The Truth About Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Eyeliner, Lip Liner, and Eyebrow Tattoos

I've had cosmetic makeup procedures done in many parts of the world at many clinics and for many different reasons. All have been successful and I am pleased with the results; the ease of applying less makeup, waking up to beautiful brows and perfect eyeliner and softly colored lips. I also love going for a swim and coming out looking like I never got my face wet, at least there's no runny eyebrow pencil, no black smudges of liner under my eyes and no dull. lifeless lips. That's my experience, so naturally I've been recommending permanent makeup for a long time. But the truth is that tattooing any part of your face is a serious matter, and it's definitely NOT for everyone!

My adventure with persistent makeup began in Asia, therefore I had some of the best cosmeticians attend me at a clinic in Hong Kong. Later in Taipei, I had my eyeliner retouched a few months before I was married, so my honeymoon on secluded beaches of Macau was free of makeup worries. However, through my travels as a cultural journalist, during almost 10 years in Asia, I also saw numerous ladies who cosmetic tattoo eyesbrows were a total disaster, mostly because the shape and the arch of the brow was overly pronounced, or because the tattoo had been done on an area above the natural brow, or so unnatural looking due to having the brow line tattooed in a solid inky stain on the skin and not a natural feathery application within some existing hair.

This seemed to have been the result of women getting eyebrow tattoos after having completely removed their natural brow hair, either through electrolysis or some other hair removal system. Most of these "not very flattering" eyebrow results were on women who lived in smaller villages and isolated regions where newer tattooing techniques were not yet began to be applied, and where black was the only one that was used to create dragons on the shoulders and backs of men was also used on lady's brows. But the newest methods, which are used in international clinics, allow for a wide choice of pigments, including blending colors to get very natural shades that match even fair hair colors.

But who should get cosmetic tattoos and who should not? The truth is that if a lady has no brows due due to an illness that has contributed to hair loss, a tattoo is an excellent solution, especially if the feathering techniques is used. What this means is that tiny strokes of pigment are applied to the brow region to look like hair, not a solid line. Women who have very sparse brow hair should also consider adding a bit of dimension with this same technique, and in this case, the technician will follow the natural brow. Women who should not consider these procedures are those who have poor natural healing abilities, who bleed profusely, who scar easily or have extremely sensitive skin.

If you're unsure about getting eyebrows tattooed, since this procedure alters the look of the eye in a very noticeable way, then start with something smaller like a bit of eyeliner. Have your technician tattoo a fine outline in the lash line and see how your skin reacts to the pigment. If all is well, go ahead with the brows.

"Hypnotic Gaze". You can hypnotize a girl without words – by using eye contact alone! An easy tactic is to hold your gaze a little longer than usual – the ideal would be around two seconds longer than usual. The weird thing about this tactic is that a prolonged gaze would have somehow excite a woman sexually – nobody knows why it works so well! When you do this (especially when you're starting out), do this sparingly until you really master the technique. Remember not to come across as a nut job – and stop staring at her.

"The Mirror" . One easy way to make as if a woman feels emotionally connected with you is to mimic her body movements. To pull this technique off, you will need to be acutely aware of her body language. Copy how she positions her body, and all the substance things that she does. When you do this, you will subconsciously send her signals that she is in "familiar" territory, and as a result, she will put her guard down. Amazingly effective stuff!

Summary and Review of Goleman’s Leadership That Gets Results

Daniel Goleman’s article, Leadership That Gets Results, is one of the best articles from the Harvard Business Review archives. As the noted author of the book, Emotional Intelligence, Goleman combines his expertise in emotional intelligence with research on leadership styles done by the consulting firm, Hay/McBer. Their research uncovers six distinct leadership styles. Goleman concludes that there is no one best style, but the best leaders use their emotional intelligence to determine which style will best fits their specific situation. He describes each of the leadership styles, their advantages and disadvantages, and offers some brief examples of how a leader might apply the style. Every leader or aspiring leaders should understand each of these styles and how they can be used:

Coercive Style: This is a compliance focused style that is characterized by the phrase “Do what I tell you.” Although this style works well in extreme circumstances of a crisis or turnaround, in most cases it will have a negative impact on the overall organization once the crisis is past.

