Excel Tips – 3 Ways To Protect Your Excel Formulas

In this article I want to share with you 3 ways to protect your Excel formulas.

So, you have spent a long time preparing your Excel spreadsheet solution, and I bet you do not want anyone to mess up those formulas you have so lovingly created. So, there are a few ways to protect some of those most vulnerable parts of your Excel spreadsheet.

My top 3 ways to protect your Excel Formulas !!

  1. Hide the Formulas.
  2. Lock The Cells That Contain Formulas.
  3. Hide The Formula Bar With Some Simple VBA.

1.Hide The Formulas.

This method will temporarily hide your formulas , but you will be able to use them again if you need to. It's simple and straight forward. Here we go.

Select all of the cells that contain formulas that you want to hide.

  • Home Tab – Cells Group – Format – Format Cells
  • Navigate to the Protection Tab
  • Check the Hidden option and hit OK

This does not in itself hide your formulas, you need to then protect your worksheet to ensure these settings work.

  • Select Review Tab
  • Changes Group
  • Select Protect Sheet
  • Enter a password and confirm password when prompted
  • That's all you need to do.

Try selecting the a cell that contains a formula. The formula will not be visible in the formula bar. If you want to see the formulas again simply unprotect your worksheet.

2. Lock The Cells That Contain Formulas.

The second method is to just lock the cells that contain formulas so they can not be selected or edited by users. By default all cells in a work book are locked, so you will need to unlock them all to start with.

  • Hit CTRL + A to select all of the cells on the worksheet
  • Home Tab – Cells Group -Format – Format Cells
  • Untick Locked, to unlock all of the cells on the worksheet
  • Hit OK

Now all we need to do find all of the cells that contain formulas …

  • Hit F5 to bring up the GoTo Dialog Box
  • Select Special – Formulas – Hit OK
  • All of the cells that contain formulas will be highlighted

Then we need to lock those highlighted cells …

  • Home Tab – Cells Group -Format – Format Cells
  • Navigate to the Protection Tab
  • Check the Locked option and hit OK

This does not in itself lock your formulas, you need to then protect your worksheet to ensure these settings work.

  • Select Review Tab
  • Changes Group
  • Select Protect Sheet
  • Enter a password and confrm password when prompted
  • That's all you need to do.

3. Hide The Formula Bar With Some Simple VBA

My third method of hiding your formulas is to actually hide the formula bar on the Excel worksheet. This is easily achieved by a very small piece of VBA coding or an Excel Macro.

This macro uses the Application Object and we are looking to use the DisplayFormulaBar property of it.

To use this small piece of coding, you need to insert it into a module in your Excel workbook.

  • Open Visual Basic – by hitting F11 or Developer Tab – Visual Basic – Click Modules, and Add New Module.

Here is the VBA code if you want to copy it. Just paste it into a module you have created as per the instructions above.

Sub HideFormulaBar ()

Application.DisplayFormulaBar = False

End Sub

Just as we have hidden the formula bar we can easily write some VBA to show the formula bar again

Sub ShowFormulaBar ()

Application.DisplayFormulaBar = True

End Sub

In this instance we set the Application.DisplayFormulaBar to TRUE to display the formula bar.

I use all of these methods in my Excel spreadsheets depending on which I feel is most appropriate for that project I am working on for example it maybe not always appropriate to hide the formula bar even if some calculations are still needed to be seen, so I would just hide the sensitive formulas in that case. if it is a purely visual Dashboard solution then hiding the formula bar not only gives room on the Excel display area, but it always makes for a very neat and tidy visual for the Dashboard presentation.

Sports Education in Jamaica – The New Way to Go

The Jamaican education system has paved the way enabling the island's Olympic gold glory. Through its physical education syllabus and its dedicated physical education teachers we now reap the benefits. The coaches are also to be commended for their dedication and effort in supporting athletes, helping them to stay focus. To be an Olympic medalist is what every parent dreams for his / her son or daughter, When Husain Bolt, Asafa Powel, Melaine Walker, Veronica Campbell, Shelly Ann Frazer, all won Olympic gold medals In Beijing the world was surprised, Jamaicans on the other hand were happy not surprised. There is a history of producing medal winners in track events going as far back as the London Games of 1948.

Jamaica will always be seen as a gold mine for athletics. The world may wonder at our success and what is the secret, some even implying that our athletes do drugs. I recommend Jamaica as the ideal place to educate your child and if s / he has athletic talent it is one of the best places to develop that talent. The hilly terrain is good practicing ground to develop muscles, strengthening heart and lung. capacity Many of our talents in track and field are those who have ran miles over hilly terrains. The yellow yam was given as one reason why Jamaicans can run. The sickle cell trait that many Jamaicans possess and team work were also given as reasons for success in tract and field.

