Body-Weight Rocks

Okay, so we’ve all heard that to get a great body you need to go to the gym and lift weights. However you don’t have to lift weights or go to a gym to get a great body at all, you can build an amazing physique with nothing but body-weight exercises.

The problem most of the time when people think of body-weight training, is it’s just in the same plane old sit-ups, crunches and some squats. If that were the case I could understand the idea of it being impossible to get ripped without weight-training.

The truth is, body-weight training involves so much more, training with your body is actually one of the best forms of exercise you can do. Just for the record here, I’m not saying weight-training with dumbbells and barbells is bad because I don’t believe that for one second. I’m not one of those people who says there is only one way to do things, because we can all use different paths to reach the same destination and if you want to get ripped, body-weight training could be your route and solution to getting there.

You see body-weight training when done right can rapidly transform the way you look and perform. A few examples of this are gymnasts, these guys are in unbelievable shape, if you have ever seen a gymnast perform on the rings, they look amazing and even a lot of boxers still only train using their body and get fantastic results.

If you’ve tried it before and thought you didn’t get results, it’s probably nothing to do with the fact you were only training with your body-weight. It was much more likely you didn’t have a well thought-out training plan. One that evolved and changed to keep you adapting and getting results month after month because lets face it, just doing some press ups and sit ups every-night is not going to cut it.

However, if you want to get great abs and see why body-weight literally rocks, then you need to start working a bit harder, using just body-weight works and it works ridiculously well, when done right.

To get it right, you’ve got to take it to the next level, you can’t expect to do what you’ve always done, because you will just get what you’ve always got. The reason body-weight programs can work, is because the workouts can be brutal and the exercises can be very hard-core.

Instead of just doing a few sit-ups at home like the average program, you need to be using body-weight training the way it’s meant to be done, with intensity. You need to be working on some very tough exercises such as muscle ups, front levers, back levers, rope climbs, to pistol squats and handstand press ups. If you focus on movements like this, you will see big changes, however because body-weight training is tough, it’s important to take your time with the progressions from one movement to another and to be patient, great results don’t come overnight.

How Do You Enlarge Your Penis Naturally In The Heat Of The Moment?

Imagine yourself on a date with the woman of your fantasy … pretty, young and voluptuous. You have worked hard setting up this date, waiting for the perfect timing, and now the moment you have been dreaming of has finally arrived.

Imagine further that you have succeeded in seducing the young woman, and she has agreed to spend the night with you … in bed! Now, you become apprehensive: what if your penis does not deliver as expected? What if your erection is not as hard as it used to be? What if the girl is left wanting? Of course you would not want such a letdown to happen! A question immediately comes to mind: how do I enlarge my penis naturally?

Sure, you have heard about medications to enhance performance, but you are afraid of the possible side effects. So how do you enlarge your penis naturally?

They say that the first step in solving a problem is recognizing it. How do you enlarge your penis naturally if you think that that is not your problem? Many men in fact would not admit it's their problem. Recognizing the problem also means understanding the problem. Declining libido and sexual desire are caused by many factors, ranging from natural to artificial. Causes can be as natural as mere aging, or as artificial as being psychological. Causes in between are mostly as a consequence of how we live our lives, or what we may call lifestyle causes. Vices like smoking and drinking, poor diet, and lack of exercise contribute significantly to poor sexual performance. Due to poor diet, smoking, and intake of alcohol, the blood vessels constrict the flow of blood in the body, particularly to the penis.

This question that many men are afraid to ask remains – how do you enlarge your penis naturally? An enhancement product, coupled with a healthy lifestyle is the answer. Healthy blood circulation is the key to a healthy sex life. Regular exercise and a balanced diet are important in keeping that healthy blood circulation. Exercise need not mean going to the gym; It could be as simple as using the stairs instead of the elevators, or walking instead of driving your car for very short distances.

For the longest period, people have used concoctions of plants and herbs to enhance virility, and health in general. Natural supplements are perceived to have less side-effects as the synthetic types, and rightly so. Herbal supplements work by allowing a freer flow of blood to the penis, increasing the volume of blood flow by enlarging the blood vessels. The penis size is likewise enlarged.

Vegetarian Diet Plan for Weight Loss

There are many reasons that someone will choose to take on a vegetarian lifestyle. It might be that you are concerned about the treatment of animals. Perhaps you are trying to be get healthier by cutting out red meat. You might not realize that a vegetarian diet can also help you to lose weight. If you choose to start a vegetarian diet for weight loss you need to make sure that you are making healthy choices. By cutting out meat you can see dramatic changes in your waistline, but you want to do it the right way. If you change to a vegetarian diet plan and all you eat is bananas, you are not going to give your body enough fuel to keep you moving throughout the day.

Changing to a vegetarian diet for weight loss is a great idea; just make sure that you pay attention to what you are eating. This way you are sure to get all the nutrients you need. It is not just about cutting out red meats or fatty animal protein; it is about making lifestyle changes to help the way you look and feel.