Authoritative Style: This style is used by leaders who have a clear vision for the organization and can rally people by saying, “Come with me.” It is a generally a positive style and works really well when an organization that has floundered in the past can be inspired to move in the direction of a new vision.

Affilitative Style: This is a style that is used by leaders to build harmony and teamwork within an organization. It is characterized by the phrase, “People come first.” Leaders will use this style to break down silos, to build relationships, and to get people to communicate and cooperate.

Democratic Style: As the name implies, this style is used to get people to buy-in and to build consensus. It is best described by the phrase “What do you think?” It works well in professional environments where subordinates have deep expertise and access to information so that they can collaborate to make informed, consensus driven decisions. However, the democratic style can also be frustrating because it will require many meetings and discussions to arrive at a consensus.

Pacesetting Style: This style is often used by leaders who have technical expertise and can lead by example. Hence the phrase, “Do as I do, now” best describes this style. Pacesetting can achieve quick results if the team has expertise and primarily needs to be motivated; however, this style can also be de-motivating since the focus is on the leader performance and high standards. It deprives some on the team from demonstrating their own leadership and expertise, or causes others to feel overwhelmed by the fast pace and demanding standards.

Coaching Style: This style is used by leaders to develop people through coaching. Those using the coaching style will suggest ideas to subordinates with the catch-phrase, “try this.” This style works well when people are receptive to coaching, but can also require patience and a willingness to accept failure by the leader/coach when subordinates are in a learning mode.

Goleman’s conclusion that there is no one best style is supported by additional research that correlates six factors of organization climate with each of the styles. The organizational factors include: flexibility, responsibility, standards, rewards, clarity, and commitment. The research shows that the coercive and pacesetting styles have a negative correlations on organizational climate while the other four styles have a positive impact. Thus, except for unusual circumstances where coercive and pacesetting styles might be appropriate, leaders should normally use a combination of the authoritative, affiliative, democratic and coaching styles to achieve success. The best leaders will sense from their emotional intelligence when to use each of these styles. If you are an aspiring leader or a leader who wants to get to the next level of leadership excellence, Goleman’s article is a great primer on how to effectively use different leadership styles.

How Much Does Satellite Radio Advertising Cost?

When you think "national radio advertising" the word "expensive" very likely also comes to mind. For years this was very, very true. The price to reach a national audience was dictated by some very well padded gatekeepers who could name crazy high prices if you want to get your message in front of the masses. Because of this, many start up businesses were forced to slowly grow in small cities before they could take their message to a national scale on the radio.

While this is still the case with many syndicated radio shows broadcast over am and fm dials, satellite radio does not hold the same gate keeper or price points of years gone by. In fact, the cost to advertise nationally on satellite radio is lower than it is to advertise on many medium and large cities across the USA.

The trade off and reason for this is the fact that your audience is very spread out and not in one select pocket. If you are selling a product or service that has no geographic target and you want to push your message far and wide, this makes it a great medium to advertise on while keep your marketing budget at realistic levels.

However if you do need to target one select city or state, the reach of satellite radio advertising may not be strong enough for what you had in mind. For example: A car dealer or boutique shop owner who have store front locations and only sell out of that location would not benefit from a low cost national advertising plan on satellite radio. They would be better on their local am or FM radio stations.

However lets say that the car dealership can ship their inventory worldwide or that boutique shop is pushing their unique website and can ship nationwide, satellite radio suddenly becomes a very attractive option for reaching a national audience that in the past would have been out of the price range for either of these companies.

To be clear: If you have a product or service that can reach a national scale and you can get it to your customers for a low price – then satellite radio advertising should be something you and your marketing department can explore. If you are only going after a select city or region, then it is not an option you need to put in the mix of your next marketing meeting.

How to Play Happy Birthday on the Guitar

Learning to play simple and fun songs on the guitar is easy. Many of my students have learned how to play Happy Birthday in their first lesson. Follow the simple steps below to learn this song in just a few minutes.

Learning to Play the Notes

To play Happy Birthday on the guitar, you first must learn how to play an open string (no left hand fingers pressing the string down to the fretboard). To do so, position your right hand over the sound hole and strike the first string (thinnest string) either with the tip of your right thumb or with a pick held between your right thumb and the outside edge of your right index finger. (You can also pluck the string with one of your right hand fingers by hooking the tip of the finger under the string and then plucking the string to sound the note.) Say "0" each time you sound the note because that is the number for the note played when you play an open string.

