Getting a Look at the Proform XP 160 Elliptical Trainer

Selling for around $400, after discounts, this particular elliptical trainer will deliver a great many features that usually aren’t found in machines in this price range. Generally speaking, one has to spend several hundred dollars more to get everything this machine offers, even though it sits at the lower end of this particular segment. For the price one will be paying, one will be getting quite a bit of trainer, to be honest.

For example, the XP 160 comes with several different stride lengths, which trainers costing this little usually can’t offer. The length can be set for as much as 18 inches, which is also something not seen in the machine at this price point. Normally, the most one can hope to expect is about 15 inches of length, which is acceptable – make no doubt – but which is overtaken by the full 18 inches available in the 110.

Additionally, magnetic resistance capability is offered in the Proform XP 160 elliptical trainer. For the price that this trainer will be offered at, that’s a little surprising, because one doesn’t often see magnetic resistance for this little, truthfully. There are also a wide range of resistance settings, which will prove to be more than enough for most anybody of any sort of fitness.

It will sit nicely and with a great deal of solidity wherever it is placed, and the frame is guaranteed to hold up well to users coming in at as much as 300 pounds. Additionally, there are a number of different workout regimens, with all of them having been designed by certified fitness trainers. Usually, though, most new users just play around with the resistance settings instead of going to the workout regimens.

There are two different ways that this machine is powered – meaning how it uses its LCD screens and other functions – with the first one being batteries. For those who tire of swapping out such things, there is an unmarked plug where a 6 volt AC adapter can be connected. The machine itself weighs a bit, so it’s a good idea to be sure of where it will be located because moving it around will take two people, usually.

Getting a look at the Proform XP 160 elliptical trainer, then, reveals a machine fully comfortable in its own skin and certainly attractive enough, especially after one spends a few minutes with it giving it a try. The price is also sure to attract those who may have a more limited budget but who also want quality for the money they can spend. This trainer will more than meet that criteria, it must be said.

How to Fix PS3 Problems On Your Own

Now, many people ask how they can fix PS3 problems when they strike. Honestly, there are some PS3 issues that can be fixed by gamer's hand, but some issues should be given close attention by more technically inclined experts. But, we all know that gamers tend to be really impatient at some times and prefer most issues be fixed as soon as possible and be back to gaming.

So, what to do to fix PS3 problems by your own?

Power Cycle Your Console:

This may be a new word for most people but power cycling is basically turning off the console and turning it back on. This is usually the first thing to do when the console tends to freeze during gameplay. There is always a time when freezing can not be avoided. Actually, it has become a normal issue when it comes to gaming consoles not just the PS3. So, when the console looks to be stalling up a bit, you can always turn it off and turn it back on.

Check for Cable Issues and Settings:

Cables are usually the first parts of a console to get really worn out especially if not kept properly. For audio and video issues, turning off the console and checking out if there are loose cables or connections would be an important thing. This is actually a good start in determining the exact problem when you fix PS3 issues. Audio and video settings should also be kept it mind. Setting up the video is quite easy. For PS3 issues beyond the skill of a typical console owner, using a repair guide would provide a more detailed way to fix PS3 issues such as hardware failure. Consoles under warranty can, of course, be taken for repair or even replacement. Electronic devices are different to various issues that are inevitable. However, these issues can be preceded with proper console handling and care. Some issues may even be fixed through the simplest of ways like cleaning the console. There you go. Here are some of the ways on how you can fix PS3 problems on your own.

Formula for Personal Change

Formula for Change:

Step One:

Assessment of the situation – what is true now & what are the desired goals or results

Here is the start. What is it that you want to be different? You need to discover and be very specific about what is the current situation and how do you want it to be different. To do this, use your Coach’s assessment and gather input from all interested and involved parties.

Step Two:

Learning – techniques, tools, etc.

Discover what you need to learn and how to learn it. To do this you need to talk with people. A mentor relationship may be the key to new ideas. Coaching may provide the push. Peers may have advise, opinions, or ideas that you need. Classes, books, or articles may help.

Step Three:

Practice – take action & pay attention

This is a key. You need to take action to have change come about. It does not happen by itself. Use the familiar settings to practice. Or look for new settings to try out your change.