Here are five areas of nutrition that you need to be aware of when cutting meat out of your diet. The average meat eater gets these vitamins and minerals from meat, so you have to keep an eye out for these things in other places.

1. Protein – no doubt you have heard people say to vegetarians “how do you get enough protein?” There are actually lots of places to get protein that do not come from animal flesh. Protein helps to fuel our bodies and keeps our muscles working properly. You can get plenty of protein from other foods like legumes, nuts, whole grains, and soy or tofu.

2. Iron – again people tend to think that vegetarians are all anemic because they don’t get enough iron in their diet. This is something you need to pay attention too, but just like protein there are many other places to get iron. Iron helps to keep your blood flowing and strong. You can get iron from whole grains, dark leafy vegetables, dried beans, and dried fruit. Keep in mind that your body needs vitamin C to properly absorb iron, so make sure that you are getting plenty of that in your diet as well.

3. Vitamin B12 – the truth is, most people do not get enough of this vital vitamin in their diet. Vitamin B12 can help with the production of red blood cells. This can dramatically affect energy and mood. There are only a few non animal related places where you can get vitamin B12; dark and leafy vegetables are one of them. You can also find this vitamin in eggs, cheese, and other dairy sources. If you are cutting back on dairy you might want to consider taking a supplement.

4. Calcium – this mineral keeps bones strong as well as teeth. Everyone knows that you can get calcium from dairy, but often vegetarians try and cut back on dairy products as well as other animal products. Dark green vegetables like kale, broccoli, and spinach all have high amounts of calcium in them.

5. Zinc – this is a lesser known mineral that people typically get from eating meat products. Zinc helps your body to create enzymes and which help process protein in the system. On a vegetarian diet you can get zinc from wheat germ, nuts, soy, and whole grains.

If you are able to watch the levels of all of these vitamins and minerals you should be well on your way to a healthy lifestyle. Being a vegetarian means paying attention to the foods you eat and how much you are taking in to stay healthy.

San Francisco Hip Guide Part 1 – Drinking Like a Local

While most events in San Francisco happen at night, there is a sweet spot that's not too early, not too late, it's Happy Hour. Wherever you're from, you have it there too, but Happy Hours in San Francisco are not like other part of the country. Sure, there are the loosen your tie and grab a beer places, with flush face white guys yammering on about the account they just landed or techies, fresh off the trade-show floor at the convention center, but you need to avoid these places, There nothing you can not find anywhere at those spots. The Happy Hours you need to be at are at art galleries and hipster hole in the walls, with music, cheap drinks, dancing and attractive potential mates. Below are some of my top spots to stop for a beer when you want to hang out.

111 Minna – Check out the 111 Minna Gallery, especially on Wednesday nights for their long running Qool party. Two bars and hundreds of city hipsters congregating for DJs and socializing.

Tokyo- A-Go-Go: With arguably the best sushi in San Francisco, Tokyo Go Go also has one of the best happy-hours in this city of plenty. Wide-open and lofty, there is so much space it is amazing that the servers can keep up with the crowd. The Honda Accord is one of the most beloved sedans ever. Excellent engineering, comfort, and reliability are reasons Accord owners often buy the same model again. However, every vehicle will have mechanical problems at some time or another.

Here are the top 5 most common Honda Accord repair problems.

#1: Vibration When Braking This problem typically is caused by warped front brake rotors. Some owners describe this as a rattling, shaking, or rubbing sensation. Accords with over 98,000 are more likely to experience this issue. In some cases, the rotors can be machined as a fix. If too thin, the rotors will require replacement. Brake pad and rotor replacement can cost up to $900, parts and labor.

#2: Transmission Failure Transmission slippage, poor shifting, skipping, or failure may occur in some Accords, usually at over 70,000 miles. Repair might require a transmission overhaul or complete replacement If your vehicle is under the factory warranty, the repairs should be covered. If not, costs for repairs can run you anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000.

#3: Compliance Bushing Cracking If you hear squealing or feel shuddering when turning, it could mean that a part of the steering/suspension mechanism is broken. The compliance bushing is typically the culprit, especially in Accords with 95,000 miles or more. In some cases, a cracked compliance bushing will be detected upon routine service or oil change. Typical repair cost for this problem is $500 to $600.

#4: Power Door Lock Failure Your Accord’s power door locks might activate intermittently on their own, usually on vehicles with over 105,000 miles. Also, the remote door lock control might not function properly. If your vehicle is equipped with an alarm, you might have problems with it going off due to a door lock malfunction. Each door has an actuator, and if one is faulty the entire system can be affected. It costs about $200 to have a door lock actuator replaced.

#5: Dashboard Display Dark For Accords with more than 109,000 miles, you might experience the dashboard display going dark, especially the radio and climate control. This problem is caused by a faulty circuit board which should be replaced. The total cost to repair, parts included, can be around $200 to $300.