Except for open string notes, playing all the other notes requires holding a string down at one of the frets with the tip of a left hand finger. Press the tip of your left thumb to the back of your guitar and arch your left hand fingers so that you roughly make a "C" shape between your thumb and index finger. With the tip of your index finger, practice pressing the first string down against the fretboard with your fingertip very near each of the first four frets (but not touching each fret. As you press the string down at each fret, sound the note the same way you did for playing the string open. In order as you play these first four frets, say the numbers one through four because those are the numbers for each of these notes.

Once you have learned to hold the string down at the first four frets to play notes one through four, move up the neck of the guitar and do the same thing with the next four frets. Say the numbers five through eight as you play these notes. Finally, move again to the next four frets and practice sounding these notes. Say the numbers nine to twelve as you play them.

Counting the string played open, you now can play thirteen different notes on that string and say the number for each note as you play it! You now know all the notes for playing Happy Birthday on the guitar. Most guitars are marked with a dot on the fretboard at the fifth, seventh, and twelfth frets, so finding the right fret for each numbered note is not hard at all with just a little practice.

Playing the Song

You will now learn to play Happy Birthday on your guitar in four groups of notes. Use your ear to guide you about the right timing as you play each group of notes. Play the first group of notes (0 – 0 – 2 – 0 – 5 – 4). Play the two open notes faster than the other notes. In fact, you will play the first two notes of each group faster than the other notes in each group.

Then play the second group (0 – 0 – 2 – 0 – 7 – 5). The first four notes are the same as in the first group, so memorizing the first half of the song is easy.

Play the third group next (0 – 0 – 12 – 9 – 5 – 4 – 2). Finally, play the fourth group (10 – 10 – 9 – 5 – 7 – 5). Practice the song until you can play it smoothly on the first string. With just a little practice, you can easily learn how to play Happy Birthday on the guitar by following these steps!

Playing in Other Keys

Because you are playing by fret numbers, you can play this song on any of the strings. Except for the sixth string, which has the same notes at each fret as the first string does, playing Happy Birthday on the other strings changes the song to a different key. You have now learned how to play Happy Birthday on the guitar in five different keys!

Swimming Pools – 6 Feng Shui Tips to Make Them Auspicious

Swimming pools are a wonderful addition to any home. They create an instant place for fun, relaxation, and exercise. Plus, water is extremely beneficial in any landscape. However, in feng shui, swimming pools can often create negative influence. That's because swimming pools possess a great deal of energy. It is also because swimming pools are often located at the rear of the home, and that is extremely inauspicious according to feng shui.

Even so, there are some instances when pools are a benefit to the homeowner. This would include a pool that is correctly sized, shaped, and positioned. Certain pool shapes and sizes can create problems, such as poison arrows, which are severe points of energy directed at the house.

On the plus side, pools positioned in certain locations can actually benefit homeowners. These are pools that are placed according to flying star. At their best, pools can be positioned to tap the "wealth star" – the secret location of prosperity that is tied to the direction of the front door. Another benefit of flying star placement is to overcome negative energies, as pools can offset negative energy from poor star placements.

Look at placing your pool in an auspicious location and follow feng shui's design criteria to make sure your pool benefits you! Positioned right, swimming pools can add tremendous wealth luck to a home! If not, though, it can be a very negative influence that can harm your wealth. To be sure about your pool, though, consider checking in with a feng shui consultant.

The Top 6 Feng Shui Pool Rules

1. Select a shape that is auspicious.

The best shapes for pools are round, oval, kidney, or curving. This is because none of these shapes have any hard edges or points that can create a poison arrow effect that square-shaped pools often do. Other good choices include octagons and figure-eights.

2. Keep your pool size proportional to the size of the home.

Pools are better if they are not overly large. If they are too large for the home, they can "overwhelm" it, leaving much negative energy. Better to go with a smaller pool than one that is too large.

3. Place pools at the sides of the yard.

If possible, it is better to position swimming pools at the side of a yard rather than directly in the rear. If that can not be accommodated, then do try to avoid having a pool that is directly in line with the rear center of the house. Pools that do can become menacing, as water behind you is considered bad feng shui.

