is by doing all the work ourselves. It’s the best way to save well over half the cost of the home. I help people do this all the time.

There are many books and websites that make the claim that homeowners can save around forty percent on labor costs by being their own General Contractors and hiring sub-contractors to do the work. I have never seen this successfully work in all my years of building homes.

The problem is that if the homeowner isn’t well versed in contractor job costing, he or she will probably be taken advantage of by sub-contractors. The subs will steal the homeowner’s equity by over-bidding labor costs and usually materials as well.

Once the homes are finished, the homeowners that do the entire general contracting themselves are usually disappointed with the results in terms of money saved on labor costs. Best-case scenarios that I’ve seen, the homeowner has saved up to twenty percent, but that is rare. In the worst cases, I have seen the subs steal so much equity that the homeowner has to borrow more money to finish the home. That’s unfortunate because a great deal of time is involved in being a general contractor and if you have done a lot of work without a payoff, the whole event will be a big negative in your life.

I have recently seen several over budget projects from homeowners who have bought a book or certain house plans that have made ridiculous claims to save construction costs by doing all your own general contracting. The books raise false hopes. The authors of these books are usually one-time homebuilders that have a list of do’s and don’ts.

The problem is that if the authors of those books have made costly mistakes as general contractors, their own plan didn’t work for them either. They always say, “Avoid costly mistakes” but new homeowners that lack experience are going to make many costly mistakes no matter what.

The real damage done in these cases is not the wasted money on the book or plan, but the wasted time and money on the part of gullible homeowners.

That’s why I believe that do-it-yourself homebuilders need to literally do-it-themselves. If they are doing all their own labor, they won’t get ripped-off. The price of materials will be the only numbers they have to worry about.

Building a house by yourself is definitely not for everybody though. I truly believe that we as humans are self-defeating and self under-estimating. We can do just about anything we believe in, but therein lies the problem. Once we stop believing in ourselves, we find limits where they shouldn’t exist.

Building our own homes strengthens our self-esteem. Once we start tearing down boundaries and limitations in our lives, the momentum keeps going and helps us become successful in other aspects of life.

Make Halloween Outdoor Decorations: "Ring of Ghosts" and "Flagpole Spooks"

Here’s a favorite tradition of our family in outdoor Halloween decor:

Materials: 3 Twin-sized Sheets 3 Four foot lengths of flexible 1/2 inch PVC Piping, Wooden Stakes or Dowels 3 Small White Plastic Garbage Bags Masking Tape Newspaper String or Twist Ties Black Marker (optional)

Instructions: 1. First, determine a good location for your ghost gathering. Find a wide open area, or you may decide to group them around a tree or light pole.

2. To make the ghosts’ heads, crumple up newspaper and stuff the three small plastic trash bags to the desired size.

3. Stick one of the PVC pipes into one of the bags and wrap the neck with masking tape to secure. Repeat for the other ghosts.

5. Cover each ghost head with a sheet, gathering with string or a twist tie under each head. The head should be in the middle of the sheet, so the outer edges can be attached to the neighboring ghosts.

You can make taller or shorter ghosts, but you must adjust the size of sheet you use to accommodate. Our ghosts will be just under 4 feet tall.

4. Push the PVC piping into the ground in a circular formation about 1-2 feet apart. The sheets should touch the ground and cover up the support. You can also use wooden stakes or dowels, but your ghosts won’t have as much movement as they will with the PVC piping.

6. Finally, knot the ends of the sheets together to give the impression the ghosts are holding hands. Because the PVC is flexible, your ghosts will now bob and sway in the wind!

7. If desired, make Casper-like faces on the sheets with black marker.

We have 3 children, so we always make 3 ghosts, but you can connect as many ghosts as you wish!

They’ll look like they’re playing a spooky game of “ring-around-the-rosy”!

These spooky decorations are easy if you have an angled flagpole attached to the front of your house.

Scary Flagpole Ghost: Hang a “Scream” style mask off the end of the flagpole. Tie a white sheet or a generous length of white tulle around and behind the mask. This scary creature will appear to be flying as his white garment flutters in the wind.

