What Every Homeowner Should Know About Carpet Cleaning Rentals

One of the most effective ways to keep your carpets in tip top shape is through the use of a carpet cleaning rental. If you don’t really know what I’m talking about, here’s a quick explanation. I’m referring to the Rug Doctors and Bissell machines that are available for rent at your local hardware store or supermarket. In Canada, the Rug Doctor is available for rent at almost every Safeway. The machines usually cost between $40 and $60 a day to rent. You definitely don’t need an entire day to clean your home though. An average size house will probably only take a couple of hours to do. The process is pretty straightforward as well. It basically involves pushing around a vacuum-like machine. The difference is though, that this vacuum uses a combination of water, cleaning solution, and vibrating brushes to deeply penetrate the dirt in your carpet.

Despite the fact that these rentals are cheap and effective, a lot of homeowners just can’t be bothered, believing that a weekly vacuuming will suffice. This is a big mistake. Vacuuming does a great job of picking up the dust and allergens that end up on the surface of your carpet, but it doesn’t go beyond that. You need a machine that digs deep into the roots of your carpet and eliminates these bugs right at the source. Now, the text that follows is by no means a complete guide. It should at least convince you that renting a carpet cleaner is the right thing to do though.

The most important reason for keeping your carpets in shape actually revolves around health. Most people think that carpets are nothing more than an ascetically pleasing and soft floor to walk on. This is all kinds of wrong though! The carpet actually plays an integral role regarding the quality of air in your home. Here’s how it works. Air comes in through the door every time you open it. With all the good stuff it brings in, it also brings in a lot of bad stuff. I’m referring to things like allergens and bacteria. Now, these little pests hang around in your home’s air for a while before eventually settling in your carpet. If your carpet is clean, this isn’t a big deal. The bugs end up stuck inside your carpet. This is a good thing as it means they are no longer in the air, being breathed by your family. Over time, the carpet gets dirty though. It’s ability to take on new allergens weakens so these little pests just stay in the air! Think about the way a filter stops working when it’s dirty. It’s essentially the same process… So how do you fix a dirty filter? Well, you clean it of course! The same can be said of your carpet. Keep it clean and the bacteria and dust mites won’t have a chance to infect the people living in your home.

If you can’t really be bothered to keep the allergens out of the air in your home, maybe money will motivate you. That right… keeping your carpets clean can actually save you money. You see, the carpet is a part of your home. It’s an investment that needs to be protected. If you let your carpet rot from the bottom up, you’ll eventually have to replace it entirely. This can be really expensive. Do yourself a favor and maintain the carpet that you have. You won’t regret it.

People who are buying homes always look the carpet as well. I know that when my wife and I were looking at places to buy, we always noticed a smelly, ugly carpet. It really turned us right off.

“No way in hell we’re buying that piece of crap home!”

The rest of it may have been really nice but we didn’t care because the carpet was so hideous. Keeping your carpet clean increases the value of your home.

So there are two solid reasons to consider an annual carpet cleaning rental – Health and money. Happy cleaning!

Advantages of Darker Color Carpets

Carpets are available in all types of colors in the market. There are lighter colors as well as darker ones. Lighter color carpets include colors of blue, light brown, golden etc while darker colors comprise of maroon, dark brown and all other darker shades of any color. All these types of carpets have their unique characteristics and all look beautiful and elegant when used with good creative decorative surroundings. Decorative surroundings include, the furniture, curtains and other decorative material which you like to put on the carpets. Among all these colors, people mostly use dark colors in carpets due to many reasons.

First of all a dark color piece of carpet does not get dirty much often as compared to a lighter color one. As it is dark in color, it mostly hides any stain which appears on its surface. No matter whether you drop a drop of ink or a bit of tea, a dark colored like brown would normally hide those stains. If you are deciding to buy a piece of carpet in a darker color make sure you buy a thick one too. This helps in absorbing any type of liquid which is spilt on it. Furthermore if you clean the liquid as soon as it is dropped on the carpet, it may not even leave a stain at all.

Another advantage of dark colored carpets is that such a color usually fits and looks good in any type of surroundings. As you are aware furniture is mostly available in darker colors too, so a darker carpet is the ideal combination for your particular room. It not a difficult task to find a dark colored carpets in your city. You just have to go to a good carpet shop and you will find a variety of carpets with different dark colors. Dark colored carpets are gaining more and more popularity due to the above mentioned reasons.