4. Pools that embrace a home bring good luck.

These pools appear to wrap around a home or curve toward the home. These are a good design choice as they do not have hard edges pointing at the house.

5. Locate pools in a favorable sector for periods 8 and 9.

Until 2043, pools should ideally be located in the North, Southwest, East, or Southeast sectors.

6. Incorporate the five elements around your pool.

Pools should be mixed with the other elements, such as metal (handrailings, pumps, electrical equipment), wood (plants, arbors, gazebos), earth (rock, cement surroundings or deckings), and fire (lighting). This helps to ensure that the pool is well-balanced and harmoniously incorporated into the landscape.

Will Neosporin Help Chafing?

Chafing

Chafing is a problem for many active individuals. It begins as a slight redness on the skin and can get bad quickly. Movement can become uncomfortable seemingly out of the blue. Is there a way to prevent or treat this problem and keep the body healthy? This page will cover the specifics of what causes, how to treat and minimize this irritation. There are a few easy steps to take that will stop chafing before it has a chance to take hold.

What does chafing mean?

Chafing is caused by the rubbing of skin against surfaces like loose or tight clothing, excess moisture or objects. The rubbing causes friction and damage by leaving little abrasions all over the affected surface. Chafed skin tends to look red or as if it has a rash. Areas experiencing chafing tend to get sore and it becomes noticeable quickly. Excess weight can be the cause of chafing without much activity during the warm weather months.

Friction induced chafing can be experienced by anyone at any age. Most diaper rashes are caused by the chafing of skin from moisture on the surface of the diaper against skin. Elderly people often have to deal with chafing problems when clothes are ill-fitting. Any time you are dealing with constant friction chafing will happen. It is only a matter of time before you begin to feel the effects.

What is Neosporin Ointment

Neosporin ointment, which contains anti-bacterial medication, can be used to treat skin chafing since it can prevent the affected area from becoming infected. The ointment can also moisturize the affected skin area, prevent it from cracking and alleviate the pain caused by dryness. It is especially important to use ointments like Neosporin to treat particularly deep and severe skin chafing that have open wounds and bleed as the area can become infected.

Using Neosporin

One should read the instructions, ingredients, and warnings on the package of Neosporin carefully before using it as it may contain ingredients that the one is allergic to. Before applying Neosporin, one should clean and then dry the chafed area with clean water and soap. After applying the ointment to the affected area, one can also apply a bandage over it to protect it from further friction and irritation. Refraining from performing activities that can further aggravate the chafing will promote the chafing’s timely healing.

Rotting Lumber, Rusty Hammer, and Angry Dad

I started hearing some banging and sawing and the noise of neighborhood children having serious fun a few months ago. Curious I followed my ears into the woods near my house and found them hard at work trying to build something. I had an immediate memory-flashback to my youth, and to my early parenting years watching my own young children.

Probably through the march of history, adventurous children have hiked off into the woods or behind the garage carrying hammers, nails, and lumber scraps, all "borrowed" from the family workshop. Their minds are filled with grandiose mental images of creating a fort, pirate ship, or clubhouse. Most of these construction projects start with a lot of banging and end with an abandoned construction site and a harried Dad looking for tools that are rusting and decaying over at the now-forgotten "Fort Apache."

The reason for failure is typically because the little adventurers started with a mental image of whatever they wanted to build, lots of childish enthusiasm and energy, but no planning. If they had a simple blueprint more clubhouses would actually get built.

It's pretty much the same with most Marketing Plans. They get started with grandiose mental images and dreams of success but very little, if anything, gets committed to paper and a formal (or semi-formal) planning process. Just as a blueprint for a building (or a fort) starts with a goal and plan, the Marketing Plan starts with an identifiable goal. Both the blueprint for a kid's fort and marketing plan develop in the same way, with foundation, position, themes, timetables, budgets, and sub-projects … all working towards the ultimate, identified end – a workable Plan.

The next time you think of starting a marketing project, stop! Think of an unfinished, rotting Fort Apache with a rusty hammer and an angry Dad. Then get out the paper and pencil and design the Plan first. What specifically do you want to accomplish – maybe it's expressed in sales volume or number of units to sell, or lost customers to reactivate, or new customers to attract. Then develop the theme, visuals, media strategy, timetable, budget, and fulfillment strategy.