Flagpole Frankenstein: Hang a Frankenstein mask off the end of the flagpole. Tie a dark colored trash bag tied behind it. Shredding the trash bag around the edges will add to the spooky effect.

Flagpole Witch: Hang a witch mask off the end of the flagpole. Attach a witch hat to the mask, then tie a dark colored trash bag tied behind it. Shred the trash bag to make the witch’s robe flap in the wind.

Shop Drawings Constitute a Significant Aspect of Workshop Fabrication

Are you looking for shop drawings or installation diagrams for workshop fabrication? Opt for a leading BIM service provider and get automated shop drawings from the HVAC models. However, before hiring a company, check out whether the diagrams are created as per the project standards and facilitating the suppliers, contractors, manufacturers and fabricators at the time of construction. If required, look at the various MEP shop drawing samples like the penetration sketches, insert layout sketches, sleeve drawings and spool drawings. Moreover, check whether the diagrams produced by the company can be downloaded directly in the GPS instrument on site for the creation of accurate layout.

Let’s explore the various MEP shop drawings:

Installation Drawings – Installation sketches are often required for mechanical services of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, piping and medical gas system. They help the contractions to execute, plan and install mechanical systems effectively, saving a lot of cash and time. Mechanical BIM services provide layouts in reference to architectural and structural specifications of clients and help them locate mechanical members easily.

Block-Out Drawings – Block-out diagrams also form a significant part of MEP shop drawings as they provide illustrations before pouring concrete on site. These sketches are often aligned with architectural grids. Expert Mechanical BIM service provider keeps necessary block-out clearance in accordance with the construction codes and contract documents and locate the openings accurately by the dimension of the real grid lines.

Sleeve, Insert & Hanger Diagrams – Sleeve, Insert and Hanger diagrams are important before concrete pouring and they are also aligned with architectural grids. These BIM based illustrations help to coordinate reviews and check interference with structural elements of the construction. The accurate positions of the sleeve and hanger assist the structural and civil construction team before plumbing installation.

Spool Drawings – Spool diagrams for pipes help the plumbers to understand the way of proceeding their work. These illustrations facilitate in making accurate pre-fabrication both on-site and off-site. So why are you waiting for? Get segmented spool diagrams generated as per your pre-fabricated standards and preference.

Equipment Detailing & Pad Layout – Diagrams showing the Sections and Isometric of mechanical equipment detail are required for installation of HVAC equipment from approved submittals in specific location. Get these illustrations created by an expert BIM service provider and coordinate effectively for seamless construction workflow.

Search for one of the best mechanical BIM service providers and prepare your coordination drawings with color codes for easy removal of clashes. Furthermore, you may need to create sheet metal illustration for duct fabricator as per SMACNA codes. Whatever may be your criteria or standards regarding insulation thickness and essential linings for your HVAC duct system, let the mechanical shop drawing service provider know about it and ensure seamless coordination between sprinklers and mechanical piping. Before you ask for producing mechanical shop drawings, consider the drop ceiling level as well as the beam height. If necessary, also revise the sketches in accordance to the site survey notes.

Why a G-10 Handle For Your Knife?

Knife handles have many qualities that are important to how they function under the conditions in which they are used. Every variety of handle material has its high points and disadvantages. It is imperative for safety and ease of use that the handle of a knife is easy to grip without it slipping, and strong enough to withstand the punishment necessary to get the job done. For this reason G-10 is used in the making of many types and brands of knife handles.

G-10 is a highly durable material commonly used in the making of top quality knife handles. It is especially popular in the making of tactical folding knives, hunting knives, and survival knives. G-10 is used because it is strong, lightweight, virtually moisture and climate resistant, and doesn’t shrink. It has high impact strength, and resists cracking even when exposed to the most extreme temperatures and conditions.

G-10 is a heat retardant, electrical grade laminate created by layering fiberglass cloth and industrial grade resin. The material is then heated and compressed to bind the layers. First introduced in the mid 1950’s the scientifically manufactured substance has also been used in aerospace and underwater applications. Because it is so versatile G-10, and variations of it, serve well in making insulation for extremely high and low temperature electrical and medical equipment.