For such a small third world country Jamaica has a tradition of performance in track and field as in Merlene Ottey, Donald arry, Author Wint, and many others who have gone before. Jamaica has what is considered raw talent, pushed by motivation and a culture of competitive spirit, all go to make the Jamaican athlete shine. One very important factor for the country's success is, Jamaica has one of the best organized track and field program in the world. Although restrained by funding, the country still promotes track and field from as early as kindergarten. In Jamaica we train body and mind to achieve. Each year we look forward to which new athlete will better a Usain, or a Veronica. All year round if you follow the country's sport calendar you will realize that there are always some sporting activities taking place all across the island geared at preparing our athletes.

There is the yearly sport day for all kindergarten and primary schools, high schools and college; at these events students compete among themselves in organized house meets. Next there is the parish inter school sports. From these the best are chosen for the all island sports meets such as The JTA primary and all age schools meet and Boys and Girls Champs for high schools. The foundations for this fast running show was laid long ago in 1910, when Champs, an event designed to discover and develop the best school sprinters, was launched. There is the intercollegiate and university sports with special emphasis on track and field geared to keep Jamaican athletes trained in Jamaica to represent the country instead of performing for other countries like the USA and Canada. After these elimination and screening we arrived at our best, selected to be trained, and to compete on the international stage. This is the point that athletes with raw talent are monitored by the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association. With the correct funding Jamaican will continue to collect glory medals internationally.

Erectile Dysfunction and Nutrition – The Top 9 Super Foods Essential for Boosting Erections

Erectile Dysfunction affects millions of men around the world, and for many suffers, the problem is physiological. This is usually the result of an unhealthy lifestyle, and from conditions such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The good news is that through lifestyle changes, the causes of erectile function can be reversed. One of the principal ways of doing this is through diet. This article suggests 10 super foods that are essential for maintaining optimum sexual health.

1. Lean red meat

The protein in lean red meat naturally boosts levels of dopamine, the brain chemical primarily responsible for enhancing sex drive, mood, alertness, and movement. Meat is also high in zinc, which boosts libido by reducing production of the hormone prolactin. (Too much prolactin acts to suppress production of testosterone).

2. Liver

Liver is a good source of glutamine, which is essential for your immune system to function. Liver may also increase a slowed-down libido. Ounce for ounce, liver is among the best sources of fertility-boosting vitamin A. Men who get plenty of vitamin A each day have higher sperm counts and perform better sexually than men who don’t.

3. Eggs

Egg yolks contain cholesterol, which are important building blocks for testosterone. Eating raw eggs is one of the most direct ways of increasing testosterone and ultimately enhancing the male libido. Eggs are also one of the most significant sources of vitamin A, which aids sperm count. Eggs are also high in vitamins B6 and B5. These vitamins help balance hormone levels and fight stress, two things that are crucial to a healthy libido.

4. Fish and Seafood

Raw oysters: Long regarded as an aphrodisiac, oysters are high in zinc, which raises sperm and testosterone production. Oysters also contain dopamine, which is known to increase libido.

Salmon, mackerel, trout and tuna: these oily fish are high in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are essential for a health immune and circulatory system. The omega-3 fats found in salmon have a broad array of beneficial cardiovascular effects. Omega-3s assist against clotting of the arteries by improving the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol. Oily fish are also a rich source of selenium and zinc which are needed for peak sexual health.

5. Almonds

These nuts have an abundance of nutrients. They are a prime source of monounsaturated fats, which reduced the risk of heart disease, by acting to lower LDL (the bad cholesterol). They are also high in Vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant. Almonds are also a rich source of magnesium, which helps to improve the flow of blood, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.

6. Peanuts (the best natural way to increase production of nitric oxide!)

Contrary to what their name implies, peanuts are not true nuts but a member of the legume family, and are related to peas, lentils, chickpeas and other beans. However regardless of whether they are a bean or a nut, peanuts have been described as “dietary Viagra“. Peanuts are rich in L-arginine, which causes vasodilatation in blood vessels. L-arginine is a precursor of nitric oxide, which is responsible for inducing smooth muscle relaxation. Research has shown that the levels of L-arginine are higher in peanuts, weight for weight, than in any other common nut or legume. Additionally, peanuts are a very good source of monounsaturated fats, and feature an array of other nutrients that have been shown to promote heart health. Peanuts are also excellent sources of vitamin E, niacin, folate, protein and manganese.

7. Wheat Germ

Wheat germ is the vitamin and mineral rich embryo of the wheat kernel that is removed during the refining of whole wheat grains to white flour. It is packed with important B vitamins, such as folate, thiamin, and vitamin B6, and the minerals zinc, magnesium, and manganese. Zinc of course is essential to the healthy functioning of the reproductive system. Wheat germ also has a high amount of vitamin E, a powerful fat-soluble antioxidant in the human body which helps protect fat-containing substances in the body from damage by free radicals. Vitamin E is therefore an important element in a healthy cardiovascular system, which is essential for sexual potency.