Step Four:

Feedback – score results against goals

Always utilize your own self-analysis – check in with your self right after your practice to see if you obtained the desired results. Independent observers can also be helpful. Pick someone you trust and whose opinion you value and ask them to observe you. Then afterward ask for their feedback. Also important is to utilize your Coach’s observations and feedback.

Now based upon results you obtain and feedback, go back to either more Learning and/or more Practice. Do not be hard on yourself and keep this cycle up until you obtain your goal.

Persistence Can Work Miracles

What trains do successful people have? They are ambitious, hard-working, optimistic and enthusiastic. But above all they are persistent. They never give up, never waver or swerve from their purpose; they stay with it despite the setbacks and problems; they are strong-murdered and determined to succeed. In particular, they get up after each failure and try again. And there's no doubt that persistence pays off. All successful people were determined and persistent as they made their way to the top of their field.

But it takes the proper mindset to be persistent. You have to have faith in yourself. You have to know exactly what you want and set out to get it with determination, regardless of the odds. You can achieve what you want if you have enough persistence, but you have to pay the price. Experience has shown that most people give up just as they are about to succeed. According to Edison, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they brave up."

If you look closely at the lives of successful people you see that all of them had determination. They did not give up; they persisted until they got what they wanted.

A Few People Who Learned to Persevere and Went on to Tremendous Success

Henry Ford: Ford's early career was filled with failures. He failed and went broke five times before he finally achieved success. But he never wave up. He pushed on his endless failures, learning from each of them, and he is now considered to be one of the most successful men that ever lived.

Bill Gates: Gates is one of the richest people in the world, but he appeared to be an unqualified candidate for success when he was in school. He had little success early on but found his true calling when he was introduced to computers in high school. He went to Harvard but was in a rush to get out into the business world and dropped out to start a business. The business failed and many of his early ideas did not work, but he persevered and pushed on.

Robert Goddard: Goddard developed much of the technology used in present day rockets. While he was developing it, however, he was mocked and laughed at by many. The scientific community rejected his ideas and told him that space travel was impossible. And his early problems seem to indicate that they might be right: his rockets exploded on the launch pad, he frequently had little control of them when they lifted off, and they rarely went where he wanted them to. But he persisted and developed so many new techniques he is now regarded as the "father" of rocketry.

Abraham Lincoln: Lincoln has to be considered the champion of persistence. He had so many setbacks and defeats it's hard to believe that he did not give up. In 1831 he failed in business, in 1832 he was defeated when he ran for the legislature; in 1833 he failed in business again. His failures caused him to have a nervous breakdown in 1836. Despite this he persisted and went through seven more defeats in running for congress and the senate. Then finally things began to turn around, and you know the rest.

Oprah Winfrey: Oprah underwent hardships in her youth. She was brought up by her mother and grandmother, and lived in poverty for many years. She ran away at 14, hoping for a better life but ended up in a juvenile detention home. She was fired from her first job as a TV reporter because she was "unfit for TV." She persisted, however, and went on to become a major TV host and one of the richest women in the US

Stephen King: King's first book "Carrie," was rejected by 30 publishers. He finally got so dejected he thread the manuscript in the waste basket. His wife convinced him to try one more time, and he did. And, of course, eventually became one of the most-read authors of all time.

JK Rowling: Rowling was penniless, depressed and raising a child on welfare when she began writing the children's book "Harry Potter." To save on heat she did most of her writing in a local cafe. The first 12 publishers revised her manuscript, and when it was finally accepted the publisher told her that she had little chance of making much money on the book, and she should get a "day" job to support herself. But she was determined and continued writing.

Learn From Your Failure and Disappointment

One of the first things successful people learn is that failures and disappointments are not the end. Everyone has them, and the important thing is to learn from them. Ask yourself, "How could I have done it better? What did I do wrong? What can I learn from this?" Too many people see failure as the end of their dream. "Why do it again? I'm just going to fail again," they say to themselves. The people who succeed, however, are the ones that get up and go at it again, and again, for as long as it takes. It's important, though, to analyzing what you have done. Do not just push on blindly and stubbornly. Think about what you have done. Determine where you went wrong, then go at it again.

Think of your failure as a challenge. Be prepared to fail, and accept it. But keep saying to yourself, "I will succeed," and believe it. Put your heart into it, and try again. Remember: Persistence is the key to success. This has been shown again and again. Through persistence you can achieve anything. It can make your dreams come true.