People are becoming aware that spending money on lighter colors is useless because such pieces will get dirty probably the next day and then they would have to spend their money on either getting it cleaned or buying a new one. Therefore if you go out to buy a piece of carpet, try to buy one which is dark in color. Later on you will eventually come to see that you have made the right choice by picking a dark color carpet.

Toenail Fungus Home Remedies Are Best For Killing Fungus

Also known as Onycomycosis, toenail fungus is very common almost in all countries. Nail infection is usually caused by fungal organisms underneath the nails. The nails that are infected with fungus may become discolored, thick, and brittle. The infection can be annoying to anyone when it shows symptoms of discolored look of the toenails. Gradually the infection may develop cramps and the nails may look ugly. You cannot cure the nail fungus overnight by any means. However, on noticing any symptoms of toenail fungus, you can use certain home remedies which will work effectively.

There are a bunch of other home remedies for toenail fungus. Do you know that you can also treat toenail fungus with henna? Here’s what you will do – get a bunch of henna leaves, make a paste out of the leaves and then put it over the surface of the affected nail. Henna has germicidal properties that kill fungal infection.

Banana can also reduce the growth of the fungus. Get a yellow-colored ripe banana and mash it together with neem water (neem water can be prepared by boiling neem leaves with one glass of water; wait for 15 to 20 minutes until the concoction becomes concentrated). Apply this on the affected area and then allow it to dry. Wait for an hour or so before washing it away.

Another good homemade remedy has something to do with tulsi juice. Tulsi juice is made by grinding tulsi leaves. Mix tulsi juice with lime juice and apply it on the affected nail morning and evening — this method not only cures the fungus but also makes your toes more beautiful.

The juice of an onion is also a good remedy for fungal infection. Slice an onion and rub it all over the affected toenail. This should get rid of the toenail fungus for good.

By and large the most effective of all home remedies to cure toenail fungus is turmeric powder. Make a paste of the powder and apply it on the affected nail two times a day. Applying turmeric powder regularly will soften your nail and take away the organisms. Turmeric also has the ability to cure foot cracks.

Advice and Tips on Repairing Your Car’s Upholstery

As an owner of a vintage car that has needed complete restoration, I know the value of do-it-yourself projects. By doing the car repairs or restorations yourself, you can save thousands of dollars. One of the most often needed repairs for vintage cars is the upholstery. Let me give you some easy tips for repairing it yourself. First of all, you should always clean the upholstery before starting any repair projects. Use an upholstery cleaner that is made specifically for the type of upholstery you have and always follow the manufacturers instructions to the letter. I prefer to spot test the cleaner in an out-of-the-way place just to be sure. You will be amazed at what a good cleaning can do for old upholstery! Sometimes it will reveal potential problem areas that you can repair before they become a big problem.

Repairing Leather upholstery tips:

If sewing or recovering the seat is not possible, you could try a leather repair kit that can be found at any automotive store. The kit will come with a plastic substance that you will tint to match as close to your car upholstery color as possible. You’ll have to apply it and then let it dry. I don’t recommend this for large areas. It is usually o.k. for small areas if the color is well matched. Black or White upholstery is the easiest to match.

Repairing Vinyl upholstery tips:

Don’t try using glue to repair your vinyl! It seems like an easy fix, but the adhesive in the glue can actually destroy the foam padding underneath the vinyl. You don’t want to create more problems! Instead, simply cut a patch of excess vinyl found under the seat and use adhesive specifically made for vinyl upholstery to patch it. Again, follow the adhesive manufacturers instructions carefully.

If it is just the piping around the seat that needs repair, use this simple trick: Take a match stick and remove the match. Add some contact cement to one end of the match and work it into the damaged area. Then apply the cement to the other end and work that end of the stick in. Fold it in as you go if necessary. Make sure you let the cement dry completely before using the seat.

Do some research ahead of time and see if this do it yourself project is something you think you can do. You don’t want that vintage muscle car looking awesome on the outside and old as dirt on the inside. With a little work you can get it in top notch shape!

How to Install Cabinet Light Rail Molding

So you want to know how to install your own kitchen under cabinet light rail molding. Do not attempt the installation unless you possess some basic carpentry skills. You will also need a few power and hand tools. Do not attempt this phase of your kitchen cabinet installation without having sufficient time. NO hand miter box cutting allowed! You must achieve the highest quality install possible.