8. Oats

Via their high fiber content, oats are one of the best cereals to reduce cholesterol levels, thereby helping to unclog the arteries and improve blood flow. Oats, oat bran, and oatmeal contain a specific type of fiber known as beta-glucan, which has been shown in numerous studies to significantly reduce cholesterol levels. Oats also contain a unique antioxidant compound, called avenanthramides, which helps prevent free radicals from damaging LDL cholesterol, thus further reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

9. Pine Nuts

These nuts (actually seeds of the pine tree) are rich in zinc, and have been used as an aphrodisiac throughout the Mediterranean and the East. The Roman poet, Ovid, included pine nuts in his list of aphrodisiacs. The Perfumed Garden, (an ancient Arabic love manual), contains many references to pine nuts including this prescription to restore a man’s sexual vigor: “A glass of thick honey, plus 20 almonds and 100 pine nuts repeated for three nights.”

Why Choose For End Of Lease Cleaning Services?

Tenants do have to face a lot of problems. Almost every tenant goes through the similar problems, like searching for a new house, meeting the dealers to help find a quality option, necessary logistics for the travel and shift. There are so many things to look for when choosing a home for rent, interior, design, furniture, etc. This involves a lot of money, amidst which you also have to take care to get back the bond money back, that you would have submitted to the landlord as security money. A sum equivalent to the amount of six months' rent or similar is submitted at the beginning itself, which is a big amount. There are many things to be attended before the tenants can get the complete amount back.

To make sure that the following is being returned to the landlord in the similar condition it is necessary to avail end of lease cleaning services from the experts. There are many spots and areas coagulated with dirt, which can not be cleaned using common products; and the specialized products should only be used by the ones who have proper knowledge about the exact quantities to be taken. · Complete cleaning can be easily performed without any disruption or disturbance caused to the people residing in the place.

· Possible disputes for money between the renter and rentee can be avoided.

End of lease cleaning is a great way to get the security amount spared from the hands of landlords.

Hardwood Floor Vs Laminate

The flooring is among the most essential features of your home making just any room fit for its purposes. Other than its utilitarian qualities, it is also among the most important interior design element that captures the preferred ambiance from which other décor and additional furnishings are based on. Thus, choosing the best flooring for your New York home is among the most major decisions homeowners have to make either for a new construction or floor replacement project. This article compares two of the most popular choices when it comes to flooring with insights ideal whether you are in Manhattan, Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island.

Especially in older homes of the rich, hardwood is a common material utilized for the luxurious warmth that it offers both in look and feel. With proper care, its unsurpassed beauty and exquisite appeal can be enjoyed from generation to generation. These past few decades, home building and remodeling materials have undergone a lot of revolution with the advances in technology. One hardwood alternative that has been gaining popularity is laminate. Once just an imitation of its more expensive counterparts, modern laminate products now boasts of enhanced durability.

To know whether hardwood floor or laminate is the best choice for you and your New York home, here are the major considerations in the selection and the pros and cons of both flooring types:

Look and Feel

When it comes to look, a lot of people may be fooled at first glance. Laminates are synthetic flooring that simulates other materials perfectly because of its photograph appliqué layer. But other than the look, hardwood floor possesses other such tracks that laminate lacks including its inherent warmth and more comfort when walking.

Cost and Installation

Cost is probably the area where you've found the greatest difference when it comes to comparing these floor types. Laminate flooring ranges from $ 7 per square foot to the more durable averaging $ 11. Manufactured in inter-lock design, installation is easier and the material can be laid over almost all kinds of sub-flooring. Hardwood on the other hand, would start around $ 11 and the price increases depending on the style, finish and the rarity of timber. Its installation is best done by a qualified contractor due to the advanced skills on carpentry and precision in cutting that the project requires.

Maintenance

When it comes to cleaning, both flooring will require regular sweeping and mopping. But hardwood will need more care in preserving its protective finish and appeal. Through time; stains, moisture and scratches will take their toll and make your floor look worn but sanding it down and refinishing will make it achieve its former glory again and again. Other than the low cost, laminate is popular for its resistance to scratch, stain and spills but once chipped, it can be irreparable.

Home Value

While hardwood could never beat laminate when it comes to cost, the boost to home value that you would enjoy is considerable. Hardwood is a favorite of both realtors and many homeowners for the good value that it adds to your home, making your investments payback in time. This makes up for a great choice when it comes to remodeling investments.

List Building Strategies And Tips

If you've been searching online for list building strategies and tips, you're probably feeling pretty overwhelmed right about now. There's a lot of information out there, and it can get quite confusing. If you're looking for link building strategies that really work, the following information will help.