Overall the Honda Accord has proven to a reliable and dependable vehicle and consistently garners high customer satisfaction reviews. So what new for the 2016 Honda Accord.

The Honda Accord receives a variety of updates for 2016. Revisions include updated exterior styling (including new LED taillights for all models), revised suspension tuning, new interior trim and, on EX models and above, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. All sedans except the base LX model now get a 60/40-split rear seat, while the new Honda Sensing package of driver assistance features is available on all trim levels.

Origins of the Baltimore County Fire Department

One of the more unique fire fighting forces in Maryland is that of Baltimore County. Its combination service consists of several volunteer fire companies working in concert with the all paid Baltimore County Fire Department Maryland’s oldest municipal county fire agency. This revered and unique cooperative force protects a large suburban county surrounding Baltimore City.

In the middle 1800s the county area surrounding Baltimore becomes known as “The Belt” home to various mills and industrial complexes. Through the 1870s, mills and adjacent company villages increasingly fall victim to fire. The closest firefighting resources are the steam-powered fire companies from the by then mostly paid Baltimore City Fire Department. In 1878, the Waverly Fire Department organizes as the first in the county. The Towsontown Fire Company forms soon after, in the county seat known today simply as Towson. Local residents fund both the county paying for the fire houses and apparatus. While better than nothing this is inadequate for protecting the developing industrial areas surrounding Baltimore.

By 1881, city budget tightening brings a request that the county pay an up front fee for fire protection. Negotiations for a lesser amount are fruitless the city to fight fire in the county no more. With only two volunteer fire companies, County Commissioners contract with Charles T. Holloway. A past Chief Engineer and Fire Inspector of the Baltimore City Department, Holloway also began the city’s Insurance Fire Patrol. He also designs and builds chemical fire engines and hook and ladders and recently helped form the Pittsburgh Fire Department. Holloway agrees to help create a county fire department over which he will serve as Chief Engineer for six months.

In July 1881, the Waverly Fire Department disbands directed to turn their station and apparatus over to the new county fire department. On September 1, the Baltimore County Fire Department begins with seven horse-drawn chemical engine companies all but one built by Holloway. These are housed in as many fire stations in “The Belt” each including the Waverly Station with paid firefighters. The more distant Towsontown company remains volunteer with just a hook and ladder. Property of the Towsontown Fire Company transfers in 1883 to the County Department although it remains reliant on volunteers. On January 8, 1884, Chief Engineer Holloway resigns, his six-month tenure having lasted several years.

By the first half of 1888, the County Fire Department has nine stations each with a chemical engine plus four hook and ladders. The county owned Towsontown Station still relies on volunteers with a similar operation developing in Catonsville. On June 1, Baltimore City annexes the northern 2-miles and western 1-mile of “The Belt”. Seven county fire stations are lost adding apparatus, firefighters, horses and equipment to the Baltimore City Fire Department. The county department is left with fire houses in Highlandtown and Canton each with chemical engines plus two hook and ladders one in Canton the other at volunteer operated Towsontown.

In subsequent months the department rebuilds. In 1890, the new Catonsville Station opens under the county department the volunteers at Towson replaced soon after by paid personnel as well. More county stations follow by 1892. In 1894, the county department begins adding steam-powered pumping engines. About the turn of the century, various volunteer companies form often funded in part by the county bringing suggestions by 1901 the paid county department with its 10 stations be abolished. One volunteer group the Sparrows Point Volunteer Fire Department has seven companies in as many fire houses protecting the expanding Maryland Steel Company complex and shipyard in the southeast county.

On January 1, 1919, the city again annexes over 46 square miles from the county this time on all three sides plus a smaller southern portion from Anne Arundel County. This creates the boundaries of Baltimore City and County as known today. Lost are eight county fire houses plus six volunteer companies. As before, the Baltimore County Fire Department is left with meager resources -13 personnel for one engine now staffed with paid personnel at Towson, one engine at Catonsville and a driver assigned to the county-owned engine of the Pikesville volunteers. Nineteen volunteer departments remain however only about 10 have modern apparatus. Lost are 39 paid personnel, eight motorized engines and two hook and ladders. The County Department will not operate as many engines again until 1943 and it will take until 1949 before they have another ladder truck.

In subsequent years, the County Department rebuilds operating at times from barns as well as taking over other recently defunct volunteer companies such as in Essex and Relay. In April 1942, the County Department begins ambulance service from three of its stations. After World War II, growth brings tract housing and industry seeking spacious locations near skilled but less costly labor. The suburban building boom that follows absorbs once rural areas especially near the city line. Various new volunteer companies form as the County Department also expands to meet the growing demand.

In 1954, radio communications begin from a central dispatch facility in the new Towson Station. In 1957, a paid fire department under Bethlehem Steel replaces the volunteers at Sparrows Point consolidating to a single new firehouse. At the close of the 1950s, the County Department has 14 engines, one ladder truck, one tanker and six ambulances from 10 stations. There are 31 volunteer company stations including at least two ambulance companies plus several campus facility, military and industrial departments.