There are two other forms of G-10 that I would like to mention. The first of which is FR4, a fire retardant version of the original fiberglass and resin version of G-10. This is commonly known as Garolite. FR4 can be used in place of G-10 adding more protection to the components made with it, and has applications in a wide variety of mechanical insulation and electrical manufacturing processes.

The other variation of G-10 is a material called Micarta which is made just like G-10, except linen cloth is used in place of fiberglass. Micarta is light, durable, and does not have a surface texture of its own. It is smooth to the touch and it has a more elegant look than G-10, but can be scratched if not properly taken care of. This material is also very common in knife handle manufacturing. Unlike regular G-10 or FR4, Micarta requires some work be done by hand, and for that reason can sometimes increase the price of a better quality knife.

The original G-10 material most often comes in black but is also available in different colors; such as blue, green, orange, and tiger stripped to name a few. There is also a process where knife makers laminate mother of pearl, or other decorative materials to G-10 to create ornamental scales on the surface of the knife handle. Waterproof and chemical resistant the layering process used to make G-10 gives it a unique look when ground and polished. G-10 is most often textured with a checking pattern that really adds to its aesthetic appeal, but there are other gripping surfaces to choose from. The checking pattern seems to be a knife enthusiast favorite because of its gripping strength, and comfort.

So if you are looking for a top quality handle on the knives you use for work and recreation, available in many different colors and brand names, then G-10 may be the right fit for you. You will find G-10 used to make almost every style of knife you need including tactical folders, folding knives, fixed blade knives, hunting knives, survival knives, and utility knives. All the benefits of the G-10 handle make it a sound decision every time you shop for a knife.

Planning a Truss Roof Loft Conversion? Let Telebeam Take the Strain

The Telebeam system is a revolutionary new way of organising the conversion of a truss (or trussed rafter) roof into a usable space. Not only will this method of loft conversion give you an extra room, or rooms, but it will also add value to your house.

Traditional methods of converting a trussed rafter roof involve replacing the ‘W’ sections of trusses with steel joists which usually run between load bearing gable walls. New vertical supporting timbers and floor joists are then run from these steel joists to support the existing roof before the internal trusses is removed.

Once the additional supports are in place the ‘W’ sections of roof trusses are almost totally removed. The roof trusses at the apex are usually retained in a much shortened state because they have to carry the new horizontal ceiling joists forming the new flat area of ceiling, as well as the regulation insulation materials.

As you can imagine, installing lengthy steel joists into a roof that is already ‘full’ of supporting trusses is the trickiest part. Either a section of one gable end is temporarily removed to allow the steel to be inserted longitudinally, or areas of the roof tiles are removed and the steel joists are inserted in sections and then bolted together when in place.

The Telebeam system does away with the need to insert substantial load-bearing steel joists by retaining the load bearing triangulation, eave to eave, rather than between load bearing walls. With Telebeam only the three lowest rows of roof tiles need to be removed temporarily. Then the roofing felt is turned back to allow the telescopic beams to be slid in alongside the current floor joists, attaching to the wall plates either side. As their name suggests, the TeleBeams are telescopic and adjust to the span of the building. They do not rely on any internal support and work for any roof pitch.

The vertical stud walls at the edge of the new room transfer the roof load down onto the Telebeam system and the original horizontal wooden joists take the horizontal (spreading) load. The ‘W’ sections of roof trusses are now redundant and most of them can be removed, retaining the roof trusses at the apex to carry the new ceiling collar as before. The new floor can then be fixed directly to the Telebeam system, insulation can be added underfloor, between the rafters and within the new ceiling, and the rafters, ceiling and stud walls can be boarded over and a plastered finish applied.

TeleBeam systems are available in spans up to 8.4 metres so they are ideal for almost any size of roof.