You do not want your promotions to end up looking like that partly built fort, you want it to be a huge success that will accomplish your goals and that requires a plan. So, instead of banging away with youthful enthusiasm, put pencil to paper and get started.

What Is a Retractable Seating System?

The use of a retractable seating system has become commonplace in areas where space is at a premium.

Retractable seating is composed of multi-tiered platforms and it uses limited space for multipurpose usage. The retractable seating demonstrates a maximum seating capacity in a limited area when fully extended. One can also make use of the free space in various usages when it is fully retracted.

There are several different options which are commonly used and they all have their own unique benefits. The key to choosing a retractable seating system that best matches the intended use is by understanding what each option has to offer. When digging deeper into the details, there are a number of differences that can be spotted, however they all rely on the same basic principles.

In general, most of these seating alternatives will rely on either bench or chair seating. Depending on where you search, a retractable seating system will also be referred to as a telescopic seating system. They tend to feature multi-tiered platforms to ensure that anyone sitting in the seats will have a good view of whatever is going on.

Additionally, the seating may be operated manually or automatically depending on the size of seating.

In most cases, retracting the seats can be done on a row by row basis which makes it easy to seat a large crowd or only a few rows. This can be an incredibly important feature if you need additional floor space and do not require all of the seating.

A seating system that utilizes bleachers is most often best suited in situations where designated seating is not needed. As an added bonus, bleachers will often allow you to seat more people than when individual chairs are used. Bleachers also tend to be easier to clean which is helpful if they will be reused multiple times within a short time period.

On the other hand, a retractable seating system with chairs also has its advantages. Chairs, even plastic ones, tend to be more comfortable than bleachers. Not only the seat itself, but also the additional back support is provided. This is helpful when people will be listed for extended periods of time without doing a lot of moving, such as during speeches and lectures.

If the situation arises where the retractable seating system will not provide enough seats, then using supplementary seating or mobile seating is normally a good solution. It does not matter whether you choose to use bleachers or individual chairs, the primary benefit of a retractable seating system remains the same. It allows you to provide as much seating as necessary while still allowing you to as much free floor space as possible. This is particularly useful in multi-purpose areas such as gymnasiums and arenas.

This is very important when the period of accounts is less than one year. On the other hand, if the rate of depreciation is ‘per annum’ the depreciation should be calculated on the assets with due consideration to the period for which the asset has been used in business during the year. In case of additions to assets during the year, it is advisable to ignore depreciation on additions if the date of additions is not given. Same rule shall hold good for the sale of assets during the year.

18. Stock at the end appearing in the trial balance.

It is important to emphasize the rule that balance appearing in the trial balance is taken to one and only one place. It may either be trading account or profit and loss account or balance sheet. Since stock at the end is an asset, it will betaken to balance sheet. On the other hand, so long as there is stock in trade, account for that must be kept open and thus be taken to the assets side of balance sheet.

Overhead Handling of Materials in Industrial Environment

Material handling is one of the key phenomena in any industrial environment. The mechanical device to be adopted for such handling depends upon a number of factors such as weight of the materials, distance to be handled, frequency and repetitiveness of handling, economy of time and cost, safety and the process of manufacturing. An environment of high degrees of temperature and distancing away from such environment is another aspect that necessitates handling of materials through overhead cranes. There are a number of major industrial sectors that depend upon the deployment of Overhead cranes. They are Paper Mills, Steel Plants, Sugar Mills, Cement Plants, Chemical Sector and Railways.

An overhead crane, also called a bridge crane operating over the working environment, runs horizontally over two parallel runways coupled to a traveling bridge. The lifting component, hoist travels along the bridge to lift materials. It covers varying scope, depending upon the various processes involved in manufacturing. The basic objective of using overhead crane is to keep the hazardous elements such as heat, acidity, combustibility, distanced from the work force. For example, in a galvanizing unit, heavy structural materials are required to be dipped into a number of tanks for the performance of sequential processes such as acid tank for pickling, water tank for rinsing, chemical tank for fluxing and molten zinc tank for galvanizing. Similarly, in a steel plant, overhead crane does operations like feeding raw materials to a furnace, storing for cooling, lifting and loading of finished coils onto trucks and trains.