A Three-Step Process

There are three primary steps to great list building: creating an opt-in box or lead capture page, getting it out to a large audience and prompting people to sign up. Those three steps are the foundation of today's best list building strategies, but you need to carry out each step in the right way. Specific details about making the most of each step are outlined below.

Step One: Creating an Opt-In Box or Lead Capture Page

You can not successfully build a list without creating an opt-in box or lead capture page first. After all, you need to know what people will be clicking on in order to market it properly. There's a lot of advice out there about completing this step, and it does not really belong in this particular post. At any rate, you're going to need to design this element before you can dig into the actual list building.

Step Two: Drawing in a Large Audience

In order to build a great list, you need a lot of traffic. It pays to study up on traffic generation tips. If people are not coming to your lead capture page, you can not hope to develop a great list. Fortunately, there are several great ways to bring traffic to your opt-in box. A few of the simplest ones include:

  • Social Media Marketing – It's free to join and use social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. These sites make it easy to reach out to a huge audience too. Out of all the list building strategies that I'll share with you, this one is a no-brainer. Get involved in social media marketing and watch your traffic soar.
  • Article Writing – People go online to get information. Why should not you give it? Submit articles to online article directories. Include links to your lead capture page on them. Over time, these articles will draw in considerable amounts of traffic.
  • Video Marketing – You do not need a studio to create a great video. You just need the video to draw people to your lead capture page, so go for it.

Step Three: Compelling People to Sign Up

After getting people to your page, you need to get them to act. To that end, list building strategies and tips like including a free offer or incentive, offering an e-book for download and engaging in cross-promotion are all worthwhile options to consider. It only takes a second for a person to submit their email address, but they need a compelling reason to do so. As with traffic generation tips, there are many possibilities to consider. You can start with something basic like a free sample and branch out later.

By keeping these three important steps in mind, your list building efforts are sure to pay off handsomely. Put them to work right away.

The Importance of Flexibility for Gymnastics

You have to be flexible to be successful in gymnastics for three main reasons:

  • There are some skills that you just won’t be able to do if you are not flexible enough.
  • There are some ways to learn skills that can only be done if you are flexible.
  • And, there are many skills that look good only if you are flexible.

    Flexibility Speeds Learning!

Most top level training programs require that you meet minimum gymnastics flexibility (and strength) requirements because it speeds the learning process when you are flexible enough to learn any skill and keeps gymnasts from developing bad habits from working skills incorrectly.

    Flexibility Can Be Improved!

Flexibility is fortunately one of those physical attributes that can be improved simply by spending time working on it. In general, the more time spent the more flexible you become.

    Train Both Statically and Dynamically

There are two types of flexibility most commonly used in gymnastics training – static and dynamic – and those are also two of the ways you can work on your flexibility. An example of static flexibility is sitting in splits. Split leaps are an example of dynamic or active flexibility. Other examples of static and active flexibility are kicks (active) and scales (static).

    Body Weight Stretching

In splits, not only are you static, but the weight of your body can also help push down your splits. A backbend is also a static flex position but your body weight doesn’t help the stretching effort.

    Strength at Full Range

Strength through the whole range of flexibility is often important in gymnastics. Even if a gymnast is able to kick their leg to a 180 degree split to the back does not mean they are strong enough at that degree of flexibility to hold their leg at 180 degree separation in a scale.

    Shoulder Flexibility Equally Important

While leg flexibility primarily contributes to the appearance of dance skill on floor and beam, shoulder flexibility is important in the correct execution of acro skills on every event.

    Develop Flexibility Evenly

In both shoulder and leg flexibility, even bi-lateral (left and right side) flexibility development is a requirement. Inflexible gymnasts sometimes develop habits like turning to their more flexible side when they do front and back walkovers. This habit is a disaster for beam consistency, not to mention an unattractive way to do those skills.

Be Creative and Do Whatever You Have To Do

Flexibility is one of the few aspects of gymnastics you can work outside of the gym. Many gymnasts have found interesting ways to work on their splits and flexibility. Some gymnasts sit in splits whenever they watch TV. Some gymnasts never bend their legs when they bend over to pick up things off the floor to improve their pike flexibility. We have even heard of gymnasts who have slept in their splits.

    Judges Will Notice Excellent Flexibility

Judges will take special notice of gymnasts who have 180 degree plus split leaps and jumps, even though 180 degrees (or less in compulsories) is all that is usually required. So if you to not only want to avoid deductions, but want to gain general impression points for being extra flexible, work your splits.

  • Green Glue Instead of Insulation For Soundproofing

Old School soundproofing still believes that batt insulation is a good soundproofing agent. There are some good sound batt insulations out there such as Roxul AFB and Bonded logic's bonded cotton insulation and they work well for both soundproofing and thermal protection, however no batt insulation is strong enough to stand alone as the sole soundproofing material in a wall ceiling or floor assembly.