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Chop Saw
  • Electric Drill
  • Three Clamps (I prefer Jorgensen Clamps)
  • Correct Length Screws
  • Countersink Bit
  • 1/16″ Pilot Hole Drill Bit
  • 3/16″ Drill Bit
  • Hand Screw-driver
  • Yellow Carpenters Glue
  • Matching Wood Putty Stick

One of the most popular questions people ask is; “should the molding be installed flush or recessed with the face of the cupboard?” I always recess the light rail no less than one eight (1/8″) of an inch. This just looks better than trying to get it perfectly flush with the face-frame. Keep in mind that the light rail should be flush with the end of the cabinet next to where a space-saver microwave gets installed.

Roughly measure the length of each piece of molding you will need and add four inches to each piece. Hopefully you thought to order plenty of extra in case you make a mistake. Cut all of the pieces you need over size first.

Now cut a few “small” practice miter pieces at forty five degrees. These should be used to double check that your corners on the cupboards are at true ninety degree angles.

Now, when you start cutting the actual molding pieces of light rail, only cut the angles on one piece at a time. The key to installing the molding correctly is in working out the accurate details one piece at a time and one miter joint at a time.

Prior to making your cuts, drill holes from the inside of the cupboard downward using the three sixteenths inch (3/16″) drill bit. Then, counter sink the holes from inside the cupboards. These are the holes that will secure the molding to the cabinetry.

The finished end pieces of molding will be attached to the cabinets with ¾” x 1″ X 8-1/2″ blocks. The blocks get fastened to the short return pieces of molding and then screwed to the cupboard from underneath. The reason for doing it this way is because you cannot fasten them from the inside of the cabinet.

Installing Kitchen Cabinet Light Rail:

  1. Decide which piece is best to install first (consider working largest to smallest)
  2. Make your cuts
  3. Apply yellow glue sparingly to the miter joints
  4. Clamp the piece in place using the Jorgensen clamps
  5. Drill the light rail through the counter sunk holes using the 1/16″ drill bit
  6. Secure the molding in place with screws
  7. Wipe off the access glue immediately with a damp cloth
  8. Repeat these steps on each light rail piece

The three sixteenths inch hole you drilled should be bigger than the screws you are installing the molding with. If you need to adjust the molding a little, loosen the screws with a hand screw-driver. Align the light rail accordingly and then secure it tightly into perfect position.

If you begin to get frustrated, take a break. This is tedious work. The joints on the kitchen cabinet light rail should be as tight as possible.

The final step of the installation process is filling the miter joints with the matching wood putty. Wipe off any excess putty with a dry rag.

Hiatal Hernia, Acid Reflux, GERD, Heartburn: The Causes And The Symptoms

Hiatal hernia can be caused by a number of things, often unique to each sufferer. One common cause, however, can be described as “mechanical”: that is, caused by lifting improperly, heavy bouts of coughing, attacks to the abdomen, tight clothes, or poor posture. Lifting a heavy item whilst holding your breath (which happens often amongst people not trained in proper lifting techniques) can force the stomach into the esophagus and cause a hiatal hernia.

Another common cause of hiatal hernia is to do with the ileocecal valve. This is situated between the small and large intestines. Its function is to allow material to pass from the large intestine into the colon, but not vice versa. The ileocecal valve can become swollen and irritated; this causes it not to close properly, and permit material to travel back into the small intestine from the colon.

Although it cannot be determined whether a faulty ileocecal valve or hiatal hernia occurred first, a problem with this valve is known to further aggravate a hiatal hernia. Diet is a major factor in this: overeating, eating when upset, and poor combination of food can lead to this condition.

Interestingly, as well as “eating when upset” as being a contributory factor, emotional stress in itself has been raised as a possible cause of hiatal hernia – particularly the emotion of anger. One theory states that when some people get angry, they breathe and suck air upward, and then fail to release it properly. This results in the stomach remaining up, and repeated instances causing a hiatal hernia.

The stomach is forced into the sphincter that is designed to stop acid or food returning into the mouth or throat. The sphincter does not close properly and its function is compromised. This allows acid to travel into the esophagus and cause burning sensations, also known as heartburn or acid reflux.

The condition can also cause stress to the vagus nerve. Its function is to control the release of hydrochloric acid. As it may not work properly, this can cause either too much or too little acid to be secreted.