Persistence in Sales

One place where persistence is particularly important is in sales. A study has shown that 80% of sales are made after the fifth call, but the same study showed that 48% of salesmen quite after the first call. Only 10% stuck to it until the fifth call.

People rarely buy something they see for the first time. This is why TV and other ads keep hammering the same thing at you. Most people do not seriously considering buying something until they have seen it in an ad or elsewhere at least five times. Think about that.

A Guide For Developing Persistence

  1. Begin with a definite goal. Make sure it is something you really want – something you're passionate about – and are willing to work extremely hard for.
  2. Write up a plan on how to achieve it. Plan it step by step. Think carefully about each step. Ask yourself how much time each step will take.
  3. Take action.
  4. Do not be deterred by any negativity or discouraging suggestions. Believe in yourself. Do not let anyone convince you that your goal is unachievable. Do not let it even enter your mind. Think "success."
  5. Create an arsenal of feedback mechanisms. You need some feedback if you are to improve. You can not improve if you do not know how you are doing.
  6. Adapt and adjust. If you're having setbacks or problems, analyze them and look for a way around them. Is a slightly different approach needed? Try one; if it does not work, try another, and another, until you succeed.
  7. Develop a strong will and a strong desire. Tell yourself you will not fail. You will not give up! Let your determination show. Keep the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow in mind.

Is There Ever Any reason For Stopping?

It's best not to ever let the idea of stopping enter your head. It's a negative thought, and you do not want negative thoughts. If you do not think about it, you will not have to deal with it. Your only thought when you encounter a failure is: Should I change my approach? And if so, how?

Sales may be one place where persistence may not pay off in the end. If it's obvious after numerous attempts with a given customer that there is no chance of a sale, you may have to give up. But again, do not give up easily.

Does Luck Have Anything to Do With it?

When they are told how successful a person has been, many people complain, "He was just lucky. Luck does enter the picture, and indeed, some people appear to be quite lucky. But the truth is: to a large degree you make your own luck. As the saying goes, "The harder you work, the luckier you get." Remember that.

What Is Residential Engineering?

Engineering is a complex area of practice because many of the branches overlap or blend into each other. Residential engineering is a good example of these blurry boundaries because it is such a complex undertaking and involves a variety of knowledge areas, practical skills, and sensitivity to the needs of clients in order to be done successfully.

Start with a definition

The practice of residential engineering involves taking engineering resources and applying them to work for clients that can include home buyers, homeowners, lenders, realtors and contractors. This work can involve a single home or a large community that will include thousands of homes as well as schools, parks, and other features.

Look at Examples You See Everyday

Unless you live in complete isolation, it is more likely than not that you have seen the projects created by these engineers. Large golf course communities, lakefront developments, or even housing in downtown areas are all within the purview of these professionals.

Some of the services they provide include the following:

Site selection: Before any project can begin, the people who are funding it must choose the right location. This involves consideration of surrounding areas, roadways, potential zoning concerns, costs, and other factors that vary from one project to another.

Surveying: Surveying is the process that determines the exact location and height of certain boundaries and structures which will play a role in positioning infrastructure and even property lines.

Architectural Planning and Design: While not all firms offer architectural planning, it is an important part of the process because it takes into account all aspects of the project from site selection through to the living requirements. Additionally, depending on where you are building there may be structural codes that need to be met and should be accounted for in the early stages of the project.

Permits and rezoning: In many regions, there are zoning restrictions that can impede a residential engineering project or permits required to undertake certain types of development. A residential engineer must understand the process for rezoning a given area and getting the right permits.

Water: Whether it is planning for storm water or ensuring that there will be sufficient drinking water for the people who move into a development, water resources and planning are a major concern.

Construction administration: Residential engineers are not restricted to the early stages of a project. In some cases, they also play an active role during the construction process, ensuring that the structures are built in accordance with the plans.

Residential engineering is an exciting field because it is challenging and rewarding, requiring a great deal of knowledge and skills to create a product that will affect the lives of residents each and every day.

However, it is worth noting that many firms do not like to work in this area for a number of reasons; so make sure to ask any potential firm or group if they in fact can actually handle your project in a manner that meets your individual customer needs in a timely manner.