Advantages of the TeleBeam system:

a) Incorporates roof and floor support in one LABC (Local area building control) approved system.

b) Minimises loft conversion costs – the TeleBeam system costs about £5,000 + vat for a 2/3 bedroom house (the installation is not included in this figure).

c) Maximises available headroom.

d) Available in spans of 5.8, 6.2, 7.0, 7.8 and 8.4 metres.

e) No additional timber floor joists are required.

f) Beams slide into the roof space by removing just three rows of tiles from one side of the house.

g) Reduced scaffolding/access costs.

h) Telescopic beams fit most buildings and roof pitches.

i) No specialist installation skills or tools are required.

j) Easy to follow, step-by-step instructions.

Numerology’s Birth Chart and Missing Numbers – Things Lacking in Your Life

Ever wander why two people with the same Life Path number, or Astrology sign can be so different? In Numerology, part of the explanation is that your Life Path is made up of different combinations of numbers in your date of Birth. And the greatest difference occurs when you have numbers which are missing; indicating things you need to work on in your life.

Everyone has some missing numbers in their Birth chart; with a Gregorian birth date of eight digits, you’ll always have at least one number missing. Missing numbers don’t point to some fatal flaw; rather they show us areas we need to improve in. These are the aspects that give flavor to your personality; that color your life.

Determining your Missing Numbers

Your missing birth chart numbers are those digits, (1) through (9) which are not used in your full Gregorian date of birth. For example Johnny Depp was born on June 9th, 1963, so charting his birth date, we get:

06/09/1963 = (1)(-)(3)(-)(-)(66)(-)(-)(99) (missing digits: 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8)

So, Johnny Depp has (5) different missing numbers on his birth chart.

(Missing 1)

You need to work on your confidence and drive. Learn to take the lead in your relationships and not be shoved into the background by others. Work on your self-image.

(Missing 2)

You need to become more sensitive to the needs of others. Learn to trust your intuition about other people. You need to be more open to cooperation with those around you.

(Missing 3)

Secrets To Keeping Your Car Looking Like New For 10 Years

Most personal finance experts would agree that keeping your vehicle for up to 10 years is a good economical decision. The economics of keeping a vehicle that long are overwhelmingly convincing. So why is it so rare to find someone who owns the same car that long? After all, today most cars will keep working long after a couple hundred thousand miles. So, why do people keep buying a new car when there is nothing wrong with the one they have? Peer pressure? Maybe it looks out of date? This might be true, especially when the new edition undergoes major styling changes. Maybe it is because people start worrying about the likelihood of a major mechanical problem.

We have found that if you can keep it looking new through a proven strategy it will be much more difficult to make that new car purchase. So what can be done to slow down the aging process? How can a car be used on a regular basis and not age. There is no one particular activity, but rather several things that contribute to a common goal. The following is a list of ways to keep the appearance of your car looking like new.

1. By far, the number one way to keep your vehicle looking like new is to KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE AT NIGHT. Most people think the damage results from the grueling midday heat and dust that bake the dirt into the paint and plastic, however, the most destructive time is at night, when the cool moisture condensates on the surface of the car. This is the source of the problem. We live in a basin here in Los Angeles which is packed with automobiles moving about all day. The exhaust, pollution and road grime, rise up into the atmosphere during the hot days and are suspended there until the cool sea air moves in and captures the pollution in the moisture that will condensate on the car. That morning dew sitting on the horizontal surfaces of the vehicle is a sulfur /acidy toxic cocktail of all the junk in our air. It eats into the paint, the trim around the doors, yellows headlights and destroys the rubber parts. No test lab can recreate that! The moisture is not horribly bad, but if this process is done every night for 5 to 8 years, it will take its toll on the exterior.

2. Keep the vehicle under an overhang at night. The next best thing to a garage would be to keep the vehicle from getting dew on it at night. Reread the reason in the paragraph above. The next best long term protection is the overhang. (Car covers are helpful when the vehicle will sit at the airport for 2 weeks or in your driveway for a week. As a daily defense, it is a good idea, but with time it is a hassle as well as too dirty to put on the car. )

3. Regular waxing. Regular waxing is every 3 to 4 months or every 5,000 miles. So by the time your vehicle has 20,000 miles on it, it should have 4 coats of wax. Waxing gives the car a micro thin layer of protection from the elements. As the vehicle gets older, the attention to the exterior should increase. Occasionally, the paint should be polished to restore clarity to the surface. Polishing the paint every 1 1/2 years or ever 15,000 miles will increase the life of the wax, and maintain the paint in top condition.