The 1960s bring further expansion of the County Department as the proliferation of volunteer companies wane. By decades end, the County Department has 22 engines, five ladder trucks, one tanker, eight ambulances and several special units from 18 stations. There are 33 volunteer company stations including two ambulance companies plus facility, military and industrial departments all operating as a cooperative force.

In the early 1970s the County Department like the city begins paramedic ambulance service. In subsequent years and decades, the Baltimore County Fire Department expands further adding more stations including paramedic ambulance only facilities. In 1987, the Sparrows Point department goes to the County Department becoming Station 57. The latest county station opened in 2009 a replacement multi-service facility for Parkton Station 60 in the rural northern county.

Baltimore County’s fire rescue service is provided by a unique system that includes an all career County Fire Department with 25 stations operating 30 engines, 9 ladders and 30 paramedic ambulances. This agency works in unison with various volunteer companies also with an impressive fleet of resources including engines, tankers, ladders, rescue trucks and paramedic ambulances. While other counties in Maryland now have municipal county fire departments these typically came after World War II. The Baltimore County Fire Department is the oldest such entity in Maryland and is one of the more unique cooperative municipal paid and volunteer fire and medical service agencies in the nation.

Book Summary: Launching a Leadership Revolution Written by Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady

Everything rises and falls on leadership. The fate of our country in the coming years will be determined by jobs and small / medium sized businesses. To run these organizations effectively, leadership is needed. Orrin and Chris do an excellent job profiling the five stages of leadership.

Why is this important to me?

I don’t want to waste your time and I want you to get actionable information from this summary. With that said, there are a couple of components that I want to point out as it relates to influence. Leaders sell the difference between their vision and today’s reality. If the vision is compelling and the leader has character and integrity, people will follow.

People need to be hone-able, honorable and hungry to become leaders. Leadership takes effort. I can personally tell you that leading people is not easy. I am also a beginning leader with a lot to learn. To gain mind share of people, you have to influence them and compel them to the cause.

Launching a Leadership Revolution discusses 5 levels of influence on the leadership staircase. For the sake of time, I will profile each part in summary. Leadership can be like herding cats because people are different. To that end, it is the goal of the leader to unite people toward the common cause.

1. Learning – Continuous learning is required now for any field especially leading. You have to be committed to learning every day. This needs to be a habit. You cannot influence people in mass if you are not willing to take the hits and do the work. Learning leads to better performance and enlightenment. Without it, you cannot lead. The world is to sophisticated today for ignorance. You need to be a lifelong learner.

2. Performance – It is not the number of hours you put into an endeavor but the effort you put into the hours. Leaders have to perform. NFL Coaches have a three year life span. If they do not perform and create a winning team, they are fired. People expect performance and want to follow winners. Everybody remembers Muhammad Ali and George Forman. Do you remember Ernie Shavers or Jerry Quarry? These two fighters were good but they were not the champions. There are a couple of keys to performance: 1. 80/20 Rule – focus on what matters and discard what doesn’t and 2. Parkinson’s Law – Focuses on effectiveness and states that a task swells to its allotted time table. Shorten the deadlines on tasks and they will get done. In college, how many of you finished term papers in the last week before they were due? This is Parkinson’s Law in its negative affect. The term paper could be done in one week instead of 15 weeks.

3. Leading – “To serve is to rule” – Leaders know that they have to serve others to get the job done. Selfish egotistical leaders will typically be stuck in positional leadership which is the lowest rung on the leadership ladder. Lee Iacocca was a good leader but not a great leader. He lost his focus and started focusing on his ego after the Chrysler turnaround. His focus became too “I centered”. To be a great leader, you need to be humble and have the collective put ahead of yourself. If you look at truly great leaders you will see this trait – Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and George Washington.

4. Developing Leaders – Developing other leaders is the real key multiplier effect. Having great people who lead allows organizations to scale. In business, this is the difference between being self-employed and owning a business that does not require your full attention. Do you have a local dentist? Typically what you see at these practices are very successful people that do all the work. They make an excellent living but cannot scale beyond a certain point because THEY can only do so much work and there are only so many hours in a day. Contrast this to Warren Buffett. Warren owns several businesses and does not run any of them. He buys them with excellent management and leadership in place. He provides additional leadership and capital to expand the business and scale. That is one benefit of developing leaders.

5. Developing Leaders who develop leaders – This is the holy grail of leadership. Orrin gives a great example in the book. Christianity is 2000 years old and it is primarily that way because of the Apostle Paul. His ability to develop leaders who developed leaders was un-parallel in history.

Launching a Leadership Revolution is a good book that is worth the time to study. Orrin and Chris do a good job of profiling the key aspects of influence and leadership.

I hope you have found this short video summary useful. The key to any new idea is to work it into your daily routine until it becomes habit. Habits form in as little as 21 days. One thing you can take away from this book is learning. The major ingredient to get your leadership skills off the ground is to learn. Make it a daily habit to read a few pages, watch educational videos and tap into associations outside your comfort zone.