The diaphragm muscle’s movement is impeded. Its function is to pull downward to cause the chest capacity to expand and fill the lungs with air. A hiatal hernia sufferer may find that their diaphragm muscle is affected to the degree that they experience shallow breathing unless they help the process consciously using their chest shoulders and take a deep breath.

The esophagus has been known to form a kink. This would then cause difficulty in swallowing. Sufferers may get the sensation that material is often stuck in their throat.

Through the vagus nerve, which has significant links to a number of other organs in the body, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, and even the external genitalia, imbalances can be spread throughout the patient’s body and other important systems.

Hiatal hernia sufferers often experience poor digestion. This leads onto rotten food staying in the body longer than it should be, and causing toxicity in the patient. Naturally, there is a lack of nutrition and the usual symptoms of this, such as constipation, allergies, and immune weakness.

Hiatal hernia can also aid the development of asthma and heart disease. As previously mentioned, the lungs’ capacity is affected. Intestinal gas can put pressure on the hernia and then the heart, and can in severe cases bring on a heart attack.

There are ways to treat a hiatal hernia and acid reflux naturally and safely. For more information visit: http://www.hiatalherniahelp.com

Above Ground Pools and How to Avoid Wasting Money on Kits

Above ground pools are normally made from kits that come in a large box and cost a lot of money. There is a much cheaper way to install a small above ground pool than by buying an expensive steel framed model that will eventually rust away – even if it is galvanized to start with. The other problem with above ground pools that are made from kits is that the filtration and water sanitation systems are nearly always sub-standard because most of the money is allocated to the steel framing and not to the care of the pool water. Simple above ground pools can be built in more or less any shape using 150 mm wide concrete blocks from your local builder’s merchant and waterproofed with a PVC liner and provided with a water treatment system that really works and ensures that children can use the pool without getting ill.

Such a pool can be square, round or octagonal. If the walls are about 4 feet or 1.2 metres high, the water depth can be 40 inches or about 1.0m. The concrete block walls will hold this height of water if they are propped externally by further concrete buttresses that are built at 2 metre intervals around the periphery of the pool. These buttresses need only be 40 inches or about 1 meter wide and should always be built at a right angle (on plan) to the main pool walls.

The beauty of this structural system is that the buttresses can be used to support timber decking around the pool perimeter. The pool walls and the buttress walls will need proper concrete foundations and these should be at least 16 inches or 400 mm wide and taken down through the topsoil onto reasonably hard sub-soil. The foundations should be at least 6 inches or 150mm thick. They can be stepped if the pool is not being built on a level site. The pool can also be set down into the ground if it is required to reduce the visual obtrusiveness.

The internal water facing side of the concrete block wall should be pointed flush so that the pool sides are smooth. Above ground pools do lose the heat received from solar gain very quickly over-night and to counteract this effect, polystyrene panels can be glued onto the inner face of the pool walls.

An amateur brick layer can build one of these pools quite quickly and easily but care does need to be taken to ensure the structural integrity of the walls and it may be easier and quicker to get a professional involved. A skimmer and three water inlets that can be bought from the local pool shop also need to be installed through the pool walls. The skimmer should be installed so that it maintains the design water level. Two of the water inlets should be installed about 400 mm below water level and the third inlet (that actually works as a drain) should be installed just above the pool floor. All three should be on the side opposite the skimmer.

The pool floor can then be leveled out and covered with sand. Skilled builders may prefer to put down leveling concrete topped off with a sand-cement screed.

When the pool is built, measure it up (include the diagonal measurements at the top and bottom of the pools walls) and order the PVC liner and liner lock from your local pool shop. Work out the volume of your pool and ask the pool shop to provide a pump, sand filter and multi-port valve that will circulate the entire volume of the pool water in 4 hours and a circuit diagram. The filtration equipment and the pipes can all be located, out of the way underneath the decking around the pool.

I will write another article about pool water care because it is very important to get this right when the weather is hot.

List of Buffalo NY Apartments That Approve With Bad Credit and a Broken Lease

Are you looking for an apartment to lease in Buffalo NY but have bad credit, a previous broken lease, bankruptcy or criminal record and are worried you will be denied? Perhaps you’ve already applied and have been turned down by apartment after apartment. This can be a very frustrating ordeal indeed especially if you have already paid the deposit and have been led to believe that an approval is forthcoming. Many individuals and families go through this every day and this is also compounded by the fact that apartments that do offer second or third chance renting are hard to find.