What Are Panchaloha Idols and How Are They Manufactured?

As one of the oldest religions in the world, Hinduism carries a broad set of traditions, rituals and worship. Hinduism in the real sense is a way of righteous living and professes the unity of worship and the concept of a formless divine. But these are abstract concepts for many and the best way to help relate is through images. Over time, this was how the concept of various ‘Gods’ and ‘idol worship’ was developed, giving the free choice of worship ultimately to the individual. In this regard, Panchaloha idols play a key role in this regard.

Silpa Shastra is an ancient Hindu text dealing with arts and crafts and contains various design rules and standards. All idols whether stone or of metal have to be sculpted and manufactured according to these rules and prescribed rituals have to be followed both during manufacture and installation in order to obtain the correct benefits. Panchaloha idols are traditional idols of Gods fashioned from an alloy of 5 metals (silver, gold, copper, zinc and iron). The percentages in which these metals are used in the alloy varies between different regions in India.

The idol manufacturing process involves 2 steps. The first is the construction of the mould and the second is the actual creation of the idol. Initially, an image of the deity is created in wax with all the details. This wax is prepared by mixing paraffin wax, resin from the tree Damara Orientalis, and ground nut oil. Since wax produced by this method is quite hard, softer bee’s wax of high purity is mixed to make it easier to bring to life finer details.

To create a mould, the wax model is covered in layers of fresh clay and soil and then allowed to dry. Once the clay dries, it is heated to melt the wax and create a hollow mould. The melted Panchaloha metal alloy is then poured slowly into this mould to allow air bubbles to escape. This is then allowed to cool and solidify into the idol or deity. The cooling period varied between a few hours to a few days depending on the size of the statue and is judged based on experience. Finally, the craftsmen break the clay mold starting from the head of the statue to get the preliminary image. This image is then worked on to produce the final product.

The process has remained the same since the time of ancient dynasties like the Chera and the Chola and it is heartening to note that the art continues to thrive in various corners of India even today.

Why Laminate Flooring is So Popular

Laminate flooring is an affordable alternative to hardwood flooring or ceramic tile. It is available in a wide array of colors to give the appearance of different species of wood in a variety of finishes. You can also have the look of natural stone in a laminate floor with such choices as colonial brick and granite.

The ease with which you can clean laminate floors is also another reason why homeowners are opting for this choice of flooring material. You can sweep the floor or vacuum it. Washing up requires only a mild cleaner and warm water. The flooring has a wear layer so that it resists wear and tear in high traffic areas and it will not stain easily when such liquids as juice are accidently spilled on it.

Laminate floor looks very realistic even though it is not made from real wood or stone. Along with its long lasting qualities, it is easy to install. The planks or tiles have interlocking features through tongue and groove applications so that you simply snap each piece together. You can choose to either nail the planks to the subfloor or glue them down to give the effect of a floating floor.

You do not have to bother with refinishing laminate floors as you would with hardwood. Neither do you have to take the time to apply grout like you would with ceramic tile. Laminate is not recommended as the material of choice for kitchens or bathrooms because of the high moisture content in these rooms of the house. Neverheless, many people have installed laminate flooring in these rooms with great success.

You do need to use an underlay on the subfloor before you install the laminate planks. This is because the planks can cause hollow sounds when someone walks over them and this can be particularly annoying for anyone on the floor benefit.

Pheromones – Myth or Fact – Do Pheromones Work?

I did a quick search on the Internet for pheromones.

Pheromones are chemicals released by an organism into its environment enabling it to communicate with other in its own species. There are many different types I soon learned.

Insect Pheromones

Alarm Pheromone.

When an ant is disturbed, it releases a pheromone that can be detected by other ants several inches away. They are attracted by low concentrations of the pheromone and begin to move towards the region of increasing concentration. As they get nearer to their disturbed ant releasing an alarm pheromone, their response changes to one of emergency and alarm. They run about to try to break up the disturbance that caused the alarm.

Without additional amounts of the alarm pheromone are released, it soon wears off. This ensures that once the emergency is over, the ants return to going about their business.
Honey bees also have an alarm pheromone which is why if you get stung near a hive you can expect more bee stains really soon if you are not careful.