Gothic Novel and the Development of the Genre in English Literature

Gothic Novel is a type of romantic fiction. It was predominant in English literature around the late 18th century to the first two decades of the 19th century. The setting for the fiction was usually a ruined Gothic castle. The typical story of such romantic fiction revolved around the suffering of an innocent woman inflected by a cruel villain. The writers used ghosts and other supernatural occurrences. The main intend of such novels was to evoke chilling terror by skillfully using mystery and horror.

The Term Gothic Applied for:

1. The Gothic novel was also considered as Gothic romance.

2. The term Gothic is also employed to designate narrative poetry or prose of which the major elements are horror, violence, and the supernatural.

3. The selection of the locale was usually a haunted castle with dungeons, underground passages, ghost-haunted rooms, and secret stairways that produced great amount of awe, wonder and fear.

The genre was nothing but a phase of the literary movement of romanticism in English literature. It was also the precursor of the modern mystery novel.

The Major writers of the Gothic Romance:

It was Horace Walpole who inaugurated the Gothic romance. He wrote The Castle of Otranto: A Gothic Story (1764). Other major writers were Clara Reeve, who wrote The Champion of Virtue (1777); Ann Radcliffe, who wrote The Mysteries of Udolpho (1794); Charles Robert Maturin, who wrote The Fatal Revenge (1807); and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley who wrote Frankenstein (1818).

The American professional novelist Charles Brockden Brown is known for his Gothic romances. Other American writers such as Henry James, William Faulkner, and Flannery O’Connor used Gothic elements in their fiction. The late 20th century American novelists Stephen King and Anne Rice in their works show the sustained influence and popularity of this Gothic form.

The INFJ Temperament

If you’ve done the Myers Briggs test and know you’re an INFJ, then hopefully, this discussion will be interesting for you. It assumes a working knowledge of Jung’s typology system as adapted by Myers Briggs and also an understanding of the basic markers and characteristics of the INFJ temperament.

The Introversion/Extroversion Issue

The E/I issue has been debated ad infinitem in many places but the primary difference for the INFJ is biological (i.e. cannot be changed). It boils down to how much stimulation you can take in and still remain comfortable. For INFJ’s, this threshold is low and you are going to have to accept this fact, frustrating though it is. Your ability for laser focus on one thing for long periods; your tendency to observe and reflect, and your need for time alone are all a direct result of a lower threshold for receiving external environmental input. If you take in too much, you will become overloaded. Because you don’t depend as much on external stimuli for motivation as other types, you come to regard your internal concepts about life as primary and even once this picture this looks pretty solid, it is, in fact a work in progress that will never be complete. Why? Because introverted intuition is your dominant function.

Introverted Intuition

What is introverted intuition? It is the process of recognising and interpreting information you take in. It is a perceiving left brain function. What’s interesting about this way of viewing the world is that you take in the material facts as do all the other types, but you are immediately aware of an ability to organize them in more than one way. You form many different conceptual patterns with information which changes its meaning and gives new options or potential outcomes. Your direct opposite, the extroverted intuitive types, do this too but unify information into multiple “outward” patterns or possibilities. For INFJ’s the patterns aren’t out there but inside and part of themselves. Everyone will at some time use introverted intuition to contend with some serious ambiguity in their life but what’s unusual about the INFJ is that they use introverted intuition as their “dominant” perceiving function all the time! It is their primary method of understanding reality. The extreme end of this perception is experience of psychic phenomena. Something that seems to result from the combination of the F and introverted N function.

The immediate problem you face as an INFJ utilising your dominant function is that you are going to see things from many, sometimes conflicting points of view all at the same time! This can paralyze you from taking any action or expressing an opinion though usually your J function will overcome this problem. It’s a rather strange combination of vision and practicality. You won’t necessarily feel a need to declare that one opinion is inherently better than another. The great thing about this though is that unlike most other types, when you face what appears to be an insurmountable problem, it is often possible to solve it by just changing your perspective and defining the situation in some other way. The world could do with more people who have the ability to think this way. INFJ’s make great councillors, teachers, mediators, managers, editors and even politicians for the very reason that if they can get another person to see beyond the fixed subjective paradigm of their own typological reality; there is the chance to move them past an unhelpful gridlock pattern of thought. It is so important for INFJ’s to develop their secondary and tertiary functions because if they can do this, they become prepared to surrender some of their inner world and share their skills.

A major pitfall to watch out for as an INFJ is that because it’s so instinctual to see the systems or the scaffold that underlies cultural, religious and personal assumptions you will immediately see the flaws in these structures. You see the aspects of reality that aren’t being acknowledged. INFJ’s can get stuck in the habit of mentally tearing these away (whereas others will just consider them fixed and live within them). However, unless you can articulate something better, and find the language to describe it, this part of the INFJ temperament turns into a pointless and unhelpful exercise. A lot of INFJ’s try to address this constructively in some form of art, poetry, music, writing or political commentary. Others will do it by trying to work within, and subtly alter, distorted economic or business structures. They will instinctively try to break through simplistic, fixed patterns and assumptions which create distortion, inefficiency or suffering of some kind.