If you can afford a good batt insulation I always encourage it, but if you are soundproofing as ceiling and are not really concerned about the thermal aspects of the ceiling then I feel adding drywall pieces cut to fit perfectly into the joist cavities and screwed to the sub floor above would be much more effective than any batt insulation. Now to super charge this application I recommend that before you screw the pieces of drywall to the sub floor you apply Green Glue sound dampening compound to the back of the drywall pieces prior to screwing them to the bottom of the sub floor.

Green Glue is a visco elastic damping compound that is taking the soundproofing industry by storm. It comes in caulk tubes and is applied using a large quart size caulk gun. Basically you would cut the pieces of drywall to fit snuggly between the joist cavities. You would the liberally apply the Green Glue to the backside of the cut drywall and then screw it to the bottom of the sub floor. The Green Glue will be sandwiched between the drywall and the bottom of the sub floor. The tighter you screw the drywall down, the better the soundproofing will be. In essence, the pieces of drywall sporting the Green Glue in their backs with become a most effective sound damping system that will dampen the impact noise from above long before it is able to be transmitted into the joists and entirely into the ceiling below. Now, is more better in this case? Absolutely, if you are able to double or triple the Green Glued layer of drywall you will indeed increase the dampening ability of the drywall and the sub floor and add greatly to the soundproofing endeavor.

Once you have installed your layers of Green Glued drywall pieces into the joist cavities, now there would be a good time to install your sound or thermal batt insulation.

Now for our finished drywall ceiling, I recommend that we spend the money for 2 layers of 5/8 "drywall. the first layer however, you guessed it, I recommend that you apply 3 tubes of Green Glue to each 4 'X 8' sheet of drywall that you put up. Detect a lack of annoying noise coming from the people above. You have soundproofed your ceiling and your neighbors and do not even have a clue that there was a problem there. floors in subsequent articles, for now this is Dr. Bob …. Out!

    The Dangers of Drinking Coffee

If you drink coffee because you think you need to in order to rev or pep you up daily, especially if you work in corporate America, here are some things to think about relating to this liquid drug that is the number one cause of cancer of the esophagus:

The first thing you should think about is – why would you drink something that is so hot that if you stuck your finger in it, it would burn the hell out of you? If it burns your finger, what do you think it does to your tissues and cells through your body? Hot beverages destroy (kill) your cells, ie cancer!

Coffee is a stimulant to the central nervous system. Drinking coffee inhibits the release of natural brain opiates (that make you feel good and counteracts pain). Women need all the natural brain opiates their bodies can muster up, especially around the menstrual period and not to mention childbirth (which is very painful due to the inordinate decrease of opiates in the modern American woman). Coffee may rev you up for a while, but is sure to bring down as well (making you crave more of it, after all, it is a drug, at least in the state that we use it today). Excessive consumption of coffee causes shaking and trembling of the hands due to nervousness. Coffee greatly impairs the nervous system.

Coffee also kills the adrenal glands. Nearly everyone in America has shot-out adrenal glands!

Coffee revs up these glands, but also brings them down. Anything that goes up and then down taxes the body.

Coffee contains the stimulant caffeine. This is dead caffeine, unlike bio-active caffeine found in green tea, black tea, yerba mat, guarana, and kola nut. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant that is followed by a depressed phase resulting in exhaustion, nervousness, irritability, fatigue, and often headache. Caffeine constricts blood vessels of the brain and causes reduced flow of blood which cuts the oxygen supply to the brain, resulting in gradual brain damage. It also increases your heartbeat 15% and makes your lungs work 13 times harder than normal. It very plays a role in fatigue as well.

The volatile oil in caffeine called caffeol is an irritant to the lining of the stomach and causes poor digestion.

Another chemical in this liquid drug is caffeine-tannic acid. This chemical is used in tanning leather. It is an irritating astringent to the cells lining the stomach and intestines and also destroys the pepsin in the gastric (stomach) juice needed to digest protein.

Coffee is a drug! Do you know why coffee is freely given in corporate America? Because it makes people work and perform efficiently by speeding up the brain so that jobs can get the best productivity out of their workers (slaves). People mainly drink coffee in the morning, at least 3 cups (over 400+ mg of caffeine) by noon. But by noon, they are mentally shot and drained, which explains why job productivity decrees around noontime in America. The workers will then get their caffeine kick or hit from drinking soda pop (coke, pepsi, etc.) and / or eating chocolate, which is also why you see these vending machines that sell sodas and chocolates in corporate America.

If you want to get something out of people, just give them some caffeine. Coffee, chocolate, cigarettes, and soda all have caffeine. When investigators or police want to obtain information from people, what do they offer people? A cup of coffee and a cigarette!

In wars, what do American soldiers give the children of the countries they are fighting in and against (especially when they want information)? Chocolate bars!