One of the reasons why apartments of this caliber are difficult to located is because they do not formally advertise in the mainstream media. The reason for this is that they want to continue attracting quality tenants who have excellent credit. If you have been looking for a second chance Buffalo NY apartment that approves even with poor credit and/or a broken lease, here are a few locations that you can look at:

  • Allentown
  • Black Rock
  • Delaware
  • Downtown Buffalo
  • Elmwood Strip

We mentioned that the frustration in finding an apartment that will rent to customers who owe on previous apartments or who have a felony/misdemeanor can be aggravated by the fact that they are difficult to locate owing to their reluctance to advertise. But this does not mean that all apartments are alike. There are a few units scattered all over certain locations of the city that are willing to work with tenants with a not-so-rosy credit.

One of the best ways to locate these apartments is to use the Internet. While we mentioned that these apartments rarely advertise, some do and a careful and diligent search can unearth useful results. The Internet is also useful in doing price comparison, and also reviewing what other tenants have said regarding their experience in that particular property

Apartment locators are also beneficial because they may know a few locations that are lenient toward people with problematic credit or rental past. They also have long-term relationships with many leasing managers and these can be handy.

Hunting for apartments in Buffalo if you have tarnished credit or bad rental history can be a challenge but with proper tools and diligence you can lock onto a great apartment that will instantly approve you. We cannot promise that this will be easy as most of the apartments routinely conduct credit checks or background checks and will also peruse criminal history. But hundreds of individuals and families have found excellent living quarters in Buffalo even with bad credit.

The History of the Suzuki T 125

Just two years after Suzuki released the original Suzuki T 125 many overall changes were made to the motorcycle that would give the 1969 Suzuki T 125 Stinger a slimmer fuel tank, higher stability exhaust pipes, and a look that some advertisers would call a “Grand Prix.” The 124cc was a bike that gave bike owners a new dream machine. Though, this bike wasn’t as quick on the track as many expected. The Suzuki T 125 Stinger had many positive aspects to add to the highlight reel.

There were many different models of the Stinger T 125 which are known as the domestic Japanese model, the Suzuki T 125. Another model similar in attributes to the Suzuki T 125 stinger was known as the Suzuki T90 which was only released in china. The original Stinger T 125 was released in cherry red color that helped catch the attention of many. Overall this motorcycle is a fun and enjoyable choice for many outdoor enthusiasts.

The Suzuki Stinger T 125 is equipped right off the line with a 124cc air-cooled dual carburetor with a two stroke parallel twin. Matching engine statistics with the 5-speed transmission and this bike could blow away a majority of other similar bikes on the track. Soon after the release of the 1969 Suzuki Stinger T 125, many improvements were needed and thus the Suzuki T 125 2 Stinger was released in 1970.

The release of the Suzuki Stinger T 125 2 had many improvements that would make this bike obsolete to competition. Suzuki however failed to equip this model with any new brakes or harder suspension. The improvements of the Suzuki Stinger T 125 2 included an exhaust pipe, newer colors to choose from, and it was released solely in the USA. The release of the Suzuki Stinger T 125 2 helped to promote Suzuki and it created a following that was rare to see at the time.

The Suzuki T 125 Specifications

The Length: 1,835 mm

The Width: 790 mm

The Height: 1,080 mm

The Wheelbase: 1,190 mm

The Weight (dry) 96 kg

Europe continued selling the Suzuki T 125 Stinger throughout 1972 until production came to a halt. The last model to be released was the 1971 Suzuki T 125 Stinger which provided many benefiting factors such as a longer seat, a longer rear fender and a few other small details that could help prime new sales for this quickly falling off the market bike. The mechanics of the bike seemed to be unchanged with the 1971 Suzuki T 125 model motorcycle.

If you’re looking for a bike to either just cruise around the city with or race for fun, the Suzuki T 125 Stinger is a great choice for many riders alike. The look of this bike will give any owner the feeling of confidence when riding past onlookers who just can’t seem to divert their eyes. If you are ever looking for a one of a kind bike that knows how to provide fun, the Suzuki T 125 Stinger may just be the ultimate choice for you.

7 Health Benefits For Senior Citizens Who Take Line Dancing Instructions

Line Dancing is the Second Most Popular Thing Seniors Like to Do!

Line dancing is very popular among Senior Citizens. It’s fun, there is great camaraderie among the Seniors, and you don’t need a partner, and it’s an easy way to stay healthy, both mentally and physically.