Leaving a Trail Pheromone

A trail pheromone is left by hands as they move about once they have found food. This trail joins and tells other ants where to go to find the food. It is continuously renewed as long as the food holds out. When the supply begins to dwindle, The trail Pheromone ceases to exist. The trail pheromone evaporates quickly so other ants stop coming to the site and are not confused by old trails when food is found elsewhere.

Sex Pheromones

Hundreds of pheromones are known with which one sex (usually the female) of an insect species associates its mates. Many of these sex attractants – or their close chemical relatives – are available commercially. They have proven useful weapons against insect pests as they can be used to attract insects to a trap, and to confuse males so that they will not reproduce. There are spiders that produce a moth sex pheromone to help catch their prey. A lot of animals such as dogs will mark their territory by peeing. It is said that the scent of pheromones is one of the territory marks.

Pheromones for humans.

There are Claims such as Gain MASSIVE Sexual Chemistry on Demand!

Instantly Arouse, Attract, Excite, Intrigue and Seduce Gorgeous Women Whenever You Want, Wherever You Want, As Often As You Want … Any Time You Are In The Mood.

If YOU would like to …

o Become a lot more sexually attractive.

o Meet more beautiful women, MUCH more easily.

o Grab the attention and get approached by women far more often.

o Make a fantastic, memorable, compelling impression, every time.

o Increase your self-confidence and masculinity BIG-time … then this may be the most important news you will read all year.

And other claims that are just as outrageous all over the internet. Human beings do not produce large quantities of natural pheromones. It has been noted that women who live together for awhile tend to sync their cycles. It has been written this is to a primer pheromone that women release.

If you're looking for the man or woman of your dreams, unsuspecting pheromones in your body scent are most likely playing a large and very clever role in mate attraction. According to an article in "Psychology Today," how our body odors are perceived as pleasant and sexy to another person is a highly selective process. We usually smell best to a person who genetically based immunity to disease differs most from our own. This could benefit you in the long run, making for stronger, healthier children. I watched a show on The Discovery Channel once about sexuality. They did a contest with a male and 5 females who so had very different types of immune systems. The females with similar immune systems to the male were more offensive in odor than the females with very different immune systems. I would imagine this is due to the different in pheromones. The pheromones though are naturally produced by our human bodies. There has been no research to pheromones produced in a lab.

Dating and Pheromones

What if we were to prey women were a little bit attracted to pheromones produced in a lab. If you go into a club after bathing in these pheromones how is a woman going to be attracted to you? You are emitting a scent that (supposedly) is turning any girl who smells it on. Well, what about the couple that is dancing next to you? In theory, that girl is getting turned on but who's to say she is getting turned on to you? She's getting turned on to the loser she is dancing with (Which this loser did not pay anything for pheromones)

So, assuming that they do work they would only benefit you in one-on-one situations.

The fact is that no research interviews synthetic pheromones. The companies selling products are synthetic pheromones. Do these work? Who knows there are much more reliable ways to gain attraction that a scent. I want someone to be attracted to me for me. Not some pheromone I'm wearing. How is she going to feel when I'm not wearing it. Also what is the effect of a women being exposed to the same pheromone all the time. Would not it trigger her to get used to that scent and therefore no longer react to it ?.

My suggestion is to look for other ways to attract someone that can produce consistent results without relying on some product.

The Advantages of Grille Guards for the Front End of Your Rig

For all of us driving a custom pickup, Jeep, or off-road vehicle, we know how important protecting the front end is. Whether you're hitting the back roads, constantly on a jobsite for work, or just cruising through town, it's good to know that you can count on that extra protection up front that you get from a custom fit grille guard.

Grille guards are designed to sit out front of your existing grill, thereby keeping it and all that sits behind it wayward tree limbs, stumps, rocks, and so on. They are also an excellent barrier if you should happen to bump into something like another vehicle, a tree, telephone pole, and mail box. They do wonders at absorbing the impact of such collisions.

Another wonderful advantage to adding a grille guard to your rig is that they are made to look good, and to look strong. Typically made of formed tube steel, you will find them in black, chrome, and stainless finishes, and most custom designed to fit your vehicle. No more intensive cutting, torching, and welding, but a true, easy to install, fit. You can pick from one piece, modular pieces, and even headlight guards – so that you can pretty much design and cover what you want to.