Self Identity

From the INFJ’s perspective, the self cannot be defined by external circumstances. On the contrary, reality is what INFJ’s bring to something from within. You will, of course, create a personal external identity just as other types do but you tend to place much less importance on it, sometimes even seeing it as a kind of character to assume in certain circumstances. If, for example, you are at a party and you’re asked what you do (a perfectly reasonable conversation opener) you might find yourself struggling to give a suitable answer. This is because INFJ’s simply don’t view themselves in terms of externals (what they do or who they are in relation to others). To them, the self is something that cannot be explained in a sentence and involves not just the individual self but also the universal self that exists within the INFJ. To complicate things further, the line between the individual self and the universal self starts to get blurry as the INFJ gets older. This is complete lunacy to other types, particularly those who are dominant sensates but it is the reality of the INFJ.

Many INFJ’s long for some kind of religious/spiritual succour, but they will generally outgrow any belief system once structures creating separation (e.g. the saved and the sinful) are uncovered. This is because separation is fundamentally at odds with the inner world of unity that most INFJ’s ultimately arrive at. You won’t find it easy to explain all this to someone you’ve just met, while clutching a wine glass at a cocktail party. My advice on this? Get over it and tell them what they want to hear! What you can and will recognise about these types of social situations which all INFJ’s hate, is the underlying unifying need for all types including yourself to connect with others. You might feel horribly inauthentic expressing yourself in this way in a social setting that’s looking for a short sound bite of information that skims the surface but the world won’t grind to a halt. If you can begin to recognise that the majority of the population are E’s and sensate not intuitively based, then you’ll realize that most other people feel depleted and overtaxed by the kind of inner mental processes and discussions that motivate and energise yourself. INFJ’s are the rarest (less than 1% of the population) of the personality types and it really helps to remember that other people are not experiencing reality as you do.This sense of both the universal and the individual self residing within is both the curse and the blessing of the INFJ and the older you get the more important and insistent the universal part will become as you look to contribute in some way to making the world a better place. As you agonise your way through your early years, try to remember that the real beauty of The INFJ type lies in the fact you are not at the mercy of your external environment for your sense of identity and self in the way that extroverts or introverted sensate types are where things need to be reflected back to them in order to be real. Conversely, remember too that too much introspection on your part will deprive you of your ability to share your views and yourself with others. Some level of extroverting is important because it forces The INFJ to become aware of the reality of others and you need to understand clearly what exists in the external world in order to bring about any kind of change. You share this need to make a difference with many other types and while INFJ’s are idealistic, there is no naiveté (or even thoughts of success) attached to the INFJ’s perception of the process.

If you are young and struggling, just realize that many INFJ’s spend the first half of their lives just trying to work out what it is they are actually perceiving and then trying to coordinate it into a coherent big picture. Unlike ST’s or NT’s who tend to focus primarily on detail the NF is always striving for the biggest picture possible that they can create. This is a big job and many INFJ’s only start to feel comfortable as they enter midlife.

Extroverted Feeling the Secondary function

Each personality type has one dominant and one secondary function. The secondary function for the INFJ is “extroverted feeling”. The dominant function will come naturally and easily to you but the secondary function will be harder and take much more effort. Our two best functions are meant to work together but because their attitudes are directly opposed, their integration initially creates inner conflict. The attempt to use both creates a certain amount of mental and emotional friction. We need this friction to stay conscious no matter what type we are. An unopposed dominant function leads to a one dimensional life and a vague sense of feeling incomplete.

In some ways, it is easier for the INFJ type to assimilate the secondary function because they experience conflict all the time between their inner and outer reality and between their individual self (which can feel very different from others) and their universal self which feels intensely connected to others.

Regardless of what type you are, if you get stuck in your dominant perspective (refuse to grow) you tend to start to lose touch with who you really are and what you want. The problem is rectified (regardless of whether you are an E or an I) by some level of introspection to find out what is truly important to you and not just rely on feedback from others.

As an INFJ, one of the greatest challenges is finding out what feelings coming in are yours and what are not. You’ll have already worked out that picking up others feelings will often cause you a considerable level of pain and discomfort. Because you do this, it’s a very important discipline for the INFJ to come to understand that taking on other peoples pain will only weaken and distract from any assistance you can give. You need to recognise the feelings as not yours as they flow in, and then learn to immediately release them so you can focus clearly and objectively on the problem. At the same time when something is yours, you must somehow articulate and own it. The idea of being emotionally vulnerable is frightening to an INFJ because there are no natural filters. This can and does result in becoming very self protective in certain situations but your innate understanding and ability to experience the feelings of others provides a universal bridge that gives a unique ability to find common ground in resolving difficult, conceptually challenging problems of all kinds in all walks of life.

