Solar Geysers – Cost Effective Water Heating

The cost of electricity per unit has sky rocketed in recent years and shows no sign of going down in the years to come. This is mainly due to the resources used to create this electricity are becoming depleted and the cost of running power stations are extremely high. Most household appliances do not consume a lot of electricity, but unfortunately one of the most important components in our households do, sometimes our geysers. Accounting for more than eighty percent of our power usage in a day, the geyser has become somewhat of a luxury in many households. The answer to this problem is the solar geyser.

Harnessing energy from the sun, the solar geyser has to be one of the most cost effective ways of bringing down those exuberant electricity bills while also going green at the same time. Saving our country's natural resources is one of the largest factors nowdays when manufacturing and developing new ideas. With a solar geyser this was one of the driving factors behind this wonderful cost effective idea. This is why more and more people are now investing in this technology as they realize the importance of saving our environment while saving costs at the same time.

A solar water heater consists of three major parts, a solar collector, which collects the sun's rays, a transfer medium, in a direct solar water heater system this water and in an indirect system it is a mixture of water and glycol. Glycol is used to prevent the water from freezing in extremely cold temperatures and the storage container, like conventional geysers is insulated. The solar geyser storage container is however larger and has more insulation than the conventional geyser. This thus increases the containers heat retention.

These storage containers can be mounted either vertically or horizontally on top of one's roof but in order to gain the most benefit of the sun's rays it is suggested that the vertical position be determined on.