You may hear other terms used when referring to vehicle front end protection such as bull bars, push bars, brush guards, and grill guards. Oddly enough, grill guards and grille guards are the same product – just a spelling preference. Nothing more. Brush guards are one of the more common front guards, because they are designed to protect the bumper, grille, paint job, and beyond from getting scratched up by brush, branches, and the like. Push Bars are more of a combination guard and unit to assist in pushing other vehicles. The Bull Bar usually comes with a skid plate, and is more focused on protecting the lower front end from low lying stumps, boulders, and concrete contraptions that might be lying in wait, below your normal sight line.

Grille guards are available from a number of top quality manufacturers, such as CSI, Rugged Ridge, Westin, Cobra, and others. Each has their own styles and looks, so it is important that you do some serious shopping before you decide on the right one for you. These are all easily visible on the many on-line aftermarket auto accessory web stores, complete with pictures. All this makes it easy for you to visualize what this will look like on your particular rig.

All in all, the grille guard is a wonderful addition to the front end of any truck, jeep, 4×4, or off-road rig. Great protection for the grille, bumper, paint, lights, radiator, and so on. And just a great look up front – which really dresses things up right. So, do not delay one more minute, just start looking around, both on line and around town. Check out other vehicles like yours and see what others have done. Find what you like – and get that front end protected!

What to Burn in Your Chiminea

Having an outdoor fire on a cool night can allow you to enjoy the outdoors and provide for a cozy area to gather and relax. A Chiminea makes a wonderful outside fireplace that is both heat giving and attractive. They are also portable, making it possible to use them just about anywhere in your garden or patio. If you are thinking of purchasing a Chiminea and are wondering what you can burn in it, the answer is pretty simple and I will outline the main types of fuel available in this article.

Charcoal

If you are using a Chiminea for the first time and wish to use it for cooking then it’s probably best to start with charcoal. You can purchase charcoal briquettes which are self lighting and require little or no effort to get going. Simply light with a match or lighter and away you go. It’s best to leave the fire burning for about 20 minutes if you are planning to cook anything.

Wood

Since Chimineas were made to burn wood, then wood is an obvious choice. It also produces the least number of sparks which makes it a safe option. Generally, hardwoods are the best to use, and if you like aromatic wood there are several different kinds to choose from.

Pinon wood gives off a wonderful pine scent and also chases misquotes away, making enjoying your fire even more pleasant. Cedar, especially red cedar, also gives off a wonderful aroma as does apple wood. In addition, if you want a bit more aroma in your fire you can dry orange or apple slices and add them in with your logs. You can also try mature pine cones. The Mayan people of Central America used ‘Ocote’ in their clay Chiminea which serves two purposes: it is a natural firelighter and also gives off a pleasant aroma when lit due to its high resin content.

Eco logs are a cheap, simple alternative and are made from compressing saw dust to form a log shape. They usually come in a wax paper bag which you can light directly and let burn in your Chiminea without the need for any other firelighter. They can burn for up to 2 hours so are worth having around to get a fire started, you can then add other fuel later on.

Other Sources of Heat You Can Use in Your Chiminea

You can purchase other kinds of fuel for your Chiminea as well. Propane and gas inserts are designed so that you can burn gas in your cast iron or steel outdoor fireplace. You can then remove the insert when you want to use wood. Another alternative to wood is alcohol gel. This burns cleanly and only produces water as a byproduct, making it safe for use indoors. However, if you are going to use a Chiminea indoors please use common sense when choosing where to position it and do not attempt to cook or add any other fuel as this could lead to a house full of smoke and possible asphyxiation.

What not to burn in your Chiminea

You should never burn treated wood or wood pellets. Treated wood gives off toxic fumes which can affect your health and wood pellets, such as those used in a wood pellet indoor stove, leave a long ash which can quickly build up causing you to spend more time cleaning out ash than enjoying your fire. Also avoid green wood, as it will not produce much fire but will cause a lot of smoke. Dry wood is always best to burn when using any type of wood fire. Never use gasoline or petroleum based accelerants to start your fire. These can be extremely dangerous and could even cause an explosion when used in an enclosed fireplace.

Most manufacturers will supply instructions and basic maintenance information with your Chiminea so please refer to the booklet provided. If in any doubt contact the supplier or the manufacturer direct and ask them for advice. And on a final note, if using a clay Chiminea always make sure that you place sand or stones in the bottom of it before adding the fuel as clay is prone to cracking with sudden changes in temperature.