An Activity Director at a Retirement/Convalescent Home in California told me that line dancing is only second in popularity to square dancing and only because square dancing is an older form of dancing and more Seniors are familiar with it. Also, many Seniors were in square dance clubs and went to meetings each week when they were younger.

At almost any class in line dance instructions, you will see many Seniors. There are several dances suitable for people with limited mobility, such as  “Tush Push”, “Electric Slide”, “Country Walkin'”, “Dancin’ with You” and the ever beautiful, “Waltz Across Texas”, which I love to do to Collin Raye’s “Dreamin’ My Dreams of You.” There is even a “sit down” tongue-in-cheek line dance by Knox Rhine called “Take A Break” which doesn’t even need music! Most classes feature easy line dances as well as more advanced.

Health Benefits

The health benefits of line dancing are obvious. Everyone benefits from exercise and line dancing is so much fun, it doesn’t seem like exercise. I read a report that said that people who line dance could possibly live an extra ten years. This may or may not be true, but it’s certainly something to consider.

Here is a list of some of the health benefits you will enjoy if you line dance on a regular basis:

* Cardiovascular and muscular strength and flexibility become better;

* High blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and high triglyceride levels, as well as high blood sugar levels can all improve;

* Coordination improves as you work through the different movements;

* Lung capacity can increase;

* Bone strength can increase; bone loss can be stopped or slowed down

* Help with weight control – half an hour of continuous line dancing can burn an average of 300 calories

* The social aspects of  line dancing are obvious. Your sense of well-being and the camaraderie you have with the other dancers is wonderful for your health.

Line Dance Videos are available everywhere

There are many line dance DVDs and videos that Seniors can purchase and use to practice in the privacy of their homes. This is especially good if they are shy about going to a regular class or don’t have a class in their community that teaches line dancing for seniors.

Scooter Lee and Jo Thompson

The lovely and talented singer/songwriter Scooter Lee has many classes targeted towards Seniors through her non-profit organization, Dancing for the Dream®, which she started with choreographer Jo Thompson.

As popular as her music was for line dancing, at first Scooter Lee didn’t line dance herself, even after being diagnosed with numerous health issues and being overweight.  Finally, after learning to eat right, exercise, and create good habits in her life with positive thinking and positive people, she included line dancing in her routine for good health.  Though the damage to her joints and organs was not reversible, Lee started to pay attention to her own health, eventually losing approximately 150 pounds in five years.

Where to Find Classes for Line Dancin’ Fun

You can find many classes for line dance instructions just for Senior Citizens at Community Centers, Parks and Recreation Departments, and Church Groups all over America, as well as at classes at dance studios.

If you live in the Eastern part of America, check out the classes available through Step In the Name of Life(TM).  They have classes in at least 32 cities.  Jamie Gant started the first group in Florida so his grandmother would have a place to go to line dance for her health.  After going with her, he was ready to start classes for everyone.  Their goal:  Stepping Away Diabetes, High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure & More(TM).

What Are the Advantages & Disadvantages of FTTH Cable?

Fiber Optics is becoming an increasingly popular medium of transmitting data. The things that most people talk about, with Fiber Optics, is the express speed at which data is transmitted. When compared with conventional methods, this is a huge rise. The reason for this enhanced speed is because Fiber Optic technology makes use of light instead of electricity while sending information.

FTTH makes use of Fiber Optic technology to enhance communication for households. FTTH stands for Fiber to the Home, and many experts believe that FTTH cable will soon replace the traditional copper cables. There are various other elements of FTTH. FTTH drop cable is generally also known as indoor cable. Other elements of the technology include instrumentation cables and cable glands.

Why FTTH is becoming desirable is because it delivers high speed broadband to households. It integrates voice, video, and data. Here are some advantages and disadvantages of this upcoming technology:

1. Internet Speed: One of the biggest advantages of FTTH is the improved internet speed. Internet is continuously becoming the backbone of most communications, around the world. Whether people want to stream videos, download files, or even have video-chats – internet speed is the deciding factor. By enhancing the internet speeds that people received, FTTH is making it possible for people to stay in touch. Moreover, an increasing number of people are working from home; and faster internet speeds help them stay connected at all times.

2. Technology: When we consider the traditional copper, they make use of analog lines that generate signal through the connected telephone device. As the description suggests, this technology is less defined, especially when you compare that with Fiber Optic.