As a general conclusion, INFJ’s can sometimes feel a bit sorry for themselves with all this going on but the truth is that each personality type will face different and just as difficult challenges. All of them in some way ask us to take responsibility for taking raw unformed talents and transforming them into something beautiful. Often we stubbornly won’t develop our secondary and tertiary functions until the price of that imbalance becomes greater than we can pay. In other words a crisis of some kind. When we feel in conflict or stuck, this is the prelude, if we allow it, to re evaluation of our usual coping mechanisms and to further typological growth which can lead to a happier and healthier life.

Drum Building Tips For Working With Drum Wraps

Drum building projects that use drum wraps are my favorite projects to work on. Why? Because the project moves along fast, there’s minimal effort for a maximum effect, and you can get really creative with stripes, custom drum wrap designs, color combinations, and more.

Not to mention, drum wraps are very tough. Knocking your kick drum on the door handle of the club isn’t as devastating with a wrap than it is when you have a nice high gloss lacquer. Chips and dents versus light scratches in a wrap? I’ll take the scratches!

When I was building for a major custom company, I was wrapping between three to five drum kits a day. So here’s some tips.

#1: My favorite option: Design Your Own Drum Set.

You can send custom designs and even your favorite fabric to get laminated. This is honestly the easiest drum building project to assure that the outcome is a 100% unique drum set. If you are a graphic designer, than you have no excuse!

#2: Sand Before Gluing

And you thought you could escape the sand paper! Sand the back of the drum wrap with #320 grit paper before applying your glue. This allows the glue to latch onto something… and helps with creating an unstoppable bond.

#3: Precise Drum Wrap Ordering

A common mistake with first time drum building ordering is NOT being precise enough when ordering your wrap pieces.

When you order, give exact widths and order the length of the drum wrap with a 1.5 ” overlap for all drums 16″ in diameter and under. Any projects with drums OVER 16″ need a full laminate sheet (54″), plus a patch piece.

To figure out your patch piece length… find the circumference of your drum shell, add 3″ to it and minus this number by 54. Always round up. For example, an 18″ drum would need a 6″ patch piece (do the math!!).

#4: Batch Your Drum Wrapping

If you haven’t heard me use the drum building term “batching”… it simply means to group all similar drum building activities together.

At one point when I was working for a big custom company, I was wrapping three to five drum kits in one day. That’s a lot of measuring, cutting, gluing, rolling, etc.

The solution? Batch all your activities! Whether or not you’re building for a company or doing it on a lesser scale… you’ll save a ton of time and hassle by batching your work.

For example, glue all the wraps at once. While they are drying, glue all the drum shells. Wrap all the shells, and then use the laminate roller on all the shells. Tape all the overlap seams, and then trim any wrap of the shells, etc.

#5: Use The J-Roller

An often overlooked step in drum building is the post drum wrap treatment. Most drum building gurus have huge laminate press’ to rid the drum of air bubbles and to help cement the bond of the wrap.

However, the same effect can be achieved with a hand-held J-Roller. Using a J-Roller around the drums with good pressure helps your drum building project tremendously. It helps avoid wrap warping, bubbling, sound deadening (tone is killed from air bubbles), and more.

#6: Let Them Do the Cuts

Let the suppliers that you order your wrap from cut your stripes. Letting them do the work cuts down the necessary tools in the drum building project and also guarantees that if someone messes up, it’s not you and it WILL be replaced.

But if you’re deep into some crazy drum building ideas and you want to cut wrap yourself…the straight edge cutting jig gets the job done.

#7: Wrap Your Tom and Snare Drum Hoops

A cool drum building trick is to wrap your wood hoops. You can do it with traditional wood hoops, wood hoops with t-rod holes, and regular triple flanged metal hoops (use a different glue like “Gorilla Glue”).

Exterior Home Painting: 3 Questions to Solve Your Dilemma

The decision to paint the exterior of your home is a nice way to improve the aesthetic appeal of the property. If you live in a cold region, change in temperatures can damage the siding as well as the exterior wooden structures. But, it does not mean that you have to undertake repair work every other year. If you take care of your home, you will be able to avoid expensive repairs in the future. If you want to protect your home, a good idea is to paint the walls and the wooden structures with good-quality paints.

If you are confused about painting your home, do not worry. You do not have to hire a home painting contractor immediately. Consider the condition of your home, your financial status and discuss the painting project with your family. Also, ask yourself the following questions to end your dilemma:

  1. When was the last time you painted the Exterior of the Home?

As the exterior part of any structure has to bear harsh weather and pollution, it requires care. And, an old painting job is not effective in providing adequate care.

If the wood siding of your home was painted 3 years ago, it is the best time to repaint it. It is because wood is susceptible to damage and can rot quickly. It is ideal to use a strong latex paint because it guarantees a durable and lasting finish on the wood siding. A paint job on the aluminum siding has an average lifespan of 5 years. So if your home has aluminum siding, make sure to consider the age of the paint job before making a decision.