There are a number of established and leading industrial units in India who manufacture and export overhead traveling cranes and material handling equipments. If you are running any of the process type industries, you may find your requirement from a wide range of products such as industrial cranes, double girder overhead traveling cranes, industrial cranes, automated cranes and special purpose lifting equipment. You can easily get the spare parts and critical components to keep your cranes free of long breakdown. Before deciding to buy any of the overhead material handling equipment, you need to verify if the manufacturer is certified for ISO 9001: 2000, 14001: 2004 an 18001: 2007 so that you are automatically assured of the quality of the equipment that you are going to install.

Beside the equipment, you can find a number of services such as overhauling, erection, commissioning, installation, rail alignment, re-rating and revamping of EOT cranes, conversion of DC to AC Controls, automation of cranes, refurbishing of crane gearboxes. The manufacturer of EOT crane you select should be well-resourced with regard to Man-Material-Machinery-Money-Management. You should get your specific requirement fulfilled along with timely delivery and after sale services. If you are going in for a new engineering project, you may like to avail consultancy services with regard to designing, raw materials, specifications and dimensions of the machines that would suit to your project. You can avail services on turnkey basis covering every aspect of a project such as conceptualization, designing, fabrication, installation, commissioning and first trial run.

Cleaning Snowboarding Boots

It’s hard to find a way of having more fun in the winter, so there’s nothing better than spending time on the slopes at the weekends, boarding and skiing. The trouble is when you get home, exhausted but happy, the temptation is to simply put the gear away in the garage and go and get a hot drink. You think to yourself that you’ll get up early and sort it out in the morning, but you forget and the next time you see the gear will be the next weekend you pack it in to the car to head off to the slopes. So the ski gear will still be left cold and damp for another few days.

After a few weeks of this kind of treatment, you’ll probably notice that your boots are starting to smell a little ripe. This is because all the cold and damp has led to the growth of bacteria in the fabric parts of the boot liners, and they love to give off that very noticeable odour.

What to Do

To get rid of the smell you have to get rid of the bacteria, so you’ll need to do the following:

Clean the Boots

  • Take the liners out of the boots, and put them in a warm room or office to dry. This step alone will kill a proportion of the bacteria.
  • Fill a sink or a bucket with warm water and add one cupful of white vinegar and small amount of laundry powder.
  • Soak the liners in the mix for at least 30 minutes. The vinegar will kill off most of the remaining bacteria and the detergent will deal with the sweat and dirt that any future bacteria would like to feed on.
  • While the liners are soaking, use a sponge soaked in the same solution to clean off the rest of the boots.
  • Once the liners have soaked, rinse them thoroughly in clean water. Don’t worry if they still smell of vinegar after rinsing, that smell will disappear as they dry.
  • Reshape the liners and leave them on a towel to dry thoroughly in a warm room.

Keep the Bacteria at Bay

The cleaning will have dealt with the majority of the bacteria, and so the liners will smell much more sweetly now. The next step is try to prevent the bacteria taking hold again:

  • Spray the liners with an odour spray such as Febreeze or Odour Eater. Office cleaner suppliers are usually a good source for these kind s of products.
  • Make an insert that you can use between sessions on the slopes. Baking soda and Coffee Grounds are ideal for this. Fill and old pair of socks with a mix of the soda and coffee, and tie them off to make a pouch, and put them into the boots when they’re not in use.

Prevention

The best solution is to dry the boots thoroughly after each use.

  • Get in the habit of bringing the boots in to a warm dry room and removing the liners to allow them to air, rather than putting them away wet.
  • Once they are dry, spray the liners with an odour control spray, and drop in the sock pouches described above.

These simple cleaning tips will make your boots much more pleasant to put on and wear, and who knows, you may even find other people want to join you on the slopes again!

The Tombstones and Creepy Old Crypts of Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion

Dear Lou …

We just love the Haunted Mansion! Every time we go, we just love looking at the graves in front of the entrance, and we just noticed the mausoleum at the exit. They were always there (I do not remember the mausoleum). And are the names on the graves of real people or just made-up?