3. Upcoming Applications: There are various new applications coming up for FTTH. Hence, by having FTTH – households stay connected with the latest in technology.

4. Vendors: It is easy to find vendors for Fiber to the Home, and that is another benefit of having this all new technology.

1. The only disadvantage of having FTTH cable is the cost associated with having the cable and having it installed. Many households might not be able to afford the same. However, there is another concept called Fiber to the Premises (FTTP), which brings Fiber to a particular locality. That is cheaper to be installed as compared to Fiber to the Home (FTTH).

In short, FTTH cable is transforming the way we communicated in the past; and it will soon become the norm.

Mortgage Pay Off Trap – Why the First Five Years of Your Mortgage is Set to Work Against You

The first 5 years of your mortgage is the most critical. The general rule of thumb is that you spend at least 5 times more in principal than interest. You can run the numbers for yourself at http://www.bankrate.com

The banks’ hope you won’t break free from this cycle and have designed the mortgage tables to trap you into paying interest for a longer period of time.

To get ahead of your mortgage…

…it is important you have a basic understanding of your mortgage amortization schedule so that the banks don’t take advantage of you and suck you into a lifetime of payments.

I know this may sound strange but nothing in life is constant.

Chances are at some point you will move, need to borrow money from your mortgage, pay for the kids education or take out a reverse mortgage in retirement. Knowing how your mortgage works will help you make those important financial decisions.

Let’s take a closer look at an example.

For a $334,000 mortgage at a 6.3% interest rate you will end up paying approximately $774,252.88 in repayments over 30 years.

You will spend $410,252.88 in interest and $334,000 in principal.

That sounds pretty fair right?

At approximately year 21, you will pay off 50% of your mortgage. So in the last ten years you will still owe $167,000.

Can you see what going on?

For the 1st 20 years you are working for the bank. Most of your hard-earned paycheck goes towards interest.

Which sucks!

Let’s take a closer look at the first 5 years of your amortization schedule. You will notice that you spend $22,068.33 in principal and $101,973.82 in interest.

Out of a total repayment of $124,042.15, you would pay approximately 82% in mortgage interest as compared to principal.

This made me feel sick when I found about this for my mortgage.

So where did it leave me and what does this mean to you?

You really start making a small dent in your mortgage after the first 8 years.

Please don’t take my word for this. You can go directly to http://www.bankrate.com and check this for yourself if your mortgage balance has changed. Pay close attention to your outstanding balance and how much of your monthly repayments are applied to interest at this point.

At the year 21 mark of your monthly mortgage payments, more of your money will go towards principal than interest. Your hard-earned paycheck would finally begin to work for you.

There are two key numbers to understand when dealing with your mortgage.

  • The first 5 years, where you would typically pay five times more in interest than principal, is the first key milestone.
  • The second key point is at year 21 when you still owe at least 50 percent of your mortgage principal.

This is interesting to know that at the 21 year mark, you pay less in interest and in the last 10 years you get very little to almost no tax deductions for your mortgage interest.

To make a dent in your mortgage, the first barrier you need to break is the five to eight year mark. Once you get past this, a little more of your cash goes towards principal and you begin to build some momentum.

Just imagine if you refinance or take out a new home.

The process starts all over again and you are stuck in a lifetime of payments.

Now here is how the banks really make their money by lending your funds to buy a home.

They count on a homeowner like you to move within the first 8 years or refinance their home. The more times you do this, the cycle starts all over again and you end paying a significant amount of your money on interest.

The goal is to break through this barrier.

How to Clean Upholstery in Your Vehicle

When you look at your older car’s interior, it more than likely does not look as good as it did the day you bought it. It is not at all uncommon for the interior to get soiled over the years with normal use. Learning how to clean upholstery yourself is not all that difficult and can save you some money.

These upholstery cleaning tips are for cloth interiors only and not leather. We use shampoo to clean cloth interior. We have options when it comes to the cleaning solution we use. You can buy super clean or purple power degreaser at any local auto parts house. This works really well on carpet and cloth seats for removing stains. You can also use dawn dish washing liquid which we all know is great at fighting grease. Find a five gallon bucket or anything that will hold two or three gallons of water. Fill the bucket with water and add just a little of the cleaner, if using purple cleaner just add a few capfuls until the water slightly changes color. With dish soap maybe a tablespoon or so. We do not want a lot of foam and soap we have to get out of the cloth. It is always a good idea to test a little spot in an inconspicuous area before we start. Just use a white cloth and wet with cleaner and rub a little in to see if the color is rubbing off on your towel. If so stop now and call a professional for advice on cleaning this type of material.