  1. Does your Home provide a Nice Curb Appeal?

Visual impact is hard to beat when potential buyers are looking at residential properties. If you are thinking of selling your home, it is important to project a beautiful image of your property. Also, the exterior of a home is a good indicator of the well-being of the property. And, painting the exterior of your home is the cheapest way to create a positive impact on buyers.

  1. Does the Exterior of the Home need any Sort of Repairs?

The exterior of your home may be in dire need of repairs. But, if you ignore it, it can lead to major problems in the future. If you hire an experienced home painting contractor, he will able to highlight the problems effectively. He will not only paint your home but will also take care of minor repairs and replace damaged materials efficiently. It is like killing two birds with one stone!

Asking the right questions is a proper way of assessing the condition of your home. If you have come to the conclusion that your home needs a paint job, contact a professional. It is important to hire an expert home painting contractor because he will help you to finish the job efficiently.

Be a Honker: Motivate Your Team to Achievement with Honks of Encouragement

The Sandhill Crane fill the skies in Southeastern Colorado twice a year, once on their way in and once on their way out. Their similarities to Snow Geese often confuse onlookers, and strangers alike. However, as any child in Southeastern Colorado will tell you, they’re two different birds!

But, we won’t tell the kids, because I have a point about their similarities.

Both the long neck cranes and white geese gather in Southeastern Colorado to graze the leavings of corn farmers and soak up the warm autumn sun as they move south for the winter. Both of them return at the first hint of spring, gather up more gleanings after a bitter winter, and find sustenance among the tall dried grasses of the prairies that surround small lakes on the Western Plains.

Neither leaves a straggler behind. Geese and Cranes travel in flocks that fly in a V formation. The irony is that both birds have learned certain values that make them unique.

Leadership is a community effort.

Geese and cranes rotate the bird at the point of the V to reduce stress on the lead bird. By rotating the position, everyone gets a chance to lead, nobody gets too tired, and the birds eventually get where they want to go.

Leadership must be strong.

In order to keep the flock moving, the bird in front must be able to withstand the turbulent of life and keep flying forward. The birds know storms will come, and they do, but the birds must keep flying in the direction of their destination. Strong leaders keep them going in the right direction.

Leaders need encouragement.

As the birds fly over, you hear this curious honking sound that keeps going as long as the birds are in flight. They honk to encourage each other. They honk continuously, no matter how long they are in flight, some of the birds are honking. When the leader drops out of formation, he honks too.

Only the leader of the flock is not honking. His energy is kept for flying.

I do want to point this out too. The leader stops honking when he’s leading. The reason for this is that he has to take time to listen to those following him to know where they want to go and that he’s going the right direction.

I want to encourage each of you to be an encourager. Set out each day to motivate others to accomplish their goals and you will accomplish your goals too.

What Is Cable Ducting and Why Is Concrete the Best Solution?

What is cable ducting and why is it necessary in construction? Cable ducting is usually for electrical conduit purposes, that is, an electrical piping system. Electronics industries depend on the construction industry to provide a safe route underground route for electric wiring.

Cable ducting is generally done by electricians after the route has been constructed. Traditionally, materials like metal, plastic, fired clay and fiber have been used for electrical conduit tasks. However, concrete is quickly becoming a popular alternative. Why so? We know that concrete has some advantages when it comes to durability, but what else are we missing? How does the system work?

Underground cable ducting and troughs benefit railway companies, roads, and other power industries. These conduits are large in diameter and may be installed underground between buildings. A collection of these conduits is called a duct bank, which may actually be inside of the ground or inside a concrete base. What is the advantage of using a concrete duct bank?

This allows for easy replacement of damaged cables between buildings without having to excavate the entire trench. Unfortunately, PVC and plastics are commonly used for conduit and cable purposes, despite the fact that they are cheap and unreliable. What are some other advantages of using concrete cable ducting solutions?

Besides their easy accessibility, these projects are also affordable and are completely non-conductive to electricity. Furthermore, concrete is resistant to chemicals. When you use concrete ducting, the cables of the operation are buried at such a great depth that they are completely safe from weather changes. Extremely cold or extremely hot temperatures are no longer a concern here. Under ground, everything is protected from the surface of the earth.

It should go without saying that concrete is highly durable, more so than plastic or even steel. This method of ducting also provides splicing and allows for easy updates to the system. Cable ducting can help companies to encase power, as well as all sorts of cable, like fiber optic or pneumatic cable.

How do you go about choosing a company to work with? Be sure to choose a provider that can produce specialist units (tailor made to your cable wiring needs) and get the troughs molded to your specific requirements. Remember, one of concrete’s best qualities is its adaptability. You can form anything from concrete. It is also environmentally friendly. It is indeed an ideal solution to underground electrical work and cable ducting.