Possible Problems Encountered In Raising Cattle

If you are planning to raise cattle for farming or business purposes, you must determine first your purpose and what breed of cattle would you like to grow. Because each breed of cattle has different needs to attend to. If you do not know the kind of cattle you have then it will be a big head ache for you.

When you tend to raise cattle for beef industry your first problem is the adequacy of the area you are going to keep your cattle. The fact that human population is making land area conduced so giving a little space for farmers and livestock growers to raise their livestock it would be a great trouble for you. Cattle need to graze and should be put in an open field. When I say open field it does not mean that you can have just a few square meters of land area. It denotes hectares and hectares of land area. However when raising a cattle for farming land area is not an issue, farmers can just put their cattle at their backyard for fattening purposes.

Another mind boggling issue is the capital to sustain the cattle business. When you raise cattle for business you must see to it that you have an amount of money to sustain your business especially when you do not have a hundred hectares for pasture. You need to buy feeds for them. Not just food but other supplementary needs of your cattle depending on the breed you got. Contrary to cattle business, cattle for farming do not need that much capital. Farmers will just look for hays and fresh grass to feed them.

Weather is another factor a cattle raiser should take into account. Granting that the farmer has a vast land area for his cattle, the primary concern of the cattle drawer is daught. Too much heat from the sun would destroy the grass which is the cattle's basic food supply. Instead of minimizing operating expenses, cattle raiser would be forced to spend extra amount for feeds due to the scarcity of grass for the cattle to graze.

Disease and Parasites are also an issue that cattle growers burdened themselves. Disease like FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease), Mad Cow disease and other animal illness continue to beothersome to livestock growers. Although there have been vaccines it still is a threat especially to small time cattle growers with limited capital.

Here is a few of the contributing problems in cattle raising that have been laid down, would farmers and cattle growers should attend seminars and lectures governing this in order to be aware of the arising problems. Awareness is the key for a successful cattle raising business.

How Come Gold Jewelry Turns White Sometimes?

Sometimes customers come to me and ask why their gold jewelry suddenly changes color or has white spots, worrying about that they may have bought a fake.

In fact, usually these worries are unnecessary. Under normal circumstances, as long as it is bought from a regular gold shop, the quality of the gold jewelry is guaranteed. After a little jewelry cleaning by some staff in a gold shop, the white spots on the gold will disappear, and the jewelry will be re-lit as new.

Why would this happen? How come the gold jewelry turns white? Gold is one of the nature’s most stable metals, and it does not react with any oxide gas in the air at room temperature, nor with three major acid (sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid) or weak acid. Only aqua regia (a mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acid) can corrode it. But mercury is an exception, it is very easy to react with gold and produce a white compound called amalgam. Therefore, once the gold jewelry is exposed to mercury, it will turn white immediately. And because mercury is volatile, it can cause discoloration of gold even from a distance.

This may occur in the home, because mercury or mercury-type substances exist in many detergents, cosmetics and skin care products. If gold is exposed to these items, it is likely to change its color, turning white, gray, or dark. Many ladies have a habit of using skin care product before touching their jewelry, which makes the chemicals contact the gold directly and causes discoloration of the jewelry. In addition, perfume, hair spray, sea water, swimming pool water, and dirt caused by long-term wearing, are also likely to make gold jewelry change its color or fade. This has nothing to do with the purity of the gold, and it does not mean the jewelry is a fake.

Gold jewelry should be kept from direct exposure to the substances referred, and should be cleaned regularly. And if the surface of gold jewelry has changed color, do not use a hard object or tool to eradicate the changed part. The correct approach is to use alcohol lamp or welding torch which is used in jewelry processing to heat the white part of the gold, so that mercury can sublimate out of amalgam and separate from gold. When the jewelry gets cool, brush it lightly with a toothbrush, and then wipe it and press it hard for a few times with a soft cloth, after which the gold will recover its color. But do not try to do this with a lighter, because the jewelry will turn black easily for incomplete combustion of the gas. K gold and inlaid jewelry do not suit this method, they should be taken to the gold shop to have other proper treatment. However, if consumers do have doubts about the quality of their jewelry, they should go to the professional department and have the jewelry identified as soon as possible.