Items needed to shampoo your cars interior yourself are a wet/dry vac, a scrub brush, and a few towels. Just do small areas at a time to get the best results, except for the seats, wet the entire seat to ensure there is no streaking. Then you can work smaller areas of the seat after it is all wet with shampoo. Use a hand towel to wet it down with shampoo, then scrub gently with a brush and vacuum it really well to remove as much water as possible. You can repeat wetting bad areas and vacuuming it out until you see no more dirt coming up. When you have it vacuumed as good as possible use a dry towel to rub the entire seat down which removes more dirt and more water to help dry times. We do the same process with each seat and the carpet.

Drying the interior as quickly as possible is essential when you are all done shampooing. If not dried in a reasonable time it will get musty, similar to leaving wet clothes in the washer too long. If it is sunny out leave the windows down and make sure the car is in the sun. Place a fan blowing in a window of the car to keep the air moving and speed dry time. If it isn’t sunny out, you can roll the windows up to about 2 inches down and turn the heater on high. If you have a small fan that oscillates, put it in the car wherever you can get it to stay safely and turn it on high. Do not leave it unattended for very long and keep checking the carpet and seats to see if their dry. If you have a garage where you can leave the windows down all night and a fan blowing, this would be the ideal thing to do.

During the drying stage, you may notice some dirt resurfacing. When being shown how to clean car upholstery that has had cola spills in it, you will see exactly what I am talking about. You can just take a dry towel and rub these areas as they dry and it will pick it up. There is no doubt this is a long tiring process when learning how to clean upholstery. There is a lot of bending and scrubbing involved. This is why a lot of people choose to take their cars to a local detail shop and have the interior steam cleaned. Although, if you want to save money and learn how to do it yourself, this is one way to do it and get great results.

What Filipino Men Are Like: The Inside-Scoop

Getting the inside view on what Filipino men are like is as easy as looking into the glass. Typically, most Filipino men are the same. Inwardly, they are all protective. Being males, like most animals, they make sure that their mates are well-cared for. Instinctively, men will do anything to protect their women. This is the reason why, when crossing the street, the men are always on the danger side of the women.

Filipino men are programmed to be gentlemen. Since they were kids, they were taught to respect their elders and be polite. They open doors for their dates, pull out the chairs, open the car doors, etc. When they get down from the vehicle, they hold the woman’s hand to help her down and to prevent her from tripping. These gestures may sound a bit old-world, and some feminists may disapprove, but that’s how Filipino men are. They say “po” or “opo” to address their elders. Being polite and courteous is stitched into their DNA.

They can also be conservative because that’s how they were raised. Old-fashioned Filipino men still prefer women who show less skin to those who show more skin. Sometimes, they also prefer timid and nice girls to the loud and wild ones. Case in point, some men would shun away smoking, alcoholic girls who party all night. Other guys make like these girls, but the typical nice and sweet guy would rather cuddle with the nice girls who stay at home.

Wanting to learn what Filipino men are like is the first step to getting closer to one. One thing about these men is that they are friendly and jolly. They love looking at smiling faces and would rather be with laughing with friends, having a few drinks. They are also outgoing. Even though the Philippine culture is quite conservative, it does not stop people from throwing parties and social get-togethers.

Although they are outgoing, Filipino men have a tendency to keep quiet when it comes to expressing their feelings. They don’t really know to say what they feel, and they prefer to keep silent. This is true in situations where they opt to be inoffensive.

Filipino men are known to be generous and very hard-working. When they have something to share, they do share it with friends or family. They are considered to be excellent breadwinners of their families because they always put the needs of the entire family first. This is the reason why men work hard and concentrate on their work.

Filipino men, especially those raised Christian, are God-fearing. Thus, they are loyal and faithful to their loved ones, and their wives. Once they say their vows, it’s until death do you part.

Guys with these characteristics are worth getting to know, and who knows? They may grow on you. Men who are nice, thoughtful, caring, respectful, loyal, smart, outgoing and God-fearing are scarce. They are rare and are the type to settle down and get serious. These characteristics embody what Filipino men are like once you take the time to know them better.