4. Regular washes on the exterior will keep the vehicle free of dust and contaminants. The longer dirt and dust sit on the paint, the more likely it will start to adhere to the surface.

5. Paint protection film by 3M is the best way to keep the paint rock chip free. By applying this film to the bumper and hood, it will defend the original vehicle paint from damage. This film is removable and does not have any long term effect to the paint. Conceivably, this film could be removed in 10 years after installation, and the paint would look like the day it came off the assembly line. Truly the best long term solution for the everyday driver.

6. Window tint. Protect the interior from fading and drying out with a lifetime warranty film. During the day, the vehicles interior is vulnerable to the harmful effects of the suns UV Rays. Window tint blocks out 100% of the ultraviolet rays. It also reduces the internal heat and cuts down on glare. With regular interior detailing and window tint, the interior will look like the day it was installed. Also, window tint improves the comfort of the passenger and drivers.

7. Biannual cleaning of the motor will ensure proper visibility of fluid levels. It can improve preventative maintenance inspection and keeps the motor running cooler. Furthermore, mechanics respect a clean motor and are more likely to clean up after themselves.

8. Periodic removal of small door dings and dents. The cost of keeping your doors “ding” free is really reasonable and the process of Paintless Dent Removal is non invasive. It is impossible to keep a daily driver from eventually getting a door ding, but the good news is that they can be messaged out and restored to its original position. No painting or bondo is necessary and the vehicle maintains its original factory paint.

9. Deep cleaning Detail. Every 1.5 to 2 years the vehicle should get a complete detail. Most people will wait until the vehicle is so bad, something has to be done. For a potted plant, that is the equivalence of waiting until the leaves are turning brown before it gets watered.

10. Achieving a like new vehicle after 10 years will require preemptive or preventive care. Scheduled detailing appointments over a 1 year time period will help to keep the vehicle on track. The paint job cannot remind you it needs waxing. So do not wait until you notice the car getting a little shabby before you act. Lastly, the mechanical part of the vehicle is just as important. We strongly recommend the adherence to all schedule mechanical maintenance.

1031 Exchanges Work For Great Classic Car Investors

Classic cars have appreciated tremendously in value in recent days, and they are in high demand. Your first inclination may be to sell your car outright and cash in on your investment, but a look at the capital gains tax rates might change your mind.

Now is certainly a great time to cash in on the classic car you’ve been holding for investment, but a look at the tax rates on the sale of collectibles might put a damper on your enthusiasm; as much as 28% of your profits could end up going to capital gains taxes.

Imagine, for example, that you have a 1967 Ferrari that you bought for $270,000 but which has since appreciated in value to $800,000. At this point, you’re likely quite pleased with your investment. But you might balk at the 28 percent capital gains rate on the sale of this car, and you’d be right to do so, because a 1031 exchange could save you that 28 percent and let you reinvest that money instead of losing it to taxes.

First of all, you need to be aware that like-kind requirements on personal property are far stricter than those on real estate. When making a 1031 exchange on real estate, you can, for example, exchange an apartment building for a farm. When making an exchange on a collector car, you can only exchange it for another car, not for a crane or a piece of aircraft equipment. Also keep in mind that it is best to exchange for property of equal or greater value. If you downsize, you will not receive the greatest possible tax deferment.

1031 exchanges on personal property are conducted in much the same manner as real estate exchanges, but one important difference is that the like-kind requirements that must be met for the exchange to be valid are quite a bit more stringent. While a real estate investor can, for example, exchange an apartment building for farmland of equal or greater value, an investor dealing with personal property can only exchange a car for a car, a plane for a plane, and so on.

By making an exchange on your personal property instead of selling outright, you can avoid a huge hit to your returns and maximize your potential profits.