OK, first things first. I love the Haunted Mansion as well! To me, there is nothing else quite like it in any park in WDW. The nostalgia, the effects … it's great.

Now, on to the questions (posed to me by someone during a recent trip to WDW, but asked of me more than once).

The mausloeum at the end of the attraction was always there, but may be overlooked by people who are still shaking, laughing, or running as they exit the Haunted Mansion. As far as the tombstones, they have always been there … and always will be, I believe.

The Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion

The tombstones at the entrance to the Dutch Gothic home of the Graceys are there not just for show, but are a silent, standing tribute to many of Walt Disney World's (and especially the Haunted Mansion's) contributors. As is often done in attractions through the parks, Imagineers honor those men and women who have helped create some of the true magic of WDW. Sometimes they are hidden, while other times, as here, they are more obvious.

After you pass through the menacing wrought-iron gates surrounding the Haunted Mansion, you will encounter the home's cemetery, (conveniently located right outside the entrance). Here you will find a number of witty headstones with epitaphs (written by Disney Legend Xavier Atencio), not to the "dear departed", but in tribute to the many Imagineers who helped develop the Haunted Mansion.

Here is a list of the tombstone inscriptions and the Imagineers who inspired them:

Requiescat

Francis Xavier,

no time off for

good behavior

RIP

Legendary Imagineer Francis Xavier "X" Atencio helped develop the Haunted Mansion story line, wrote the theme song's lyrics, and helped come up with the tombstone inscriptions.

Dear departed

Brother Dave,

he chased a bear

into a cave

This stone was named after Dave Burkhart, who was the model builder for the Haunted Mansion.

At peaceful rest

lies Brother Claude,

planted here

beneath this sod

Claude Coats was the Imagineer who came up with the layout of the OmniMover ride track for the Haunted Mansion, as well as numerous concept sketches

Some of the "seriously departed"

In memory of

our patriarch,

dear departed

Grandpa Marc

Marc Davis, a legendary designer and artist for Disney, as responsible for almost all of the concept art for the Haunted Mansion, including many of the humorous characters and scenes.

Master Gracey

laid to rest,

no mourning please

at his request

Farewell

Yale Gracey was responsible for many of the special effects seen in the Haunted Mansion, including the stretching portraits and the séance room, as well as for a number of attractions through Walt Disney World.

Rest in peace

Cousin Huet,

we all know

you did not do it

Cliff Huet was an architect and lead interior designer.

Here lies

good old Fred,

a great big rock

fell on his head

RIP

This inscription is a tribute to Disney Legend Fred Joerger, an art director that created numerous plaster effects for the Haunted Mansion. He is also honored with his name on a window above Main Street, USA.

Here lies a man

named Martin,

the lights went out

on this old Spartan

Bud Martin was the director of the Imagineering special effects department.

RIP

In memoriam

Uncle Myall,

here you'll lie

for quite a while

Chuck Myall was a designer at WED Enterprises who aided in the overall planning of the Magic Kingdom.

Wathel R. Bender,

he rode to glory

on a fender

Peaceful rest

An innovator in the area of Audio-Animatronics, Wathel Rogers also helped program many of the figures in the Haunted Mansion

RIP

Mister Sewell,

the victim of

a dirty duel

Peaceful rest

Bob Sewell was one of the head models at WED Enterprises

Good friend Gordon,

now you've crossed

the River Jordan

Gordon Williams designed much of the sound effects for the Mansion and assisted with the Audio-Animatronics programming

Dear sweet Leota,

beloved by all

In regions beyond now,

but having a ball

The most recent addition to the "family plot", how could we forget "little" Leota Toombs? She was an artist at WED who face was used as the model for the head in the crystal ball for the seance scene, and so the character was named "Madame Leota" in her honor. Keep your "eyes" on the headstone for a little surprise – it opens its eyes every so often to see who's coming over, then closes them again in silent vigilance.

As you exit the Haunted Mansion, you will also find a crypt on the left hand side. The names found on the two crypts (with their tongue-in-cheek pronunciations in parentheses) are:

Asher T. Ashes (ashes to ashes)

Wee G. Bord (ouija board)

I. Trudy Dew (I truly do)

Dustin T. Dust (dust to dust)

Manny Festation (manifestation)

In Spiritual Repose …