Most restaurants and diners offer you a cup of coffee for starters. Why? Because coffee clears the palate (taste buds) and sense of olfaction (smell), as well as make your stomach crave food so that you will become hungry, be able to smell the food, and taste the substance of the food once you begin to eat the food. Why do you think they have you smell coffee beans in a jar at aromatherapy shops? To clear your olfaction (sense of smell) so you can smell the various oils.

Did you know that early Arab Muslims used to give the potential or prospective Muslim convert and warrior free coffee at lectures, to get them to join Islam and fight in so-called holy wars (jihad) for the cause of Islam?

The Arabs had the market on coffee sealed. When Europeans first got their hands and taste buds on coffee, they went crazy. Europeans wanted to start a market for coffee in Europe but the Arabs were not having that! Certain European merchants began to start secretly exporting coffee out of Africa and Arabia (where coffee originated), and importing it into Europe. The Europeans did not want the Arabs to know what they were doing with their drug (coffee), so once the Europeans got the coffee into their country, they began to refer to it by code names, such as Java, Mocha, and cappucino, which are all names of countries where European merchants were exporting coffee from. Java is an island in Indonesia. Mocha is a city in Yemen, Arabia. Cappucino derives its name from the Italian city Capuchin (all Arab Muslim strongholds). The word coffee itself derives its name from kaf, the Ethiopian name for coffee.

A great alternative to drinking coffee is Teeccino herbal coffee, made of roasted carob, barley, chicory root, figs, dates, orange peel and almonds. It is very delicious and tastes just like coffee if not better. You can find it (and other tastes) at most health food stores such as Whole Food Market (1-800-SHOP-WFM).

Herbal teas such as guarana, kola nut, and yerba mate are also excellent alternatives to coffee and includes bio-active caffeine which is not deleterious to the body.

The herbs borage, basil, licorice, ginseng, astragalus, and fo ti are great for restoring the adrenal glands.

    Thank you for reading!

What Is a Fire Assembly Point and Why Must a Business Designate It?

When fire breaks out in premises, the most important thing is for people to get to safer locations as soon as possible. Fire outbreaks can cause serious injuries and also loss of life. Building fire safety is never clearly understood until that time when fire strikes. There is a need for all persons in the workplace or even in households to clearly understand what a fire assembly point is? This is because; a successful evacuation and fire safety plan is partly determined by how people respond by getting to safer locations when fire breaks out.

In a bid to understand What a fire assembly point is?, it is important to point out that it is not just a safe location within the workplace or household but it is a specially designated open location where people can congregate in the event of a fire. This point should be easy to reach and also free from dangers of the fire. The main reason why people need to get to the fire assembly point is because it helps identify any missing persons.

It is important that fire assembly signs be well designed with clear visibility. They should be able to guide the persons to safety without any problem. In Britain, there were reportedly 388 fire related deaths in 2010-11, and this implies that fires are still a challenge to many households and business premises with the risk of being able to take away life.

There are different ways in which the effects of fires can be managed and use of fire safety signs is one of them. There are also different fire safety signs, which can be used and these may range from prohibitive signs, descriptive signs, and warning signs, to directional signs. When workers and home occupants understand the importance of a fire assembly point and which signs show this critical safety location, they are able to respond fast in the event of an outbreak of fire.

When fire safety signs are installed, there is need for them to be maintained as part of the safety plans, businesses can organize training and education sessions to help the people understand all signs in the premises, where they are placed and what they represent. Where possible, a mock fire safety escape can be carried out to gauge how prepared a business is and how well the workers can respond to fire outbreaks.

This can easily bring out any notable weaknesses in the state of the signage and also the understanding of the different fire safety elements such as the fire fighting equipment and their usage. In addition, with such mock fire safety assessments, the emergency response team can evaluate whether people really know where the fire assembly points are.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, brings out a clear definition of the different safety signs and how they are applied. There is also regulatory information about the design and use of these signs. The dedicated colors, which are mandated by the law, are prescribed. When you get signs designed and installed by professional designers, you ensure that you are compliant with the law and that people can easily understand the signs and their usage.

Islamic Art – How Did it Begin?

Islamic Art that evolved the time followed the death of the Prophet (PBUH) was mostly described in the architectural manner. This form emerged in countries where ever Islam prevailed and personified the Muslim precepts in its motifs and themes. As the wings of Islam spread from Africa to Egypt and from Spain to Persia, it gained strength and substance. The origins lay in its rich and artistic Arabian heritage as different kinds of art were utilized to express the unqueness of Islam without any form of pictorial depictions.

Islamic art was developed over time by a unique blend of various arts from the Byzantines, the Copts, the Romans, and the Persians. Therein lays the greatest asset of this art, its skill to fuse the native designs with imported ones to achieve a completely distinct end result. The one common factor in all kinds of Islamic art is the abstract embellishments and designs. Most utilized the curved and interlacing lines in bright and vibrant colors to enhance the various styles. The finest pieces of this art and architecture throughout the world are clearly distinguishable by the vivacious colors in floral designs.

The current form of such art is believed to have emerged during the rule of the Umayyad caliphate (661-750). Thereafter, many divergent periods of Islamic art and architecture transpired. Therefore, this art is most commonly classified according to the reigning empire when the art work was created. Most museums and art galleries have categorized their collections by the different Muslim dynasties including the Umayyad, Abbasid, Safavid, Ottoman and Mughal.

As Islam is a diverse religion that encompasses people of various ethnic backgrounds, the Islamic art is also much diversified to accommodate all ethnicities of its followers. It has the ability to unify various elements into a beautiful piece depicting the many facets of the artist. Islamic art avoids any form of human or animal representation in it. This is because of the Muslim belief that no one can replicate the work of Allah. Thus all art is invariable found in the form of floral, geometric and abstract shapes and lines. Many good books are also available for those who are interested in learning more about its history and descent through time to its current version. World travelers notice the specific regional features of Islamic art vary from terrain to terrain to encompass that particular place's history into it.

Playing the Bones of the Xylophone

The xylophone was first created in Indonesia and is a member of the percussion family. The instrument has a set of different sized bars that are made out of wood and are each made to make a particular note when stuck. The different bars are stuck with wood, rubber or plastic mallets to make different sounds. This particular percussion instrument has been around for thousands of years. This has been proven by artifacts found from as far back as 2000 BC. Throughout history, there have also been other variations of xylophones made, including ones that were made and used by ancient temples in China.

It must also be noted that xylophones are not always created in a single row of low notes to high notes. There have been xylophones found that have the bars hanging, where the musician will strike the vertical bars with the mallet. Michael Gusikov played a xylophone that had three rows of the bars located in the shape of a triangle. It would appear that like many other instruments, the xylophone went through a number of changes and modifications over time.

While it is uncertain when exactly the xylophone made it to Europe, it is suggested that it could have arrived there sometime during the 1500s. Although, it was not until the early 1800s that people in the west were becoming familiar with the xylophone. Michael Josef Gusikov can be credited with making the instrument known. He had an interest in the instrument and performed with the xylophone around Europe on tours. It was not long before this musician became known for his music and gained some decent recognition for it. In fact, there were other well- known musicians who spoke well of the Michael Gusikov's performances, including Frederic Chopin, who was a well-known pianist.

When most people think about playing an instrument, few will immediately think of the xylophone; instead, many will think about taking up guitar, piano, or saxophone before thinking of playing something like the xylophone. Xylophones are not an overly common instrument in the western world and are forgotten as a result, though this is not to say that no one plays it. Many people play the xylophone because they enjoy the sound and they are aware of the unique and natural sound it has. The xylophone is sometimes best known by the sharp and bright tone the bars have when stuck with the mallet, especially the modern xylophones that have been created with resonating tubes placed under the wooden bars to enhance the sound of each note. The frames of the xylophone are made of wood or steel tubing and the more expensive, higher end models have the ability to have their height adjusted to fit the musician.

The higher quality xylophones also have more stability, while the cheaper ones do not have as much stability. Musicians who are serious about playing the xylophone in concerts and other performances will most likely spend more money on the higher quality instruments, while younger students who are simply looking to try it out will go for the cheaper, used xylophones.

Alternative Operating Systems for Mobile Devices

Undoubtedly, Android has a greater advantage over iOS in terms of extending the functionality of mobile devices. Android has a host of applications that add more features to what the phone of tablet can do by default. Moreover, the installation of mobile apps provides third-party providers easy access to users when delivering their services. For instance, feed apps provide daily updates in real-time to users who read the news and weather reports using their mobile device. However, Android and Apple's proprietary operating system are not the only firmware available to users.

Ubuntu for Android Phones and Tablets

The default Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean operating system in Android phones was developed from a Linux-based architecture. Although they perform well according to the hardware's specifications, users who prefer an operating system similar to the one they have in their desktop computers or laptops can get Ubuntu for mobile use. Versions 12.x or higher of this Linux distro have been re-engineered to function with touch screens and run efficiently on portable electronic devices.

Ubuntu for Android works effectively on multi-core high-end phones and tablets. Users can open multiple tabs in browsers and open multiple applications at the same time. Plus, the tablet or smartphone can handle two workspaces together, too, just like with a desktop computer. Through over-the-air updates, the firmware gets upgraded with the latest version and allows more applications to work efficiently on its system. The software comes with default applications, such as the Ubuntu Music Player, Chromium Web browser, Google Calendar, Thunderbird E-mail client, Google Docs, VLC Player, Ubuntu Photo Gallery, PiTiVi, Gwibber and Android dialer.

    Symbian Belle for Nokia Smartphones

Nokia has been a leader in the mobile industry. Most phone users probably started with a Nokia than any other brand. However, the advances in mobile technology have shifted user preferences towards phones with operating systems that developers can create applications for quickly. This is why Android took the lead from iOS within a few years. This also means that Nokia must also change along with the trends.

In response, the company has developed Nokia Belle, which is the latest firmware update for their smartphones that operate on Symbian S60, which includes Nokia N7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia E7, Nokia X7, Nokia E6, and Nokia 500 . Owners of these units may upgrade to Belle through the desktop suite or through their network provider. After the update, the new OS allows up to six home screens that can be customized with dynamic and live widgets. It has a pull-down taskbar and improved apps for navigation, image editing, and web browsing. On the whole, the new user interface has similar features as an Android phone.

    What Are Biomes?

    Biomes

A biome is a community of plants and animals that have common characteristics for the environment they exist in. It is also defined as a large ecosystem, extending over a wide geographic region, characterized by certain dominant life. They can be found over a range of continents and are distinct biological communities that have formed in response to a shared physical climate. Biomes have moved and changed many times throughout the history of the Earth. Biomes are the world’s major communities where insects, animals, plants, and people live in a certain type of climate. The climate and geography of an area determines what type of biome can exist in that region. Each biome consists of many ecosystems. The many biomes that exist are deserts, deciduous forest, coniferous forest, arctic tundra, tropical forest, grasslands, and taiga. They are all dependent on each other in numerous ways.

There are also Marine and Freshwater ecosystems that could be considered the water biomes. Both water biomes are extremely important since it contains water. Which water is the basis of all life. The earth’s coldest biome is the tundra which has permanently frozen subsoil called permafrost. It’s important that all the biomes be protected. The reason why is because over the past several years, human activity has destroyed, exploited, or polluted many biomes.

All living things are closely related to their environment and any change in a part. For example like an increase or decrease in one type of plant or animal. Which can cause a ripple effect of change through the entire biome. Also there are changes that can happen regarding the climate or the environment of a biome, those plants and animals that live within it can be threatened. This is why so many of them are able to adapt to the changes so that they can continue to survive. But unfortunately, not all of them are always able to adapt in such a manner so they die out or extinct. Some examples was ice age period and when dinosaurs.

Biomes are really important since any given plant or animal that depend on the biome for food may have a hard time surviving. The circle of life that is part of any biome is very complex. What affects one living thing within it will affect all of them on some level. To conclude all biomes are environments that consist weather, plants, animals, and etc.

How to Remove New Carpet Odor

Many people wonder how to remove new carpet odor after they have installed new carpeting in their home or office and find that there is a pungent, irritating smell to it that just will not go away. Unless you have installed natural fiber carpeting, you will almost certainly deal with the new carpet smell that is common to flooring that is made with nylon, polypropylene, acrylic and any number of other synthetic materials. Natural fiber carpeting such as 100% wool tends to emit less or no odor except for, in some cases, some initial smell from dyes used to color the material. Rugs made from jute, although considered a natural material, usually has a hemp or grassy odor that may never really go away completely.

If you have purchased carpeting recently and want to eliminate the new carpet odor, here are some suggestions as to how to remove or significantly reduce the offending emissions.

    1. Steam Clean – Even though your new flooring is obviously clean, it helps to steam clean your new carpet with a nontoxic steam cleaning detergent in order to remove loose fibers, dye residues, and residual chemical rosins from the fibers. Good products to use are any number of green, nontoxic steam detergents on the market or you can visit the AIM Company online and purchase Safe Clean steam cleaning detergent.

    2. Seal with Carpet Sealer – After you have steam cleaned your floor and have vacuumed as much water residue from the fibers as possible, while still damp, apply a nontoxic carpet sealer to the carpet. A good carpet seal is Safe Seal that is quite effective and can be found at the AIM Company. The instructions suggest that you apply by spraying the Safe Seal over the entire amount of carpet space you have steam cleaned. Be sure to let dry thoroughly before walking on the flooring. If you have a room humidifier, you can place it in the carpeted area to hasten the drying process and to insure that you have thoroughly stripped the floor even to the foam padding underneath.

    3. Re-do if Necessary – If this process does not lessen or eliminate the odors as much as you want, you can redo the process. You may find that certain materials are harder to get rid of new odors than others. A hundred percent nylon carpeting for example, tends to respond better to sealing than combination materials or those made purely from polypropylene. In fact, 100% nylon carpeting emits a little less obnoxious odors even when new than many other materials.

If you find that you just can not tolerate the new smell that new carpeting almost always emits, then you may want to consider using wood, tile or natural wool floor coverings. However, if you choose to use new carpeting, you will find that just knowing how to remove new carpet odor can bring a breath of fresh air to your home.
